Other / Off-topic / Fucked up with my Steemit account, could the password still be retrievable?

Hey guys, I'm willing to offer some payment for this if necessary and I thought this would be a place to ask for help. There was a bit of an emergency today and one of my hard drives decided to start failing, so I did what you do usually, backup your stuff and then install Windows 7 on another drive after formatting. Unfortunately I was extremely stupid and did not check to write down the password of my Steemit account however it was saved on the password manager. Now I can't access the password on the manager despite it restoring when I do a fresh install of chrome but I can in fact log in for some reason through the automated login but it doesn't auto-fill the password because it isn't in the manager so my theory is that the password I need is still in logindata database of the browser. Since I can't access it in text form myself, I suspect the only option would be to turn to a security expert and see if they can decrypt it for me, I'm willing to fork over some Bitcoin for this I can offer 0.02btc or so immediately and a bit more if I can get access to the account. I tried fiddling with this crap myself but it is just beyond me and I figured it would be much easier asking you guys for help. By the way, I've been looking around at slightly more complicated methods which involve Python and these seem to be exactly the sort of method I need to get at the password properly. https://geekswipe.net/technology/computing/swoop-chrome-passwords-decrypt-with-python/

Other / Politics & Society / Theresa May says Article 50 will NOT be triggered this year

http://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/698176/Theresa-May-Article-fifty-Brexit-not-triggered-this-year-referendumSon of a bitch, I was willing to gve Theresa May a chance because I don't like to jump to conclusions based on first impressions or political allegiances if I can help it but that really pissed me off. This is one of the first times in politics I have been very active and it seems the remain side is doing everything it can to undermine the democratic vote. If this idiotic woman gets her way she will end up dragging down the UK and it will actually be affected by the Brexit because it will be in a limbo between the EU and the rest of the world. For those outside, this means, we don't get article 50 initiated this year, so that means it will take longer to leave the EU and this means it will be more difficult to get trade deals conducted outside the EU with other countries and the EU can screw us even more because we are still technically a member state. Gahhhh what a bitch, Labour was bad enough, but now we've go the Conservatives to contend with, thank fuck Labour are too busy fighting amongst themselves otherwise they might have actually supported her. Incidentally, there's a petition to initiate article 50 that's cropped up on the government website, I signed it myself. https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/133618

Other / Politics & Society / The 2nd referendum “petition” is wide open to fraud
|

https://off-guardian.org/2016/06/25/the-2nd-referendum-petition-is-wide-open-to-fraud/ The UK Parliament online petition for a second referendum, currently containing upwards of a million alleged signatures is open to almost unlimited fraud, and likely worthless.
Although we might assume such a potentially significant petition would be subject to at least basic checks on identity to prevent fake identities and duplication, one of our own frequent researchers can confirm this is not true, and he has sent us the screen caps to prove it. Been doing some digging on this petition I saw go up, thankfully it seems to be a case of fraud on the part of the remain side loyalists, will have to wait and see as more reporting is done though, news organisations like the BBC are taking it and running with it.

Economy / Economics / What affect do you think will the block halving have on mining profit?
|
on: June 19, 2016, 02:03:57 PM

http://www.bitcoinblockhalf.com/So I was interested in hearing peoples' perspectives on what they think will happen on block halving day ( I'm actually excited about it -_- ) my own personal theory is that the price of Bitcoin itself and the fees from the trading volume rising so much will actually balance everything out and miners will either make the same as they did before or perhaps more because trade volume isn't limited in the way that block rewards are. What do you think will happen? Do you think I'm right? Do you think maybe we'll see a severe drop short term? Give me your reasoning, it's just interesting seeing the panic around block halving because we've seen all the hysteria surrounding ASICs and Scrypt mining and so on which makes me wonder if people aren't overreacting to the whole thing.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / I bought games from steam thread

So I agree there has been an awful lot of spam regarding Valve's recent Bitcoin implementation on Steam, so how about we keep all news items and posts about it located in one thread?
Just this week by the way, I successfully bought The Culling from Steam with no problems, the only thing I've found is that the bitpay links don't work because of the platform's browser.

Other / Off-topic / Is there a way to change the power levels of a broadband connection yourself?
|
on: April 30, 2016, 10:54:08 AM

So thanks to some ( Polite ) rage posting on the Virgin Media forums I've finally managed to kick one of the support staff into responding and they're saying that it's something to do with the power levels or dBmV which you see in the router status. It's a long shot, but doesn't anyone here know anything about this and whether I could in fact change them myself? Because the support staff are utterly useless I don't want to have to rely on booking an engineer every time something goes wrong if it's a simple matter of changing some values or configuring something in a slightly different way.
