1  Bitcoin / Meetups / Boise, Idaho Meetup on: March 30, 2018, 09:41:40 PM
Anyone on here interested in a meetup? I work for a software company here that develops blockchain technology, and our head dev Ian is incredibly smart and is willing to do presentations.
Problem is there aren't a lot of people who are publicly into cryptocurrency around here and even less group type events.
If you are in Boise, lets get some co-ordination going. We can supply the space and the presenter, just need to connect the people!
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Anyone willing to give me some pointers on creating my bounty ann? on: March 21, 2018, 06:32:16 PM
Hey guys i am re-doing a bounty i had put out awhile ago that didn't look very good and was poorly set up. So i realized i did a half ass job on it, and went to work recreating the ann post and the rules/campaigns.
I've already put a LOT of work into this so we aren't going to pay anyone else to do it, but im wanting to know if there is anyone out there who would be willing to just take a look at my ANN post, go through the links, ect and tell me what could be improved. If not, i get it but if i dont ask, im not gonna get anyone to do it anyways... Personally i think this one is GOOD compared to the ones im seeing put out there.
3  Other / Off-topic / Interesting Translations... on: March 13, 2018, 10:53:54 PM
There may already be a thread for it... yada yada

I always see posts that are obviously just not translating well, and say some of the funniest things I see on here.

If you see any translations that didn't go as well as they intended... Post them here.

I'll start it off with one that gave me the idea:

Quote
Q: Is Google male or female?
A: Female, because it doesn't let you finish a sentence before making a suggestion.

This one is really amazing! and true! girls are really girls and they will react on the thing they want even you are not done explaining it.
they are just like Amazon that you will be dead in front of your friends if you did not let them do what they want.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / MediaCoin is encrypting digital content to prevent data theft. on: March 08, 2018, 05:16:21 PM
The company behind the Quantum MediaCoin Token (QMCT and QMCTe), MediaCoin, has developed a way to transfer digital content to end users using AES encryption with the delivery of the encryption key being done through a users wallet. This makes it impossible to steal the content without first purchasing the "song" or key. Once the music is played, the file becomes encrypted once more and another purchase is required to view the content. The only way to steal the content at that point is through hardware, not through any available software.
MediaCoin is a software dev company who specializes in encryption, who chose music as their first pet project. Artists have been asking for a secure way to distribute content for about a decade now, and MediaCoin will put them back in the drivers seat.
Having to pay for music is going to piss a lot of people off, but when digital content came out it ruined the economics of music. Now that the content cant just be stolen by the masses, it should start righting the ship.
A few people have asked me "why would people just start paying for music and use that platform?" I always just respond that MediaCoin could care less if people want to pay for music. Its a product and it shouldn't be free in the first place, but it was because it was so easy to steal. Artists will be the one who will be trusting the platform first, then their fans will follow.
There's a common saying "if you build it, they will come" and MediaCoin plans on not being an exception to this rule with the help of the great artists out there. Once the content is there, listeners will follow.
Let me know what you think about this. Personally I am thankful for the free music while it lasted, but we all had to know we couldn't just steal shit forever and not have it end....
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / [ANN][Bounty] Ad-Free Encrypted Content Distribution Platform [MediaCoin] on: March 05, 2018, 10:53:01 PM
The Music Industries First Ad-Free Encrypted Digital Content Distribution Platform- Join the MediaCoin Bounty Program Today!

Bounty Program Dates: 03/5/2018 through 4/10/2018

MediaCoin Bounty Program information available here:  https://bounty.mediacoin.stream/

Visit our website, and read our whitepaper here:  https://mediacoin.stream/

MediaCoin:
Software developer specializing in encrypted content delivery. Using AES encryption on both client and server, combined with the use of a wallet's private key, MediaCoin has developed a platform that will allow artists to distribute their content digitally without the possibility of piracy.

Quantum MediaCoin Token (QMCT or QMCTe):
QMCT and QMCTe will be the token used across the MediaCoin Platform to purchase audio and video files on a pay-per-play, or per session basis.

Artists will choose the rate to view the content per session, or per play, and 100% of the revenue generated from the sales of the content will go directly to the artist's network. We believe that artists should be able to choose how much or how little should be required to view their content.

