1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do I pay taxes when I sell an alt coin for bitcoin? on: September 26, 2017, 03:03:52 PM
Do I need to pay taxes if I sell an alt coin for bitcoin then rebuy a different alt coin. I never took out actual USD so I am unsure how that would work. Or am I only taxes on actual USD made when I cash out?

Taxes are different by country but at least where I'm at I interpret it as only needing to pay once its cashed to fiat.

This is such a broad question though and I wish there was a website out there showing the exact tax rules by country for crypto trading.
2  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is the Biggest problem you have with trading / exchanging? on: August 04, 2017, 12:09:34 PM

The one tip I can give you is sell high buy low. Maybe you have read this but I'm gonna tell you when. AT THE PEAK and AT THE BOTTOM.

Hope I helped you. Happy trading and more wealth to come.

My biggest problem is that I tend to buy high and sell low... For some reason no matter what I do the result is always the same, I end up worse than if I just waited long and when I do wait it just continues down (or up if I already sold).
3  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Turn $10,000 into 1 Million on: August 04, 2017, 12:06:53 PM
Thats a big portion of your portfolio on LTC. You still plan on holding it all the way to 1M even when Bitcoin is already getting segwit (one of the primary reasons that boosted LTC price)?

No plans to hold anything ad infinitum at this point. Later on that might change though. If we get up above $200 on LTC I might start dumping.  Wink

I think the point was why are you bullish on LTC when Bitcoin is getting the same main feature of LTC currently (segwit). Personally I'm an LTC bear because I don't see what it offers that Bitcoin doesn't or can't other than a faster confirmation time and different proof of work system.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: couple questions regarding bitcoin cash on: August 04, 2017, 12:00:57 PM
Hello folks.

The first question is pretty straight forward: if I wanted to determine the value of my bitcoin holdings (which were obtained before the 8/1 fork), the answer is (number of bitcoins) * (bitcoin value) + (number of bitcoins) * (bitcoin cash value), correct?

Second - are people making an effort to sell their bitcoin cash before the price falls? For argument's sake, let's say bitcoin cash is at its highest value right now. If I have access to the private keys of my bitcoin wallet, should I be making an effort to sell the associated bitcoin cash?

Thanks.

First question: Yes that is correct

Second question: it's a matter of opinion but we already see on bittrex it topped out at 0.48 btc per bcc and now its under 0.1 and has been dropping steadily since it hit the top. You may believe it has hit bottom or nearing it though but I think it's currently too risky personally.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] ShadowToken for the highly rated Shadow Era TCG on: August 04, 2017, 11:58:48 AM
Just checked the website of the Shadow token project - 667,872
TOKENS SOLD. So, everything is going on OK)))) Waiting for results))))
It s not a lot, but I'm not worry about that.
This ICO would be cool from the begining to it end.
The game is functional, with a big gamer community and there is a lot of functionality upgrades for the project.
In all cases, the game will be better in the next weeks/months and it is the guaranty of a good return for this ICO.

Even now sold 729,111 shadow tokens. Hopefully this project can go smoothly as expected by the shadow team and the entire Shadow token community.

There should only be 6 million tokens in ICO I think since only 60% on sale, so 729k isn't bad for the first few days.
6  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or gold? on: August 04, 2017, 11:52:30 AM
For 10 years,i think gold better then bitcoin, coz gold low risk
If you're going to invest in gold in 10 years you will receive the same amount. If all these 10 years you will earn with bitcoin you can in these 10 years to buy 10 times more gold than buy now. Gold is convenient to store only during the war. You ready for war?
Of course, bitcoins are the most efficient and profitable investment currently. Gold has nothing to do with bitcoins. Gold is just better for ornaments and wedding gifts. Bitcoins are much better than gold. Bitcoins can make you rich in short time as compared to gold. Bitcoins can double you money even increase it manifolds within short time

You are just too young and don't know a thing

Gold has been sticking around as a valuable asset for many millenia, and most of that time it was one of the most valuable assets out there and likely the most universally accepted one at that. Do you really think that Bitcoin (for all its technological novelty, advancement, and distinction) is going to change anything in this regard. It has only been for some 70 years that humanity wasn't involved in some kind of self-extermination, otherwise you would have quickly found out the real value of gold

Bitcoin can indeed make you rich big and quick time, but gold won't make you poor, no matter what

That's indeed the difference, it's a question of risk, gold is more or less the lowest risk investment out there.

I still prefer bitcoin though, maybe it's because I'm risk averse but I also truly believe the huge potential upside outweighs the relatively small risk of it crashing to nothing.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoin that is good for 1 month profiting on: August 04, 2017, 11:49:17 AM
For such a short term trade I would suggest going for very popular ICOs. When they get sold out fast they tend to jump in price once they are listed on a popular exchange.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: █【ANN】【ICO】AUGUST 5█ 🌟 BLOCKLANCER 🌟 JOIN THE 1 TRILLION $ MARKET 🌟 FREELANCE on: August 04, 2017, 11:46:41 AM
Blocklancer is the most famous ICO by far , my expectation the token will sold off in first hour, will it?

I'm not sure it's really the most famous ICO but the cap is certainly reasonable for one with as much hype as this.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Royal Kingdom Enterprise ICO on: July 30, 2017, 11:55:13 PM
newbie again, for ico? looks like 10 newbies per day for ico, doubt if any silly investors there to support them
i think is more than 10 ico per day Grin

Everyone is trying to cash in on the ease of raising funds. I think the community is starting to scrutinize these ico much more than before though.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin DOOMED to have high transaction fees on: July 30, 2017, 11:53:50 PM
though this is a non issue anymore, others are right that this issue could reoccur.  the one behind tbe spam transaction can go and spam the network again. hopefully segwit would be enough to counter those attacks so the fees will not rise again. though the miners benefit from those attacks, i do not think they are behind it.

