1  Economy / Services / Looking for development work for the summer on: July 29, 2014, 02:03:42 PM
Hey there,

As I've stated on the subject above, I'm currently looking for a programming job for this summer or for some programming projects, because I need to save up to upgrade to a new laptop for uni.

I've been programming since I was about 12. I have experience in shipping web projects using different languages, such as PHP, Python and Go. I've also developed and shipped apps for OS X and Android, using Objective-C and Java. I have some experience in managing Linux servers and MySQL DBs.

Besides this, I've used briefly other programming languages, like Ruby (the one I'm currently learning), C# (back when Windows Phone 7 launched I started to develop an app for it).

I'm looking for some interesting projects. I've to say that I won't compete with things like offering free website development or ridiculously low prices. I don't think I'd take a project for less than 0.3-0.4 BTC.

If you have any projects or gigs, let me know, either by sending me a PM or by posting a reply on this thread.

Thanks!
2  Economy / Gambling / CoinNotify Dice, in-blockchain dice game with 0.9% House Edge[MIN 1.0824x prize] on: July 27, 2014, 04:12:35 PM
Hey there,

I’d like to introduce CoinNotify Dice, an in-blockchain fair dice game.

It’s a SatoshiDice style. We give you 10 different types of bet, depending on the odds and on the risk you want to take. You send an amount to a predefined address and you’ll have a transaction back. We aim for it to be a fast service. Our key differentiator is the house edge. Right now, and as a special opening promotion, we’re offering a 0.9%, for the first 5.000 bets; after that it will be increased to 1%. That means high returns, even higher than SatoshiDice’s.

  • 1CNDM2Nej4nKfhN5L5yc1jx7jvTKKedvd7   91.55% odds – 1.0824x prize
  • 1CNDvppKkSwWzXLq6UcndYNHvYffeYC4vL   85.45% odds – 1.1598x prize
  • 1CND6nSELhte5awGgSoU8NmFFHxxLCYA4L   73.24% odds – 1.3531x prize
  • 1CND7KNdZ485dSfFqiXoKdbaYKAdo4Ei4G   50% odds – 1.982x prize
  • 1CNDiq6dmuFgtCDTFsPPAVUkjF9gd5MK1q   36.62% odds – 2.7062x prize
  • 1CNDWje6yNhzJRk1cjZYeViSDYSHGwNUUS   24.41% odds – 4.0593x prize
  • 1CNDW9Xd2APzgkcy6ZQnvhGFaKCNsNBjD2   18.31% odds – 5.4125x prize
  • 1CND88byDAFmt2biBeYHPxm3E5e34wJTAb   12.21% odds – 8.1192x prize
  • 1CNDC3nDSXpKMymQnDjZS7RLyBqokYqi46   4.58% odds – 21.6556x prize
  • 1CNDNBwKWFKgS61Htozrm9V7jVryyZSFQb   1.52% odds – 65.0102x prize
  • 1CNDkpxc4Yy2MYaUvEzDQsogqw6c4BzEA5   0.3%   odds – 326.3577x prize

You can see the different bets on the website.

The minimum bet amount starts at 0.001 BTC.

As you may expect, CoinNotify Dice is a fair service, and, in fact, you have all the necessary data at your disposal to verify the bets.

And if you happen to have any problems, feel free to PM me, reply this post or send an email to the address stated on the site.

Update 1 (23:00 UTC 27 July): Reflected the new amounts and payment method. We dropped the 50% back and, instead, increased the returns.
3  Bitcoin / Project Development / CoinNotify Alerts, receive a daily or weekly Bitcoin price digest email on: February 22, 2014, 11:54:43 PM
Hi there!

I have developed a service that lets you receive periodic digest emails regarding the Bitcoin price. It is intended to be a simple email digest, to keep you up-to-date but without boring and unnecessary details.

CoinNotify Alerts is available in two flavours:

Daily Subscription:
  • You can receive a daily and a weekly update to get the full picture of the change of Bitcoin value
  • It basically helps me run the service
  • Price: $5/year (paid with Bitcoin)

Weekly Subscription:
  • You receive a weekly status email
  • Price: FREE

To view a sample digest email and sign up, visit http://www.coinnotify.org/alerts/

If you want more information or have any questions, feel free to ask!
4  Bitcoin / Project Development / CoinNotify - Bitcoin Price Conversor In Context on: November 02, 2013, 08:06:26 PM
Howdy!

I want to present my new project, it's a spin-off from the Mac price ticker.

CoinNotify is a Bitcoin price conversor, you input the number of bitcoins and it turns into the equivalent in a fiat currency. Just like preev.

You may be wondering why I have created CoinNotify.
Well, besides the fact I like bitcoins, is that I wanted to keep track of the price, but I'm not constantly looking so CoinNotify puts the current price in context. Right now it shows the last 24-hour trend, but in the future you'll be able to toggle to 12h, 5 days, etc. Moreover, quite a lot of replies to CoinNotify for Mac were that they didn't trust the app, so they will be able to trust this web app.

Another feature I love, is that it periodically (every 5 minutes, right now) shows a notification for the current price. Unfortunately, this feature is, right now, only available when using Firefox.

Don't worry, this is just the beginning! Smiley I'm planning to do interesting things with the bitcoin price information I'm collecting.

So, head to http://www.coinnotify.org, try it, and tell me what you think. Smiley
5  Bitcoin / Project Development / [OSX] Multi-currency BTC & LTC Ticker for OS X's Menu Bar on: August 16, 2013, 07:38:39 PM
Hey there,
Today I'm releasing a BTC and LTC ticker for OS X. It sits on the menu bar, displaying there the last price for the first currency, the other currencies can be seen upon clicking on the price. Right now, it supports 16 combinations of currencies (eg. BTC/USD, LTC/BTC, BTC/EUR…, more info on the webpage: http://ibittler.github.io/CoinNotify/) from 4 different exchanges – if you want others, just say it  Wink. You can set the update interval and the (maximum) number of decimals it displays.

The code is completely open-sourced on its Github page: https://github.com/ibittler/CoinNotify.
You can download it here: https://github.com/ibittler/CoinNotify/releases/ (click the first button to download the compiled version)

If you like the app and you'd like to contribute to the development, you may send a donation to: 12DLbJY48o5vFn3f7eDy7g98yPfo215W4b – if you send one, you can PM me or reply this thread so I'll put you "Thanks" section of the webpage.

Finally, let me know your thoughts and suggestions for this app.
6  Bitcoin / Project Development / [ANN] Crowdfunding an open source bitcoin payment processor on: August 02, 2013, 09:30:35 PM
I'm announcing the start of a crowd funding campaign in Coinfunder for an open source payment processor which accepts Bitcoin, Litecoin, etc: https://www.coinfunder.com/project/view/id/69

Quote
Payment processing is one of the most important parts of Bitcoin-related bussinesses. They depend on it, even though a lot rely on third-party services, which can get hacked, go rogue, or just close – especially if they are free. There aren't any open-source payment processing services that don't lock you into any platform. GCP (GoCoinPay) allows you to reuse a payment processing service. For example, a gambling website, may use the same GCP install for their user account deposits and for their merchandaising store. GCP' API is comatible with Blockchain Receive Payments API.   It doesn't only work with Bitcoin, it also works with Litecoin and other similar crypto currencies that have a similar RPC interface to Bitcoin's one.

The service will be written using Go, a high-performance programming language. GCP has a focus on reliability, speed and scalability. You won't have to worry if you have one transaction or a thousand per minute.

I'm looking for 11 BTC of funding to develop this new payment processing service which will be open sourced on Github.
