61  Economy / Gambling discussion / Sports betting promotion rev #2 - SportsGuru Promotion on: June 06, 2020, 07:43:25 PM
With sports starting again and in full swing I am restarting what I had started back at the beginning of the year with that thread having 1200 views.
So I thought why not have another one starting with a big special event being the UFC 250! Grin

I went with O'malley with a knock out! Wink

The starting prelims start in about 4 hours from now so it might be a little too late getting the initial giveaway for this thread going on for this promotion. But you can still get a feel on what is to come from this round of my promotional giveaways and predictions.

Nice blog post to get some selections for the rest of the matches available plus a multi-insurance bonus from them.
https://news.stake.com/ufc-250-predictions-and-betting-tips

Here are my selections from what I researched from the above link offered from stake. Very good write up from someone who really are into these fights.

https://promotions.stake.com/ufc-250-money-back/
note: minimum of $10usd for bet to qualify for this promotion

Also did the promotion from Sportsbet on the first round knock out from the Nunes fight. Here:
https://sportsbet.io/sports/event/sportsbet-specials/daily-specials/super-star-special/amanda-nunes-felicia-spencer-5edaeb440b8a7f7d9f18fbee

Thanks to both sites for offering a rock solid promotion on this quarter century of fights in the UFC to start things off in the sporting world coming back into the action! Wink
62  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Hardware wallets secure? Ethereum hacker selling databases from shopify hack on: May 29, 2020, 10:02:31 PM
Obtained from the shopify exploit exposed earlier in the past couple of weeks the one who hacked them is giving out, those who use specific hardware wallets, personal information to the highest bidder. Embarrassed

https://twitter.com/underthebreach/status/1264460979322138628?s=21

They can be plugged up by applying hotfixes to those devices for any further attempts at accessing your funds on said devices.

But using the shopify exploit one is still able to get an other information they wish for example from amazon. Undecided

So with the partnerships of shopify to facebook and not a crypto payments company coinpayments, they have alot of people in their sql databases which were compromised in these hacks.

https://betakit.com/shopify-partners-with-facebook-to-launch-facebook-shops
https://coinjournal.net/news/shopify-adds-coinpayments-support-to-bring-crypto-payments-to-millions-of-merchants

Maybe changing your passwords if you use these services wouldnt be such a bad idea.

Ledger did put out a statement saying the db info was fake:

I am not too sure but I think they are just doing damage control from that statement.
Because the hacker found a way to look at the sql files shopify has, that stores personal information from other sources such as ledger/amazon/so on.
They does not need to access anything from ledger at this point because ledger gave all the info to the shopify sql already which they are now at the hackers disposal.

I never really trusted in the ledger wallets before after seeing this video from about a year ago:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNBktKw9Is4

So maybe all hardware wallets in general are never really secure. Sad
63  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Cryptopia: Bitcoin, blockchains and the future of the internet movie on: May 26, 2020, 10:36:43 PM
I had thought I'd seen the word "cryptopia" in a couple of posts I was read today and just glanced over the subject's were just discussions about the defunct exchange which was hacked and eventually went down last year. So didn't care much for these threads.

But then I noticed there was a film with the very same name released earlier in the month.
https://cryptopiafilm.com
First time I had heard of this and since it was the second film from the same person who did Bitcoin: The end of money as we know it, I just had to take a look at this film.
https://cointelegraph.com/news/industry-leaders-battle-over-the-future-of-crypto-in-new-documentary
The film maker says in this interview with cointelegraph for the film he had to create another film (the last one was 5 years ago Undecided ) of such a fascinating technology and the big name leaders in the cryptospace who are battling each other behind the scenes.
https://youtu.be/l6vmLc1Bovw

Here is the trailer for it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgjwepAeRu4

Looks very interesting and with all our similar reasons for being here, I would like to think others here have this same feeling of a need to view it. Smiley
64  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Inside the Crypto-Kingdom: four separte docufilms about recent events on: May 25, 2020, 01:01:40 AM
Just noticed these documentary films which were published at the start of May just in time for the pizza day celebration. Smiley
If you have 2.5 hours to kill then go ahead and give them a watch. Some short inteviews from Bobby Lee and Roger ver along with other notable names in the cryptocurrency community.

Inside the Crypto-Kingdom:
The Genesis - Talks about the financial woes in Argentina using fiat and how cryptocurrency can alleviate this problem.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tc7M91bp_u8

In Code We Trust - Vitalik and other creators of cryptocurrencies based on blockchain technology
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_qT3cos8Kc

The Machine Ordered Universe - How bitcoin and the other cryptocurrencies after it are going to shape our future world and make it different going to the 21st century. The BTC family is featured and how they are doing now from living soley on bitcoin for the past few years.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmGGjVgESFE

The Cryptocurrency Goldrush - Talks about the symbolism of pizza to bitcoin and what wealth is compared to cryptocurrency. This is not its sole purpose but to define a generational uprising of the financial system as we know it today.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiPG-5D4XKo
65  Economy / Speculation / Bitmex being sued for BTC market manipulation by same ones who did it to XRP on: May 19, 2020, 06:34:18 PM
Bitmex are being accused from BMA LLC having of orchestrated the largest financial crime of American history.
Illegal wire fraud and money laundering of $3 million each day (but I would imagine it to be more everytime btc price rises closer to $10k) calling them a racketeering company and operating without a legal money transmitter license.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAx22xq167E&t=1160s

They have been accused of having employees trading against their customers. And everyone who is one of their customers are very suspicious of them doing these outages (even one just happened last night, while the price of btc was having a mini bullrun up to $10k) on purpose so people can not exit from their positions then get their btc liquidated.

