102  Other / Off-topic / Dark Web is overrated, but I'm sure people on Bitcointalk already knew on: August 07, 2014, 08:46:31 AM
So for the first time I decided to have a proper poke around the Dark Web/Deep Web ( No I wasn't doing anything illegal before you get all jumpy and paranoid on me, I just got curious Tongue ) and boy was my Anarchist side disappointed! Sad "What?" you probably all are going when you read that but the typical media networks as usual have blown everything out of proportion trying to pretend that the Dark Net is some kind of real life crime net from Payday. Unless I'm missing more websites out there which I could well be, it's like going back to the faster dialup speeds you could get back when the year 2000 was coming along, I did spot some Anarchist groups which was pretty cool, some Anarcho-Syndicalists and Anarcho-Communists but the network is clearly way smaller than the clearnet, again, unless there are way more websites out there that I know of.

Yes, there are some bad guys out there, paedophile links which I stayed the hell away from, weapons markets, drugs markets but it basically seemed to be a bunch of people building up a network from scratch rather than anything properly established. I did notice that there were clearly discussions and plans going on about a new wireless internet that was in the works which looked interesting but that was about it.

Fucking media warping everyone's view of stuff yet again, they're doing a damn good job.
103  Economy / Service Discussion / Who's used Bitwasp? on: August 06, 2014, 10:41:41 AM
So I really wanted to create some kind of fairly permanent backup marketplace because Bitcoin payment processors are having so many problems with different countries and so on it's ridiculous and I started rage searching after getting very frustrated and finally found Bitwasp.

https://bitwasp.co/

Based off the old Silkroad code it seems perfect for what I want to do but has anyone here actually used it? The interface looks very simple and that's great but I want to know how well it will cope with digital downloads and so on, as someone building everything from scratch I'm already sick of the idea of my existence being reliant on third parties.

Say if I wanted to host the SCI on my website and sell a .pdf file would that be possible?
104  Other / Off-topic / Complete Assimp tutorials? on: July 23, 2014, 07:18:36 AM
I figured since there are so many programmers here someone might be able to tell me about this, I've been searching for awhile but I'm looking for tutorials regarding Assimp which is an OpenGL mesh loader people on the internet seem to vouch for and it looks exactly what I need if I want to get into 3D Programming and import my own models and animations.

However, as seems to be the case with 3D programming in particular ( 2D tutorials/resources are great for some reason ) any tutorials I find are grossly out of date or they're incomplete I'd really appreciate it if you guys could point me in the right direction towards finding some good tutorials you can recommend me or maybe an alternative option? Again, with the alternatives like coding my own file importer which would be incredibly difficult there's that problem of the tutorials being very outdated.

http://assimp.sourceforge.net/ - Just so you know what I'm talking about.
105  Other / Off-topic / Have multiplayer games turned into shit fests lately for you guys? on: July 15, 2014, 02:16:35 PM
It does depend on the game, but lately I've noticed because the summer holidays are starting or have already started for some people and holy shit have online games gotten ridiculous. I've been playing stuff like Trouble in terrorist town and Battlefield and the stupidity I've seen is amazing.

In BF3 you have 7 - 8 people waiting for the attack helicopter or choppers meaning that you end up losing the round no matter what because you're so badly outnumbered, in BF4 you have half a team ( Not exaggerating ) in some cases camping rooftops with sniper rifles or otherwise and using spawn beacons to stay up there and because your team is busy stealing all the aircraft so they can rooftop camp elsewhere and not even fight the other team so it's extremely difficult to counter them unless you can scrape together a small squad that isn't filled with brainless morons and go attack them yourself.

It truly sucks what multiplayer gaming is becoming Sad It was bad before but now it's just gotten ridiculous at least awhile ago it was bearable, I tried Minecraft multiplayer as well but ended up getting killed in spawn before I could really even do anything and the servers are always pretty crappy.
106  Economy / Services / Payment processors that are outside U.S jurisdiction? on: July 15, 2014, 08:13:31 AM
So I really need a backup payment processor or a main on depending on how good it is and the reason being is because I'm sick of being panicky about companies in the U.S barely being allowed to exist and I'm worried at any moment they're going to get shut down right when I need them, so I was wondering if anyone knew of any payment processors ( preferably pure cryptocurrencies with altcoins available, I'm asking for this because I predict altcoins will be much easier to trade once the next Bitcoin boom happens ) that are outside the U.S and actively stay away so their customers don't have to put up with a ton of bullshit from that country.

