#10129 April 27, 2013 Chips ordered ฿782.10 for 1 item

Remainder
Only send payments from an address you control (i.e. you can sign with it). If you send from MtGox or other exchanges, you risk loosing your funds since you can't prove you sent them.

How to sign:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=179769.msg1922342#msg1922342

Policy update: Refunds
Your orders are binding after your funds have been used to pay for a batch. Before that (while coins are piling up for the next batch), you can demand for a refund and will get it paid back in full. Note that after you got refunded, I will not accept future orders from you (to prevent free risk-offloading to me).

Terms:

  • Total BTC PER order is 782.1 BTC (Before fees)!
  • The final 2.1 BTC shipping price will be divided by how many ever people are buying the chips - so if 20 then 2.1/20 and will be added to your contribution! It is currently set to 0.0525 (divided by 40 people) - I will refund any extra and if we go over I will cover the rest to save everyone a headache of sending more!
  • Minimum BTC required to invest is 1BTC! Which equates to about 12 Chips! Each Chip costs 0.078BTC
  • You will be responsible for paying your own individual shipping when the ship arrives in the US (Connecticut)
  • Chips will be shipped as soon as they arrived (if time/weather allows) and as soon as I know the address that they're going to.
  • Individual Shipping will be required to have tracking! Individual also include custom fees!
  • In order to provide the best protection for your investments I will buy packing supplies to make 100% sure your product isn't damaged during the shipment.
  • There will be a 5% fee for organizing this group buy and shipping out individually to contributors. It takes time to keep track of everything. Takes gas to drive back and forth to ship out. Etc.
  • BTC will be sent to this address: 1Q429SRTE6wRiXfThyABoyfU7Eygc3qaBF
  • Before sending please confirm with me so I can tell you how much to send.
  • All chips amount will be realistically rounded down. If you want your amount to be rounded to the next number use the Chip Calculator in the spreadsheet.

Shipment
The chips will be forwarded to you as soon as I receive them and you paid the fiat component mentioned above. Delivery within USA will usually take less than a week; overseas will take what it takes. You will be given the option to select shipment method on time and resolve custom specific issues.

Trust
JohnK has confirmed and verified all my identifications and shipping address destination from utility bills - so you can feel safe in this group buy.

Group Buy#1 I have been 100% compliant with any requests so I will do the same for this group buy and for future batches Smiley

Communication
I live in CT, USA Eastern Standard Times. I work at home so most PMs and replies to the thread will be answered shortly. I do require 6-8 hours of sleep so if I am not here please don't be discouraged Wink

Who should buy and who should not
You can order chips either if you plan to develop your own mining board, or want to buy a ready-to-mine assembled from other developers / manufacturers. In the latter case, with your order you secure the chips from the current batch and decide where to send them for assembly when they arrive.

Escrow
I did not offer escrow for a simple reason: as soon as the payments fill up to 782.1 BTC, I'll order another batch. No idea how long the chips will be in stock, but I would like to act fast. The first group had a few delays because I took pledges first and when those pledges filled I proceeded to collect the funds. And by doing that it caused delays because over 300+ BTC pledged were pulled out. So I will NOT be taking pledges. You must have BTC in hand to participate.

Reservation, Payments
This is a first come first serve group buy. Only participate if you have BTC on hand!

Extras:
I am also currently working on an ASICs project with the local engineers in my state. I will keep everyone updated on how far we will proceed. We do not have anything concrete yet, just getting our feet wet. Who knows, some people might want their chips to be made into a mining machine.

Update:

Yes there's room. We're going by BTC sent now. First come first serve. We will be removing pledges that have not sent BTC soon!

First check out the DIY (Do It Yourself) Thread for Avalon ASICs chips:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=161715.0

Hey all, as you all know Avalon just put up a pre-order for their ASICs chips. But they are only selling 10,000 chips per order! This will be over 780 bitcoins (+2.1 bitcoins to ship to the US!) I know 99.9% of you guys and people like me CANNOT afford to buy all these chips alone! So therefore I am putting together a group buy for this! I can ship worldwide but you will be responsible for the shipping costs!

  • We will be using JohnK's Escrow Service
  • We will be paying JohnK 1.5% of 782.1
  • There will be a 1% fee for organizing this group buy and shipping out individually to contributors. It takes time to keep track of everything. Takes gas to drive back and forth to ship out. Etc.
  • NO BTC WILL BE GOING TO ME! Send to Escrow Address

UPDATE #7

Alright guys. I will be start taking your individual shipping addresses for this order. We will do it email style so it will be much easier for me to keep track. Depending where you are located in the world I will do my best to give you an estimate for the shipping based on how many chips you bought. Also remember how much BTC you contributed to the group and how fast you sent the BTC to escrow will be weighted in when I do shipping etc. That is why I am making a list now.

