81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Supporting Obscure Blockchains with Small Miners on: March 26, 2018, 05:40:50 AM
Anyone think about doing this and finding blocks on block chains that are barely going?

There is an all purpose multi-algo android miner, I wonder if that would also work.

82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / High Percentage Staking/Low Cost Coin Update on: February 16, 2018, 10:53:29 PM
I posted almost this same thing in another thread but thought it was valuable for more to see.

I have been using staking coins intensely for the last 8 months or so and this is the list I've come up with.

Other good coins I've found like BOAT are Truckcoin, RAIN, VersionCoin, Growthcoin, Healthyworm, Chess, 808, Compound, 1337 (ELITE), PoSToken (stakes in Ethereum wallet), Bitradio and BUZZ.   These are all coins we should fight for in case any weird forces try to overshadow them.   They also all have good enough communities.

Bottlecaps was/is good but needs to get on a decent exchange.

BOAT stakes consistently, and even though there isn't a high percentage, it stakes quite often with not much investment.   I think should support this list and promote them to keep up with good staking gains.

Backing up staking wallets is easy, just make a few copies of your wallet.dat file in the Appdata folder and encrypt it.
83  Economy / Exchanges / Did Bittrex Credit You the IGNIS Airdrop? on: January 22, 2018, 11:31:48 AM
I bought NXT expecting to be credited with this but never was.  Anyone ever get it?

84  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Does anyone know any brand new low cap staking coins? on: January 06, 2018, 12:56:45 AM
I set up another machine to stake on but all the normal higher staking coins are completely spiked right now.

Looking for newer or at least maintained low entry coins.
85  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / YOBIT Tips for doing USA Taxes Real Time or Slightly Delayed on: January 04, 2018, 08:20:09 PM
YOBIT seems like one of the exchanges that doesn't have spreadsheets you can download nor an API that plugs into sites like Cointracker.  Here in the USA we need this information for taxes.   I am hoping some people can get together in this thread and figure some of this out together.  I've watched some videos and know the basics, but the YOBIT site right now seems to rely on you doing the taxes at the moment more than some of the other sites.
86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Where are people talking about the new US tax laws? on: January 02, 2018, 01:46:55 AM
We need the exchanges to build some kind of app so this is all done for us.

Anyone have any intelligent links on this kind of idea?  I know Polo had excel downloads.

Are there any threads here where people are talking about this?

87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How do you use a peerlist for staking coins? on: December 27, 2017, 04:24:46 PM
I have added nodes to .conf files but never updated using the information I just received.  This is for the Bitcointalk (TALK) coin, which is one of about 8 low entry coins, awesome percentage of staking, but not too high that it crashes the price.  My other list is Truckcoin, RAIN, Version, Growthcoin, Chesscoin, Bottlecaps (exchange account being repaired presently), Compound, 1337 and HealthyWorm.  Some of these you stake for DOGE or LTC, like 1337 and Compound.

Here is the information for the peerslist:

89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is Bittrex Supporting the new Bitcoin forks? on: December 21, 2017, 05:49:27 AM
Yobit and HitBTC have already created accounts with SBTC and HitBTC says they will credit Lightening Bitcoin as well.  What is Bittrex saying about what their going to do?
90  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Setting up antminers what step is missing here on: December 11, 2017, 03:43:21 AM
I found this elsewhere on here.  Thought there was a step missing, but for some reason my desktop wasn't able to log into any
192.168.1.x's that I needed, even the router set up.  Then I tried with my laptop and it could and it renamed properly.   Couldn't
delete the message but still curious why the desktop session doesn't allow login to those ips.

 1. Make sure your router is running 192.168.1.1 not 192.168.0.1

 2. Plug in  your cords and cables, PSU to s3 and ethernet cable from s3 to a open port on your router or switch

 3. Power on the PSU/s3 then cut the cotton end off of a Qtip and use the stick part of the Qtip as a reset tool. If there is a reset button in there you will hit i with this.

 4. With the power make sure the 2 green and 1 orange lights are on and use your reset tool to hit the button, hold down on the button until you see the green light above the ethernet cable slowly fade out. Once the green light goes out turn off the PSU and wait 30 seconds.