If you could help me find a payment processor I'd appreciate it, I'm very VERY close right now to releasing a bunch of products and I want to make sure everything works:

. Ubercart supported

. Multiple crpytocurrencies, not just Bitcoin though I'll settle for just Bitcoin if it's well run

. Outside U.S jurisdiction

. Purely crypto so me and my customers can keep their privacy
107  Economy / Economics / Gold slowly and steadily crawling towards 2008 - 2009 levels? on: July 11, 2014, 12:24:39 PM
So I've been keeping an eye on the gold price for a long while and it's slowly but surely crawling up towards the same kind of $2000 price we saw back when the crash happened in 2008 - 2009. Has anyone else been noticing this? I've also seen all the stocks and bonds rising with it which makes me believe that the central banks are at it again trying to pump things up but this time they seem to be running out of time because gold just isn't going along with this anymore like it usually does.

I think we may see another massive crash as I've been saying either this year or next year depending on whether the gold price can go past $2000 again.

109  Other / Politics & Society / Japan bans child pornography possession on: June 21, 2014, 01:50:08 PM
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-27898841

Yes, you read that right, they actually took a fairly reasoned and rational approach to this and made sure it was only real child pornographic images that were banned which made the response by opponents a bit baffling to me but I can understand the concern. Now this is a pretty touchy subject particularly among the ever irrational "PROTECT THE CHILDREN" crowd but one thing I've noticed and I promise you I actually looked through this. Almost every major news outlet ( except ABC ) has disabled the comments on this kind of news and they act in their articles outraged at and they do that wonderful thing of trying to paint all manga/anime artists as potential paedophiles blah blah blah ( thankfully the BBC managed to show restraint in their writing about this but of course decided to weigh in with someone who obviously thought that way ) I know I'm probably going to regret this given that there are religious people are trolling around the board but do you guys think it's fair the way people just randomly throw virtual images in with anything else real 'just in case'?

I'm of course instantly biased in this argument because I am a freedom of speech extremist but I just can't stand these kind of tactics, it's bad enough people throw around these kind of accusations and lets be honest they always have used the tactics of blocking any comments from people that would disagree with them because they know not everyone thinks the way they do. The best example I could find of why this is an extremely bad idea is pretty old but it displays exactly why I despise this kind of thinking and think it's a dangerous attempt at policing peoples thought processes.

http://www.somebodythinkofthechildren.com/australia-bans-small-breasts/

Yes, this is real, I'll search around for more articles from other news sites to verify the information, I'm a guy who likes large breasts and even I find this pathetic! >_< The issue of course isn't about child pornography I think we can all agree that the real stuff is really bad, what's ridiculous to me is the censorship of a bunch of pixels by making it even more pixelated or jailing somebody for drawing it

p.s. Religious people, please don't try to convince me or lecture me on morality, I don't mind you having a discussion about it here at all Wink but I've already made my mind up and I'll proceed to mock you about how many actual convicted child paedophiles are being caught within the very religious circles that peddle this way of thinking, sorry, I immediately want to get into a fight when it comes to censorship Tongue
110  Other / Off-topic / Game of Thrones dragging on? :( on: June 09, 2014, 03:00:07 AM
Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy Game of Thrones immensely but when it comes to Tyrion Lannister's trial in particular I'm getting particularly annoyed at the way it keeps being dragged on, while they haven't resorted to just having characters sit their and talk about nonsensical things yet like most long running shows do it's beginning to feel like they're running out of ideas and they're desperate to keep things going but everything has a fucking end eventually and I want them to get to the point!

Anyone else getting the same feeling? I hope we're not going to have to wait another two weeks for them to get to the damn point, we're going to have a whole episode of Aria and the hound wondering aimlessly in Bravos next where nothing major in the plot happens just so they can fit in a few extra episodes of air time >_<
111  Economy / Services / Lethn's proof reading and research service on: May 26, 2014, 01:20:10 PM
So I'm trying to find more ways to be productive with my time while my brain is working on things and one thing that should be obvious to everyone who's seen me around long enough I spend a lot of time on the internet and particularly Bitcointalk. In order to monetise this I thought I might try what some other people have done and use my proof reading skills to make some coin since I'm not willing to dirty my signature with campaign signatures and spam the forum in order to keep to their ridiculous requirements because I think even a fifty post minimum is hard to keep to if you want to write something meaningful.

If anyone wants to post or PM me any offers let me know! I'd be happy to take Litecoin payments instead if you don't want to part with Bitcoins because of the price, I'd also like to do this as a way of increasing my reputation so feedback is definitely welcome, I have also decided I will go and research or find something out for you if you don't know where to look.

112  Other / Politics & Society / Just identified myself as an Anarchist to a local MP ( UK ) on: May 19, 2014, 05:51:29 PM
Genuinely the first time I've done that to people outside of my own circle really, he didn't hang around very long after that because he knew he wasn't going to really get my vote lol! Tongue Seemed like a reasonable enough person though because at least he knew what Anarchism actually was but he was clearly on the statist side of the fence. I'm seriously considering when I get my own house next time the elections come round I'm going to plant some Anarchist flags to see what happens next.

