301  Economy / Service Discussion / Escrow list on: September 11, 2012, 11:07:46 AM
This is now updated, I will try and keep this list as accurate as I can, This list is sticky-linked from another thread and I would hate something to happen due to misinformation. Not very pretty but functional and in alphabetical order due to the thumbs up approach did not work.

Please keep me informed of any big things happening in case I miss a beat.

List out of date, please use this list until I can re-write.

Thank you.

307  Economy / Scam Accusations / squall1066 V Snapman, got scammer tag on: September 02, 2012, 08:20:32 AM
This was a whim of a loan, My fault so I accept the loss, However I do feel like snapman is not a person to be trusted, Please read this thread. I would like a scammer tag on this person until I receive my funds.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=92076.0

I have given multiple chances to pay something back, and only when threatned to post here he sent 1.7BTC, I guess to buy time.
Now were here, no stopping me now.

As I say this was a whim, So I only have info that was not public to start with , but he has added them to his profile over time, So I got nothing on the fella.

also snapman under bitcointrading.com

He said he sold his Wii, and after contacting the buyer, he said (VIP) he wants snapman to send first over a week ago and he declined.
so snapman Is obviously not telling the full truth to anything.

I understamd that this is a bold step to make, I know i should have got more info, But here we are, Snapman, If you have something to say, say it here in court.

hiya, sorry for the intrusion, But I need to know if you have had dealings with snapman here?

I need to know because in this thread

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=92076.msg1014628#msg1014628

I loaned to him ages ago and haveing real trouble getting it back, He claims that you are buying his Wii (he sends first) then when your done I will get a payment.

Again sorry to ask but I just need to know if this is true as I have been "miss-led" by him before.

regards

Well the truth is I was looking for a wii, and I did offer to buy it from him if he would agree to send first, considering my rep on here is much better than his and I have tens of thousands of dollars in verified positive transactions that he would have to send to me first.

People should realize that ebay feedback means nothing here as this is not ebay.

Well he refused to do that and a week or more went by and now he is saying he changes his mind and will send first

only problem is I just went to gamestop and bought a used wii and modded it myself, he should of agreed to it first, he could of already had the coins by now

Ask him what other things he has for sale, maybe I might be interested in something else of his. I could send you the coins directly when it arrives.

let me know
thanks

What a crock, i never said no. We did go back and forth about who sends first, and i folded to his otc & forum ratings as he mentioned ebay meant nothing on the forums.

from snapman, on the above listing.

Added: A majority of the repayment will come from selling this bad boy - http://ethug.org/pi.jpg

Does he mean this that was sold that I never got anything back from?

Edit - 09/10/12 14:52

Had I.P. confirmed of 50.31.135.24

Edit - Please can mod advise where I stand? can he be tagged? Is their enough here? you say up to two weeks of discussion in difficult cases, But i'm chatting to myself here, Sort of feel like i'm pissing in the wind. Either way I would be grateful if I know something.
308  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / guiminer stops when watching vid's on: August 29, 2012, 12:20:50 PM
hiya, I run win 7 64bit, as my miner/gamer (hence win7) I use guiminer on a 5870, with the 12-3 driver pack, I have some of my dvd's backed up as .avi files, which is easyer for me, But when I play (on MPC build-1.6.2.4485) Either two things happen, 1) vedeo stops, exits and re-opens to play the rest (also louder volume?) but in guiminer says connection problems, Just a simple stop/start gets it going again, Or 2) guiminer uses GPU at full speed but only gets 140mhs (about half I guess) and wont use fully untill a system re-start.

I have used other media players to get simular results, I do use -v -w128 -f 100, changing them has no effect (other than the hash rate changing slightly)

Just a bit stumped, I stop it to play games and all is good when I start it mining again.

Ideas?
309  Bitcoin / Project Development / Love this site? Hate adverts? Read this on: August 29, 2012, 11:43:21 AM
Hello to you all, thanks for looking in, Here are my thoughts quick and simply, I have been on this site for a short time in relation to most, But I love it here and wish to help as much as I can, I hate adverts, I dont have a T.V. I rarely listen to radio, So much of our lives are wasted watching/listening to what we should/shouldn't buy/do with our lives.

So basicly here is my plan, I am going to aquire a few Advert slots here on this forum, and create a donation pool to keep this site alive and kicking, and filter out unnessacery adverts, I am putting in myself to get it rolling, If you would like to help, please donate To the address in my sig.

Now for the trolls Curious I will try and pre-empt some questions.

Q) your doing this to make some!

A) Well not a question really, but I hope to build a little fund to help this site, The "buying advertisment slots" started here to help generate some revinue, I am just helping that process.

Q) Are we going to see just your banners and stop other people from trying to generate some bussiness?

A) NO, I undersatand the reason for advertising, But the diversity of whats being offered is rather low, I will not aquire all slots!

Q) your going to make from this?

A) again, NO, I am quite happy if you want transparency, If someone does make a large donation, It will simply be used over the comming months to aquire some slots, I will be donating myself.

Please note that you can donate directly to this site, I encourage this, Especially if you feel ill about this effort, I am just running this because I hate adverts, If I cant beat them, I will join them.
310  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / theory on network hashrate on: August 26, 2012, 10:24:27 AM
And now for another Tin foil Hat production.

