221  Other / Meta / Forum post count problems on: March 13, 2016, 07:56:41 PM
While I was looking at Chris!'s profile (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=662129) to figure out why his requests kept failing on my site, I noticed that there seem to be a few post count counting problems on this forum.

If you look at Chris!'s profile (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=662129), you will notice that the post count is reported as 187. However if you look through his show posts pages (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=662129;sa=showPosts), you will notice that the count of the posts there do not match up with the reported post count. The counts are in the upper left hand corner of each post and the last post listed (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=662129;sa=showPosts;start=180) has a count of 189, not 187.

In fact, for nearly every user that I have looked at, their post count in the profile is actually one above what the count is in the show posts page.

Why is this so and is this a bug?

Also, I understand why there would be post counts reported as above the number shown in show posts since some users have posts in hidden boards like staff boards or the trashcan. Those posts are in the post count but not in the show posts pages. What I don't understand is why there would be a post count reported as less than what is in the show posts pages.

223  Economy / Services / [ANN] Achow101's escrow service on: February 22, 2016, 11:17:23 PM
My name has changed from knightdk to achow101. See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1609738.0.

I am now opening an escrow service!

Always wait for or ask for a PGP signed message from me before sending me any Bitcoin. Always verify the message you receive.

I will no longer be escrowing Forum Account sales.

I will escrow nearly everything so long as it is legal. Some examples:
Digital trades (e.g. Bitcointalk accounts, domains)
IPOs/ICOs (e.g. altcoin IPOs)
Signature Campaigns
Physical trades (e.g. miners)

I can do both 2 party and multi party escrows.

I am offering two types of escrow, traditional and multisig.
Traditional escrow requires that you trust me to hold onto the funds and release them when requested.
Multisig is using a multisignature Bitcoin address which does not require that you trust me to not steal the funds.

I will be charging fees for my services. The following is a baseline but they can be decreased and negotiated
Private party escrow (e.g. product trade): 0.01BTC or 1% of the trade value, whichever is greater
Multi-party escrow (e.g. Sig campaign): 5% of the amount

How to conduct an escrowed trade
1. Contact me through PM to initiate the escrow. Make sure that the message you send contains who the buyer and seller are, how much is being paid, who is paying the fee, and whether to use multisig. I will assume by default the trade will be using traditional escrow
2. I will respond with a PGP signed message with instructions which will contain the details of the transaction and where the Bitcoin should be sent.
3. If any dispute arises, I will be the judge and resolve it as fairly as possible. I will make a decision and release the Bitcoin to the proper parties. I will remain neutral throughout the dispute.

Contact
Bitcointalk PM: This is the only method through which I can be contacted and the only method through which any escrow instructions will be sent.

I am online at the following times (all EST):
Weekdays: 4:00 PM - 10:00 PM (sometimes I will be on earlier but on mobile so I may not be able to provide escrow)
Weekends: 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM

My PGP Public Key
This is my PGP public key, always make sure that any instructions that I send are signed with this PGP key. It can also be accessed at https://keybase.io/achow101/key.asc

225  Economy / Scam Accusations / potential scammer BtcCasinoOwner on: January 25, 2016, 10:38:53 PM
What happened:: I was contacted by this person who said he was asking me to work with him by being an admin at an online casino. We exchanged skypes and then he told me to visit the casino web page. The site is btcluckycasino.com/ (<--- BEWARE, POTENTIALLY MALICIOUS SITE) which is an exact clone of https://www.luckybtccasino.com/, down to the links and everything. This site is potentially a phishing site for luckybtcasino user's logins. Then he directed me to the admin page btcluckycasino.com/admin.php(<-- BEWARE MAY CONTAIN MALWARE) where the page required that the user download adobe flash in order to access the page. Of course I downloaded the file, but did not run it. This is the result of a virustotal scan on it: https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/fe8228f67b1faae45dffe7f1aa754d89650b4d20c67f2dc1033683b1aae9663c/analysis/. At this point, I told him this was very suspicious, he claimed it was to "get users" and that he had "coders" who made the site which made it look like that and have that behavior.

