1  Economy / Services / Please disregard this useless thread on: May 08, 2017, 06:14:19 PM
I'm removing this post due to a couple of members doubting the trustworthiness of this post. It may be re-opened at a later time.

Enjoy the rest of your day!
2  Other / Off-topic / Dank Remembrance Thread on: May 08, 2017, 03:32:03 AM
My mind is currently being torn apart! I was walking along the lakefront earlier today with my partner, and we strolled past two men arguing. For no apparent reason, it reminded me of Vod, and a user he always argued with. The other user was always posting very humorous threads and would reply in a half-serious yet funny way each time. I came on here just to ask this question as it's beating me to the ground trying to find that one user! As far as I remember his trust was deep in the negatives, and he had a short username, maybe 4 characters long? The last I've heard from him is 2-3 years ago.

Edit: Found! https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=21728

Let's make this a Dank Remembrance Thread!
3  Economy / Computer hardware / [SOLD] 3 Gridseed Scrypt Asics - Complete mining setup ready to ship on: March 31, 2014, 02:03:54 PM
I just picked these up in a trade last week, but am going to sell and use the money elsewhere  (starting a physical store front).  They have been running solid at 850 clock/361.x Kh/s for 2 days.

3 5-chip Gridseed gold miners
1 10 port usb hub w/ power and cable - this is cheap and some of the ports are touchy, but it works.
1 Power Brick w/ 4 way Gridseed Adapter - 3 taken room for 1 more Gridseed on the cables
4 mini usb cables for the Gridseeds - 1 extra if you pickup a bare Gridseed you will have everything needed to plug in power and usb cable.
1 Old Dell laptop (12" Latitude? It's small can get more details if needed but power adapter for it is UNDER 50 watt so low power usage) if you want it included to make it a complete mining setup.
-Pentium 700Mhz, 256 MB ram, 20? gig hd currently winxp installed with cgminer 3.7.2 (gridseed edition) and zadig driver tool.  ONLY 1 USB port so not sure it will detect a jump drive attached to a hub on boot to boot linux?  Also this does not include cd/floppy drive and not sure battery condition.

Looking for $525 in BTC shipped in the US flat rate USPS for EVERYTHING above.  Will do $500 in BTC shipped without laptop or extra usb cable.  Use coinbase or preev pricing at time of transaction.

4  Other / Off-topic / My wife beginning to believe - In Bitcoin on: March 20, 2014, 03:26:54 PM
So last night I'm sitting at my laptop and my wife walks in and says:

I scheduled a hair appointment for next month do your little bitcoin thing and get me some money!

I just found it humorous that she realized it has been somewhat profitable and a residual income for all the evenings and nights I disappear to the pole barn setting up or fighting with hardware!

That is all!  Cheesy

power switch
2 1x to 16x non-powered risers included
HP/Delta Electronics 800 watt power supply
sata to pcie and/or molex to pcie connectors included

MSI 6850 - occasionally has to be reset as temp shows 510* and quits mining has been mining 2+ days currently stable
HD5830 Extreme - has an aftermarket fan clipped on the heatsink (runs cooler than any other cards I own, but can include a brand new arctic accelero L2 plus)
H6790 - 679F1GD - different fan is glued and spliced on this one as well temp runs fine

4 gig jump drive running BAMT 1.1 can be included if needed would be default install (this one is wrapped in black electrical tape since the casing broke)
This is currently running at 690Kh/s with no overclocking those 3 cards are capable of 780-800Kh/s when overclocked

2 of the cards are hanging from their metal brackets from wires attached to the ceiling they are not magic or floating without assistance!