The Problem
The Music Industry has failed to provide an adequate compensation for the time and talent artists put into making their content, and failed to simply keep that content from being stolen.

In the United States alone, $2.7 BILLION in revenue is lost annually due to content piracy.Digital content theft has become a plague for artists.

The Solution
Using AES encryption methods combined with the delivery of encryption keys to wallet addresses, we have made this possible. This encryption technique uses blockchain technology to revolutionize the way we deliver data today.

To show the capabilities of our software we are starting with the MediaCoin Platform, our plans do not end there. Within 6 months we plan moving toward assisting medical facilities with HIPAA compliance, E-learning and E-campus for schools, and secure live streaming of sporting and entertainment events.

Finally this technology will allow us to become a Meta ISP, and using MVNO cell data, a mobile Virtual Network Operator. For more information, Please read our whitepaper at https://mediacoin.stream/

MediaCoin is running a bounty program prior to and during the launch of the MediaCoin Platform to promote use of the platform, and reach more artists who would like to place their content on the platform.
The information on the bounty program is available here:http://bounty.mediacoin.stream/

6  Other / Off-topic / How do you get better people in your life? on: March 05, 2018, 09:00:29 PM
People always say "you are the company that you keep," "You are the 5 people you associate with most" and yada yada yada..
So we all know, we need good people in our life. I get that and agree 100%..
Problem is that I don't have a lot of prospects right now (Im kinda over the whole "hanging out with a bunch of losers because you know them from high school" thing) and I've been totally out of the bro acquisition game for like a decade...

How do you bros go about getting some new dudes to kick it with that will help you move forward in life?
7  Other / Off-topic / Are there any award winning listeners on here? on: March 03, 2018, 03:27:04 PM
So Ive been listening to the podcast "pardon my take" by big kat and PMT Commenter (and hank) since it came out, and they have started to mention bitcoin multiple times in all their episodes... Are there any other award winning listeners here on BitcoinTalk?? I'm just curious because we could... discuss...
8  Other / Beginners & Help / Any Newbies on here have a steemit account? on: March 02, 2018, 10:01:00 PM
Hey Guys I really like the Steemit network. Ive always felt that there should be some sort of compensation system built into likes, and shares and all that stuff. I am interested in finding other people that have and write original content on steemit because i want to see what they have to say. So i dont really want a bunch of re-posters, i want to read blogs people on here have written.

Also, what are your thoughts on Steemit? Do you think it has some fatal flaw?

The social media that is more commonly used is being monitored and censored more and more, and quality content has no choice but to adapt to the new networks. I feel like any real information that will come out in the future will do so on platforms like dtube and steemit.
What do you think? Do you still trust what you see on FB and Twitter?

I'd love to hear what you all think.
9  Other / Off-topic / How do you really get an article going on Steemit? on: March 01, 2018, 11:53:39 PM
I have some content, and have been posting articles about cryptocurrency on Steemit where i have done some really good breakdowns of complicated crypto news that i know people will like. My problem is that i cant get almost ANY views on steemit. Slowly i am building up, but am I missing something? Do i need a steem whale to rt me? is there some sort of tag i should be using? I am lost on why it is taking me to gain... traction... on steemit... As SNL would say, Whats up with that?
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Encrypted Media Distribution Platform: Quantum MediaCoin Tokens (QMCT and QMCTe) on: March 01, 2018, 08:29:02 PM
MediaCoin: Software developer specializing in encrypted content delivery. Using AES encryption on both client and server, combined with the use of a wallet's private key, MediaCoin has developed a platform that will allow artists to distribute their content digitally without the possibility of piracy.

The Problem
Digital content theft has become a plague on the music industry. Not too long ago, fans supported musicians financially by purchasing their cassette tapes (I don't personally remember this one), records, and CD's. Many great artists of our time have stopped making music because the music industry has failed them. Failed to provide an adequate compensation structure for the time and talent artists put into making their content, and failed to simply keep that content from being stolen.

Users of digital content who would like to support their favorite artists are faced only with a moral dilemma. They can choose to either pay for music that is intentionally over-priced to compensate for piracy, or they can just download the music for free with literally zero consequence. Unfortunately for artists, more and more users every day are choosing the economical route for obtaining their music. This forces artists to find other ways to monetize their popularity, and conditions users to expect music to remain free in the future.