Seems interesting. What is the website and how successful do you think it will be? I will take a look. I don't really have a lot of time right now, but I should have some more time in a week or two. I can still help out during that time though, just maybe not as much as I could.

[5:06:11 PM] Pasha BitcoinTry Main Admin: so you looked on my site?
[5:06:14 PM] Pasha BitcoinTry Main Admin: what can you say
?
[5:06:42 PM] A C: I have looked at it briefly, not in depth yet.
[5:06:51 PM] A C: I am currently a little busy with some other stuff though
[5:07:26 PM] Pasha BitcoinTry Main Admin: okay I just saying : I need from you 2-3 hours online .I pay 1.5 btc per week of working,
[5:08:07 PM] A C: is that 2-3 hours per week or per day?
[5:08:39 PM] Pasha BitcoinTry Main Admin: 5-6 hours per week
[5:09:52 PM] A C: I will be able to do that, although the times I am online might not be very consistent
[5:09:57 PM] A C: What is it that you need me to do?
[5:11:35 PM] Pasha BitcoinTry Main Admin: you have to do some not hard things, its will not take much time , I described all you need to know in Admin panel FAQ
[5:11:41 PM] Pasha BitcoinTry Main Admin: sec I will give you access to admin panel

[5:12:14 PM] Pasha BitcoinTry Main Admin: nope I will give you logs from admin panel

[5:15:07 PM] A C: seems very suspicious. The admin panel requires an old version of adobe flash.
[5:15:16 PM] A C: your site is a clone of luckybtccasino.com
[5:15:57 PM] A C: no site for an admin panel should require adobe flash
[5:16:03 PM] A C: it is simply bad design
[5:16:32 PM] Pasha BitcoinTry Main Admin: Yea codders said me what their admin panel requires 15 version of flash player- I updated it
also yeah its looks like luckybtccasino but I will change desighn on this week , some group of codders making uncial desighn for my casino
[5:16:38 PM] Pasha BitcoinTry Main Admin: they said tomorrow
[5:16:41 PM] Pasha BitcoinTry Main Admin: its will be finished
[5:16:49 PM] Pasha BitcoinTry Main Admin: don't worry man
[5:18:33 PM] Pasha BitcoinTry Main Admin: I did it like luckybtccasino to advertise for beggining
[5:18:37 PM] Pasha BitcoinTry Main Admin: i will change it soon
[5:18:56 PM] Pasha BitcoinTry Main Admin: you can see new types of desighn in admin panel I'm added here exemples
[5:18:57 PM] A C: I am calling bullshit on this one
[5:19:14 PM] A C: everything on the site links to luckybtccasino, not to btcluckycasino
[5:19:51 PM] Pasha BitcoinTry Main Admin: ye its only for now to get traffic/and users
[5:21:28 PM] A C: No, it does not. In no way shape or form would having every single thing that is a link on that page be linked to luckybtccasino be able to get users.
[5:21:44 PM] Pasha BitcoinTry Main Admin: i will fix it tomorrow..
[5:22:04 PM] Pasha BitcoinTry Main Admin: also I'm going to buy advertising for 5000$ so our casino will get famous soon
[5:22:08 PM] Pasha BitcoinTry Main Admin: and we get very good profit
[5:23:36 PM] A C: I will check tomorrow. If it still requires flash and is an exact clone of luckybtccasino in 24 hrs, then I will be opening a scam accusation against you
[5:24:23 PM] Pasha BitcoinTry Main Admin: whats your problem lol
[5:24:55 PM] A C: In fact, I think I might just do that now to prevent you from being able to potentially scam people.
[5:25:05 PM] A C: The problem is that your site has every indication of being a scam attempt
[5:25:19 PM] A C: You ask people through PM to work for you for a really nice pay.
[5:25:33 PM] A C: Then you direct them to an admin page which requires that the person downloads a software that is probably a virus
[5:25:51 PM] A C: The site itself is an exact clone of luckbtccasino.com's frontpage
[5:26:00 PM] Pasha BitcoinTry Main Admin: look
[5:26:03 PM] A C: It even has all of the links and such still pointing to luckybtcasino
[5:26:03 PM] Pasha BitcoinTry Main Admin: beside
[5:26:03 PM] Pasha BitcoinTry Main Admin: you
[5:26:06 PM] Pasha BitcoinTry Main Admin: IT IS A BEAR
[5:26:24 PM] A C: need I say anymore?

