1  Economy / Service Discussion / What the hell is going on with C-Cex??? on: July 17, 2017, 10:11:51 PM
First thing I get in my email this morning is that my C-Cex password has been changed. I've never used C-Cex before so who cares. I went to see if maybe I signed up way back in the day so I reset my password again. The brand new password won't work. I tried resetting it again. It doesn't work. I try to open a ticket and it says the captcha is wrong. I try to do anything and the website is down for "5-7 minutes of maintenance" (which so far has lasted 10hours.).

What the hell am I supposed to do now? I just want them to close my (non existent) account so they don't get screwed over from some hacker. I have nothing to lose there so I really don't care. I'd just rather not get these emails every single time their crappy exchange gets hacked. It seems to be every 3-6 months I get another email.

I have a secure system and I'm not getting hacked so I know C-Cex is getting hacked. My password was very long and random and never reused. I'd appreciate if anyone knows how I can get my account closed without opening a ticket since even that doesn't work on their site lol.
2  Economy / Speculation / This is total BS. Never a good time to sell! on: May 19, 2017, 04:36:35 PM
Any time I go to sell my bitcoins the price goes up another 10 or 20 or 40%. So I never sell. Then they go up another 20%-40% and I still never sell. This is ridiculous! How am I supposed to sell a currency that's constantly going up in price? I've become the cheapest person in the world now thanks to bitcoins. I don't know how much more of this price increasing I can take. Bitcoins just don't work at all like fiat does. Not even close.../s
3  Other / Meta / Anyone else unable to edit their posts today? on: April 14, 2017, 12:38:16 PM
I went to edit my post and I don't have the option anymore. I thought I'd go into my recent posts and maybe I could edit there and there's no option there either. I'm posting this to confirm I'm logged in properly but obviously I can see that I am.. Just me or is everyone having this problem today?

Edit: Now I can edit this post. Maybe the subforum I was in doesn't allow edits? That's probably it.

Edit again. I actually can't edit anything from before this post. What's going on? I think it's a good idea for old posts but not for ones I just made.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / I need a better cheap solution to a paper wallet on: November 17, 2016, 06:07:56 PM
How would I make my own hardware wallet sort of thing without shelling out $100? Is there any way to use an old piece of tech to somehow have cold storage and send transactions without it ever becoming a hot wallet?

If there is such a way to do this, is there a dumbed down guide that the technically inept like myself can read through step by step to set it up?

So basically I want a paper wallet that's always secure because the private key is never online but I want to be able to spend it easier than with a paper wallet. They're really a pain in the ass.
5  Economy / Service Discussion / Has anyone used shop2bitcoin? It's 'cash back' for shopping, paid in BTC on: October 04, 2016, 11:47:05 PM
I just stumbled across this site when I was trying to find places that accept bitcoins in Canada (which honestly is still hard to find). There doesn't seem to be any active options though. Everything says unavailable.

https://shop2bitcoin.netrbx.com/

Has anyone used this website? It seems like a good idea but I don't think it's up and running.
6  Economy / Reputation / Zoomer: Bought account on: September 17, 2016, 10:06:53 PM
I just finished up my post after thinking about doing an exchange with Zoomer. After my due diligence I decided that I don't want to trade with him why? Well because it's a sold account that was farmed and now he spams the crap out of our forum.

Zoomer's profile: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=30194

Check out my proof below:

USE ESCROW. DON'T FALL FOR THIS TRUST FARMING.‎

Proof:

After looking through:‎

https://www.bctalkaccountpricer.info/?token=kkf74s17

It shows an address from 2011 that the person who owned the account Zoomer posted.

Can you sign a message from:

I started on the multipool the day before it went down, so this is awesome. Probably have about a thousand pending shares. Wonder what 14CFNKinKKZ9fjaEbrGJ4PqBSZ28trx9FN has?

Oh wait no you can't because of this thread where Zoomer is up for sale (in 2015):

Don't worry. It's archived.

Excuse the poor BB code. It's a locked thread so it's harder to quote.

How much are you looking for the account ? It most likely will have 98 of activity by posting another 27 posts right ? Please let me know the price you'r looking for I won't take it @0.05 FYM. Thanks.

Reading through the whole thread shows that the account Zoomer was up for sale.

I don't trust bought accounts. This is just trust farming otherwise you would be doing this from your main account.

Signing a message from August 25th Just proves you've owned the account since... August 25th 2016. We already knew you bought the account in 2015 (or you bought it off the 2nd/3rd/4th owner after they farmed the account. So no point in signing an older address (although I'm sure you can't anyways) because it just means the private key was sold with the account.

Proof of farming (notice 1 post per activity period in many cases):

7  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Is there a wallet where we can have predetermined change addresses? on: September 01, 2016, 11:31:29 PM
So for example I make 20 vanity addresses and they all start with 1bitcoin1, 1bitcoin2, 1bitcoin3. Can you add these into an HD wallet somehow? Or are we able to make the first key so that only vanity addresses are used in the HD wallet?

