Why do people care who Satoshi Nakamoto is/was? It's like wondering the name of the person that created the wheel. Sure, I suppose I would be curious about the name of the inventor of the wheel, if nothing else to raise a beer to them from time to time, but ultimately the wheel is the important part of the story.

The Yacoin dev team has been congratulated by multiple users for Yacoin YAC being listed on Poloniex.
NOPE, that's YaCCoin YACC, a blatant scam/ripoff of our name.
Poloniex seems to be a reputable place, so they should either de-list YaCCoin YACC immediately, or, at a minimum require them to use a different name on the exchange.

That is actually YaCCoin, a blatant ripoff/scam of Yacoin name.
In other news, I am working on a new coin called Bittcoin, hopefully we can get it listed on Poloniex.

What if Satoshi doesn't actually know they are Satoshi due to a MPD? This would certainly be a great way to remain anonymous. If that is the case, any one of us here could be Satoshi and not even know it

I've been involved with Bitcoin in one way or another since 2011 and it still makes me laugh to see the daily threads and stories about how Bitcoin has already peaked in value and usefulness.
We are less than 6 years in to a technology that has and will forever change the world! 110 years ago or so, people were saying the same thing about another technology that forever changed the world... the horseless carriage.
Bitcoin, like the automobile, has barely yet left the workshop of it's inventor. All of us here are at the ground floor of that experiment.

I've seen a few threads on here introducing "new", "innovative" or otherwise "awesome" coins that all attempt to take credit for inventing scrypt-N, scrypt-jane, adaptive-scrypt, etc...
Actually, Yacoin was the first to introduce scrypt-N to the cryptocoin world in May of 2013. Scrypt-jane was invented by a github user named floodyberry as a flexible implementation of Colin Percival's scrypt.
Using floodyberry's scrypt-jane lib, Yacoin was also the first coin to use SHA-3. In this case, as a hashing function.
In addition, Yacoin was the third proof of stake coin released after Peercoin and Novacoin. Yacoin, at a current N-Factor of 15 is the first to chart such territory and is certainly ASIC proof. Obviously, many of you are here to make a quick "buck" and don't care about such things, and to that end... good luck to you I suppose. Still, I want to set the record straight.
Thanks. This has been a public service announcement from your local friendly neighbourhood Yacoin dev.

I recently read that Jeff Garzik was introduced to Bitcoin by the same Slashdot article that I was. I'm guessing that it was the introduction to Bitcoin for many folks in the tech community, actually. Anyway, figured I'd start a tribute thread to the article, because.... well, why the hell not? So, here it is in all its glory: http://www.slashdot.org/story/11/02/10/189246/online-only-currency-bitcoin-reaches-dollar-parityEdit: See thread below, there was an even earlier thread on /. Note to self: Next time BTC is at dollar parity, I will buy the lot of them!

Will someone send me ~1000 Bitcoins to cheer me up?!
I believe that with the ability to stop being cubically contained, I would also return at least part of your investment toward the good of the world by having the time to actually do something worthwhile. I mean, I'm not going to do Elon Musk type of things for sure, but will do my best. And really..... that's all anyone can ask aMiRite???
Thanks!

Yacoin is now up for voting on poloniex.com Please help us get listed with your vote! Yacoin is over 1 year old and almost @ block 600,000. YAC is the ORIGINATOR of Scrypt-N and SHA3, (even if you don't use YAC, but do use a coin based on either technology, you sort of owe us one ) we have 5 active devs, a native MSVC++ version, and are continuing to introduce new ideas and innovations to the cryptocoin world. We are huge fans of the transparency and honesty of the Poloniex exchange and are looking forward to being part of their community! Please vote for us at https://poloniex.com/voting

In case anyone has not had a chance to see this yet, I want to share what is, by far, the best original series fan continuation I've ever seen. Everyone appreciates what Phase II did, but STC is in a completely different league. They just released episode 3, which is a continuation of "mirror mirror" from TOS. It takes about 10 minutes to get used to the different actors, but after that it becomes like an Occulusesque trip into the 1960's. It looks, sounds and "feels" exactly like a continuation of the original "five year mission." If you are a Trek fan, or sci-fi fan in any way I highly recommend checking it out. www.startrekcontinues.com

I received the following DM from @PoIoniex with regard to adding Yacoin to their exchange. The developmental and upkeep cost of a BTC market would be .8 BTC and for both a BTC and a LTC market, it's 1 BTC. Which plan do you want?
Let me know what everyone thinks by sending to 15qUzhfiMzweuVUyoc8rdX7G1sARSTz48A within the next 5 days. If we don't meet either amount by then, I will return any BTC sent. Any BTC over that level can either remain in the dev fund if you choose or I will return them to you. Thanks, JB.

On 5/8/2013 Yacoin was officially released to the world and introduced the following innovations to the cryptocoin community. The N parameter of Scrypt(N, 1, 1) [Some call this "Scrypt-jane"] SHA-3/Keccak-512 as a hashing used in Scrypt ChaCha20/8 stream cypher used as a mixing function in Scrypt Being one of the very few coins that could ONLY be mined by CPU when released, many have said that Yacoin was one of the fairest coins launched to date. Yacoin has 5 active devs and a very strong community: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=http://explorer.yacoin.org/static/peers.kmlAs of 2014-05-08 12:56:32, YAC is at a block height of 543205. Check out http://www.yacoin.org/ for more details.

Sorry this is in English. I would love to learn Mandarin (and Cantonese), and hope to do so in the future. For all of our friends in China, I would like to point out that Yacoin can be traded directly for CNY here: https://bter.com/trade/yac_cnyI am including the google translation below, which I am sure is wrong 对于所有的我们在中国的朋友,我想指出的是,Yacoin可以直接换取人民币在这里: https://bter.com/trade/yac_cny

Currently YACoin-Qt has translations for English and Russian. Our community includes WAY more cultures than that, so anyone willing to help translate the client and website (especially in Mandarin), please let me know. Pretty much everything except for coin control functions can already be found here: https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/tree/master/src/qt/locale

BitJohn and BigVern, I have referred ~20 users to you so far and have appreciated, defended and used your site in the past. Your communication regarding YACoin has been sub-par but I (and I'm sure the rest of the community) are willing to forget this if you either re-enable YAC trading on your site, or at a very minimum, return the hundreds of thousands of YACoins that you currently hold in your cold wallet.
Respond to the community (not just YACoin, this reflects all coins.) here with your answer, and proposed next steps.
Thanks.

and will DESTROY EVERYTHING including possibly Bitcoin and a portion of the moon as well.
Can someone confirm? In the meantime I will try to keep calm.

to the first person that can successfully mine a YAC block with an ASIC. Good luck!
