1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / BitCoin-Qt 0.6.2Beta Exception: 11DbException on: August 20, 2013, 05:33:44 PM
I started up Bitcoin-qt last night to refresh the blocks and transfer some coins and while it was running I saw a message in the bottom left corner.

EXCEPTION: 11DbException
Db::put: Not enough space
F:\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe in ProcessMesage()

Its stalled on Block 252450

Now I have looked through here a little in the last 12 hours to find some ideas.

I attempted to detach database and then copied the whole thing to another drive and still no change.
I was able to transfer all but 1 coin of my balance (since it cant see past above block to see new coin) to another wallet address and changed the address to my minders till I get this resolved.  I did make another backup and have older backup but that is from several months ago.

I can assume that with the backups that my wallet address is safe, but what are the next steps that I need to take to resolve this.  I do not want to uninstall bitcoin-qt until I am sure that I wont lose anything or as a last resort step.

Could I just download a newer bitcoin-qt, install it on different drive and import one of the backups?  Would that get everything back on track other then the re-sync of the blocks?

Thanks in advance.

2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Bitcoin-Qt Heavy Usage on: June 09, 2013, 09:47:45 PM
I am using Bitcoin-Qt version 4.8.3 and I have it running on my computer 24/7.  Since I also run a proxy on my computer I have a network usage monitor on.

I was checking some usage today and I think I found something alarming.

Just in June alone, as of this posting I have used:
3.79 GB Download
57.64 GB Uploaded

almost 60 GIG uploaded??!!??  That has to be something wrong.

What client can I use besides blockchain.info?
3  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Raspberry Pi Model B for use with Bitcoin on: May 03, 2013, 08:47:03 PM
Afternoon,

I bought a Raspberry Pi for the purpose of install the Slush proxy for Stratum and to also run the BFL miners when they come in.  I know that I can use MinerPeon when the BFL miners come in, but I have been trying various different distros to get the proxy to work.

I have tried straight Linux destros, Tiny, and Raspberry Pi specific.  None seem to install correctly.  Now mind you my linux is limited to what I learned to use BAMT, but I would like to believe that I have tried it correctly.

If anyone else has tried to use a Raspberry Pi for this purpose I would like to hear from you and see if you can help me.  Or if your are good with various Linux or good with the Slush Proxy.

The intent is to have a nice small footprint system running everything.  I know in the future that I wont need the proxy since the GPU rings will be outdated in time, but I would still like to run them as long as they are profitable.

Any help would be apprciated.

Thanks

4  Economy / Service Discussion / Blockchain.info Unauthorized Withdraw on: April 25, 2013, 10:55:25 PM
Twice in two weeks I have had coins removed from my account.  First time I could understand cause my ema may have been comprimized but I changed all my passwords and added the ip address logging to blockchain and did two key on google.

Less then hour ago I get notification via txt that another withdraw was done.
Again only one coin but still that's $130.

I log in and check log and there is no isp entry for anytime for withdraw. Only my entries on phone and computer.

Is therr something else that I should know?  My only other options would be go back to old wallet or restrict the ip address for blockchaiblockchain.

Again I changed my password.  It uses a combo of cap and lowercase letters numbers and symbols.

I have no virus on home computer.

Its the no log that really irks me.  How can a withdraw be made without an entry made.?

5  Bitcoin / Press / 04-21-2013 Gold Rush Article mentioning Bitcoin (briefly) on: April 21, 2013, 08:36:15 PM
http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2013/04/21/gold-fell-to-1400-welcome-to-the-new-gold-rush.aspx

With everyone talking about how the great gold boom is over, that with the price of gold tumbling to $1,400 an ounce the back of the yellow metal as a safe-haven investment  has been broken, you might be surprised to learn there's actually a new gold rush going on. With every drop in the price of gold (and silver, too), individuals are buying as much of the precious metal as they can.

According to the former assistant secretary of the Treasury under President Reagan, Dr. Paul Craig Roberts, the price collapse was an orchestrated attack on gold and silver coordinated by the Federal Reserve. The assault saw prices plunge an unprecedented 10% in one day at one point.  SPDR Gold Shares (NYSEMKT: GLD  ) is now 12% lower from where it started April, while the iShares Silver Trust (NYSEMKT: SLV  ) is down 18%.

