Hello everybody! Its been a long time! Grin I had personal issues and weren't able to be active in BT. Although, I was able to login a few months ago, I am unable to login to my pc. After fumbling through my things, I was able to get BT password, however, both my pgp & bitcoin address are lost. I am still trying to recover my pc account. Hopefully, I will recover it, though chances are low!

Btw, did I miss anything important? Especially posts in "Meta", "Bitcoin Discussion" and about popular/prominent users. Please post link to those topics if possible! Thanks in advanced! Smiley

Regards,
Muhammed Zakir

Edit:-

From now on, please comment about my account in hilariousandco's thread.

I opened a thread in Reputation here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1966528.msg19555140#msg19555140

Feedback is there as a precaution as any account that didn't change their password since the 2015 forum hack are likely hacked themselves. I will happily remove it once reasonable proof has been shown.

Hello! I don't like to give current email address associated with my account to others but at the same time, I would like others to know an email address of mine so that they can contact me. For this, I think a 'display' email will be helpful. That is, we can add two email addresses, one for forum messages which won't be displayed publicly and one for displaying publicly. Suggestions/opinions are most welcome!

Los Angeles police shoot unarmed man in head – and then handcuff him

 • Man with towel around hand appeared to flag officers down for help
 • Police handcuffed unconscious man as he bled profusely

The man, who is believed to be Hispanic and in his forties, was shot after failing to respond to a police order to ‘drop the gun’, an LAPD spokesman said.

An unarmed man was shot in the head and critically wounded by Los Angeles police officers on Friday night, after he appeared to be flagging them down for assistance.

A passerby recorded graphic video of the incident from a car, and then posted it on Twitter. The video showed officers turning over the man, who appeared to be unconscious and lying on his face, and handcuffing his hands behind his back as his head bled profusely.

The Los Angeles police department said the man, who was not immediately named, had a towel wrapped around his hand and the two officers believed he was concealing a weapon.

The man reportedly waved over the officers in their patrol car in the quiet Los Feliz area of LA, north-east of Hollywood, at about 6.30pm. The officers got out of their vehicle and one ordered the man to “drop the gun”, LAPD lieutenant John Jenal told local television news on Friday night.

Jenal said the man “extended his arm towards the officers”. The man did not respond to the police order and he was shot, Jenal said.

According to the LA Times, officers later discovered the man was not carrying a weapon.

The man, who is believed to be Hispanic and in his forties, was taken to hospital. On Saturday afternoon, his condition was described as grave.

Witnesses said they heard three or four shots ring out during the confrontation.

The LAPD said on Saturday it was standard procedure to handcuff any suspect.

Surrounding streets, including a major local thoroughfare, were closed off until 2am on Saturday, causing gridlock in the area.

Your Phone Ain't Safe As You Think!

Another week chock-full of hacks and vulns, and if you thought your password manager and cell phone were safe, you’ll want to pay close attention to the LastPass breach.

After the Sunday Times posted an unsubstantiated article quoting anonymous government sources alleging that Russia and China cracked the cache of files liberated by whistleblower Edward Snowden, security technologist Bruce Schneier came to Snowden’s defense and took it a step further, positing that they had likely already accessed the files long before Snowden did.

 -snip-

Be Careful Which Networks You Connect to on Your Samsung Galaxy S6

Over 600 million Samsung Galaxy S phones are susceptible to a major security risk in the phone’s default IME keyboard. The vulnerability would allow an attacker to eavesdrop on calls, read incoming and outgoing text messages, install malicious apps, and access the camera and phone. It was discovered by NowSecure mobile security researcher Ryan Welton last December and presented at the Blackhat Mobile Security Summit in London earlier this week. It’s hard to pin the blame on just one company. Samsung’s default keyboard uses SwiftKey technology to power typing features such as word predictions, and SwiftKey made the mistake of failing to use TLS encryption in the zip archive file sent during the language pack updates. This leaves users vulnerable to man-in-the-middle attacks. Samsung added fuel to the fire by giving these updates system-user-level permissions, allowing them to bypass Android’s normal protections. And although Samsung made a patch available to mobile carriers on March 27 of this year, the carriers are taking their sweet old time to push out the updates. While waiting for a patch, you can reduce their risk by avoiding public Wi-Fi or using a VPN.

OS X and iOS Flaws Let Hackers Steal Keychain, 1Password Contents

Think you’re off the hook because you’re on an iPhone rather than a Samsung Galaxy? Not so fast. A group of researchers found flaws in the sandboxes protecting both iOS and OS X that could allow hackers to steal passwords from your keychain and the password manager 1Password. The researchers submitted malicious proof-of-concept apps to the Apple store. The apps were accepted in the store, and researchers were able to bypass sandboxing protections. 1Password has tips for users on its blog to help mitigate some of the risk while waiting for a fix. “In light of the vulnerabilities, users of all OSes should limit the apps they install to those that are truly needed and explicitly trusted,” wrote Ars Technica Security Editor Dan Goodin.

