2  Other / Beginners & Help / How to properly report a post to the moderators? on: April 23, 2024, 05:54:50 AM
First of all, I am not an active reporter, but I know there are many reputed users, even low ranked users, who actively report fake, spam, scams, irrelivent, and abusive posts, making the forum cleaner than ever.

So my question is to those who have 90–100% success in reporting accuracy, how do you guys report a post? To be more specific, what rules/guides do you guys follow when reporting, and what do you write in the comment section? Is there any format for reporting?

For example, if it's a low-quality post, do you just write "low-quality" in the comment section and be on with it? Or if someone is trying to buy-sell merits, do you write "merit abusers" and report it?

1. Spams
2. Off topic
3. Scams
4. Low quality
and so on...

I would really appreciate it if you guys gave me some advice on this. Currently, I have only 9 reports with 89% accuracy. Ignore any mistakes or choice of words!

════════════════════
UsernameAmount (BTC)
════════════════════
RickDeckard0.003
════════════════════
PowerGlove0.003
════════════════════
Total0.006
════════════════════

Code:
  • কোয়ালিফাই হওয়ার জন্য আপনাকে আপনার পাই এবং তার পাশে একটি কাগজে আপনার ইউজার নেম + তারিখ লেখা এমন কাগজ প্রর্দশিত করতে হবে। এরই সাথে পাই টি বানানোর সময় আরো ২ টি ছবি দেখাতে হবে, যাতে বোঝায় যে আপনি এটি কোথাও থেকে কেনেন নি;
  • একজন ইউজার সর্বোচ্চ ১ টি এন্ট্রি দিতে পারবে (আপনি আপনার ছবিতে যেকোনো সংখ্যক পাই অন্তর্ভুক্ত করতে পারবেন);
    • ২য় পর্যায় - ভোটিং কার্যক্রম ১৫ মার্চ থেকে ২৯ মার্চ পর্যন্ত চলবে (23:59:59 GMT)। ৩১শে মার্চ বিজয়ী ঘোষণা করা হবে।
      • এই পর্যায়ে, ইউজার রা তাদের পছন্দ অনুযায়ী ৪ টি পর্যন্ত এন্ট্রি রাঙ্ক করতে পারবে। ২য় পর্যায় শেষ না হওয়া পর্যন্ত আপনারা চাইলে আপনাদের ভোট এডিট করতে পারবেন।
      • যদি কোনো ইউজার শুধুমাত্র একজনকে সাপোর্ট করে থাকে, তাহলে ঐ একজনকেই চাইলে ভোট দিতে পারবে। তবে আপনি কোনোভাবেই ৪ জনের লিমিট ক্রস করতে পারবেন না (৪র্থ জনের উপরে কারো এন্ট্রি পড়লে সেটি গণ্য করা হবেনা)।
      • নমিনেশন প্রাপ্ত প্রার্থীরা তাদের ভোটারদের মিরিট সেন্ড করতে পারবে না
  • সতন্ত্রভাবে আমাদের যে সাবমিশন গুলো আছে, তা থেকেই বিজয়ীদের মধ্যে পুরস্কার বিতরন করা হবে;

4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Is it possible to migrate my Bitcoin core from windows to linux? on: February 12, 2024, 02:20:25 PM
I don't wanna download the whole 500+ GB of blockchain data and verify it again. It's already fully sync (100%) on my windows laptop. But I was thinking of changing OS, probably shift to any Ubuntu flavour distro. I would have re-downloaded everything but the thing is my Internet speed is the worst. It'll take more than 15 days to download and verify the whole thing. And I don't have the patience for that. So I was thinking if it's possible to maybe somehow, you guys know what I mean.

Note: please ignore any misconception/mistakes or wrong terms if used. I'm new to Bitcoin core. I was curious, so I'm trying to understand these things. Thanks... Smiley
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How to determine the right transaction fee? on: December 15, 2023, 01:01:51 PM
Most of you know that gas transaction fees are inputted automatically when making a transaction, but they can be added manually. A reputed member said, "When someone chooses the gas transaction fee automatically, there are many unnecessary fees included, which could have been reduced or deducted."

As an example, suppose the current fee is set at $1. But based on the memepool congestion, it could have been reduced to $0.90, and the translation would still take the same confirmation time (slightly). I don't know how much of it is true or practical but as far as I understood, he meant this.

Therefore, I could set my own fee as a result of high transaction volumes if I could understand the memepool and congestion. To understand, I meant the math and calculation part, and what's sat/vB? I don't know how that works.

