With Youtube people make their videos by smartphones or video cameras and upload it on youtube.com. Now there are some 4,500,000,000 internet users.

A youtube video which gets 600,000 views in one month earns some $1300/month.

Example: Python kills alligator video taken by man riding a bicycle

49  Economy / Economics / U.S tells China and India to stop buying oil from Iran on: June 28, 2018, 06:46:35 AM
Washington may slap sanctions on governments that fail to reduce Iranian oil imports to "zero" by early November, a senior State Department official has warned. But some partners seem reluctant to follow the demand. The US administration has been pushing its allies to follow US President Donald Trump's lead after he decided to pull out of the landmark nuclear agreement between Iran and six world powers. A senior State Department official told reporters on Tuesday he had been traveling to Europe and Asia to convince allies to isolate the "stream of Iranian funding."

India and China traditionally used to get a waiver from sanctions and kept trading with Iran even before the 2015 agreement, so speculation is rife as to whether they will manage to find workarounds this time. The State Department acknowledges that cutting off Iranian oil imports completely is a “challenge” that no country “wants to do voluntarily”.

52  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Facebook removes/Unbans Bitcoin & Cryptocurrency Ads on: June 27, 2018, 02:45:17 PM
Facebook is lifting its ban on cryptocurrency ads which went into effect in January. After months of evaluation, the company decided to allow some crypto ads on its platform. Advertisers must submit a request form with details of their businesses and the types of crypto content to be promoted.

Starting June 26, we’ll be updating our policy to allow ads that promote cryptocurrency and related content from pre-approved advertisers. But we’ll continue to prohibit ads that promote binary options and initial coin offerings.

53  Other / Off-topic / Chair breaks in 2 months. Sandals break in 2 minutes (Online Shopping) on: June 26, 2018, 04:15:34 AM
My 2 emails to amazon.com but no reply:

I am a buyer/customer at Amazon.com for past 4 years. Around 3 years back, I purchased sandals from amazon but the sandals (left and right) broke completely in 2 minutes after I started walking. I ignored it since it was Rs 350 sandals. In July 2017, I purchased Rs 850 sandals from amazon but after 6 months there were cracks on the sole. The original price for the sandals in some Rs 2000. So I sent a email to the seller saying "there should not be cracks in Rs 2000 sandals in 6 months but no reply from the seller. I am using the sandals hoping that they will work for 6 to 10 months more. I did not complain/write to amazon about these issues.

I have spoken to middle class people and I have seen the fear in them when they say "if I buy online I may get scammed or bad products and I will lose my money". If I am correct Amazon.in suffered $2 billion loss in year 2017. Now I have written to amazon.in regarding "I purchased and received a chair on April 02, 2018, from amazon seller "Eros General Agencies Pvt. Ltd" but the chair broke in 2 months from normal use when the warranty is for 3 months. I should get a new chair or refund without any question or delay. I spoke to the seller on phone 2 times but they are not accepting their mistake that it is "manufacturing defect".

It took some 6 days for the seller/Eros General Agencies to send the chair to my home. I have been ignoring my bad experiences with amazon.in sellers and I am giving 5 stars rating to amazon.com for past 2 years when I am on the internet. So I expect amazon.in to help me with this broken chair issue. This chair cost me close to Rs 1400.

I am also a internet poster. If I do not get a new chair or refund, I will have to post my bad experiences with products purchased from amazon.com. I cannot mislead people when some amazon seller says "the chair broke in 2 months. It is your fault, you have to spend money to repair the chair"

55  Other / Off-topic / $2 million car abandon at airport on: June 25, 2018, 07:04:00 AM
IT’S not your usual city problem. Forget unemployment, crime and housing issues, Dubai is suffering from a case of abandoned expensive cars.In the last five years, luxury cars including Porsches, Ferraris and Mercedes Benz have been abandoned on the streets of Dubai and left at airport parking lots as their owners flee bankruptcy, hit by the financial crisis.Under Sharia law, the failure to pay back debt is a criminal offence with offenders facing the risk of prison.

It was reported in 2011 that a $2 million rare Ferrari Enzo was even found abandoned in the airport parking lot by police. According to Gulf News, between 2000-3000 cars are abandoned every year in Dubai. A warning notice is first issued and if the owner fails to appear after 15 days the car is impounded and auctioned off for a fraction of their original price.

56  Other / Off-topic / $315,000,000 to move to China on: June 25, 2018, 06:58:36 AM
World Player of the Year Cristiano Ronaldo has turned down the chance to leave Real Madrid for an unnamed Chinese club for a transfer fee of €300 million ($315.24 million), his agent said on Thursday.Speaking to Sky Italia at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, Jorge Mendes said the deal would have been worth €100 million a year to the Portugal striker.“From China they’ve offered €300 million to Real Madrid and more than 100 million per year to the player,” Mendes was quoted as saying.

“But money is not everything. Real Madrid is his life. Cristiano is happy at Real Madrid and it is impossible to go to China.“The Chinese market is a new market. They can buy a lot of players but then again it is impossible to go for Ronaldo.”

60  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / 134 pages of complaints filed to the SEC against Coinbase on: June 21, 2018, 12:30:00 PM
Life savings lost. Desperate cries for help. Allegations of fraud. In the six years since its founding, the San Francisco-based exchange Coinbase has established itself as one of the most trusted places to trade ether, bitcoin, litecoin, and bitcoin cash. It's also run up its share of critics: namely, its customers.

In 134 pages of complaints filed to the SEC and the California Department of Business Oversight obtained by Mashable following a five-month FOIA process, a picture emerges not of a responsible actor in the cryptocurrency space opening the market to new investors, but rather a company overwhelmed by and underprepared for its own success. And the consequences — as expressed by Coinbase's own customers — are enough to give even the most diehard crypto-enthusiast pause.

Money gone and no one homeA recurring theme in the SEC complaint files Mashable obtained is the seeming disappearance of a would-be trader's money, and what is portrayed as an aggressive nonchalance on the part of Coinbase in response to the loss.Notably, the SEC redacted the complaints to remove personally identifiable information. This, while an understandable privacy measure, makes it practically impossible to reach out to the complainants for follow up. As such, we'll mostly let their words speak for themselves. And there are a lot of words.
