I wanna know you guy's honest opinion on things like Core V30, Knots & OP_RETURN. Obviously I'm not a tech-savvy/tech-nerd/tech-genius/OG like you guys. So there are many technical things or even non technical things, I don't know or not aware of or might misunderstand.

I have been watching many videos regarding this matter, and many of them are heavily criticising this new update. According to many, increasing the OP_RETURN limit from 80 to 100,000 would make things worse. Some are saying, it would make the blockchain a big trashbin for internet's worst data! Imagine someone decided to throw in video, audio, meme or what not. Well what do you all think? And will Knots be able to solve it, or is it even worse than that?

Btw, I'm using Bitcoin Core V29 still.

- It is only allowed to upload images in formats accepted by the forum (JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF).
- Images must have a maximum size of 2.5MB.
- Once uploaded, images cannot be deleted (unless you use the link generated at the time of upload, which is only accessible at that time).
- NSFW images are not allowed.
- No registration of user information is performed (only the IP is saved for spam control).
- All EXIF information is deleted by the system when uploading.
- Option in the code to embed the BBCode already with the actual height and width of the image (just choose "BBCode full fix HxW").

২. তখন ম্যালওয়ারটি আপনার ঐ কপি করা এড্রেসটির সাথে হ্যাকার/স্ক্যামারের এড্রেস রিপ্লেস করে দেয়।
৩. এভাবে আপনি আপনার এড্রেস মনে করে CTRL-V চেপে ফান্ড সেন্ড করেন, কিন্তু প্রকৃতপক্ষে সেটা অন্য কোনো এড্রেসে চলে যায়, মাঝখান দিয়ে আপনি ফান্ড হারায় ফেলেন।
এমনকি আপনি যদি পেস্ট করা এড্রেসটির সামনের কিছু অংশ চেকও করেন, সেখানেও দেখবেন আপনার আর হ্যাকারের এড্রেসের কিছু অংশে হুবুহু মিল রয়েছে, এভাবে আপনি টেরও পাবেননা যে আপনার এড্রেসটি চেন্জ হয়ে গেছে।

এটি যেভাবে প্রতিরোধ করবেন
১. Windows এর ব্যবহার ছেড়ে দিন, বাট আপনি আমি দুজনেই জানি এটা আপনার পক্ষে সম্ভব না।
২. এড্রেস কপি/পেস্ট করার পর সম্পূর্নটা চেক করুন, শুধুমাত্র সামনের কয়েকটা ক্যারেকটার না (বা পেছনের গুলো)। মাঝখান থেকেও মিলিয়ে দেখুন। জানি এখানে অনেক খাটাখাটনি হবে, আর আপনারাও হয়তোবা এতোকিছু করতে যাবেননা।
৩. আমার মাথায় আরেকটা উপায় আসছে: সম্পূর্ন বিটকয়েন এড্রেস কপি করার দরকার নেই, কেবল একটি অংশ কপি করুন, এবং শেষের কয়েকটা অক্ষর হাতে ম্যানুয়ালি টাইপ করুন। এভাবে ম্যালওয়ারটি আপনার অসম্পূর্ণ এড্রেসটি এক্সচেঞ্জ করে ফেললেও, আপনার ওয়ালেট সেটি এক্সেপ্ট করবে না (ইনভ্যালিড), কারন এড্রেসের বাকি অংশ আপনি ম্যানুয়ালি টাইপ করেছেন।
এরপরেও আপনাকে ২ নাম্বার ধাপ ফলো করতে হবে: এড্রেস চেক করুন!
৪. কপি/পেস্টের মাধ্যমে আপনার এড্রেসের অংশবিশেষ ভেরিফাই করুন। ধরুন আপনি এই এড্রেসে 1PjpEgknyKxQKXtMcYFDym8odkfohFGkui ফান্ড পাঠাতে চান। কপি/পেস্ট করার পরে, এই অংশটি "yKxQKXtMc" সিলেক্ট করুন পেস্ট করা অংশ থেকে, তারপর CTRL-C তে চাপ দিন। এরপর CTRL-F চাপুন, এবং আবার CTRL-V দিয়ে দেখুন আপনার আংশিক এড্রেসটি সোর্স এড্রেসের সাথে মিলে কিনা। সোর্স যেনো অথেনটিক হয় এটা অবশ্যই নিশ্চিত করে নিবেন, অনেকসময় কিন্তু ইমেইও নকল হতে পারে!

