121  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin stickers for cars on: September 04, 2016, 06:40:25 PM
I was watching some cars on my way home, and I was thinking.. we city people spend a lot of time in traffic and in traffic jams.. just looking at the

back window of the car in front of us. Why not make that space, prime advertisement for Bitcoin. We get some people to design something funny and

stick it in the back window of your car, it has to have something to do with Bitcoin. What do you think?
122  Economy / Speculation / Dump or long term goals? on: August 27, 2016, 04:51:21 PM
We have seen a lot of people waiting in high anticipation for a BIG increase in the price during the Halving event. How many people wanted this to happen, just to dump and run and how many of them

were ignoring this and are in this for the long haul? I was planning to sell some coins at a inflated price to enjoy the fruit of my labour, but decided to hold a little longer. I already more than doubled the

amount I spend on the investment a year ago, when the price were $200+ ... but greed wants me to hoard a little bit longer. How many others wanted to do the same? I will never sell everything, but I

want to enjoy the profits.  Roll Eyes
123  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / I am Satoshi Nakamoto - Video on: August 17, 2016, 05:34:35 PM
I was thinking when I saw that art with the collection of Avatars of a bunch of Bitcointalk users, why not make a video based on the same principle. We could have a central depository somewhere and

people can dump a short video where they say, I am Satoshi Nakamoto in their own language, and after a specific cutoff date, someone can close the site and edit it into one big video. We can

make it fun, and have different settings for every video clip.

We then place this video on YouTube, and all income from this goes towards some charity or to fund some prize for the best video clip or even to fund some effort to reduce scams. {Something positive}

What do you think? Will this work?
124  Other / Off-topic / Satoshi Nakamoto - Nationality on: August 12, 2016, 08:45:32 PM
So I was watching the Olympics and I was thinking.. if we had to choose a nationality for Satoshi, which would it be and why? Would he, she or they be from the same country or possibly from a

group of countries. Let's debate the merits of Satoshi being a group and not a individual for this debate, it just makes things easier. I know some people have looked at his post history and the time

zone in which he posted and also at his writings, but could this be a collective mind, coming from different countries? Let's discuss.  Grin
125  Bitcoin / Press / [2016-08-08] Guess who made front page? Stuff on: August 08, 2016, 06:51:10 PM
I was playing some StarCraft and one of the South African players who were in my team, send me this link : http://www.stuff.co.za/julyaugust-2016-issue-stuff-magazine/ He says it is one of the

leading tech magazines in his country, and in his words... " Your Bitcoins made front page " ... That put a smile on my face, because I have been trying to get through to these guys for a while now.

This turned into a discussion point, and they said they would adopt Bitcoin, when Blizzard accepts it as a payment option or if it is introduced in the games. Well guys and gals, we made front page.  Roll Eyes

126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Killer Bitcoin Game idea on: August 07, 2016, 11:17:06 AM
I was thinking, how can you create a Bitcoin game where you can offer something that would attract loads of players and also offer something for advertisers. The advertisers are looking for something,

where sites gets repeat visitors that stays for long periods. I also want players to play for FREE but there must also be something for highbie players with money. {upgrades} This game must have a

option where MANY people have the opportunity to gain some monetary reward for their time spend in the game. The game should also attract new people to Bitcoin.

So this will be the idea :

The game is based on a Independence Day scenario, where the earth is invaded by a massive Alien invasion. The main goal will be to take down the mothership, but you will also have to fight off the

alien fighters flying around in space ships and infantry soldiers fighting on the ground. The mothership will be funded by a Advertiser. {The screen will have a small banner at the bottom, that would

display the company sponsoring the mothership} The more they pay for the banner, the more difficult it would be to take it down, so they will have more views over a longer period.

You will not be able to use bots or fake accounts, because automated bots will be killed by the incoming Alien soldiers and fighters.