Rig 4
HP DC5800 motherboard - 1 16x 2 1x pcie slots
3 gigs ram total all 4 slots occupied
socket 775 cpu + heatsink/fan - This socket 775 bracket did not fit right so had cardboard on the underside of the mobo to pull the heatsink tight and the fan is screwed right into the heatsink.
power switch
2 1x to 16x non-powered risers included
HP/Delta Electronics 800 watt power supply
sata to pcie and/or molex to pcie connectors included

HD 5830 Extreme - occasionally artifacts fine after reboot
HIS 6870  - fickle - starts at 0KH/s but mines fine after restart of mining software

No jump drive or hard drive included - this is currently running fine on win7 because bamt complained and would show GPU errors so unknown if BAMT works with this one.
This is currently running at 550Kh/s between the 2 cards with no overclocking those cards are capable of 600+Kh/s when overclocked.  No new pic, but both cards are in this rig now in a "milk crate" frame.  This rig takes time to get working correctly.  Currently win7 64 bit, bfgminer 3.10, 13.12 catalyst, sdk 2.9, cgwatcher restarting bfgminer on hashrate drop or dead/sick cards.  Do not think you will plug this in and go as I kept getting gpu faults within BAMT which is why I switched to Win7, but has been mining fine for 3 days on the above config (bfg miner relaunches 1-2 times a day).

Extra Card Graveyard
HD5830 Extreme - Bare Card does not detect in win or bamt
VT5850 - fan/heatsink - does not detect in win or bamt
6950 - H695FN1G2M - Bare - can throw in a gel icy vision cooler with no mounting screws or hardware with this one - this card had heavy artifacts and would not mine last time I tried installing it
Diamond 6970 - detects by both win and bamt will mine for a second then lock up showing a negative temp reading?
Radeon Ref 5870 - fan driller and oiled - detects in win and bamt - will mine for a few minutes then rate drops to 0

Understanding this is mining hardware and as I did the best to describe any issues it can be fickle as many of you know so would prefer escrow be released on delivery and can work with the buyers.

The 3 HP motherboard do not include system/case fans or USB headers, but they complain on boot about those not being installed so require you to hit F1 on boot.
The PSUs are larger than standard size.  They have the same bolt pattern to attach to a frame etc, but are longer.

Prices listed do NOT include shipping and are given for close to current value; use the USD price to calc at payment time coinbase or preev pricing.

Wanting to ship to the US only will use USPS flat rate with insurance.  Shipping in a large flat rate box w/ insurance should be around $20-25 dollars.

Have done multiple trades with solid trust history, but if required can use trusted escrow understanding this is mining hardware and as I did the best to describe any issues it can be fickle as many of you know so would prefer escrow be released on deliver and can work with the buyers if they are unhappy or unable to get something to work.

Willing to do a package deal for everything 2 BTC/$1350 shipped in the US.

8  Economy / Computer hardware / WTS Feeler - 4 Budget Scrypt Mining rigs/farm - 3MHs stable - 4+MHs possible on: February 18, 2014, 03:52:27 PM
Over time I have built a few lower end budget mining rigs (less expensive components with a focus on ROI).  They are currently sitting on a wire rack, but I am negotiating purchasing 4 open frame cases for them.

I am going to entertain offers for my setup to see how much interest there is in it and determine it's worth.  I am going to use the bitcoin obtained from the sale of these rigs for a local business startup in my town.  This will be a Retail Hobby shop CCGs, RPGs, and Table top miniature games.  There have been other successful hobby stores in my town (17+ years) and I am friends with the owners and one of the former owners is going to be partnering with me for this venture.  YES we will accept bitcoin and once it's up and running I will begin purchasing miners and mine again! Smiley

I would be interested in starting the venture 100% entirely with a bitcoin investment and work with individuals to do some press about it.

I will treat this as a for sale thread, but PM me if you would like to donate or work out possible loan terms to help with the start-up.  I can provide more details if needed!

I will gather more specific details on the systems when I am back at home and post pictures, but here is generally what is included:
(lots of 1x to 16x non powered rises,  misc. fans and different pcie power adapters, etc.)

