Definitely something for people to keep in mind. For those of modest means, frugality is essential. But even those with greater means can benefit from being responsible stewards of wealth.

"I believe that thrift is essential to well-ordered living."  –John D. Rockefeller

"Frugality may be termed the daughter of Prudence, the sister of Temperance, and the parent of Liberty."  –Samuel Johnson

"There is no dignity quite so impressive, and no independence quite so important, as living within your means." –Calvin Coolidge

"I have learnt to seek my happiness in limiting my desires, rather than attempting to satisfy them." –John Stuart Mill

"A penny saved is a penny earned." –Benjamin Franklin

UBS: Bitcoin Not Yet Stable Enough to Be Mainstream Money

https://dcebrief.com/ubs-bitcoin-not-yet-stable-enough-to-be-mainstream-money/

I agree on that. As long volatility is so high Bitcoin is in my opinion more speculative investment that serious way of payment. There are many who are trading it on a daily basis and many who are holding it, in hope for its value to rise. But there are few who are actually using it as a mean of payment.

I know that DNotes has plan to build an intrinsic value, a coin which would in the future had pretty stable value. That would be great advantage to mainstream users. I know that there are still many obstacles until then, but I have seen how the team is working and I'm sure that in the future that goal can be reached! Wink

You're right, Amadeus. A stable value is critical for any coin that intends to gain mass acceptance and adoption. How many of us would feel comfortable relying on a currency if its value could dramatically fluctuate from hour to hour and day to day? That would make it almost impossible to use for normal commerce, since your wealth could literally be halved while you slept. Imagine going to bed with $1,000 in your checking account and waking up the next morning to find that your account's only worth $500. Meanwhile, that $900 mortgage check you mailed two days ago is about to bounce like a super ball.

Yikes.

That's Bitcoin right now. Great as a speculative investment if you never bet more than you can afford to lose. But as a payment option? A reliable savings and long-term investment choice? Not so much. Not yet, and maybe not ever.

Fortunately, DNotes has had a long-term strategy to achieve stability, intrinsic value, and trust right from the start. And if the last four years have shown us anything, it's that the DNotes team and community see obstacles as nothing more than milestone markers on the road to success.

We've added email based 2FA for anyone who does not have Google 2FA enabled on their account at the DNotesVault. It is an extra step in logging into your account if you didn't have 2FA enabled already, but not a big burden and well justified for the additional security and protection of your account.

Brilliant. There will always be some who are unfamiliar with 2FA, and thus might not take the time to set up the security feature in their account settings. Always nice to have an automatic 2FA in place to provide them with that added level of protection. Well done, as always.

The commissioner's comments are encouraging, but I generally wouldn't have much faith in the ability of the actual decision-maker ability to think through and come to rational conclusions. A decision like this is normally down to corruption or incompetence (being wrong). Since the commissioner has spoken out and made some rational conclusions of fact that shouldn't be difficult to arrive at (except for her staff), we can deductively remove the former as an option. It is only a matter of time until bitcoin etf's. They will keep trying.

Great work on the interview. I throughly enjoyed it.

Those rational conclusions would be a lot easier for bureaucrats if they were able to better respect their roles. That was part of this commissioner's overall argument, in fact - that the SEC's decision represented an expansion of the agency's regulatory role beyond what was intended by its empowering acts of Congress. She apparently recognizes that the SEC's merit-based assessment represents a serious threat to individual choice, which is a core element of personal freedom. Rather than assessing whether the current markets can meet the basic threshold required for satisfying existing law, the Commission instead substituted its own judgment about the nature and maturity of those markets - unwisely denying those investors the opportunity to invest in digital currency on their own terms.

I agree that ETFs are all-but inevitable. It's just unfortunate that the path to greater liberty and opportunity so often runs through the confused and tangled woods of an unelected and all-too-often unenlightened bureaucracy.