Additional Notes: This is probably a scheme that he will be attempting on many other users to get them to download the software which is probably malware.

Anyone know how to remove a watch only address from Bitcoin Core? I have a watch only address in my Bitcoin Core wallet that I don't want there but I can't figure out how to delete it. There is no RPC command for it that I could find and pywallet doesn't seem to be able to remove it.

230  Other / Meta / What can banned accounts do? on: December 12, 2015, 04:41:23 AM
What exactly can a banned account do? What can they read, what can they change, etc.

I want to know this because I may have the account that I use for part of my account price estimator banned (as in ask a staff member to give it a permaban). I would want this because I fear I may one day accidentally publish the password for the account on giving when I publish each new code update. I don't want random people to be able to access the account and post from it. However before making such a request, I need to know whether having that account banned will work for my purposes.

Also, having that account banned wouldn't get me banned for ban evasion since I will have requested that it be banned, right?
231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Standardizing Tech support help requests on: December 09, 2015, 11:46:29 PM
So I have been seeing here on the Technical Support forum for a while that most tech support requests start with a long back and forth of question and answer. The OP posts a question, but without details and then people follow and post asking for OS, debug.log, more details, txids, addresses, etc.

I propose that we create a standard form for tech support requests where this unnecessary posting is eliminated and all of the necessary details are provided in the OP so that the members here can immediately help the OP without a long back and forth of just details and not actually helping.

Here is my proposed format:

Wallet Software and version number:
Operating System:
System Specs:
Problem description:
Any related transactions ids:
Any related Bitcoin addresses:
Screenshot of the problem:
Debug log if Bitcoin Core:

The screenshot can be uploaded to any image hosting site and the link either posted or the image embedded.
The debug log should be the last several hundred lines and posted in code brackets.

Potential Activity: 160+
Post Quality: Pretty good (Good according to bctalkaccountpricer.info)
Trust: Neutral

Starting Bid: 0.04BTC
Minimum Increment: 0.005BTC
Buy It Now: 0.09BTC

The auction will end on December 02, 2015, 10:00:00 PM in your local time (because I used special BBCode it displays in your time Grin)

The winner must either use an escrow (and pay all fees) from this list: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=855778.0 or send first.

A signed message is available but the address staked is only a few weeks old because I forgot to stake an address when I acquired the account.

234  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / gui for some rpc/console commands on: November 03, 2015, 04:19:39 AM
How come some of the console/rpc commands don't have a gui version for Bitcoin Core? Stuff like the multisig addresses or the accounts that can be done through the console don't have a gui in Bitcoin Core that would make it much easier for users. Why is that?

I will attempt to write the gui stuff, but first I need to figure our how Bitcoin Core does its gui through QT and how to modify it.
235  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / tampering with bip70 payment requests on: October 26, 2015, 11:47:13 PM
From what I can understand, if a payment request isn't signed using an X.509 certificate, then there isn't anywhere in the request that is hashed or signed to verify its integrity. So how does it prevent tampering with the request between the server and the user if no authentication is used? Or is there no such mechanism?
236  Economy / Scam Accusations / [RESOLVED] scam accusation against user tautvilis on: October 12, 2015, 11:54:12 PM
What happened:: Tautvilis hired me to write him a program which I did and we used an escrow. That deal went smoothly. Then, he hired me again to create a simple on chain dice site, which I also did, but we did not use an escrow. For this deal, he has not paid me yet. We agreed to a price of 0.1BTC which we later upped 0.12BTC. I have repeatedly pm'ed him about payment, but he has not responded to my latest PMs. He claimed (on the first pm) that he was waiting for another user who apparently actually hired him to find someone to do the job. He did not say who that was. The site is http://ashdice.tk/.

Well it seems to be working.Don't think that I will not pay, I have contacted one person(I will not reveal his identity) and don't think that I am selling him the site cause I don't even have access to the server and I don't need it you can run my site I don't care about it.If he responds positively than I release the funds if not I say why.He ussually logs in every day or two and last time he logged in yesterday so I guess he will login soon.