 5. Power everything back up, wait for the 3 blinking  lights to cycle and go solid. The red light will take a long time and blink its ass of but wait.

 6. Open your browser and go to your routers settings 192.168.1.1 and in you LAN setup you want to find the address reservation section.
In the address reservation section click ADD even though you don't see any devices yet. Once click ADD it will show you a list of devices and the s3 should be there with a ip address of 192.168.1.99 and name of UNKNOWN and maybe a MAC address similar to this C8:EE:A6:02: (all 3 of mine do) Mine i reserved the 1st address of 192.168.1.101 & named it antMiner_1.

 7. Open a new tab and go to 192.168.1.99 this will take you to the s3's login page. login and click on network, then click edit WAN, chnage static ip to dchp client, click switch protocol, then click save and apply, then power off your s3, wait 30 sec power it back on, wait for the lights to all blink and go solid.

 8. In the address bar type 192.168.1.(whatever address you reserved in the router) my 1st one was 192.168.1.101 hit enter and the s3 login page should come up, login and change whatever junk your going to change and your done.
Repeat those steps for each s3 and you shouldn't have any trouble losing or finding them and before you know it you will have one hot ass noisy room!

91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Problem with S3 after trying many pools on: December 10, 2017, 05:42:31 AM
I was trying to find a Curecoin pool which is hard to do and so had to turn off the miner a bunch of times in a couple of minutes when I was finding out the pools were dead or getting the settings right.  I could not get the miner to connect to any pools after that.  Does anyone know what kind of error this might be?
92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Coinwarz Slack or other Social Channel on: December 10, 2017, 05:05:08 AM
They are saying Curecoin is like $40 to mine right now.  I have tried to mine this coin on and off and you can't even find a working pool for it right now. It's mostly folded with a Chrome extension or the miners keep it secretive, which is extremely odd for a philanthropic coin.

Does Coinwarz have a slack or other social channel.  There aren't even active threads here.
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / What is the best pool for Bitcoin Cash with low payouts? on: November 30, 2017, 07:28:09 PM
There needs to be somewhat big ones that hit a lot of blocks.  Pointing an s3 and s1 there so need lower payouts.

96  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Any good new coins that are not ICO's? on: November 11, 2017, 04:17:24 AM
Been looking through the Annoucements thread for these.  Anyone know of any?  I figure they can't be that hard to spot.
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is Bittrex going to give us our Bitcoin Gold? on: November 10, 2017, 03:14:54 PM
Is Bittrex going to give us our Bitcoin Gold?   They said they would take a snapshot of our balances and then credit it to us.  It's turning out to be a major altcoin so not sure why they aren't listing it.
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / How much Bitcoin Cash can you mine with an Antminer S3? on: November 06, 2017, 02:23:23 AM
Just curious if its possible to mine any with it.   Keep in mine that miner is on anyway for the electrical heat in winter.
99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Do you invest only or do you stake or do both? on: November 01, 2017, 12:42:29 AM
I am kind of amazed on how so many people lost money on staking bad coins and haven't been more investing in the good ones.   It seems like those who stake don't know how to invest and those who invest don't know how to stake.  I'm aware some people are completely paranoid about having a wallet on their computer.   Maybe this thread can overcome these problems and make some people richer.
100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is the Average Crypto Investor able to Use Staking Wallets? on: October 30, 2017, 03:00:40 AM
I'm beginning to think they're not.  They're able to trade, but not able to use a Staking Wallet or let alone mine something.

I think it comes down to the insecurity of having something they're in control of on their own machine.

I'll re-quote something I wrote a while back:

"For those who don't know, staking wallets are the easiest thing in the world to back up.  You just save your wallet.dat file from the Appdata folder, and if the wallet ever corrupts, just delete everything in there except that wallet.dat (and maybe a .conf file if there is one) and restart the wallet.  It rebuilds everything and syncs.  I just keep backup folders of the name of my coins with their .dat files in them, and all the coins are safe."