যতবারই আমি কোনো ওয়ালেটে ফান্ড পাঠাই প্রতিবারই আমি সোর্স এড্রেস আর যে এড্রেসটি ইন্টার করছি তা পাশাপাশি রাখি। এর মানে হচ্ছে আমি আমার হার্ডওয়ার ওয়ালেট বা ফোনকে আমার কম্পিউটার স্ক্রিনের পাশে রাখি অথবা ফোনে বা কম্পিটারে দুইটা উইন্ড রিসাইজ করে একদম হুবুহু একাসাথে পাশাপাশি রাখি। একবার রাখা হয়ে গেলে (এক ইঞ্চি বা তার কম দূরত্বে) সম্পূর্ন এড্রেসটি ভেরিফাই করা অনেক সহজ হয়ে যায়, ইজিলি প্রতিটা অক্ষর শুরু থেকে শেষ পর্যন্ত যাচাই করা যায়।

Recently there has been news of Windows 11 update (KB5063878 & KB5062660) killing SSD's and HDD's. So I strongly urge everyone not to install any updates and make sure to pause it for as long as possible. It is said that these particular updates are causing data loses and corruption as well as making the SSD being inaccessible/vanishing. Many of the famous brands are already effected, including Samsung, Corsair, ADATA, WD, Seagate. This is tested by X user Nekorusukii.

1. This bug is trigged when writing large amounts of data (50GB at 60%+ usage according to Nekorusukii). So for the time being do not move/write any data!
2. And uninstall those two updates above as soon as possible.

I have one of those mentioned effected model SSD, but luckily I haven't updated my system yet, so no damage so far!

I'm not sure where to start so I'll just explain what's happening. So whenever I'm running Bitcoin Core, it's sucking up all the juices. I believe, I have a decent internet connection/package but while running this software I cannot run any other applications or any other devices connected to the same network. They just stop receiving any data. Even my mobile starts showing "Connected, no internet" message. I mean, it that normal ? Note that, everything goes back to normal speed after closing Bitcoin Core! I cannot run Bitcoin Core and use my wifi all together.

Long story short: I kept failing captchas for some reason.

Lately, I have noticed they became way more annoying. No matter how many times I try, I just keep failing them. I literally spent more than 5 minute just to pass the captchas yesterday.
To be precise, the ones where you have to identify a specific part of an image (screenshot below) have become nearly impossible for me. As for the animated ones, where you click and a new image appears after a short delay and the ones where you select multiple images of the same thing (like all pictures of buses) seem to work fine. But I have to keep waiting until these two type shows up again!

Sorry if my sentences sound a little messy, I know they may seem a little out of order. Anyone else facing anything similar?

Similar topics may already exists but I'm creating this topic anyway to warn everyone, especially the newbies that NEVER trust anyone from Telegram even if it's your own brother, mother or father. The problem is that most of the times, people operate completely mechanically, as a result to not know what exactly they're doing. If you've never staked an address before, you simply go to the proper thread and leave your address that was generated from your non-custodial wallet, just like that:

There's no need to provide a signed message from that address, because we know that at the moment, the owner of the account staked their first address. It is obviously theirs whether they sign a message or not.

It is advisable to use a unique address, especially one that has never received Bitcoins. You can do it, though, but it'll harm your privacy. It is better if you simply pick an address that has no connection with your transactions.

Note that there's absolutely no reason to sign a message from the new address, for the same reason you didn't have to do it for your first address. We know that at the moment, you've signed a message from your old address, thus we conclude that indeed it's you, and you choose to stake another address.

This could happen for lots of reasons. One may be due to the fear of the old's compromisation. If that's the case, you'll have to state in your signed message that the owner of the account is only the one who'll provide a signature from the new address and not from the old one.

Some users may choose to stake an address along with a signed message for the first time, if they feel that staking just the address isn't enough (although I explained above why it is sufficient). If the user stakes a signed message, you ought to verify it.

IF the message can't be verified, then the user hasn't provide a valid signature. In that case, you'll respond them that they did something wrong during the procedure and by “respond” I mean that you'll quote the whole message just in case they edit their post. If that's the first time they tried to stake an address, then that's fine. They'll learn. If they had previously staked an address and want to stake another one, but can't provide you a valid signed message from the previous address, then the situation becomes suspicious.