Best regards,
tautvilis
You gonna pay?
You gonna pay?
OH man I got so exited that that person finally responded and it was you.I am opening this site every 5 mins just to see if he responded. It's pretty akward that he had already logged in twice but hadn't responded me.I am waiting for the monday I hope he will respond then.In the mean time maybe add some colors or something if you have time. And yes I am going to pay.

Best regards,
tautvilis
That was the last I had heard from him. Since then I have pm'ed him multiple times, but he never responded
When I take the the site down, I will also open a scam accusation against you. If you tell me who the person that asked this from you is, then the scam accusation will be against him, with you simply mentioned as the middleman. The first option will definitely get you red trust, the second probably not.

Or you could just pay me.
one day warning
Your time is up. I will be opening a scam accusation against you now.

Additional Notes: Although in the PMs I said I would take the site down, I am leaving it up just to show that I actually did the work. I know I also said that I would do this on the 11th, but I was busy yesterday so I am doing it now.

Also, I think this user may be yakuza699 since he sent me a pm where he signed it with yakuza699 instead of tautvilis.
Good. It's almost done. But a lot of testing might be needed because I might have done the blockchain wrong.
How much longer will it take?

Best regards,
yakuza699

237  Other / Meta / PSA: ACCOUNTS WILL BE LOCKED IF THE SECRET QUESTION IS USED TO RECOVER IT on: October 12, 2015, 09:52:12 PM
This is a Public Service Announcement:

If you lose your password, DO NOT USE THE SECRET QUESTION TO RECOVER THE ACCOUNT. It will result in your account being locked. Please use the email recovery option to recover the account.
The reason that the accounts are locked is because the May 2015 hack leaked Bitcointalk's database which did not securely secure the Secret Question and Answer. To prevent people from guessing the answers, theymos made it so that accounts that are recovered using the secret question are automatically locked when the option is attempted. This is to prevent hackers who may be able to guess the answers from the leaked database.

If you have had your account locked, to recover it, please send and email to the email displayed on your screen when you try to login. You can also create a new account and pm both theymos and badbear. In the email and PM, to prove your identity, You MUST sign a message with a bitcoin address that you have posted previously, at least 2 months prior. Please be patient. Theymos and BadBear are busy people. Your email or pm may become lost among all of the other stuff that they have to do. You should resent your email and pm once a week so that they will see it and get around to you. If you need help signing a message, check this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=990345.0

If you haven't lost your password yet or you have regained access to the account, don't set the secret question, it can be a hassle. Make sure that you have the email set to an email address that you can access. That will make everything so much easier and will not require the long recovery process.
238  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Vulnerability in Miniupnpc library used by bitcoin core on: October 12, 2015, 03:52:05 PM
Apparently the miniupnpc library that bitcoin core uses has a buffer overflow library which makes it possible for someone in the local network to crash bitcoin nodes on that network. It may also be possible to carry out other attacks, but that has not yet been confirmed.

More info here: https://bitcoin.org/en/alert/2015-10-12-upnp-vulnerability
239  Economy / Scam Accusations / diggit.io scam accusation on: October 10, 2015, 10:41:28 PM
I'm creating this scam accusation for coldblooded: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=547199 because he seems to be quite pissed off about diggit.

The admin of diggit, cryptofuture: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=165520 and an investor, oldmate, who looks like is on the inside (not quite sure) or is at least an accomplice https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=401759 appear to have abandoned the gambling site diggit.io

From the posts on their official thread (towards the end around page 50): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=879161.0, it looks like they have stopped withdrawals and stopped crediting deposits.

Although the site has not seemed to actually scammed yet, it looks like it is about to.
240  Bitcoin / BitcoinJ / getting private keys of addresses from bitcoinj wallet words on: October 09, 2015, 03:40:54 AM
I extracted the wallet words from my android bitcoin wallet which uses the bitcoinj protobuf file format. Using those words, I can get multibit HD to generate the same addresses. However, when I use a BIP39 to BIP32 tool like https://dcpos.github.io/bip39/ I can't get it to generate the correct addresses. Is there anyway for me to get that to generate the addresses? More importantly, how do I get the private keys of those addresses?