Without further a due please email the following to avalonasics@gmail.com

*Note for Address please include as much detail as possible and make it accurate as much as possible.

UPDATE #6

JohnK Confirmed Shipping Address:

I received the utility statement and it matches OP's address and everything.

We're at around 100 if I'm not wrong (check the spreadsheet for he red highlighted number) as someone dropped 5.16 BTC without confirming with me or this thread. That amount is not counted atm in the pot, and the overpayments too.

UPDATE #5
We have reached the threshold! Please start sending to:

1At75rKd6e8b7S7AAPzZ5V3kAzhkGYhnpU

I also updated the column on how much you NEED to send to Escrow's Address.

The formula:

(# of BTC Pledged)*(JohnK's Fees)*(OP's Fees) + (2.1 |Avalon's Shipping| divided by 65 total people)

Group Buy#1 is now currently closed and will not be accepting any more pledges.

The escrow address for ragingazn628's group buy transaction for Avalon ASICs chips would be:

Please state and agree to the conditions (if item is received damaged, item lost with tracking, customs fee etc) beforehand.

If possible, GPG sign your agreement to prevent any discrepancies later on and please ship with tracking to prevent problems during delivery. The fine print:
This Contract is solely generated for the purpose of facilitating the transaction between the seller and the buyer, which refers to the pseudonyms used on bitcointalk.org.
The escrow holder, John, assumes and gives no liability or guarantees on the satisfaction of all parties involved, although he agrees to mediate and facilitate the deal to the fullest extent he is capable of.  On the event that any problems arises, he will release the escrow to whichever party that presents him with the most convincing proof and/or after an open discussion with others or theymos.
The verbal acceptance by both parties (or the failure to reject) and the sending of Bitcoins to the escrow address above constitutes the acceptance of the terms and conditions stated, and the activation of this Contract.

Thank you.

UPDATE #2:

Quote
But our situation is different because we have myself, the pool of contributor, escrow, and Avalon.
Yeah, that's why I pointed out that an escrow service isn't going to provide the same kind of protection in this case.  The only thing John would be able to provide, is ensuring that the chips get ordered; he can't really protect them after that.

If you personally had 780BTC, you could give that to John as collateral, but I don't know anyone who would be crazy enough to lock away 780BTC for a few months. Tongue

Quote
Check out the spreadsheet to make sure I didn't miss your name from the list please.
Please put me down for 46.926 BTC for 600 chips, + however much is needed for fees (currently 2%).

EDIT: Oh, and thank you for taking the time to put all of this together.

Thanks! I added another column to show how many chips people are getting (Realistically rounding down because you can't have 3/4 a chip lol). I added you for 47 BTC so you will be getting 602 chips! Just makes math and other things easier a bit.

I went ahead and put in the really long number for the spread sheet too 12.820512820512820512820512820513 CHIPS PER BTC!

So please everyone contribute in BTC and not in how many chips you want Smiley

I got 12.820512820512820512820512820513 from 10,000 divided by 780 BTC - for shipping and fees I will make it separate later once the 780 is reached.

For example I will be putting in 17BTC so I will make another column in the spreadsheet to tell you how much you will be sending to JohnK.

( 17 + (2.1 / # of people contributing for shipping) ) * 1.02
This way it is a lot more accurate so if you want in just in the number of BTC - no weird decimals though please - .25 / .5 etc. is fine.

AGAIN PLEASE NOTE:

I will use this formula to calculate the total BTC that you will be sending to JohnK:

( [# of BTC Contributing to Pool] + (2.1 / [# of people contributing for shipping]) ) * [JohnK + OP Fees]

Google Spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ah5wT_NTrV00dFhHY2NoOXpvSnVMbDVWUmFaSTVjTmc#gid=0

UPDATE #1:

Steps:

1. We will all send him BTC to a designated address. (1-3% fees for his troubles)
2. He will order Avalon ASICs chips for us.
3. I will give JohnK my address so the chips will be shipped to me.
4. I will handle the shipment to participants and will make it my #1 priority (1% for my troubles organizing and shipping / gas to drive / time etc.)

How does that sound? NO BTC WILL BE GOING TO ME. Only 1 person sent me BTC so far and he will be refunded.