Radeons
6790 - 200KHs - installed different fan after old one locked - mines fine
6850 - 230KHs - mines for undetermined amount of time sometimes days sometimes hours then goes to 510* and quits - consider this one failing, but possibly fixable?  I did recently reapply heat sink paste and it still happens
5830 - 260KHs - different fan installed on the open heat sink - mines fine - have an extra unopened arctic accelero mono fan, but with the clip on fan that's on it it runs cooler than my other cards so I just left it.
5830 - 260KHs
5850 - 400KHs - arctic accelero mono fan
6870 - 300KHs - This card is troublesome - sometimes mines fine sometimes causes display driver to crash in windows and cgminer must be restarted multiple times to work.  It seems better with some drivers than others, but consider this one failing
6870 - 300KHs
6870 - 310KHs - arctic accelero dual fan cooler
7850 - 330KHs
6950/6970 - 430 KHs
6970 - 430KHs
5870 - 400KHs? - this one I never go working correctly it detects and will run for a short period in BAMT and just slowly drops to no KHs

IF everything were fixed and working with minimal overclocking and tweaking this setup would push 4MHs, but due to issues with a few of the cards noted above It's currently around 3MHs consistently pushes higher than that while I play with the other cards.  The above noted speeds with the exception of the 5850 are non-overclocked speeds.

Have a few other cards that I consider dead 2 are 5800 series bare cards that have no fans/heat sinks that aren't detected by the OS I will have to check the model on the other, but it artifacts and locks the system when you try to mine.

Systems - The HP Boards complain about no USB or System fans connected so you MUST hit F1 on startup to boot those 3 - unless you shorted the pins or installed USB headers and fans these need manual intervention after reboot or power outage.
1 - HP XW4300 motherboard - 1 full size, 1 8x, 1 1x - 2 Gig Ram (4 512 sticks) - socket 775 cpu
2 - HP DC5800 motherboard - 1 full size, 2 1x - all 2 gig ram (4 512 sticks) - socket 775 cpu - 1 of these boards to be delivered tomorrow
1 - MSI - Will get model but 2 full size and 2 1x slots - will get specs on this system

PSUs - These are Delta Electronics/solid PSUs - they are LARGER than standard power supplys, but same bolt pattern...
3 XW9400 Workstation PSUs 800 Watt
1 XW9600 Workstation PSU 1050 Watt

I would prefer pickup in Ohio as it's a LOT of parts to ship and would be a nightmare to try to box everything safely and could also entertain delivery within a reasonable distance.  IF we come to a shipping agreement I would be willing, but it will be costly.

Can do Escrow w/ reputable source if required, but since this is possibly in person may not be needed, understanding this is mining hardware and some of it is finicky and I did my best to describe any issues, but payment would be upon delivery with some flexibility.

Now onto the price 1btc is $616.50 this morning on preev:
Since this is a Feeler and to help me start a physical business I will lay some things out: (would rather not part)
For 10/5 btc offers I would go ahead and purchase and include the open frame racks would need negotiated for less than 5 btc!
10btc Smiley - I'll deliver within 6 hours of central Ohio maybe further and/or host for a negotiated period and work some % ownership/profit share of the business with a set buyout - treated as investor/silent partner
5ish btc/$3000 (5-6 month ROI at .03 per day) I would be willing to host for a negotiated period (can't guarantee up-time, but would be best effort) then deliver within 150 miles or so of central Ohio or you pay shipping
4ish btc/$2500 (4ish month ROI at .03 per day) delivery within 150 miles or pay shipping
3ish btc/$2000 (3ish month ROI at .03 per day) - you pickup or pay shipping

I will run this thread the rest of this week unless someone outright makes an offer I can't refuse at which time I will sell.  At the end of the week/next week I will post an official for sale with item details, pics, etc.

Again this if for a business start-up that will be accepting bitcoin so PM suggestions on possible loans, donations, investors or kickstarter type ventures outside of this thread since this is specifically for the hardware.  I thought about linking this thread to the Loans subsection but didn't want it cluttering multiple threads.

9  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS] MrTeal Chili Miner - 32GHs-39GHs on: February 06, 2014, 03:09:27 PM
I recently purchased a MrTeal Chili from a forum member and am looking to sell so I can upgrade.