For the tinfoil hat brigade, the collapse, coming as it did just days after President Obama met with the heads of Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, and Bank of America, was enough of a nexus to indicate that this was a response to the threats posed by gold (and even Bitcoin) to the Federal Reserve system.

Gold Price in US Dollars data by YCharts, Shaded area represents U.S. recession.

While I'm not sure I buy into conspiracy theories like that, I do know that if it's true, then the Law of Unintended Consequences must surely be at play. There's anecdotal evidence everywhere that despite the dumping of tons of paper gold assets on the market, demand for physical gold and silver has never been greater.

The new gold rush
Bullion dealers are reporting they're seeing individual purchases every bit as strong as occurred back in 2008. My bullion and coin dealer, JM Bullion, has upwards of a three-week delay in shipping American Silver Eagles, yet dealers everywhere are finding it increasingly difficult to get supply. Buyers from India to China are also racing to scoop up gold, with the China Gold Association reporting retail sales tripling in the country between April 15 and April 16, while Hong Kong and Macau have reported volume surges of as much as 150%.

The continued weakness in pricing is unique because it also comes at a time when supplies are being interrupted. Rio Tinto (NYSE: RIO  ) suffered a massive collapse in a wall at its Bingham Canyon copper mine in Utah, which accounts for 5% of total U.S. gold production and 16% of silver. Bingham Canyon is also the world's biggest copper mine, supplying about 1% of global copper, and is part of the reason I see a coming boom in the red metal.

At the same time, Barrick Gold (NYSE: ABX  ) is facing severe delays in the development of its huge Pascua Lama gold project in Chile, as an appeals court ordered the miner to halt work. Newmont Mining (NYSE: NEM  ) had its Peruvian Conga project placed on the "back burner" by officials after it clashed with locals.

Physical versus paper
Perhaps the global banksters are coordinating an attack on precious metals to protect their position, as the conspiracy theorists suggest, but if so, it seems their plan is backfiring, as they've instead created a tsunami of demand for physical gold and silver. Maybe governments are trying to sever the relationship precious metals have as safe-haven assets, but individuals still realize gold and silver has a store of value that can't be broken. So rather than placing a call to your stock broker to purchase certificates in exchange-traded funds, you just might want to visit your local precious-metals dealer and buy bullion instead.

Bank of America's stock doubled in 2012. Is there more yet to come? With significant challenges still ahead, it's critical to have a solid understanding of this megabank before adding it to your portfolio. In The Motley Fool's premium research report on B of A, analysts Anand Chokkavelu, CFA, and Matt Koppenheffer, Financials bureau chief, lift the veil on the bank's operations, including detailing three reasons to buy and three reasons to sell.
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Is there another miner like BAMT? on: March 03, 2013, 11:28:49 PM
With the BAMT site down now, and stratum needed to be manually added to BAMT, I am curious if there is an alternative to BAMT out there?

I have two rigs.  One headless and another has a monitor attached.

Both are running BAMT, but is there another option that would install completely on a usb drive and possibly have the Stratum update applied?

I placed this into the newbie forum since it is kinda newb-ish.

Any helpful advice would be appreciated.

7  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / BAMT Running, but Says Not Config'ed on: September 23, 2012, 11:44:07 PM
I have BAMT running, but it seems that it keeps the "no GPU detected" screen up.

I am getting a full load off all the cards but cant use the web monitor nor does the BAMT home screen update with stats.

I have tried restarting the computer, changing the config, restarting the miner process, stopping and starting the miner process.

Is there a command or process to force a recheck?

Thanks in advance

8  Other / Beginners & Help / Balance on PC vs Android App different? on: September 07, 2012, 03:23:36 AM
Evening,

I am posting this in the newbie area cause it may be a very newbie question.

I sent 10 coins to another online wallet through the normal BitCoin Wallet program that you download from the website.  I set it up to charge the 0.01 fee and it shows that 10.01 coins were sent to the address.

Now I have a App on my android phone called Wallet Balance.  It shows that 14.0 coins was sent, but what is odder still is my PC shows a balance of 20.2 Coins and the Android App shows 14.17 Coins.

It has been 48 hours and I believe the main PC total is correct, but if both are grabbing the same info, does anyone know why it could be so off?

It does show the transaction, but the totals are off. (both sent and remaining balance)

Could this just be a bug in the app or am I missing something else?

As always, thanks for the advice in advance.