If spam transactions include a fee they are not really spam. Bitcoin needs to be able to handle dust transactions to be useful for all applications anyway. I think side chain solutions are what will enable it and segwit is an important part of making that happen.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling on: July 30, 2017, 11:51:57 PM
I'm about to dump this so hard  Grin

Me too, I will dump the second it can be traded and laugh so hard at the panic that will follow.

At least it's a good opportunity to buy up more bitcoin right after.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Cash! Dead on Arrival? on: July 30, 2017, 11:50:33 PM
Not many people believe that bcc is going to save bitcoin, bcc is going to destroy bitcoin reputation and they didnt know what to do with this coin,  many people are trying to dump it when they got the opportunity, I dont think bcc is going to be around for a long time

I'll have my popcorn ready during the fork and watch the dump in progress, the real question is where will the dump end, eventually even if its for less than a dollar people will buy it up and it will probably survive in some function.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is NOT mathematically limited to twenty one million bitcoins on: July 30, 2017, 11:47:35 PM
Satoshi set the 1MB cap as a temporary measure, but he predicted that users would get "tyrannical" against raising it because of not being able to run nodes and so on.
I've seen no such statement of Satoshi's.  Please provide a link.
...while Bitcoin users might get increasingly tyrannical about limiting the size of the chain so it's easy for lots of users and small devices. ...

Nice, but that statement was not a prediction. It was a hypothetical scenario used to show how one block chain is not necessarily suitable for all applications.

Satoshi was a visionary for his time but it isn't like he was infallible so take anything he says with a grain of salt and perhaps don't try to read too much into what he meant by it.

I think the Segwitx2 agreement is the best temporary solution to scaling and incorporates elements from both sides of the argument as to how to proceed forward.
14  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Bitcoin also lead to corruption ? on: July 30, 2017, 11:42:54 PM
Yes it can, because all the transactions of bitcoin are anonymous and the corrupt people needs such type of platform to save their black money and to transfer them anywhere without taxes and without government consideration. Everything can be use either in positive of negative way, this is the negative use of bitcoin to do corruption.
Yeah bitcoin has anonymous and decentralized facilities and that's what criminals or criminals use to do illegal activities.
The corrupt just need to wash their money into bitcoin and then they can convert it again to fiat without being seen. That's bitcoin expertise

There are ways to track it though but with the use of mixing services it sure does help criminal activity a lot.

I have yet to hear of bitcoin being used in corrupt cases though, but I guess it's only a matter of time now.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ICO] PARAGON NETWORK: Decentralized World Wide Network on: July 30, 2017, 11:38:55 PM
What about information about the team members, escrow etc.?
Sorry but this doesn't look legit to me...

I hate it when they are not corroborating with high-rank members and get a professional announcement designer to post their announcement, such a huge project like you claim do not deserve a cheap announcement like you have right now this ico is cheap and do not deserves our trust.

With so many good ideas floating around, in the absence of absolute professionalism I don't see any reason to invest.

An altcoin needs more than just a good concept.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Cash is a Parasite on: July 29, 2017, 11:38:56 PM
Indeed, it is a useless project, which is not good for the crypto-community as a whole.

I disagree its free money and once it fails all talk of forks in the future will be dead in the water without consensus.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Ethereum best for investment? on: July 29, 2017, 11:37:14 PM
While holding a few ETH for the long run is a good and safe idea unless you've got a ton of money I wouldn't gamble everything in it expecting massive returns as the time to get in this one was under $50.
Keep some ETH buy Litecoin XMR,XRP,ANS,Iconomi and hold.

I agree diversification is best, and your choice of coins to hold is mostly good but for the love of god don't touch XRP that is the biggest fail of a currency based on nothing but fake hype.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum price may goes up this week[Starting from tomorrow] on: July 29, 2017, 11:35:59 PM
Most people will keep bitcoin when the fork happens in order to get the free BCC. Ethereum price will go up in the coming weeks but it will be independent of bitcoin.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC is amazing. But... on: July 28, 2017, 11:23:13 PM
Someday sooner or later, If the chinese goverment blocked the Internet access to the whole world,
What can we do?

Do we have any availible plan to protect the great-BTC-chain?

The Chinese government will never turn off their internet, too much of their economy depends on it but assuming they did mining difficult would just decrease to whatever hashing power is available outside the country and bitcoin would survive fine. The price might crash a bit in the short term but it wouldn't ruin bitcoin's future.
20  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Crossed $2,829 on: July 28, 2017, 11:21:12 PM
So whats you stats saying? in how many days it will cross $3000btc
as far as 1st august is coming the bitcoin is rising. it seems that it will be at $5000 after 1 Aug
Coincidentally today that is the price at the moment, the next days are going to be very interesting bitcoin cash is going to appear as a hard fork and that may make things a little bit difficult for bitcoin on the short term but I do not think that altcoin is going to survive for long.

The problem is while bitcoin cash is a nice concept since it is clear it will be the minority chain everyone will want to dump their free coins rather than consider it based on its pros or cons.

As for the price of bitcoin right now it seems to have stabilized after the initial pump and I wonder where it will go after that, I think for sure it will cross $3000 before the fork but could have some mini crashes too.