12  Other / Politics & Society / Palmyra presents a new twist: First Syrian city the group has taken from Government on: May 29, 2015, 09:43:19 AM
[cemter]ISIS Alternates Stick and Carrot to Control Palmyra[/center]

Civilians looked out into their neighborhood in Palmyra, Syria, on May 18, the day after ISIS fired rockets into the city.

BEIRUT, Lebanon — Hours after they swept into the Syrian city of Palmyra last week, Islamic State militants carried out scores of summary executions, leaving the bodies of victims — including dozens of government soldiers — in the streets.

Then, residents say, they set about acting like municipal functionaries. They fixed the power plant, turned on the water pumps, held meetings with local leaders, opened the city’s lone bakery and started distributing free bread. They planted their flag atop Palmyra’s storied ancient ruins, and did not immediately loot and destroy them, as they have done at other archaeological sites.

Next came dozens of Syrian government airstrikes, some killing civilians. That gave the Islamic State a political assist: Within days, some residents had redirected the immediate focus of their anger and fear from the militants on the ground to the warplanes overhead.

In Palmyra, the Islamic State group appears to be digging into power in a series of steps it has honed over two years of accumulating territory in Iraq and Syria.

Graphic | Syria After Four Years of Mayhem A look at the conflict that has dismembered Syria and inflamed the region with one of the world’s worst religious and sectarian wars.
But Palmyra presents a new twist: It is the first Syrian city the group has taken from the government, not from insurgents. In Raqqa, farther north, and in Iraq, the group has moved quickly and harshly against anyone perceived as a rival.

The Islamic State alternates between terrorizing residents and courting them. It takes over institutions. And it seeks to co-opt opposition to the government, painting itself as the champion of the people — or at least, the Sunnis — against oppressive central authorities.

That method has helped the group entrench itself in the cities of Raqqa, Syria, and Mosul, Iraq, and is now unfolding in Palmyra.

The Palmyra takeover was detailed by half a dozen residents of the city, including supporters and opponents of the government, via phone or electronic messaging. All asked not to be fully identified, to avoid reprisals from the government or from the Islamic State, also known as ISIS, ISIL or Daesh. Most cast themselves as caught between the threats of government airstrikes and ISIS beheadings or other killings.

On Wednesday, for example, several residents reported that the Islamic State had killed 20 army soldiers in an ancient amphitheater. Others recalled seeing the bodies of soldiers burned alive or beheaded by militants.

“They slaughtered many,” a cafe owner exclaimed about ISIS, then switched to the subject of air raids that he would later blame for the deaths of several friends: “God knows what they’re bombing, it’s so scary!”

Woman Attempts To Smuggle 8-Year-Old African Boy Into Spain In Suitcase

(Video embedded image)

A Moroccan teenager tried to smuggle an 8-year-old boy into Spain by stuffing him in her hot pink suitcase, officials said.

Border control agents discovered the kid contraband Thursday when his outline showed up on the X-ray scanner, police told AFP.

The 19-year-old woman took the luggage across the border from Morocco to Ceuta, a Spanish-governed territory in Northern Africa. She seemed nervous and reluctant to cross the border, checkpoint agents said, so they x-rayed her suitcase.

“The operator noticed something strange, which seemed to be a person inside the case," a Civil Guard police spokesman said.

When the guards unzipped the fucisa bag, they found an 8-year-old boy curled up inside. He said his name was Abou and was from Africa’s Ivory Coast.

The 19-year-old, who was not related to the boy, was arrested.

Two hours later the boy’s dad, who is originally from Ivory Coast but now live in Spain’s Canary Islands, crossed the same border. Police arrested him, too.

The father said he had recently applied for family reunification, but was denied, Spanish newspaper El Pais reported. Police said the father likely paid the woman to smuggle the boy into Spain. However, the dad said he had no idea the boy would be stuffed into a suitcase.

The boy is currently in Spanish child protective services.

I advice you to understand the risks involved in free Bitcoin sites before using them. There is an excellent EDU by shorena: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1044399.0.

20  Other / Politics & Society / UN leaked report: French raped African children aged 8-15 when they asked food! on: May 03, 2015, 05:26:00 PM
"Do this and we will give food - French Soldiers!!!

“...
Paula Donovan, co-director of AIDS-Free World, said the report detailed interviews with six children, aged eight to 15, who approached the French soldiers to ask for food.

"The children were saying that they were hungry and they thought that they could get some food from the soldiers. The answer was 'if you do this, then I will give you food'," Donovan told AFP news agency.

"Different kids used different language."

The report by the UN human rights office was commissioned amid fears of sexual abuse against children last year as tens of thousands were displaced by fighting and unrest in the country.

The UN employee accused of the leak, Swedish national Anders Kompass, is based in Geneva and turned the report over to French authorities because his bosses had failed to take action, The Guardian reported.

He has been suspended and faces dismissal for breaching protocol, the paper said.

But UN officials said Kompass passed on the confidential document before it was presented to senior officials in the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, suggesting that senior UN officials were not even aware of the report's findings when it was leaked.