The reward for the players playing for FREE would be that they will be paid {from the funds allocated for the mothership} for the soldiers and fighters they kill. They can take the money or they can

buy bigger and better guns and ammo. The players with money can buy these bigger and better guns and that income can be distributed to pay for the hosting fees and some profit for the owner and

also to fund some of the rewards for the FREE players. { A fancy faucet system }

Once the Mothership is destroyed, the pool of money paid for the Advertisement is divided between the players who participated in killing the mothership and how much they contributed.

We can have 1000's of people fighting against a massive mothership, that takes weeks to be destroyed. The difficulty can also be adjusted, if the player base gets too big, or the upgrades makes it

too easy.

How does that sound? You can tell all your friends to join in to kill the massive mothership invading earth and they can earn money while they are doing it.  Grin Grin Grin

127  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin or a gold bar with the same value? on: August 02, 2016, 06:48:34 PM
Let's test your belief in Bitcoin's potential. OK, let's say someone approach you, and offer you two options for free...

1. 10 bitcoins

or

2. A gold bar with the same value at the time.

What will you chose? We all say, we believe in Bitcoin and it's future, but if you faced with this decision... would you go for the traditional safe heaven or would you go with the new Bitcoin option, that

are still in it's experimental phase?

Give me your reasons, why you would take the one over the other.... I know which option people will chose that are not familiar with Bitcoin ----> Gold bar.  Roll Eyes
128  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin is for criminals - Or so they say. on: July 26, 2016, 04:15:01 PM
Ok, so in every article or podcast or interview... we have to hear that Bitcoin is the preferred tool for criminals. If that was the truth, we should all be filthy rich by now... right? ....The question is, where

are all this money from money laundering, drugs, prostitution and all the nasty stuff, Bitcoin is being blamed for.... I do not see it, do you? Should we play to our strength then, if Bitcoin is only good for

criminal purposes? ... I mean to say, if we only attract say 10% of the total amount of money spend on drugs alone, we would most probably be millionaires in a month or two.  Roll Eyes

" With estimates of $100 billion to $110 billion for heroin, $110 billion to $130 billion for cocaine, $75 billion for cannabis and $60 billion for synthetic drugs, the probable global figure for the total illicit

drug industry would be approximately $360 billion.
"

This is a tongue in the cheek poke at all those people, who points fingers at Bitcoin for being the culprit and those who are saying Bitcoin is the primary tool for criminals to do their business online.  Roll Eyes

Can you smell the bullshit in their statements? The numbers just do not match up, with what they are saying.  Wink

129  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin need a killer App like Pokémon GO on: July 18, 2016, 04:51:34 PM
We need a similar App or Game like Pokémon GO, where people go out there and pick up bitcoin. How difficult can it be to fund something like this and have people looking for bitcoins or heaps of

Satoshi's? This new phenomenon called, Pokémon GO has taken off like a rocket, and people are joining in their millions to search for virtual items. Imagine you are a coffee shop owner and you just

launched your first Bitcoin payment option for your shop. You sponsor 1 x bitcoin towards the launch and login to a site that distributes these Satoshi's for you. Each group of Satoshi's {valued at +/-

the cost of 1 cup of coffee} are then being generated in and around your shop. People will be drawn to your area and they will have money to spend on 1 cup of coffee, if they find it. Multiply that with

all the merchants in the area and you will have a frenzy of Bitcoin hunters in your area. Foot traffic = Sales and this will generate that traffic in your area.  Wink

So, who are going to create that killer Bitcoin App for us, to launch this to the Moon?  Grin Grin Grin Grin
130  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Who will be your perfect Satoshi Nakamoto ? on: June 21, 2016, 04:31:30 PM
We have discussed in many threads, why certain people should not be, or could not be Satoshi Nakamoto...but we have not discussed which person or group would be the ideal Satoshi Nakamoto.