This seems like massive market manipulation on an unforeseen level nearing that of criminal activity.
66  Other / Meta / Unmasking Satoshi Nakamoto surfaces and talks about members of this forum on: May 16, 2020, 01:36:12 AM
While watching Youtube TV a suggestion came on all the sudden from what I have been posting about in the past month.

Bitcoin - Unmasking Satoshi Nakamoto
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfcvX0P1b5g

It is from this youtuber by the name of Barely Sociable which has done some well known videos in the past among Solving The Internet's Oldest Mystery.
They are well done videos on their production value alone.

Now this one caught my immediate attention when they began directly mentioning about the forum creator theymos and some core devs including luke-jr.
They even feature some past posts from r/bitcoin of theirs.

I dont know if these members are aware of what they had said were referenced in this video created May 11th and published on youtube or not.
It is primarily concerning censorship on here and how it was handled back in then.
67  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Visa now wants the removal of cash from their system to create a digital dollar on: May 15, 2020, 02:06:50 PM
"Visa’s patent application, published by the United States Patent and Trademark Office on Thursday, is titled Digital fiat currency and describes a cryptocurrency system linked to fiat and based on private permissioned distributed ledger platform(DLT). And it sounds rather similar to a stablecoin or a digital dollar.
  • Global payment cards company Visa has filed a patent application for a blockchain-based digital currency.
  • The document describes a system that would allow removing "the physical currency from circulation in a fiat currency system.”
  • Visa's invention sounds a lot like a stablecoin or "digital dollar."

source: https://decrypt.co/28968/visa-seeks-patent-for-a-digital-dollar

The largest financial platform in the world wants to do this?
Well then, blockchain technology is a success! Grin
BTC will still benefit from this at any rate even if it is a stable coin.

Just look at coinbase and their use of USDC.
People are using it in abundance because they found out you can cut out several fees(trading/exchanging) to transfer off their pro platform instead of BTC and occurring their high transaction fees in doing so.
Some are even saying you can avoid on a gains tax if in the states since they do hand over your trading activity to the IRS. Wink
68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin and Friends episode released before the halving not throwing up 12.5btc on: May 11, 2020, 01:26:34 PM
Cointelegraph did an interview about this episode launch just before the halving:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azJNss2ivu8

Episode 5 released yesterday for the occasion that is gripping the cryptocurrency world today.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHNGKvQS13k

They are doing virtual party to mark the occasion which starts in 32 minutes from now.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-yhq5u1nJ8
Around 5.9k people are already signed in and chatting about it right now. Smiley
69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Craig wright found to have plagiarized his PhD-not really a doctor of anything on: May 06, 2020, 04:11:58 PM
https://medium.com/@paintedfrog/craig-wright-plagiarized-significant-portions-of-his-phd-thesis-and-tried-to-hide-it-80cd8f01459
"Wright plagiarized huge swaths of content and reworded it to avoid automated detection tools. In most cases, he simply substituted synonyms every few words."

Looking at all the highlights in his thesis resembles something coming from a farting unicorn.
70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Navi 21 next generation of rdna better to mine than current navi cards? on: April 30, 2020, 07:59:05 PM

I was thinking of how much the overclocked version of the sapphire 5700 xt nitro special edition cards with Core Clock 1840 MHz & Boost Clock 2035 MHz would get on the ethash algorithm the other day.
It depends on the algorithm, ethash benefits from higher memory clock (and especially memory timing) but for equihash you need some core too.
But with the announcement yesterday of the next iteration of navi will have double the performance. But for what? Just for gaming or mining as well?

71  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The Bitcoin Gospel - A documentary from back in 2015 still revelant today? on: April 30, 2020, 03:41:31 PM
I had not watched this documentary about cryptocurrency before stumbling upon it with youtubes suggestion algorithm since I have been watching a bunch of crypto related videos lately.
It started off with yours truly Roger Ver talking about transactions and thought it was going to be all about kissing up to bitcoin jesus himself but then was gladly corrected when they mention about his past in dealing with cryptocurrencies. Along with him selling illegal fireworks then serving jail time for it.
So it wasn't a one sided documentary to my surprise. Wink

"I'm sorry but I get so angry.."
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Grayscale has bought almost 50% of all ethereum mined this year on: April 30, 2020, 01:37:26 PM
"Grayscale Investments —the world’s largest digital currency asset management — has purchased about 48.4% of all mined ETH so far this year, possibly to attract more investors in anticipation of Ethereum 2.0.
They have bought 756539.777104 ETH since December 31, 2019, which represents a little less than 50% of the total ETH mined during the year, this data can be verified by comparing the number of tokens that the firm had since December, concerning the last stats reported on its page."

