182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin War on: October 15, 2014, 08:18:23 PM
When will the first war over Bitcoin commence, and in what form will it take?

Throughout history we have had college textbooks littered with the most grandiose tales of bloody honor and courage in killing ones own fellow man over a finite resource, so why not Bitcoin? When, where, who, and how will the first war over Bitcoins emerge?
183  Economy / Service Discussion / Blockchain.info 'Watch Only' Mode on: October 11, 2014, 11:34:39 AM
Can anyone please confirm to me the fuctionality of the blockchain.info 'Watch Only' mode? Is it that I can add my cold wallet public addresses there so I'd receive the usual blockchain.info text and email alerts if there had been any deposits and withdrawals on the account? If I add my cold wallet address as Watch Only can I later import the cold wallet private key?

TIA
184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin as an Ideal Wins. Bitcoin as a Concept Fails. on: August 23, 2014, 06:39:27 PM
I ideal of a bitcoin that you can spend across the internet is a most beautiful concept. However, the technology behind the concept fails it. Excessive usage charges - I don't get charged each time I use my debit card. Security - my bank guarantees my funds even if they screw up. Speed - it takes seconds to withdraw cash or process a payment by Debit/Credit card. No confirmations needed. My money is accepted around the world at almost each and every merchant - I tried to buy a basket of goods last week with bitcoin and the Marchand couldn't be bothered. So I left. See other thread. No one will ever use or accept bit coin until these problems are addressed  immediately.
185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / First Attempt To Spend My Bitcoins Failed on: August 20, 2014, 04:07:57 PM
There's only one place near me where I can spend my hard earned Bitcoins in a public store. So after only recently finally sorting out my paper and online wallets, I thought that today I would attempt to spend some mBTC in public for the first time. After entering the bustling convenience store I loudly proclaimed with pride to merchant, "Can I pay by Bitcoin here?" After initially expecting a most enthusiast reply to my question, imagine my startled surprise when he replied "Um yes...", "...but I don't have the machine here". He then looks around at the other customers listening and shuffles on his feet. I then say, "okay then I'll take my business elsewhere" before I promptly left leaving my goods behind.

If merchants aren't prepared to adequately provide the means for customers to pay with Bitcoin then this monetary revolution will never take off. I'll be taking my Bitcoins and business elsewhere.
186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Easy Solution to the Denomination of Bit Coins on: July 19, 2014, 10:13:56 AM
Instead of using denominations like mBTC, μBTC etc simply change the name of 1 bit coin to be 1 satoshi and let 1 satoshi be 1 bit coin. In other words if you currently own 10 bit coins they will become 10 satoshis worth 10,0000,0000 bit coins. I think this is the easiest solution.
187  Other / Beginners & Help / MINERS STRIKE! on: June 14, 2014, 09:54:26 PM
What would happen if all bitcoin miners unionised and decided to go on strike? Most likely it's highly unlikely to mobilise such a global union but hypothetically what would happen if one day the mining stopped?
188  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Losers on: June 11, 2014, 12:44:29 PM
Anyone else feel like one of the bitcoin losers? We hear a lot about all the winners, now including some 15 year old child, but very little on the currency's losers. I got swept up in the mania last November and dared to invest my life saving into purchasing 1 bitcoin, just as it was near peak. That turned out to be a terrible purchase for me as the value dropped since, so bitcoin has only ever lost me money. Anyone else in my boots? I'd still like more bitcoins but going on my past 6 months my confidence and trust in this new currency has been shattered.   Cry

How awesome and plausible is my idea?
190  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / 21000000 Bitcoins on: November 30, 2013, 01:01:09 PM
Why 21,000,000 bitcoins? Is there a mathematical reason?

And why 10000000 satoshis make up 1 bitcoin?
191  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Island territory seeks self-sufficiency with virtual currency on: November 29, 2013, 10:27:08 PM
The FT is reporting that Alderney is formulating plans to become the first international centre for Bitcoin transactions.

Alderney's finance minister has had discussions with the Royal Mint on licensing a physical coin, and the Treasury (which oversees the Royal Mint) has invited the Alderney team for talks on how a licensing scheme would work.

If this happens what will the recent $1000 barrier breakthrough seem like peanuts?
192  Other / Beginners & Help / A Wall Of Money Is About To Hit BTC/LTC/NMC on: November 28, 2013, 02:02:01 PM
How likely is the above scenario for each of the BTC, LTC, & NMC currencies? And why?

Thank you.

If I deposit some Bitcoins with a trader like Kraken shouldn't I be earning interest on my bits?