9  Economy / Speculation / What do you think will happen in the next 4 Months??!?? on: August 07, 2012, 11:21:25 PM
I have been sitting and looking at how bitcoin has expanded in the course of the last 8 months and I have watched it grow and watch the bubble pop.  I have seen technology grow and the user base grow.  I have seen people embrace bitcoin and I have seen people take advantage of it and its users.

I know that there maybe a few dozen posts on this, but I wanted to get my 2 cents out there and see if someone can give me another perspective on my train of though.

So what does everyone thing what will happen in the next 4 months??

  • We have the reward block coming soon, that will halve the coins per block from 50 to 25
  • Butterfly Labs will be releasing their new system on or about Oct.
  • With that new hardware, I believe that the difficulty will spike quickly.  Do you think it will increase Ten, Fifty, Hundred Fold or will casual users give up and make the difficulty go back down?
  • Will the price of coins adjust higher to reflect the lower coins per block and this new difficulty

Do think think that bitcoin will hits its peak in the new year and fail or will it wane and then come back stronger?

10  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / AMD OverClock Auto-Start in Bamt on: July 16, 2012, 02:49:57 AM
I'm working on my second rig, and I am going through a lot more detailed then the first one.

I realized that the AMD Overclocker that is used to overclock the cards has a "auto-start" option when you click on it when its on the loader bar, but when I go to engage it, it give me a error saying that a file/directory is not found.  It is looking for amdoverdrivectrl.desktop, i just don't remember what directory it is look for it.  I believe I have it set up that the default setting is overclocked, just need the program to start up at boot.

I would like to get this set up as 100% headless.  My first rig has a monitor hooked up in case I lose power and have to restart it and set the overclock.

Any help in getting this to auto-start at power-up would be extremely helpful.

Thanks in advance as always.

11  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Setting BAMT Rig to static IP address on: June 17, 2012, 10:58:35 PM
Afternoon everyone,

After last night we had a few huge thunderstorms roll through and we lost power for a few minutes.  No damage was done, but I have noticed a little issue with my rig.  It is set up that I can view my status page via port forwarding on my router, but it seems that the rig likes to change its IP address when ever I have to shut it down or it loses power.

Its not a huge problem, but with getting more rigs, it will be a pain to change the routers settings for 6+ rigs each time I have a power outage or have to fix one of them.

Is there a way to set each rig to its same IP address that it assigns its self too each time?

Thanks in advance for the help as always.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Android Bitcoin App that uses Current Wallet on: June 03, 2012, 02:14:42 PM
Morning everyone,

I have a HTC Evo 3D 4G and I have several apps that i use for Bitcoin (actually have one whole page for them), but I have never found a Bitcoin program that I could use that I could send coins from one of my existing wallets.  They all create a new wallet address and seem to have no way of "importing" a wallet.

Is this a limitation or a security issue?  I would like to be able to sell/use coins from my wallet as needed when I'm using my android devices.

Thanks

13  Other / Beginners & Help / BAMT Card Settings Issue on RebootAMT config on: May 28, 2012, 03:30:25 AM
Evening everyone,

I have not had this come up too often on my end, but it may be an issue when I get more rigs going.

When ever I reboot my rig, I always have to go into the AMD/ATI Overclock program and reset the profile to HIGH.  If I dont, the first video card always runs at default settings, regardless of the setting setup in the BAMT config file.

Once I set the profile to HIGH, then everything is back to normal.

Is there a way to have this program auto start and default to HIGH or is there another issue?

Thanks in advance.
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Wireless Adapter to use with BaMT? on: May 12, 2012, 02:16:40 AM
Can anyone give me a suggestion and link of a wireless adapter that has been proven to work with BaMT?

I have seen a few on newegg and amazon that will work with linux, but I am unsure if they will work with BaMT.

Any help would be greatful.

I would prefer to use a wired connection, but due to power issues I have to have computer in separate rooms till I get a sub-panel installed.  So need wireless at least for the short term.

Thanks.
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Help with different Miner for BAMT on: March 17, 2012, 04:47:37 PM
Morning,

Well I have not gotten any help yet with my BAMT issue on why im only getting 212 Mh/s when I have it on the same settings as CGMiner and its getting 315-330 on the same make/model/version of video card.

So I guess the question now is, how do I install CGMiner as the miner that BAMT uses?

If anyone is interested in seeing if they can get it working without CGMiner, im using Sapphire 5850 extreme 1GB.  Set to 900/300, and BAMT always tells me that there is something wrong with the card.