https://zycrypto.com/crypto-investment-giant-bets-big-on-ethereum-with-rapid-increase-in-purchases

This amount of ethereum is an astounding amount for one sole entity to amass in a short amount of time.
Just imagine if one individual had this amount of bitcoin in their possession. Lips sealed
73  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Movie about cryptocurrency makes #2 of U.S box office during slump of hollywood on: April 24, 2020, 03:50:12 PM
With the hollywood industry grinding to a halt and offering it's big releases to online streaming services such as disney plus and amazon/netflix instead.
Some have made movies and actually released them to theaters.

https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/jgewky/how-a-random-guy-made-the-2-movie-in-america-for-dollar1000
https://decrypt.co/26228/monero-cinema-crypto-us-documentary

Some other film called Phoenix, Oregon Cheesy beat it last week but still an accomplishment in its own right.
74  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin twitter account today asks "If you met satoshi what would you say?" on: April 21, 2020, 09:29:40 PM
Who actually operates this @bitcoin {bitcoin} twitter account because they tweeted this question about 4 hours ago:

https://twitter.com/Bitcoin/status/1252640068029874180

From the comments people are saying "Hi" Sergey, Craig and satoshi.
So with the date registered August 2011 it is a very old one. Shocked
75  Other / Politics & Society / Reuters say Kim Jong has possibly contracted covid 19 on: April 21, 2020, 03:17:22 AM
Well this wasnt going to be undetected for very long but North korea did have a parade day for the founding fathers on april 15th and the leader was not in attendance.
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-northkorea-politics/south-korea-says-north-koreas-kim-is-not-seriously-ill-yonhap-idUSKBN2230AV
Even if they deny it just because it is north korea, the iron curtain, it could be possible.

Someone was saying this was first of trending on twitter. Embarrassed
76  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / $3 billion in 'dust' to enter the market will push the bull run past the halving on: April 20, 2020, 10:36:24 PM
According to messari a crypto data gathering company has explained all this dust is just accumulating ready and posed to enter the crypto space soon.
https://dailyhodl.com/2020/04/19/3000000000-in-dry-powder-poised-to-enter-bitcoin-btc-and-cryptocurrency-markets-messari-ceo

Been listening to them since they are a website many are using now with turning away from using coinmarketcap at being a centralized market watching website with the acquisition by binance a month ago.
77  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Another crypto youtuber given a ban for breach of terms of service. on: April 20, 2020, 09:42:08 PM
The well known crypto information channel had been taken down at around the same time as tone vays youtube channel was over the weekend.
He was one of two who received the notice from the video streaming platform but have since had their channel reinstated by going through the same process tone vays did by going to twitter for voicing to their fan base in support of their favorite crypto youtuber Ben from btc sessions.
He posted a video right after his appeal was heard and retracted almost immediately.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGHojpGofBI

I think the algorithm youtube is using has targeted these particular accounts due to the subject matter they are streaming about. One being cryptocurrency and two the word scam in some of their videos. Roll Eyes

https://twitter.com/BTCsessions/status/1251067820852428800
He had stated in the above video he had helped retrieve money from a scammer and gave it charity but this was over a year ago.
So I dont know why their algorithm is reaching so far back in their investigation process.

https://twitter.com/BTCsessions/status/1251185902275031040

So ben did do a test stream the next day. Here is how that went after the ban was lifted. Cheesy
https://twitter.com/BTCsessions/status/1251352982886600705
78  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Tone Vays channel deleted from youtube on: April 16, 2020, 06:18:13 PM
After watching his channel for the past month on and off (not a daily viewer but since in lockdown) noticed his channel is no more.
https://twitter.com/ToneVays/status/1250809610610642946

Strange how he had published videos almost everyday for along time and all the sudden this happens? Embarrassed
79  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin can go to proof of stake after they see how ethereum goes on: April 15, 2020, 01:37:16 AM
Bitcoin Suisse founder has mentioned bitcoin could possible go proof of stake some time in the future.
They are going to follow suit after seeing how ethereum's own iteration goes with casper and beacon? Embarrassed
https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-will-follow-ethereum-and-move-to-proof-of-stake-says-bitcoin-suisse-founder
I dont think it would be possible with the way bitcoin was built to not allow this since it could mess up things in some capacity since it was never intended to but to keep the network going with miners in the loop. Undecided
80  Economy / Gambling discussion / Sport betting site offering bets on the Covid-19 pandemic. Worst site now. on: April 11, 2020, 03:57:43 PM
While watching a streamer of their gambling bets they showed a site where they had lines for something to do with it. Embarrassed
I was appalled when I saw one of these sportsbetting sites were having odds on the covid19 virus.
I didnt see the details of the bet but it couldnt have been good. Undecided
They should lose their license if they are putting lines up for this as it not a joke or something to bet on.