In your opinion, if you could choose, who would you want Satoshi Nakamoto to be? This could be an individual or a group of people. Also quantify why you want this person or group to be the creator of

Bitcoin and the owner of +/- 1 000 000 bitcoins. Let's see how creative you could be with this.  Roll Eyes
131  Economy / Speculation / Guess what the price per Bitcoin would be on the Halving. on: May 19, 2016, 05:24:10 PM
Let's start a thread, with people's prediction what the price would be, when the halving takes place and then come back to this thread to see who were the closest. You can substantiate and

elaborate on why you decided on this price you predicted. Just make sure you highlight the price to make it easier to spot a possible winner. My prediction for the price will kick of this thread and I

predict a price of $550 ... I think the price will be higher than the average {$450}, but a downward pressure from the people selling, when it hits the higher prices, will push it down again.

Let's see how close we can come to a accurate prediction. Good luck...
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Node count for Alt coins? on: May 17, 2016, 03:49:14 PM
I guess even older members needs to ask stupid questions... now and again.  Wink ... I am doing a presentation for something and I need a comparison chart to show the node count of Bitcoin and most

of it's strongest competitor Alt coins. I think decentralization is very important and a higher node count, might be more beneficial, if it can be reliably measured and authenticated that it was from

different location and sources. Does anyone have any reliable sources or links to node counts for different popular Alt coins, we could combine in one chart? Sorry for the silly question.. but I cannot

get reliable information with basic searching on this topic. Thanks for any resources.  Wink ... I am saying reliable, because I know some of these nodes can be faked. {Virtual machines etc.}
133  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Will you miss this, when Bitcoin replace fiat? on: April 15, 2016, 02:31:03 PM
I was just thinking, if Bitcoin replace fiat... The generations after us will most certainly miss out on this experience : Treasure Hunts with Metal detectors :

~ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkAs5UkQ8zA&nohtml5=False
~ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NixU-vYPvAI&nohtml5=False

The industry around metal detecting will not suffer, but the coin finds will decrease as coins go out of circulation. It is still a huge thrill for a person interested in this hobby, to

find old coins or even gold coins from another century. How will the Bitcoin industry change this scene and how would we have something similar to this? { A metal jar with a

Bitcoin address & matching private key with say 200 Bitcoins? }
134  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Will you switch to a new technology, if it offers better features than Bitcoin? on: April 04, 2016, 05:20:44 PM
We know Bitcoin was the first and is the most trusted Crypto currency out there at the moment and that it is backed by a huge network with tons of hashing power and good security, BUT would you

forget about all of that and go for a alternative technology with better features, once it is developed by all these banks? {Permissioned, private ledgers} They will obviously just copy the concept and

add some bells n whistles and then improve on scalability.

The governments will obviously make things easier for them and make it more difficult for Bitcoin, and then Bitcoin will start to lose ground and things will change in their favor. How do we stop that

or turn that against them? {The only solution I can see, is for us to educate the public and to prove to them that Bitcoin is better}

What will you do? Turn to a permissioned ledger, because things will be easier or stay with Bitcoin out of principle or because you support financial freedom?
135  Economy / Economics / Is gold better than Bitcoin? on: March 28, 2016, 03:42:13 PM
A lot of people seem to think gold is the answer to all our problems. Every time the economy takes a turn for the worst, people turn to gold. {They invest in gold to hedge against these problems} If you

do not buy physical gold items/ornaments/jewelry/gold bars ... you still have ZERO protection against anything. It is just a piece of paper and a ledger entry on a private database. People seem to think

that there are tons of gold stored in secret vaults under government buildings. Is this true? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZcRk7UClO4 { There are no proof of this and audits in the USA are about

60 years old. } You have the only entry to your investment, when you invest in Bitcoin. { The private key } The proof that it exist, is on a public blockchain....  Wink
136  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Will I stay or Will I leave - Poll on: March 20, 2016, 09:05:39 AM
A lot of people feel very strongly about the support for the different sides to the debate. Core vs Classic. We saw some people leaving the scene when Mike Hearn did his