In order to ensure that the original owner hadn't signed the asked message (that a hacker could have taken from him), you'll need to ask them politely to provide you one extra thing; time. As for your post that quotes the signed message:  It is unnecessary to provide a link that redirects the reader to a website/image that confirms the message's verification. The only necessary part is to quote it so that the readers can confirm that the account hasn't been compromised and the original message is the same. Low fees of 1 or 2 satoshis per vByte are an excellent opportunity to make your coins more safe and private. You can even make them almost quantum-safe - in 2025!

Well, in many cases, you may already have done your homework. But if not, then this post ist a reminder


New bitcoiners often make a mistake: they often re-use their Bitcoin addresses. Some think that a Bitcoin address is kind of an "identity", or an "account", like some altcoin communities like Ethereum's told them. But that is not the case!

Bitcoin is best used without re-using addresses. [1] There are two main reasons:

1) Re-using Bitcoin addresses make it easier for any entity, for example chain analysis companies, but also thieves and scammers, to link your coins together. In short: Your privacy is at risk! (See also this post).

2) When you spend coins from an address, you expose your public key for this address and store it to the blockchain. In the future, this may enable attackers with quantum computers to compute the private key using the public key and steal your coins! [2] [3]

There's an easy fix: simply move the coins on the re-used addresses to a freshly generated address! Both Bitcoin Core and the popular SPV wallets like Electrum or Sparrow provide easy means to do that.

1) Simply select the tab or menu item where your addresses are shown.

2) Select an address which was not used. In Electrum for example, you see the number of transactions made with this address under the column "Tx". If it is zero, then you can use this address.

3) Copy this address.

4) Now you have two options to spend them:

4a) If you have coin control enabled, then it's best to separate the coins according to the address where you received them. Select all coins which are on the same address, add them to coin control, and then send all these coins to a fresh address.

4b) If you don't have coin control enabled or don't know how to use it, or you have only one or two re-used address(es), then you can simply send all the Bitcoins to the fresh address.


Note:

There is a special class of re-used addresses: those where you only received coins, but never spent them. This is typically the case in bounty campaigns when you decide to hodl all rewards.
It is a good idea to eventually move these coins to a fresh address too, but in this case it is best if you then never use this address again. So if you want to continue to hodl the coins which arrive in this address and not spend them, it's not necessary to move them.

Note 2:

If you for any reason still have coins which were received with a P2PK script, i.e. paid directly to a public key instead to an address, move them too! This is often the case if you mined in the early years of Bitcoin. They're not less private, but they are vulnerable to quantum computing attacks just like coins on re-used addresses. It's unlikely you're a beginner in this case though


[1] Well, there are some cases where re-using addresses is convenient, for example if you participate in a bounty campaign. Even veterans often forget to move these coins to fresh addresses, too! But it's always a good idea to regularly move coins from re-used addresses to fresh ones.

[2] In theory, once quantum computer technology has advanced to the point where keys can be calculated in less than an hour, even your coins on addresses that were never re-used can be stolen. But first, this would require insane quantum computing power. And second, it's likely that at this date there will always be quantum-safe addresses available.

[3] There are proposals to burn or re-distribute "vulnerable" coins should quantum computers become a problem. Coins on re-used addresses could be considered "vulnerable". Moving them to an un-used address NOW would save your coins from being burnt because you forget about them in the future!

The title says it all. Today I was approached by an unknown person on telegram who claims to be a reseller of telegram usernames. He offered me a total sum of 8K USDT for my username. Being aware of this method of scamming I decided to troll this guy a bit, pretending to know nothing. Note that my username isn't of anything significant, I just used some words and set it.

Upon doing a reverse search on the scammers account, I was able to acquire these information. The fact that he is using a TG premium and an old account makes him more realistic. These guys are trying hard to make themselves look genuine.

First of all, I don't know where to start. Anyway, is it possible to add a passphrase (the 25th word) to my existing seed phrase, or do I need to start the process anew, create a new wallet, specify the 25th word there!? Tbh, I've never tried this feature before, so I'm pretty clueless about this. I kept forgetting things, so I never felt the necessity to make this. I just use the standard 12/24 words.

And if it is indeed possible, then how do I do it? What tools or software do I need to make it happen, as well as the whole process?!

Also, is this feature only applicable to a 24 word seed phrase? Can I use it with a 12 word seed phrase as well?

What kind of words can I use as the passphrase? Is there any specific list, or can I choose literally anything?.. for example: potato

Lastly, if I've understood correctly, I'm assuming that adding the passphrase will generate a completely different wallet address from the original one! Am I correct?