The chili is running for me at around 32GHs with an Accelero Mono Plus, but previous owner had it water cooled pushing 39.xxGHs

I am asking .4 shipped in the US including the Accelero which will need to be removed to ship so you will need heat sink paste or a thermal pad to reinstall the cooling solution.  At .4 I can get it in the mail tomorrow or host it pointed at your pool until Monday and then ship.

Options:

Can ship without the cooler for .36 in the US tomorrow or hosted until Monday or if it ships next Monday 2/10 without hosting I will drop the shipped in the US price to .38 with cooler .34 without.

I have completed quite a few transactions here mostly buying items, but have sold a few things as well with a decent trust rating, but can do escrow with trusted member if required you pay!
10  Other / Off-topic / Migraines - Who gets them how do you deal with them? on: January 31, 2014, 04:22:26 PM
I've got migraines as part of my normal life for the past 25ish years.  In grade school I received a concussion and 2 weeks later they began.

Many doctors, specialists, chiropractor etc. we still don't have a cause and no cure but to treat the symptoms.

I get them in waves sometimes it will be months without sometimes it will be a few times a week for a month.

Sleep, Ice, Darkness, and Silence is my "best" treatment, but with a family this is sometimes difficult.

I have tried altering diet removing caffeine, chocolate, msgs etc to no avail.  I've medicated with everything from C0Q10 to imitrex to treximet to anti seizure meds of different types sometimes things seem to help others there is no stopping the freight train.

When I was taking topomax (anti-seizure med) nightly, seeing the chiropractor regularly and treximet at onset they seemed to be managed as in less frequent but that became expensive and funds went elsewhere.  I know oxygen is supposed to help, but that again isn't something I can pick up from the pharmacy on a whim.  Percy Harvin (NFL Receiver) suffers from them as well and has somewhat brought it into the spot light in the US over the last few years, but thoughts on what maybe hasn't been tried or how you deal?

I would be willing to moderate or help, but I have been getting really irritated in marketplace and auctions:

1.  Require Asking Price, negotiable or not, in any subforum for anything you are selling except auctions
2.  Require auction terms
- Start/Stop
-Bid increment
-etc.
3.  Maybe sub forum for those checking prices
4.  Selling Hints (Sticky) - Pictures with date and forum name, Escrow through who or running list of those available/trusted and costs, shipping terms, payment terms etc.

It seems a lot of people get scammed or crap usesles threads are created with little to no info and a lot of BTC flows through the Marketplace here, you can't prevent all scamming, but at least standardize.  I've seen it work on other forums and it would work here to require certain elements to the post and if they aren't there PM the user and post with a  time frame to fix or it will be deleted.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / [SOLVED!]Need PYWallet Help - dumping private key on: January 06, 2014, 04:36:31 AM
Well long story short I had an android wallet on my phone.  I apparently outgrew it as I received an email from the developer that it was running out of memory due to the number of transactions at which time it lost transactions and I can't transfer the btc out because it crashes and shows incorrect amount.

I have a password protected backup of the wallet.dat but the format doesn't import easily into other wallets as I understand it is bitcoinj and not bitcoind if I am reading posts correctly?  I was attempting to use pywallet to dump the private keys so I can then transfer the btc into multibit or something similar so I can send it off to storage.

I don't know python syntax, I am on a windows7 machine and the web interface gives errors when trying to dump the wallet or keys.  I have also tried the following syntax command line:

pywallet.py --dumpwallet --datadir=DATADIR --wallet=WALLETFILE --passphrase=PASSPHRASE

Is there anyone that can help me through this process?  I'll throw a little btc your way!
14  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB] Hashing Power - $52 paypal and .06 BTC to spend on: November 09, 2013, 02:20:20 AM
I want to try something out.  I am looking for Hashing power be it erupters, fury, blade, or scrypt setups etc.

I am seeing where I can get the "Best" deal and the $52 paypal and .06 BTC is what I have to spend ready to send right now.  As I mine I will add to this if I don't find what I think is a good deal for me.  If nothing reasonable comes up no big deal as I can find other uses for it; as ROI is somewhat of a consideration, but I enjoy mining as a hobby and learning as well as the money it makes on the tail end if any!

