I received an email last night from Intrade. Intrade is a prediction market. Participants buy and sell contracts that attempt to predict future events such as wars, elections, and other major events. The email stated that all US users must cash out their accounts and that no new US accounts can be created. They sighted regulatory pressure as their reason. It was fun while it lasted. If you read the news carefully you can make money at it. Anyone else bummed out? http://www.intrade.com/v4/home/EDIT: Wait, it ain't over yet. Read my next post in this thread.

BBC now reporting he has changed his looks and gone into hiding to conduct his own investigation. I lived in Belize and on the islands there are few secrets. Crimes are generally solved because there a so few suspects. When I lived on caye caulker there was a sign at the main dock that said something like "There are no police here. So behave yourself!" "Fugitive McAfee blogs on the run from Belize police" http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-20395207

It seems like every year I hear more about the terrible plight we all face. People talk about rising taxes, and how the US is broken. I hear a lot about social injustice and how warlike we have become. What I find curious about all this are the facts that contradict these ideas. In reality these are the safest times in all of human history. Never before could you expect to live a long life free of war and with health care better than any king of 100 years ago. You have rights almost unheard of in history. Today I could decide to live as a woman and everyone would pretend along with me. And you would not learn this by talking to voters, but US taxes have been going down for thirty years and are at historic lows. It's a pity that we don't recognize our good fortune. I'm as guilty as anyone of pointing out the problems we have, or the far less certain future. The truth is we are luckier than any other generation that has come before.
That's my happy thought for the day.

I do not have the Kung-Fu skilz to do this, but a motivated programmer might be able to develop a Forex trading system using BTC. An app that uses such a system could be a strong competitor in the ChallengePost contest found via the link below. http://forexfreestyle.challengepost.com/What do you think? Possible?

I am training this weekend with the medical reserve corps i'm part of. There is a big push right now to bring training in personal preparedness to a general audience. I'm going to be developing and presenting some of these workshops and establishing resource lists. One untapped well of resources are the prepers that now are a thing. Unlike the "survivalists" of a couple of decades ago, these people tend to be a bit more realistic and useful. So are you a preper? If so (or not) what sort of free training would you attend? Here is what i'm doing today. Giving sutures to a poor piggy.

So I posted the question "does anyone else here use bitcoin?" Within seconds an admin deleted my post and deducted 5 points from my "score". I was told that this was against the TOS, and tha they do not allow sales at the forum. I P.M.ed him back explaing that I am not selling anything, I just wondered if others use it. Please investigate and you will see. He took it to some kind of panel for review. Here is their response. A decision has been made, unanimous vote, "It has no place in Political Chat and on Bersa Chat as a whole." So no more posting of bidcoin on Bersa Chat will be allowed.
Again I removed all points, (just a PM warning) and ran this through the board for a reading.
RC What B.S. they obviously did not look into it, they even spelled it wrong. I will be ending my account there.

I keep reading contradicting reports as to the legal sale of tritium. I want a tiny amount to make glow in the dark sights for my AR-15. I don't want to break the law or anything. Does any one have a tritium keychain or something?

I used to care, back when I thought it meant something, and I have always had a fairly high score. In recent years I have been extricating myself from the credit economy. Since then I have more money than ever. So when I was looking at large real estate tracts for sale I became curious about my score. When i checked I was delighted to see that I no longer have a score. Because I don't use bank credit I am simply rated un-scoreable. I could not be happier. I don't want a number from the same industry that puts out LIBOR scores and other works of fiction. What about you? Do you value your credit scores?

It seems like there is a correlation between how many visitors per day this site receives and the BTC price. Is that true or just me? Or is the increase coming after a spike in price? I would like to plot it all out, but I'm not sure where the data are. Is there any way to view how many visits/users were here on past days? It's up today, and so is the price.

Since a few threads lately have gotten off track talking about drug policy i thought I would start a thread for discussing just this topic. So, are we winning, is it worth fighting, is it even moral to have such a war?

The more I learn about the crowdfunding bill the more I think many of you would be into it. Among the funding portals that are popping up, I like GrowVC. There you can see the ideas people are pitching for startups or you can connect with funders who want to help you make your business ideas come true, for a profit of course. I have posted an article about bitcoin in the talks section, if you set up an account feel free to add to the discussion. There are a lot of economy geeks there and some very smart experts on the topic of entrepreneurship. Personally I'm looking at opportunities in Africa in the mobile phone market. I am also looking for small startups near my home, something I could visit and get to know. I plan on making my next successful investment via this system, check it out and we will bum rush them with BTC ethics. www.growvc.com

This is a question for retailers and service providers within the bitcoin economy. Now that $3 has been relatively stable for a while now, are peers spending some of their coin or is holding for speculation still as strong as ever?