I am not in a hurry. So I won't need instant confirmation. I can wait 6 hours, 12 hours, or even 24 hours for the confirmation. Of course, I won't choose a value that would make the transaction stuck. I know that a high fee equals high priority. But if I could save a couple of pennies, then why not? This question popped inside my mind after someone posted this topic: Someone just paid 83BTC for transaction fee.
6  Other / Meta / Made a discovery on: December 04, 2023, 06:30:22 PM
I think I just made a new discovery. I repeat, "I think". This discovery won't help mankind fight off dinasores. Tongue You can say it's useless discovery since it serves no purpose.

All of us knows that, the forum is quite old. And the SMF version it uses is also quite old. So it has a lot of modern day features missing. As an example, modern day emojis. The forum does have some emojis, but not enough. Despite this, many users are using emojis. So how do they do it? I tried to check it by quoting what they wrote. And I found nothing, it was just a basic emoji.

The "discovery" is that when you put in a modern day emoji and click preview, it won't show up in the preview section. But if you directly post it, The emoji will appear. I used to wonder why my emojis didn't appear. Because I would always check the preview before posting, I didn't realized that. I just thought something was broken from my side (until today). But now I know, it was always there, it just didn't show up.

8  Other / Beginners & Help / Beware of Clipboard Virus! on: December 02, 2023, 04:18:06 PM
And this is the third time I have gotten infected with the clipboard virus. I don't know why I always end up with the particular virus. Though I don't know how to properly define this thing as a virus or malware. I don't use any third-party antivirus, but my Windows Defender is always on. So I have no idea how I got infected. Windows defender seems to not be working regarding this virus. I guess, other antivirus programs won't work either. There is no way to fix this. So unfortunately, I had to reinstall Windows twice the same day to fully get rid of this virus. Such a hassle. Lucky for me, I didn't send out any funds since I remembered my original address. The moment I saw a change of address, I knew something was wrong. Here is the phishing address. The total received amount is almost $28k I wonder how many innocent people fell a victim to it.

9  Other / Meta / What is this glitch? on: November 18, 2023, 08:17:25 PM
I came across a weird glitch. Can anybody explain what it is? Have any of you guys faced it before?

So whenever there is a network issue, slow internet connection or slow loading speed, I see something like shown in the photo below. Technically nothing as that user (1700337231) existed on my thread before. And after the thread loads property, the user vanishes. You only see a glimpse of it, when the page is still loading. It will only show, if you have a very slow connection. I have noticed this many times, I don't know if I'm the only one.

Username, post count, post content everything is shown as 1700337231. And the rank is hero member.  Tongue
I don't know if it's the right board to post this. Since it's related to the forum I'm posting it here.

10  Other / Off-topic / Needed linux distro suggestion on: November 18, 2023, 02:26:12 PM
I just got an old piece of laptop recently (temporary). So I was thinking of trying a linux distro as a daily user. I can't change it again and again. I'm reposting this as a topic this time.

My requirements aren't that much. Everything a windows user can do should be enough for me. As example, browsing, writing in Microsoft word (or any other word alternative), gaming a little (Age of empire, call of duty etc), Using VPN, programming in visual studio code, watching movies and stuff etc.

Also the distro has to be stable, bug free with LTS support. And able to customize a little would be nice (Not heavy but only little). The OS itself shouldn't lag, or have any performance issue.

I have heard many people saying they face problem when installing drivers, especially graphics drives, so I'm unsure of what to do with that.

Previously I was thinking of using Linux Mint Xfce 21.2 Victoria edition, later I though of using MATE edition. But now I got confused again. So here I am, asking for the suggestion, from the seniors.

My specs:
  • CPU: Core i-5-7200U @ 2.50 GHz 2.71 GHz
  • Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 940MX
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • SSD: 240 GB
11  Other / Beginners & Help / [Eng: Tutorial] Kali NetHunter - Linux on Android on: November 08, 2023, 12:51:57 PM
Inspired by Learn Bitcoin's comprehensive guide on PGP, I've decided to create a tutorial on installing Kali NetHunter on Android device (Rootless).

Using this Android users will gain the ability to utilize PGP encryption on their devices with NetHunter. Hence completing the trilogy of guides on PGP across Windows, Linux and Android platform.

This tutorial is made on Android 11, but it should also work seamlessly on Android 12, 13 and 14.

Minimum installation requirements:

  • 1. Minimum 15–20 GB of storage
  • 2. Knowledge of Command Prompt and Terminal apps
  • 3. A working brain

➥ Step 1: Install Termux app from github/F-droid (Use VPN, in case of slow download).