Obviously this is all a giant issue in the industry. Studies have shown that in the United States alone, $2.7 BILLION in revenue is lost annually due to piracy, and leads to the loss of 71,060 jobs to the U.S. economy. This all shows that while the current system may be convenient for users, it is not sustainable.

The Solution
Digital Content started this problem, and can be the solution. If the digital content were unable to be stolen, order would be restored to the industry, and it can continue forward like the well oiled machine it once was. With MediaCoin's never used before encryption technique, we have made this possible.

On the MediaCoin Platform the Quantum MediaCoin Tokens (QMCT and QMCTe) will be the currency used to purchase audio and video files on a pay-per-play basis. Artists will choose the rate to view the content per session, or per play, and 100% of the revenue generated from the sales of the content will go directly to the artist's network. We believe that artists should be able to choose how much or how little should be required to view their content.

We are currently allowing early adopters of the platform to join in (both artists and users) by allowing artists to submit their content prior to launch for the chance to be a featured artist, and by allowing users to participate in a token sale, allowing them to purchase tokens at a specified rate prior to our token being listed on an exchange. More information about the token sale is available here: http://tokensale.mediacoin.stream/

MediaCoin will be correcting the music industry, and putting an end to piracy. On the plus side for consumers of content, your artist will set their own price, you will be supporting them directly, great artists will be able to survive financially off of the music they create and will be able to continue making music, and music will be much less expensive than it has been off of legitimate platforms such as iTunes as the pricing needed to account for the stolen music.

Many of us know that cryptocurrency and blockchain technology are changing the world we live in. There are thousands of industries that are just beginning to discover the benefits of this technology, and integration is happening sooner rather than later. Digital content issues and a global audience makes the Music Industry a prime candidate for blockchain integration and MediaCoin wants to make sure that artists and users are the ones who benefit.

11  Bitcoin / Legal / Great news legally for blockchain technology. "Utility Tokens" and "Exemptions" on: March 01, 2018, 08:18:40 PM
Wyoming House Unanimously Approves Two Pro-Blockchain Bills

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/wyoming-house-unanimously-approves-two-pro-blockchain-bills/

The article posted above describes what lawmakers are currently doing regarding cryptocurrency and blockchain technology legislation, which is currently setting the framework for other states. Laws have been passed in other states such as Arizona regarding making tax payments in the form of cryptocurrency, but Wyoming seems to be the first one tackling some major areas that the SEC has stated needs to be addressed.

Legislature in Wyoming was looking to pass two blockchain bills (HB 70 the “utility token bill”, and HB 19 the “bitcoin bill”) before sending them to the State Senate for consideration. HB 70 defines utility tokens as neither traditional money nor securities; HB 19 exempts cryptocurrency from the 2003 Wyoming Money Transmitter Act (which was passed in the state before Bitcoin’s invention in 2008)."

Fortunately for users and advocates of cryptocurrencies both bills passed and will now be sent to the State Senate, where sources familiar with state legislature say it may be a bit more difficult to pass through there. Nonetheless, this is a win for blockchain and cryptocurrency and sets the stage with a precedent for other states to follow.

Luckily for MediaCoin, the Cryptocurrency I work for, we anticipated this and set up shop as a Utility Token a while back, so this is exactly what we were expecting to see. Expect more of the same to come through, state by state. Blockchain Technology and Cryptocurrency will be integrated with time, simply because of the advantages it presents over existing solutions.

Until next time.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Good News – a solution for Independent Musicians will launch on March 1st. on: February 23, 2018, 05:35:47 PM
It is an ad-free digital music outlet called MediaCoin and it’s completely free for creative artists. You continue to own the rights to your music and you keep almost all of your revenue from sales.

To prevent piracy, after you upload it, MediaCoin encrypts your content.

Just so you know, I’m a MediaCoin employee. But I can answer most of your questions and help you get started with disrupting the current system, which I think you’d agree is broken AF.

If you get in early, there’s the added benefit of possibly being featured in the company launch.

