1  Economy / Services / What are the best alternatives to Meetup.com on: July 09, 2020, 02:24:01 PM
Meetup recently has suffered from some backlash to some new pricing models is proposed. They have since backpedaled but for many, the damage has already been done and the trust has been damaged. This comes two years after Meetup made some changes that made it significantly worse for organisers to manage their communities as well as being taken over by WeWork who are currently facing financial difficulties — something many has suggested as the reason for exploring new profitability strategies with Meetup.com. Following Meetup rescinding their proposed payment model I have since received an email informing me that my organiser subscription will be increasing from $14.99/month to $16.49/month.

2  Economy / Services / Frustrated of meetup - any alternative on: July 01, 2020, 04:22:26 PM
Hi I have been managing a group on meetup from last 3 years. Even though with this Covid-19 I kept paying for my monthly charges.

Now I got to know that they have increased the charges and I really don't think so there is any value in meetup except bringing people to my group which I already have in my city.

Can you suggest if there is any other alternative with a cheaper pricing model and similar features?

1 feature I would like to have emails to all group members

I have found this platform while I was searching for meetup london. it seems promising has anyone else tried it?
3  Other / Off-topic / What Does Dummy Thicc Mean? on: May 07, 2020, 09:16:52 PM
One of my friends asked me today What Does Dummy Thicc Means.
This is something new came into American slangs recently. You might confuse this term and understand that "dummy thicc" means a wooden puppet. But let me correct you here. It is not.

But because you had a curious mind and you wanted to figure out what is the meaning of dummy thicc you landed on this blog post.

In order to understand what this slang Dummy Thicc means you have to first split it into two parts.

  • Dummy
  • Thicc
And you need to first understand the second part first. The term Thicc describes a female whos has a full figure. She must have a curvy waist and a big bottom.

Because the combination of all 3 things actually makes her "thicc"

Actually, you could say that a female with a full-figured body and curvy waist with even bigger bottom than usual could fit perfectly as an example for this word dummy thicc.

So let me know if this makes any sense.
4  Other / Off-topic / Are you a bitcoin startup looking for funding under £50k? on: March 11, 2020, 04:13:10 PM
Hi, Are you a startup and looking for investment under £50k. If yes then please read below.

I am writing a new blog post titled: "21 bitcoin startups looking for funding under £50k"

Now you might be already aware of that; in investment world. Getting funded over £50k cause a lot of financial pain to investors. Hence they are always looking for new startups with less than £50k needs.

I use to run a meetup group in Newcastle with more than 1500 members. Out of which I have more than 10% investors from United Kingdom.

As I continuously write content related to startups. Some of them reached out to me to curate a list of startups looking for investments less than £50k.

So if you are interested to be on my list then please send me following:

  • One image of your startup dimensions: 1280x720
  • 200 words explaining your startup
  • If you have a website or app link where investors can go and have a look.
  • Your team and business canvas link (Optional)

I will be publishing this blog post end of this month. So please make sure you provide me following asap.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any queries.
5  Other / Off-topic / Can I use BitCoins for my portal subscription? on: November 12, 2019, 06:20:57 PM
Hi, I was not sure about where to ask these questions hence I thought I will just post it here.

I am working on a portal where people will publish there content.

Also just like YouTube other people could subscribe to that writer and get notified respectively.

But in order to monetise it. I am thinking to create a bulk email functionality so that a writer could send an email to all of his/her subscribers.

for that, you need to subscribe with a fee.

I know that I can achieve it via PayPal or Stripe. But which payment gateway should I use to get it integrated with bitcoins?

My Portal is still under construction but if you want to register your interest here is the link https://www.blognow.org/
6  Other / Off-topic / Dating in Derby New Website on: July 01, 2019, 10:44:40 PM
My buddy is asking for help on his new dating site "https://meetderby.com" and while I see where I can fine-tune the SEO on this site, I am unfamiliar how dating sites build up their traffic and databases.

Does anyone have some tips on how a new dating site gets itself known to the public?

Also, can anyone comment in general on this dating site compared to other sites you are familiar with?

Many thanks.

9  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Blockchain based online portal on: September 10, 2018, 01:32:47 PM
Hi it might sound silly but I dont really understand how blockchain technology could be implemented. Hence I am posting this question here.

What I am trying to do is; create an online portal where people will register and save their information.

But instead of saving users information in a usual database what I want to do is; I want to store them in blockchain.

For example:

I register on a website and then I create a book and start writing the first page.

once the first page is finished click on save button.

Now, this information should create a block and could be only opened by its author.

So everytime i add another page it should create a block and add to the blockchain.

my query is where will this blockchain saved? in database? or its a raw file which user could download on their own computer?

11  Other / Beginners & Help / Should I invest in Bitcoin in late 2018? on: June 23, 2018, 12:44:01 PM
Hi All,

As a beginner and constantly learning about bitcoins.
Bitcoin prices are very unpredictable and hence it seems to me that investing in bitcoin is high risk.

I just wanted to know that is it a good idea to invest in Bitcoin in late 2018?

I am thinking to keep some money invested in bitcoins for at least 2 months. Will it be worth it?
12  Economy / Services / Content Distribution Network on: June 21, 2018, 09:30:33 AM
Hi Pals,

First of all please forgive me if I am not allowed to ask this type of questions on this forum. If it's not allowed please let me know and I will delete it.

I am planning to start a new service which will help content marketers to hire content writers as well as grab opportunities for paid guest posting.

Do you think its a good idea?

Currently first proof of concept looks like this: https://www.idistribute.org/

I am also looking for some help with moderation.

I am a beginner hence need some senior members supervision.