XT tantrum when he left to go work with the competition. I was just wondering, if people will do the same thing, if either Core or Classic failed? Does your support for Bitcoin,

rely purely on the developers who work on it, or do you support the technology. Let's put this to a poll. Once again, this poll will not be a true reflection of anything, due to

sock puppets on this forum etc... Let's just poll the group to see how they feel about this.  Roll Eyes
137  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bank experience makes me love Bitcoin more on: March 15, 2016, 04:55:42 PM
My brother bought a second hand car a week ago, and he went into the bank to transfer the money for the car to the dealers account at another bank. The dealer already finished all paper work and

transfer of ownership and also road worthy testing and insurance etc, but cannot deliver the car to him, because the money has not been successfully transferred by the bank. They have a 48 hour

transfer period between different banks. In this day and age, we still have to wait for a minimum of 48 hours to successfully transfer money between banks.  Huh Huh Huh

Everyone should stop complaining about Bitcoin transaction confirmation times, because with the correct fees, you will rarely see anything like this happen under normal {non-stress test} conditions.

You just have to love Bitcoin.  Grin
138  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Satisfaction rating - Bitcoin Core Developers on: March 09, 2016, 03:59:26 PM
There have been a lot of discussion lately about the different implementations and the way people think it should be done. Let's find out if people are still happy with the way the Bitcoin Core team are

managing things and what their issues is. On a scale from less than 10% to 100% ....stipulate your satisfaction with the current team of people running the show. Let's steer away from specific

individuals and just concentrate on the team. If you have suggestions on how to improve their inputs, please add them in your comments. Let's also give credit, if you feel they are doing a good job.

Less than 10% is pretty bad, and 100% is perfect ....Enjoy.  Grin -
139  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The Real value of Bitcoin in regards to other Crypto currencies on: January 29, 2016, 04:51:22 PM
We all know Bitcoin will not be the most dominant and strongest Crypto currency out there in the future. In every technology thus far, we have seen the

original pioneers and then the competition starts and eventually the original technology gets replaced by something more innovative or more popular.

Bitcoin will also follow this cycle and we will still have access to it, but it will not be the de-facto token or currency. Whatever will happen in the future,

will not be in our control.... and here comes the BUT ..... Bitcoin will always be the original concept and the first Crypto currency that broke through to

the financial world.

We now own some of the technology that would change the financial world.... We own something with historic value. The first stamp or the first new

currency .... Just imagine 20 years or 50 years from now, when most people will look back at this and say... " I was part of that revolution to change the

monetary system or the way people made electronic transactions."

I can still remember my first computer .... a ZX Spectrum 48k .... Today, it is a collectors item and it is still very valuable.
140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Over complicating the issue - USA / Bitcoin / Crypto currencies on: January 17, 2016, 12:17:10 PM
Watching the Beyond Bitcoin : Morning Webcast Session : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0iArSIU0Z8&feature=youtu.be&t=1h16m43s - I could not help by realizing how

people in the USA and many other countries over complicate issues. There are so many hidden agendas, when a new and ground breaking innovation occur, that we are getting

bogged down in the mud in the useless noise. Banks join the discussions and try to protect their profits / Ripple and competing Alt coins try to grab a share of the markets and

third-party operators like BitPay and exchanges want a share of the pie.

I think the only guy around that table, who made a little bit of sense, was Glenn Hutchins at 3h14min onwards... give or take one or two other speakers, who made some

valid points. eg. Barry {but thats just my opinion}

What I do know is, that Bitcoin is not going to go away quietly and the Public Blockchain will be here for the long ride, until the bankers and the lobbyists and the people with

these hidden agendas have managed to use their full resources to influence the regulators to either slow it down or to ban it.

The great haste now to regulate this technology, is coming from the banks and the competitors, who is in the process of developing their own Blockchain based technologies

or companies like Ripple, who has a Alt coin and wants to take the Bitcoin spot, but are held back by the regulatory environment. The banking industry is trying to hijack

the Bitcoin technology and are now pushing to rush the regulation.

Bitcoin {Public Blockchains} WILL continue in many other countries, were regulation allows for it or where people have different agendas. In the end, it will be our task to

educate and highlight these agendas to the general public, for them to make a informed decision on what route would be the best to take for the future.

As a Crypto Currency community, that should be our primary concern... not how much money WE can make from this, but the sharing of the innovation and the freedom this

technology can bring to MANY people on a global scale... not just in specific countries.  Sad