I have tried to look for a WIKI or documentation on BAMT but I can find nothing on the net and the HELP file can only get me so far.  I can get it to run, but not run correctly or at 100%.  I would say its running at 70% of its optimal speed.

Any help???
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Rig Ready, but Need Software Help on: March 08, 2012, 03:48:54 AM
Evening everyone,

Well, I got one of the three rigs ready to go, but im stuck at the software part.

I have been advised to use BAMT, since these will be stand-alone rigs, but I am 100% ignorant when it comes to Linux.

As it stands now, I have a naked 4gb flash drive ready to go, but I need a guide or step-by-step to go further.

Basically, I need steps for Linux install, BAMT install, and how to "remote" monitor from a windows 7 based computer.

Any help or direction would be grateful and rewarded.

Thank in advance.

17  Other / Beginners & Help / Advice for a start for a Mining Farm on: February 09, 2012, 05:42:31 AM
Evening everyone,

I wanted to get some input on the first of a mining farm and see if there is any suggestions that you all could give me.  I have dug through and tried to find the best hardware for my money limitations.

Case:  $50  (custom frame case from forum posting)
Motherboard:  $167 (MSI 890FXA-GD70 AM3+)
CPU:  $40 (AMD Sempron 145 Sargas 2.8GHz Socket AM3)
Ram:  $24 (Crucial 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) Dual Channel Kit)
Drive:  $15 (Verbatim 8GB STORE N GO FLASH DRIVE USB 2.0 NANO)
PSU:  $270 (XFX ProSeries P1-1250-BEFX 1250W ATX12V V2.2 & ESP12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular)

Extras:  $12 x 4 (PCIe x16 Extender Cable)
            $20 (Box Fan)

Total base cost: $634 (prices pulled from newegg, cablesaurus, and walmart as of this posting)

I think that is about everything.  Of course the only thing missing is what video card I can use.

Well so far, I have been using 2 x 5850s in my current setup.  Im getting 350 each and on ebay they are selling around $150 each.
So with 4 video cards, it would cost me $1234 and give me about 1.4Ghash/s

So of my reasons behind my choice in hardware is:

Motherboard cause it supports 5 PCI-e slots, CPU and Ram is the cheapest I can find, Drive I plan on using Unix so 8 GB USB drive should be plenty.  The PSU has 8 6+2 pins and 1250W, so should have enough overhead to support 4 cards and computer for 24/7 mining.  Also I am trying to keep the power under 1400 for each system since I don't have the proper setup to have multiple rigs in the same room.

So you have any suggestions for tweaking this setup?  Thanks in advance.

18  Other / Beginners & Help / CGMiner - Stop Auto-Close on: January 24, 2012, 02:35:07 AM
Evening everyone,

I have just started to use CGMiner and after some trial and error I got it working.

I have noticed that when the program quits, it auto closes the window.  Is there a command to keep the window open to look at everything?  Or should I just the logging feature?

Thanks in advance.

19  Other / Beginners & Help / Where to find info on how to tweak a video card? on: January 08, 2012, 06:43:23 AM
Pardon the newbie question, but a quick search didn't give me any good results.

My current start up system, has a Nvidia 550 TI and a newly added Sapphire 5850.

I know its a miss-mash of cards but I was a Nvidia fan before I started into the BitCoin project.  Now slowly going to ATI.

What I am interested in is where do I get the software to control the video card and tweak the settings that I see everyone posting about.

Currently the 5850 is getting around 270-285 Mhash/s using the -v -w128 flags, but that is stock card/settings using the most current drivers.

Thanks in advance.

20  Other / Beginners & Help / Max Pull Per Breaker? on: January 04, 2012, 03:51:27 PM
I have been looking at various multi-rig set ups and i wonder how they can have all those system in one room and not trip breakers?

I understand that a standard house and breaker can support about a 1440 watt pull.  With most of these systems using a 1200W psu, I understand that the computer will not pull 1200w 24/7, but with setups that have 2-3 setups have to be exceeding what one breaker can support.

I have a very basic knowledge of this, so I must be missing something.

Doing a little research I found out that the 5850 will pull around 305w under load at the outlet.  AMD's website states that the card requires two 75w 6 pin pci-e, which would pull 150w max, plus the port its self.  So something of my research is flawed.

Any insight would be helpful.  Thanks.