Looking at the network difficulty over the past few changes, Then looking at the network hash rate, It does look like someone minipulating the difficulty, Let me explain.

The last difficulty was set to go down, then in the last few days the network avrage went from 16TH to 22TH, untill difficulty went from 2.1m to 2.4m, since then network has been steady at 15TH with expected difficulty to go down to 2.2m then guess what, Now were sitting at 23TH, coincidence? who would gain from harder difficulty?

My theory, BFL, Basicly, If they have 50TH to ship, (unlikely but this is the speculation thread) then for the remainder of that block they will all make big money, So by makeing sure it gets harder, People will want more BFL equipment to get more hashing power to keep up with this change, BFL make more money, everyone is happy.

Intrested in your thoughts, If you think everyone is just turning on GPU's and FPGA's, Hog wash, 7TH all at the same time! Twice! sorry not in my head. also, It is perfect timing for BFL to start testing eqipment.
311  Other / Off-topic / Online wallet on: August 25, 2012, 04:28:25 PM
Basicly, What's the point of an online wallet?

The only thing I can think of is that it's accessable everywhere, But so is a mobile phone with the right software.

My point is, If it's online it's not really yours is it? How much easyer is it to hack a website, Than a encrypted, backed-up, behind tor, your own personal wallet?

Can you back up your online wallet?

Would like some perspective on this

hiya, I have a rig with 2x 5970 in, now, best show my pic first.

as you can see (sorry about quality, taken my about 30 pics to get this one! lol) I run 300/825 on stock volts.
Temp is good, So do I really need to change them? I only ask because I see loads of threads taking about volt mods and it can save a cards life, can someone give a basic explination of why higher/lower, What situation it can be applied, and If its better I do or not? This is being run 24/7 prob till end of year, What do you think people?

EDIT - also on vista with sdk2.4

315  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / About generation of a bitcoin address on: August 14, 2012, 06:28:41 AM
Just wondered how so many people have their username as part of their bitcoin address?

Do these people just sit there for days generating them till it comes up or am I missing a trick?

317  Other / Off-topic / my story, Thoughts on BFL on: July 14, 2012, 04:26:01 PM
Hiya all,

I have been around bitcoins for a short time now, Wanted to start somewhere so I quickly came to the assumption that mining for my own coins is the only way. I very quickly learned that for a trust based community currency, There isn't any trust, As there are many scammers around I really did fear being trolled and flamed for asking for a loan, But thats another story.

Not being rich, or even haveing a clue what to do now, I jumped in the deep end and downloaded guiminer, and then lerned what I had to get it working (reverse engineering) Now I run a small rig @ 1.2GHs.

Now ASICS are being released, I dont even know what FPGA is? Everyone seams to be either rich enough to throw money on a good idea, Or smart enough to get fantastic results on new hardware.

My question is where do I go from here, I have looked at BFL and things like enterpoint, and you know what is really important for someone lower down the chain like me, Ease of use! I'm not saying i'm inflexable and unwilling to learn, but I have a job thats demanding, and I really love this currency idea and want to stay in the race, and to do that I have to step up to the mark when the difficulty and network hash speed goes through the roof.

As I say from my perspective BFL are plug and play, O.K. some tweeking, whatever, I can handle, I dont care that I wont get it this year, I dont care that it might not be "on spec" website says, price = hashing power! no sweat.

When I start looking at FPGA's I get a load of geeky spec that looks like someone mashed up a keyboard in the discription box, Not evena box that says "if i get x and put with y and load software z you will get around "said" speed.

I really need your thoughts.........

squall1066
P.S. mod, No idea where to put this, so I guess its speculation on my economic situation.
318  Economy / Computer hardware / SOLD! [WTS WTT] asus 5970 and non ref 5870 SOLD!!! on: June 17, 2012, 08:18:26 AM
hiya, thinking of getting rid of my 5970. (reference fan) This is in my main gameing computer and is used for mining overnight, use MSI AB for memory under-clock for heat reasons, I just don't use this much power in my games, I would rather a 5870 to game on, and a 5870 to mine on separately. comes boxed.

Happy to use escrow for both our sakes.

I can take a pic if you need but will be in situ as i'm using it now!

I'm in the UK, (I wish everyone would say where they were as not everyone lives in the lower 48)

Entertaining offers

EDIT, I also have a non ref xfx 5870 boxed to sell, pics to follow.......

edit, now sold privetly , thanks for looking.

320  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / 5970 guiminer help needed please, if anyone still intrested on: April 18, 2012, 10:18:13 AM
hi all, had loads of problems as i am still learning, i need help with the final stage, i have win xp 32bit, guiminer-20120219, open cl loaded and checked with gpu-z, it has 5870 and 5970 in one system, as far as i can tell, all is installed, 58xx mining no problems, when i start one core of the 59xx thats fine but when i start the other, i get 17mhs, and this works the other way around too, so just to recap, whatever core i start first runs ok, its the second started core that goes slow.

also fyi i have tried same worker/different worker, same pool/different pool combo's with no effect.