Has anybody else been declaring their political affiliation more openly lately with all the bullshit going on? Before believe it or not I was actually fairly reserved about my political beliefs but now I'm actually tempted to buy an Anarchy t-shirt as well or something so people get the fucking point If I ever get to vote on the EU referendum and stop trying to convince me to vote for them.

For Americans, MP is Member of Parliament, we've got local elections going on over here at the moment.
113  Other / Politics & Society / [Ukraine] Ukrainian Autonomous Workers Union on: May 13, 2014, 07:42:46 AM
Are these guys the real Anarchists? I've been doing some digging around on Ukraine wondering where the real Anarchists are, because the media sure love to paint Neo-Nazi's as Anarchists in an effort to claim those who are against organised government are just racist fascists like they've been doing elsewhere and then I noticed that in photos at the protests there's a guy with the Anarchist symbol and the abbreviation "A.C.A.B"

http://revolution-news.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/acab.jpg

https://libcom.org/news/ukrainian-anarchist-statement-governments-new-anti-protest-laws-24012014

The best information I could find on this group is around here that's in English, are these guys Anarcho-communists? Or am I misunderstanding here? They seem to follow the same style as us and don't seem to give a shit about either side, I'll do some more digging and see if I can find out more, if Ukrainians find any more information in their own language and happen to see this I'd like to know about it.

Quote
Anarchists ought to participate in demonstrations and pickets which are dedicated to defense of the rights and freedoms usurped by the laws of January 16th. It makes sense to take action at one’s workplace or neighborhood and to help sabotage the dictatorship’s decisions. There’s not much sense in participating in the activities in Grushevskogo street, which were meaningless from the very beginning. These activities only give the government pretty picture for television and enable it to identify radical elements by locating mobile phones and videotaping.

This statement in particular convinces me.

http://avtonomia.net/2013/12/08/autonomous-workers-union-statements-euromaidan/

Found something else after more digging? Is this their website? Need somebody who understands Ukrainian to confirm, looks like it might be just an Anarchist news site or something on further inspection.

Edit: Just realised after more searching A.C.A.B means "All Cops Are Bastards" oops! Didn't know that Cheesy
114  Other / Politics & Society / Europe rejects UK's financial transaction tax challenge on: April 30, 2014, 09:38:48 PM
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-27218615

Quote
Europe's top court has rejected the UK's challenge to the introduction of an EU financial transactions tax (FTT), which ministers have said will damage British firms.

Quote
The levy, often described as a Tobin tax or "Robin Hood" tax, aims to raise public funds and discourage speculative trading by taxing the transactions of shares, currencies and bonds.

Of the 27 EU member states, the 11 going ahead with the FTT are Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Austria, Portugal, Greece, Slovenia, Slovakia and Estonia.

I wasn't actually aware of this financial transaction tax until just recently, I knew we had capital gains which is a tax specifically designed for this sort of thing anyway, but it looks to me like the EU is essentially trying to enforce a VAT tax on all transactions, they also mentioned currencies, could this include a move against Bitcoin?
115  Other / Off-topic / Would you buy Gold/Silver ingots or coins from me? on: April 25, 2014, 05:21:49 PM
I wanted to ask you guys outright as I noticed there's obviously quite a market for ingots and coins out there when it comes to working with Gold/Silver, I've been seriously considering expanding on my skills and not only looking at Jewellery but the actual refining and casting of precious metals myself so I can maybe get into making money from people who want to purchase Gold/Silver as investment rather than for the Jewellery side of it. Would you buy ingots or coins from me if I made sure they were pure and showed you proof? I've been looking into stuff like using nitric acid to refine silver but it might be awhile before I can actually go ahead and do this as I need to get everything set up, plus I've got other projects going on at the moment obviously too.

These would all be made from scratch and be unique to my brand so there wouldn't be any re-selling going on.

120  Other / Off-topic / Anyone know about making Silver/Gold Coins? on: March 21, 2014, 08:27:16 AM
I've been learning about casting along with my handmade stuff lately and I can easily find everything on how to make silver/gold ingot bars, even the moulds for them but I have no idea about doing small scale coin casting. I found this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hyh9SI5UhnY&feature=player_embedded  but this one is for an industrial process, I need to find something much more small scale, since you guys are obsessed with Silver and Gold I figured I could ask you lot if you knew anything about this Cheesy

If you stumble across anything let me know!

I just found out this and it's a classic case of needing to know the vocabulary - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coining_%28mint%29 - looks likes I need to find out all about how to make coin dies now.

hurray! - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6T_ZutXzNQ

I found a video that shows what I need to do with delft clay casting which is what I've been using too.