Quote

➥ Step 2: Open termux and enter the following command to update package

Code:
pkg update -y

Quote

➥ Step 3: When prompted for an action press Y and <Enter> so you install the package maintainer’s version (6 times)

Quote

➥ Step 4: Allow storage permission

Code:
termux-setup-storage

Quote

➥ Step 5: Install wget

Code:
pkg install wget

Quote

➥ Step 6: Download NetHunter installation file

Code:
wget -O install-nethunter-termux https://offs.ec/2MceZWr

Quote

➥ Step 8: Execute the file

Code:
./install-nethunter-termux

Quote

➥ Step 9: Enter the image you wanna install. You can choose full, minimal, nano. I will go for no 1.

Quote

➥ Step 10: Press N when asked for delete rootfs (The installation will take a while, 15-30 minutes depending on your internet speed).

Quote

After step 10, you will have to fix dbus-x11 error. Users are most likely to get this error after the first installation. To fix this problem you just have to change the DNS server and update some package.

Fix dbus-x11 error

➥ Step 11: Run the following command

Code:
nh -r

Quote

➥ Step 12: Open the file /etc/resolve.conf

Code:
nano  /etc/resolve.conf

Quote

➥ Step 13: Edit the ip address to 8.8.8.8, Then Press ctrl + x and enter Y to save

Quote

➥ Step 14: Run apt update and apt install dbus

Code:

12  Other / Meta / Is it just me? Bitcointalk slow!!! on: November 02, 2023, 04:27:33 PM
Anyone facing issue accessing bitcointalk? I am unable to browse bitcointalk normally. It's so slow. The pages taking forever to reload. Is it just me or everyone else? My location is "Bangladesh". Can anyone check why is it so slow, or the cause of high ping. My point is, it's not as it was before.

Other sites and apps are working just fine, no network issue.

I'll lock the thread after some hour.
13  Other / Meta / Bitcointalk won't connect SSL handshake failed on: October 27, 2023, 04:02:55 AM
Hey, has anyone facing this error?

SSL handshake failed Error code 525

I have tried to change browser but it won't go away. I don't know if it's my side problem or bitcointalk side. Even 5 minutes ago everything was fine. Now I'm unable to login. Recently there was a fire in our main ISP provider company. That's why 70% wifi was down throughout the whole country. I don't know if that caused it. Other sites like youtube, facebook are still working. Weird.

Note: Miraculously got Fixed.

14  Other / Beginners & Help / How hacked assets are made re-usable? on: October 26, 2023, 02:40:38 PM
I had a list of questions, and I'm hoping you guys can answer them.

Literally every day, we see the news of an exchanges getting hacked. X hacker group hacked Y exchange and drained all of its assets. For example, let's say the Lazarus hacking group. These hacks are still happening. My question is: how are these hacked funds used, or how they are making these funds reusable? If one loses its funds, are they lost forever? It won't matter if it's hacked or not. Is this a thing?

In paper currency, there is a term called "tainted money", meaning those funds were obtained with illegal means. If one gets caught using this, he can get locked up for a long time. Is it also true for crypto? Is there a thing like tainted crypto?

For criminals, we have interpol. They have access to almost all countries, except some, as far as I know. They can be considered universal police. Is there also a universal police for crypto? Like higher regulatory authorities overseas, which monitor all crypto activity.

Another thing I forgot to mention is that there are many mixing services through which we can make our funds anonymous. Or, perhaps, hackers use these services to hide their tracks so that they can use those funds (illegally obtained) anonymously? Am I right in any way?

1. How are hacked crypto assets made re-usable?
2. Is tainted crypto also a thing?
3. Is there any higher regulatory authority that monitors crypto related illegal activity?

I don't know if it's the proper board for these questions. Let me know if it isn't and I'll move it.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Crack seed phrases with brute force? on: October 22, 2023, 01:39:58 PM
Everyone knows that the words that are used for seed phrases are not random. The BIP39 wordlist (2048 words) is used for creating seedphrases, and they hold a specific meaning. The last seed word generates a checksum, which validates the data. Also, the wordlist isn't infinite, meaning we have a certain parameter.

My question is, Is it possible to crack a seedphrase with brute force? Suppose you have a lot of computing power. Like having a super or quantum computer.

I am not talking about recovering a lost wallet or missing seed words. I know there are many Python based tools, like btcrecover, that can perform this task. If one had the original seed (wrong order) or a part of the seed, like 10 out of 12 words or 21 out of 24 words, one might be able to successfully recover the wallet.

What I am referring to is taking completely random words from BIP39, run some tools and algorithms, and try to make a valid existing seed (Having balance or no balance isn't important).