Check this for updated list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ah5wT_NTrV00dFhHY2NoOXpvSnVMbDVWUmFaSTVjTmc#gid=0

27  Economy / Trading Discussion / Craigslist Avalon ASICs batch #2 scam! on: April 13, 2013, 06:45:24 PM
I don't know who's who anymore but from the picture I can see "Coastermonger".

Craiglist's link:
http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/sys/3710377659.html

A quick google search and I found an eBay link:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Avalon-ASIC-Batch-2-Bitcoin-Mining-Rig-BTC-/321096474742?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ac2d76076

eBay user: Coastermonger
http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/coastermonger?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

These link to the fact that the machine is maybe in Indiana and some guy in orangecounty is trying to sell it as well? I emailed the guy from craigslist and gave him my phone number and we talked for an hour. I recorded ~30min.

His number 760-705-8888 - Apparently scammers use this phone number after I looked into it!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoN-3H_4R3k

He said:

  • He was in the underground business for selling FPGAs
  • He just relocated to Nevada
  • The price was negotiable and so he lowered it to $2000...
  • Called me the next day and said someone was also interested in buying it for 10BTC but I can have it first for 10BTC.
  • He wasn't technical so that's why he's selling it.
  • He knows Coastermonger in Indiana.
  • I asked him how is he selling FPGAs if he wasn't technical. He said I know how to put the motherboard / graphics cards / CPU / RAM together on an FPGA - LOL!

The whole point of this post is to warn everyone. I don't know if this is Coastermonger or someone trying to scam through him etc. Coastermonger's phone is listed in the eBay page. I tried calling but no pick up.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

33  Bitcoin / Group buys / [Group Buy] Avalon ASICs Batch #4 (Planning) on: April 08, 2013, 06:35:30 PM
Are you a newcomer to Cryptocurreny? Don't have enough BTC to pre-order an Asics Machine? Don't like taking such a huge risk?

Well... I have been in the bitcoin game but recently cashed out when it was $94/BTC. I only have 17 coins left. Assuming there will be another Batch for Avalon, I am looking for people to chip in. I will personally use my remaining 17 coins for this batch. I am looking for people similar to my situation (not enough BTC or don't want to take such a big risk).

Read the following terms carefully before investing with me. You are basically buying a piece of an Avalon ASIC that I will host myself for a small fee.

Why you should trust me? I have been around these forums and have a good standing with the community. I have traded over $15,000 worth of bitcoins (I can provide proof). With newer technology (ASICs) my graphics card miners don't seem to put a dent in the harder difficulty and I can no longer afford to rebuy my sold bitcoins to have enough for an ASICs machine so I'm sure most people are on the same boat.

Terms:
  • Dividends will be payed monthly to the Bitcoin address you send your original investment with. (Make sure you can both send and receive Bitcoins from this address!!)
  • Before dividends are divided up and payed, electricity costs (~.12 Kwh), a 3% hosting fee, and the pool's fee (yet to be determined) will be taken out of the net profits.
  • Shipping costs will be taken out of the first dividend payment.
  • Dividends will be paid proportionally according to each investors initial investment [investing 1 BTC in a 75 BTC ASIC gets you 1/75 of the profits (after subtracting electricity costs and a 3% hosting fee).]
  • If there's not enough Bitcoins collected to buy an Avalon ASIC, then all funds will be immediately refunded to the address with which they were sent.
  • If I collect enough funds for more than one Avalon, then I will purchase however many the group fund can afford.
  • Any left over funds collected will be refunded to the last investors in line. Unfortunately, those investors left out will not receive any portion of dividends (for the amount they were refunded), but nonetheless will be refunded 100%.
  • I will use this thread to keep investors updated for now, until a better solution is determined in the near future.

How to invest:

Please note: You do NOT have to send any BTC right now. I would prefer it if you send it a week before pre-order date (if any lol)

  • Minimum investment is 1 Bitcoin
  • Send your investment to (removed for now since we're just planning this)
  • Reply with the Bitcoin address you are sending from and the total amount you are investing.
  • I will confirm in the OP that you have payed and reserved your shares in the group buy.

People who are interested:
  • 17 BTC - Me
  • 10 BTC - rttnpig
  • 1  BTC -Luckybit
  • 5 BTC - dmo580
  • 2 BTC - dazzle
  • 2 BTC - rammy2k2
  • 40 BTC - Rallye
  • 2 BTC - haaning

Currently have enough for at least 1 Avalon! Going for 2 now!

Total:
79/75 BTC

Anyone know the roughly the total cost to withdraw via bank transfer from mtgox? $1000? $10,000? Is it a flat fee or percentage?

How long will it take?

Any horror stories?
