What would it take to create an artificial Sun?

I want to see an orbiting light warm enough to melt a section of Antarctica say 5k km2 in size to make room for several cities. It will be more like a large garden than a planet but it would be a stepping stone to the real thing.

It could start with a light powerful enough to melt less than 1 km2 as an experiment and evolve from there.

OK not really but I've read the "rocket scientists" have been lying about how rockets work; I've learned that rocket engines don't actually work in a vacuum.

Of course you ask "but why would they lie, I don't understand". They lie because they're hiding the fact the Earth is flat and there is no space to travel to or in. We're inside a giant underwater terrarium and atmospheric life is an artificially created novelty.

Need proof? Differently shaped rocket nozzles produce varying degrees of thrust depending on atmospheric pressure.
63  Other / Off-topic / Google keeps Handicapped 64-bit Androids in 32-bit Containers on: September 06, 2015, 11:08:19 AM
I've found the following articles.

http://www.extremetech.com/computing/191744-android-l-64-bit-preview-finally-released-but-only-for-x86-wheres-armv8-google
http://www.fudzilla.com/35070-android-l-brings-art-64-bit-runtime

I got side tracked and made the horrific discovery while plotting to install the 64-bit version of Android Lollipop on my AMD "64-bit" CPU/dogecoin miner.

It's a resurrection of old dead x86-64 CPU PCs with Android; they're coming for the live ones folks! With a 2x increase in computing power these living dead will feast upon the minds of their living users.

64  Other / Off-topic / bitcoind (core) offline/dead due to 9W LED light on: August 26, 2015, 03:14:44 AM
OK, get this.

I'm listening to some trap music on youtube and frying up some bacon when suddenly the music stops. Then there's this massive power surge, I'm like WTF. I check my computer and the screen is blank but the computer is still powered on, fan going lights on.

Then I can smell this burning smell and it wasn't the bacon, smelled like smoke from an electrical fire. So I poke around and find the source is the plug going to my lamp with a 9W LED light bulb in it. The lamp is still on and functioning normally, I'm like WTF.

So I unplug it and can see the inside of the plug is fried as it's made of translucent plastic. It's like the light was shorted and the solder connection inside the plug being the point of highest resistance lit up.

So then I cycle the power on my computer and win 10 starts to boot but, I can see it says it's loading updates... massive updates... after 5-10 mins it reboots itself and the GUI pops up. I've got bitcoind and p2pool on startup. bitcoind is currently dead and wont start and I'm sitting in the dark (I'm sure I'll get it going again, eventually).

On the up side I got the trap music going again and the bacon was delicious.

So much for the latest attack on Bitcoin, $222 and climbing on BTC-e.  Tongue

Based on my analysis of apparently altered historical events (see The Berenstæin Bears thread) and years of movie and sci-fi propaganda I suspect "they" currently have a functional time machine.

While I suspect the John Titor story is a complete fabrication created by "them" they do provide some interesting technical drawings of their time machine:

Is the Moon a hologram?

I've crafted the following image depicting how this might work:

Based on following what would be the weight of an average person at the equator if the equatorial velocity was slowed to 0.8 m/s?

Earth's radius at the equator: 6,371,000 m
Earth's velocity at the equator: 464 m/s
Average weight of a person: 84,000 g
formula: centripetal_force = mass * velocity^2 / radius

Please provide the answer in grams and show your work!

This company and the Romanian criminals living in the UK who run it have absolutely no intention of delivering on their promises.

If you're thinking of investing in their scrypt ASIC STOP, there are other manufactures out there who won't bend over backwards to make sure you get screwed.

77  Economy / Speculation / Bitcoin Is Making Progress on: July 10, 2015, 09:40:36 AM
Due to the recent upward surge in the price of BTC Bitcoin has come under severe attack. The attacks are costing the attackers money but they're failing to shut down the network.

I'd like to report that in spite of the attacks transactions (with a reasonable miner fee) have been going through with no problems.

Kind of and odd day today, it's got that "the end is near" feeling.

So I took a picture:

That was an hour ago, the sky is now glowing orange and all the street lights are still on.