In the meantime, here’s a link to an interview with MediaCoin’s founder that has plenty of good info in it:

13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What is a good, short introduction video for Bitcoin on: February 13, 2018, 08:41:23 PM
Hey guys I have been trying to educate the people around me about BTC and blockchain tech, but am ending up getting a lot of blank stares.... I have tried to break it down to the smallest pieces when i explain it all, but nothing seems to be working... it seems like people are forming more questions in their head instead of actually listening, and i am growing quite weary (as charlie from sunny would say) of explaining the same thing over and over to people...
Can anyone point me to a good, short (like 5 min) video that gives a quick introduction to BTC that gets people thinking in the right direction??
14  Other / Off-topic / Do you think Aliens or Artificial Intelligence created Bitcoin? on: February 13, 2018, 07:10:28 PM
I heard someone talking the other day about the creation of the bitcoin protocol. They seemed to be dead-set on aliens being the origin of BTC, and the other side of the conversation was of the opinion that Satoshi Nakamoto is an artificial intelligence.
Their basic idea was that the human race seems to be digressing and this was a way to introduce a technology that will help us progress in the cosmic arena since we weren't coming up with it ourselves. We are being divided through religion, race, gender, and political affiliation and started to focus our energy on destroying each other instead of moving forward as a human race.
So, they theorized that either a non-human species or artificial intelligence gifted us BTC simply to introduce blockchain technology to humans. This would explain why we do not know who Satoshi Nakamoto is. Basically, once Blockchain tech was introduced, we would further integrate the tech into our world through morphic resonance.
I have to say, it does make a little sence. Although I have some reservations about the supernatural stuff, i found the topic to be really engaging...
What do you guys think? Is it alien? AI? Can you disprove it all? do you have any strong feelings either way?? Im curious....
15  Other / Politics & Society / Should digital content piracy be stopped? on: February 13, 2018, 06:46:09 PM
Hey guys, im wanting to get a feel from the people out there on where you stand with digital content piracy.
As we all know, music piracy specifically has run rampant since the days of napster and limewire. Music is easily downloaded for free and shared, without the content creator ever getting paid directly by those who are listening to the music. Nowdays the artists seem to almost have embraced this (because it is how it is, and they don't have much of a choice), and are paid by middlemen most of the time excluding sales from their shows and merchandise.
Some people do purchase the music they enjoy on Itunes for example, and that price is dramatically higher than it could be in order to account for all the illegally downloaded music. So some pay the burden, while everyone else listens for free. Its been this way for awhile because the tech was never there in the past to protect artists.
Ok, so THAT said, the tech is here now to encrypt digital media and protect artists. My question to you is:
Would you pay for the music you enjoyed if the price were a matter of a few cents so that your favorite artists could be compensated by you?
If an artist made it impossible to download their new content, and you did have to pay a small fee to get it, would you just stop listening to them?
Do you feel like completely free music is something you are entitled to at this point?

I'm just trying to get a feel on weather or not it would be worth it for the music industry to offer this to musicians... I feel the widespread free music over the last decade might have ruined the consumer end of the industry, as everyone may feel they shouldn't have to pay for music... which is wild to me... back in the day you had to wait for your songs to be on the radio, or you could buy their CD's...
Personally, I feel like artists have a right to be paid for the content they produce, and it shouldn't always mean a middleman decides how much they get paid. (like streaming services or youtube) BUT what i think doesn't really matter that much.
What do you think?
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Bounty Program for my ICO on: February 12, 2018, 09:13:27 PM
Hey guys I am part of an ICO, and have been dubbed the task of creating our bounty program. I have been an AVID reader of Bitcointalk.org for years now, but never created an account as my concerns were generally pretty well answered by the community... Which i realize now... was not smart.
THAT said, I am getting started with my interaction. I work for a crypto in ICO phase, and want to get some advice from the community about Bounty Programs. Here they are:
1. What is something you like to see in bounty programs that is missing from my list?
2. What is a respectful way to go about promoting awareness of my companies program without spamming the airways?
Currently I have added bounty for bitcointalk.org, FB, YT, Twitter, Reddit, and a multiplier for contributed/media content. Obviously i know the community digs this kind of thing, but seeing how i never took the time to create an account and actually interact, I feel I am at a severe disadvantage, and any help i can get on these topics (and anything else you have to say) will be highly valued and respected.   Huh Huh
I appreciate all the help I've gotten silently from you all over the last few years. Thanks!