Does that even make sense?
8  Other / Meta / I just Googled Bitcoin and bitcointalk.org was on page 6! on: August 29, 2016, 09:19:33 PM
6! This has got to be one of the biggest sites and definitely the biggest English speaking forum (I can't speak about other languages). How can we increase this? No wonder I didn't hear about this forum for months when I was a bitcoin newbie!
9  Economy / Digital goods / Have a useless negative trust Sr. Member account? I need one to test signatures on: August 14, 2016, 07:46:57 PM
I'm looking for a Sr. Member Account to test bbcode on signatures (as I don't want to change mine and mess up my signature campaign payment). If you have a Sr. Member with red trust or it's useless for some other reason I would like it. I'm not willing to pay anything if it's an account that you used to scam but I'll make a donation if it's an account you acquired legitimately (aka: You give out loans and this is an account you got stuck with. I really don't consider anything else legitimate at the moment but if you can explain it I'll give a small donation.)

I don't want to encourage account sales here and I definitely don't want to encourage scammers to be able to sell their accounts. The donation will be something like 1mBTC because essentially the account is worthless to anyone, but to me it has has small value for testing purposes.

If someone has an issue with this and thinks I'm just looking to purchase accounts, I don't so I'll just delete the thread (in other words please don't neg me lol! I'm going to stay very transparent with this account transfer if anyone is willing to give me one).

Thanks!
10  Economy / Exchanges / (Email received) An important message to Canadian Coinbase customers  on: July 07, 2016, 05:57:37 PM
I just go this email from Coinbase.com. I don't even use them but I guess I was signed up for emails from when I was a newbie. Have a read if you're Canadian and use Coinbase.com.

Dear valued Coinbase customer,

As of August 1, Coinbase’s Canadian payments provider, Vogogo, will be shutting down its payment processing business. When this occurs, Coinbase will no longer be able to support Canadian EFT transfers, Interac transfers, or the storage of customer CAD on Coinbase.

All customer CAD stored with Coinbase MUST be withdrawn off site or converted to digital currency by July 29th.

If you hold CAD in your Coinbase account, you must liquidate your CAD holdings before July 29th by either:

creating a withdrawal to your linked bank account or
exchanging stored CAD for digital currency.
If you are unable to withdraw or exchange your CAD before July 29th, Coinbase will suspend your account and significant fees will be incurred for CAD withdrawals.
We are disappointed to lose the ability to offer these payment methods for our Canadian customers and hope to provide additional payment methods in the future. We appreciate your support during this change.

If you have any questions regarding this or would like to contact us, please visit our Support Center.
11  Economy / Speculation / Wow! Look at that volume! on: June 18, 2016, 09:41:32 PM
Wow. The price going up is great but the volume is even better. We've got new people using bitcoin, more people buying bitcoin and lots more volume! Can't complain about that! Bitcoins are getting in more people's hands so this is great news for everyone.

12  Economy / Speculation / Holy crap on a cracker! Another spike ($533USD) ! To the mooooon! on: May 28, 2016, 09:30:00 PM
Guys! Buy up! The panic buying for the halving has begun!

Just look at that awesome upward swing!

We're in the money! We're in the moneyyyy!
13  Other / Meta / (Sounds like) Ban Evasion to me... What do you think? on: May 08, 2016, 05:48:37 PM
Here's the quote from a quite appropriately named 'sockpuppet1' account posting on behalf of TPTB_need_war. It look like ban evasion to me. Am I right?

Please re-read my upthread post as I added so much to it. I am writing on behalf of TPTB_need_war who is quoted in the opening post and who is currently banned for 9 more days.

I will delete this post. Please quote my upthread post, so readers won't forget to read it.
14  Economy / Reputation / DeathProxyX - Bought (negative trust) account on: April 25, 2016, 01:13:35 PM
I'm trying to follow the logic on this one...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=527420

I don't know if red trust was resolved, because i bought this account from previous user with the hope to gain some green trust by my work. I hope you could trust me. tell me more about you trading experience and your expectation ( in terms of profit, day, kind of asset) , i'll make an investment proposal for you!

He's now trying to buy:

And

I believe this is Justin00's account

Because of this:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1431384.msg14480007#msg14480007
He is trying to sell his account... while on his own account. I guess he missed the memo that that was a stupid thing to do when trying to sell an account durp.
15  Other / Beginners & Help / How to make a Paper wallet? on: November 23, 2015, 12:18:29 AM

Edit: Thanks for the great answers guys. I'm going to create a few now and see how it goes. Let's have a look and see I guess!
16  Other / Meta / How can I earn trust on Bitcointalk? on: November 14, 2015, 07:55:42 PM
What with me being new to this forum no one has any reason to trust me. Which obviously I don't blame them at all! I'm never going to need a loan (I don't like paying interest) so how else could I earn trust?

Seems like an obvious answer "do something trustworthy" but I'd really like someone to explain it in a little more detail.

Also can Newbie's give positive or negative trust on someone's account? It seem like you shouldn't be able to make an account one day and give someone + or - trust the next.

If there's already a sticky about this could you lead me to it? Thanks in advance!

EDIT: HERE'S A GREAT POST BY THEYMOS TO UNDERSTAND "TRUST" MORE