I understand it's not a lot, but see people giving things away on here at times so thought I'd give it a shot without taking free handouts although I certainly will.

16  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB] Video Card - Gaming, Rendering, and Mining (ATI/NVidia) on: October 15, 2013, 06:32:21 PM
I've got an offer out right now for a 7770 at .3 shipped, but already had one other offer fall through so I figured I'd make a post to have a plan in place if this offer does not pan out.

I am looking for a video card Nvidia 550 series or newer or ATI 5870,59xx, or 6xxx/7xxx series card (prefer newer gen cards even if they aren't as high hash rate).  Although it may be mining in the off hours this card will be doing the following:

In this order
1. Rendering and exporting/converting in 3DS Max
2. Gaming
3. Mining on occasion

I have .4 BTC to spend shipped to continental US/Ohio, and with the BTC price climbing today I believe this is reasonable.

Let me know what you have as I would like it to ship this week.  The better:cheaper the card is obviously what I'm looking for!

Will pay first for a respected member, for someone with negative or no trust I ask that they ship first if possible, not opposed to escrow, but obviously .4 budget doesn't go up for fees!

Thanks,

17  Bitcoin / Mining support / Fried GPU? on: August 23, 2013, 07:04:08 PM
So I'm pretty sure I've lost my first GPU mining.  Yesterday one of my rigs blew a PSU.  Installed a new one and begin hashing away great.....
Watching Afterburner I notice my 6850 that used to run sub 80C was climbing and not stopping It hit 98C before I shut it down.  checked fans, heatsink, and airflow everything ok other cards in system hasing fine at normal temps.  This is at stock settings no overclock.

Anyone else experience something similar and confirm the card is beyond use or repair?  It can not mine 5 minutes at 100% load without approaching 100C.

Thanks,
Nachius
18  Other / Meta / Group Buy Section on: August 15, 2013, 01:05:19 PM
What are the thoughts of further breaking down the group buys?

I am thinking maybe the closed group buys go to an "archived" sub forum and possibly 2 active forums one for physical hardware and one for shares/investments and such?  I just notice it's difficult to find which buys are open and for actual items quickly at times.

"Hello World!"

I'm Nachius, been lurking and learning about bitcoin for a few months and understand I'm a little late to the game, but better late than never still millions of bitcoin left to mine right?

I'm an IT professional have been in the field since around 2000.  I always enjoy learning and came across an article some time ago about bitcoin and started the research path.  I have to say it is pretty addictive.

Started the process of mining as a hobby to see if myself and a few friends can grow something out of it and also to assist with the overall acceptance of bitcoin as a whole.

I have tested CPU mining, GPU mining, and am now running both GPU and asic usb erupters.  I understand bitcoin as a whole knowing that CPUs can not mine profitably and GPUs are approaching that state if BFL and AVALON every ship their product orders in their entirety.  My electricity costs are sunk as I run a small rack of PCs and servers in my pole barn where I have the asic usbs setup and GPU mine on my desktops in the house that are on all the time anyways.  I have convinced a few friends to also work with me to mine "for me" with their gaming desktops that are always on as well when they can spare the time on the machines.  Nothing fancy right now and no huge investment, but overall fluctuate between 1.5GHash and 2.5GHash depending on who is connected and mining.

Primarily a windows guy, but used to be apple certified at one point, and understand *nix well enough to get by
Have been using combinations of guiminer and cgminer primarily and sometimes test with bitminter.

I hope to be able to assist with the community as I am a newbie in the grand scheme of things, but am always willing to help and share my experiences.  I am all too familiar with driver sweeper and trying multiple different versions of ATI drivers across xp and win7 platforms along with the different Stream/SDK revisions as well.  Finding the perfect opencl driver is a challenge at times.  I also went through setting up cgminer with the asic usbs figuring out that the downloaded driver I used didn't work with the newest version of cgminer so went back to 3.1.1 I believe.

Lots of good information on the internet and this forum has helped me get up and running and I want to pay it forward where I can.
