3  Local / Hors-sujet / Guerre Iran-US on: January 04, 2020, 10:17:44 AM

Early Saturday, another US air strike hit the convoy of Shebl al-Zaidi, head of the Imam Ali Battalions, near Camp Taji military compound north of Baghdad. Six people were killed, most likely including Al Zaidi and his lieutenants, according to US officials. The PMU while confirming the strike claimed it hit “a medical convoy” – evidently taken aback by the new tempo of American attacks.
Shebl al-Zaidi, reportedly one of the more vicious Shiite leaders, was jailed during the US occupation of Iraq, and has been photographed with Qassem Soleimani

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bjarne Stroustrup is disappointed that C++ is being used by BTC on: November 12, 2019, 12:37:50 PM
“Let me say it this way. When you build the tool, you don’t know how it’s going to be used. You try to improve the tool looking at how it’s being used, but really, you have no control over how the thing is used.”

Stroustrup continued, “So, I’m very happy and proud of some things C++ is being used at and some other things I wish people wouldn’t do. Bitcoin mining is my favorite example. It uses as much energy as Switzerland and mostly serves criminals.”

What is Nano (NANO)?

Nano is a next-generation decentralized network and cryptocurrency designed to solve instantaneous peer-to-peer payments without fees or the need for expensive computational resources.

Nano utilizes a novel, block-lattice data structure that requires each user account to have its own blockchain and processing power
The user account’s blockchain keeps track of their account’s entire transaction and balance history
The architecture allows transactions to be confirmed instantaneously and asynchronously, rather than waiting for pre-determined block intervals
Each Nano transaction is then broadcast to the entire network and recorded in historical ledgers
Nano transactions cost on average $.002, which is the amount of electricity needed to complete a small proof of work for processing
Originally called Raiblocks, Nano was launched on October 4, 2015. It rebranded in January 2018

Some screenshot examples of the keys and their visualization from the project:

1) Pattern 1 and the corresponding key + address (compressed):

2) Pattern 2 (heart) and its key + address (uncompressed):

3) Visualization of custom HEX key (the key was taken from the public internet, and it corresponds to the uncompressed BTC address with the transactions):

11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How feds have been able to identify the users of the largest child porn website on: October 17, 2019, 05:09:10 PM
Welcome To Video: How the website worked

Welcome to Video (WTV) was a child pornography website that operated out of South Korea and allowed users to buy content with Bitcoin or to upload their own. Upon signing up for the site, users received a unique Bitcoin address where they could send funds to buy content to view.

When law enforcement shut down the site, they seized over 8 terabytes of child pornography, making it one of the largest siezures of its kind. The site had 1.3 million Bitcoin addresses registered. Between 2015 and 2018, the site received nearly $353,000 worth of Bitcoin across thousands of individual transactions.

Taking down Welcome to Video

Cybercrime transcends national borders. Welcome to Video had a global customer and contributor base requiring cross-border collaboration among law enforcement agencies across the world. IRS-Criminal Investigations (IRS-CI), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and other agencies used Chainalysis software to analyze blockchain transactions and map out contributors and users of the site. This enabled them to disseminate the blockchain evidence to their partners in the United Kingdom, South Korea, Germany, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the Czech Republic, Canada, Ireland, Spain, Brazil and Australia, and ultimately make arrests.

With the site’s listed Bitcoin address, IRS-CI and HSI used Chainalysis Reactor, our investigations product, to analyze transaction activity and build a graph showing the flow of funds in and out of the WTV address.

Here we see that WTV received funds from several different exchanges. This information allowed IRS-CI to contact exchanges for more information on the addresses sending money to WTV.  Because exchanges typically perform Know Your Customer (KYC) processes, many were able to provide copies of identification, addresses, and other relevant transactions associated with those accounts.  While in many cases the information supplied by the exchanges was enough to identify WTV users, in other cases IRS-CI was able to combine the account information with open source intelligence and standard investigative techniques to identify users.

Chainalysis tools then augmented the work done by IRS-CI and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) to break down regionally-specific information. This both helped law enforcement teams around the world make arrests related to WTV, and understand how blockchain evidence can be used to take down sites like WTV more generally.

By March 2018, agents arrested the WTV owner and shut down the site.

14  Other / Beginners & Help / Which app to check PGP file signatures on Android? on: October 01, 2019, 11:14:23 AM
If you want the latest version of Electrum for example, you need to download the apk on the Electrum website (because the last version is not available on Play store).
So you need to check the PGP file signature of the apk to be sure there has not been any hack.
I do this by installing a shell terminal for Android(Termux) and the gpg package.
But it's not convenient to use a shell on a smartphone, and I don't think it's a suitable solution for beginners.

So are there apps on Android offering PGP file signature checking?

Thank you

16  Other / Archival / Impôts : nouvelles règles du BOFiP (sept 2019) on: September 11, 2019, 06:13:22 AM

New Zealand Gives Greenlight for Cryptocurrency Income and Salary Payments

New Zealand has published a ruling by its tax authorities that allows paying workers’ salaries with cryptocurrency. The publication also includes specific requirements regarding this issue.

Now, according to information published by New Zealand’s tax regulators, cryptocurrency will be legalized and employees could begin to receive salaries in digital currency. The ruling is expected to begin officially, from the 1st of September.

New Zealand’s Inland Revenue Department recently released a tax information bulletin on Wednesday the 7th of August. It clearly states specifics about the new ruling under 91D of its Tax Administration Act 1994, which allows employers of labor disburse remunerations in crypto, with tax provisions as well.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [2019-08-06] The City of Seoul Will Create a Cryptocurrency for Citizen Rewards on: August 06, 2019, 09:55:56 PM
The Seoul Metropolitan Government will establish its first blockchain-based administrative services in November, according to a report in the Korean-language blockinpress.

The city’s blockchain points system will be introduced and residents of Seoul will receive S-coins for the use of public services. They will be able to redeem those points for rewards. Services that generate the coins include paying taxes and participating in public opinion polls.

In addition to the S-coin, a blockchain service for submitting qualifications without paper documents is also on the list for completion by November, as is the enhancing of the Seoul Citizens Card with blockchain to enable digital authentication for the use of public services.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Where can we trade DOGE with leverage? on: July 05, 2019, 06:05:53 AM
Do you know which exchanges offer margin trading for DOGE?