I know this might be a stupid question, and a lot of you might be wondering why I wanted to know this. The thing is, I saw a bunch of videos on YouTube and Facebook where some tools were trying to bruteforce seeds. They were using thousands of combinations of seeds (I forgot to save the video link). I understand, it might be fake. But is there any technical explanation for my question?

Another small question, why does BIP39 has only 2048 words? What's the reason? Is it related to any maths or equations?

I am not a hacker, cracker, or anything like that, but a curious person who wants to learn new things. If this topic already exists, please give me the reference link. I want to know more.
16  Other / Meta / Can I stake multiple BTC address? on: October 07, 2023, 01:31:17 PM
I was wondering if I could stake multiple BTC addresses on Bitcointalk! We all know that, in case our account gets compromised or hacked, we can use our stacked BTC address to sign a message to show that I am the real owner of the account in order to recover the account.

No matter how much we try to protect something, sometimes we cannot. It's the same for the BTC address. That's why we see many cases of losing passphase or private keys due to hardware or software failure. It can be intentional or unintentional. Hacking, phishing or other means. Accidents happen, regardless of the precautions we take.

I had another question. It may sound somehow off topic. Is there a board on Bitcointalk where posts can't be edited or deleted?

I want to change my Bitcointalk password because it's been some time since I changed it. I feel like we should change our password at least once a year. But I don't like the message that says, This user recently changed the password. It may sometimes make others suspicious. That's why, before changing the password, I want to make a post on Bitcointalk saying, I, DYING_S0UL, the real owner of this account, am going to change the password.

Some might say, Why don't you stake BTC or PGP and sign a message saying that? The thing is, I don't have a desktop device at this moment. Most of the time, I use Bitcointalk on my mobile. I hope everyone understands my situation.
17  Other / Meta / What are the capabilities of these ranks in Bitcointalk? on: October 06, 2023, 09:21:12 AM
I will try to keep it as short and simple as possible. I know there are many ranks and positions in Bitcointalk. Like newbie, Jr, member, full member Sr, hero, and lastly legendary. Also, there is donator and copper member, moderator, and global moderator. And there are those who are most trusted known as DT members. Lastly staff, administrator, and founder.

I wanted to know the capabilities of these ranks and positions. If I say more specifically, I would like to know the difference between moderators, staff, and DT. These 3 position holds much influence in the forum. I want to know the extent of these positions. And who holds the power to ban a user? As far as I know, moderators are in charge of different boards for spam and illegal activities and reporting them and deleting them. I don't know what the staff does, maybe they check the reports and ban them. As for DT they are the most trusted members of the forum. Do they hold the same powers? Like banning somebody? What are their limits? Can a DT be staff or moderator and vice versa. As for the rest of the ranks, I know enough.

I know it may sound like a stupid question but I created this thread anyway. It was just a curious mind question to know the forum and its members.
18  Economy / Reputation / Anything suspicious? on: September 29, 2023, 12:09:05 PM
Do you see anything suspicious about this thread? Apparently, most of the users registered on the same day, almost exactly the same time. And they all choose to reply to this specific thread with some random "interesting, well done, useful, thank you" type unnecessary comment. Their usernames are also of similar pattern. It looked liked possible alt accounts.

[I know having alt accounts are not a crime, but still I thought of reporting it as it looked like spam to me]

19  Other / Meta / What's a trust list? on: September 17, 2023, 04:16:11 PM
I have been on this amazing forum for some time. I learned a lot. But one thing I saw a lot of but didn't quite have a good understanding of was the trust list. My question is simple: "What's a trust list?" and "What's an ignore list?" and "How do these work?"

First of all, I was previously messing with my profile settings, and I saw a bunch of user names on my ignore list. Later, I checked again and saw there was only one user name on my ignore list. I don't know if I was mistaken the first time. I never added any usernames to those lists or edited anything. So was it automatically added by the forum administration?

I checked the username, and it was a real user. Probably some scammer or any red-tagged user. I honestly don't know. So these were my questions. Can anybody elaborate on how it works?

20  Other / Meta / Is Bitcoin Forum a user? on: September 06, 2023, 01:15:14 PM
I know I shouldn't have just created a thread for something this small. So firstly, I am apologizing to the seniors. The thing is, I was reading posts as usual, and I came across this post: [TOP-200] The most generous users giving merits. There was a user at 95 named Bitcoin Forum. The name was unclickable. What is that exactly? Only 95 was black and all the others were blue. Is it a user or an admin? I'm both confused and curious.
