81  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [INFO] Stacks Bowers Physical Cryptocurrency Auction 2023 Thread on: March 02, 2023, 10:22:35 PM
I walk by their auction house every day on my way to work...so one day I dropped by after making an appointment with James.

All I can say is I was greeted very warmly and we discussed crypto coins in general and how the auctions are held.

I cant say anything negative about them, but the only thing I do not like are the starting prices.

I have not placed any Casascius coins for sale nor do I plan to....I cannot stomach the idea of starting a casascius loaded coin at $1 and then be at the mercy of the markets.

If there was a reserve in place I would feel much better. But then thats my two satoshis on the the subject, other might not worry about that at all.

I say to each his own, but other than that he was great and responded to my emails promptly as well.

I was planning on grading one of my coins and giving it a try, but PCGS did not grade my coin and they are the only company that I know of that had

jumbo encapsulation services big enough for my coins.

What's the diameter of your coin?  I know NGC has some big cases, but not sure they are accepting crypto coins.
82  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [ANN/INFO] CARDSMITHS - CURRENCY SERIES 1 TRADING CARDS on: February 24, 2023, 09:37:57 PM
After submitting the online form for a base set redemption are we to immediately ship these to the given address? Or wait for a confirmation email explaining shipping instructions? I assume the latter because first come first serve wouldn’t work if 63 people sent in their base sets. I’m sure this is the case but Jupityr clarifying here might help!

I believe i read somewhere to wait for response.i wonder how long these take to sell out. Im betting were close to halfway there.  Now the race to fill another set.

Do not send any sets for redemption until you receive an email with the confirmation and form to send in with your cards.  Sets sent without a confirmation number from us will not be honored.

Just had 3 more packs delivered. I weighed them on my trusty lil scale, two packs weight 43.9g and one weighed 44.4g. The 44.4g had a redemption in it!

Awesome!!  Smiley

Great discussion!  Certainly, we did our best to try and eliminate errors and printing QC, but you'll never get a perfect run.  Even Panini struggles with centering and frayed edges on their Prizms and refractors.  The thicker materials make it harder for the machines to cut cleanly.  So it's a bit of a trade off.  Thicker materials or easy to cut sheets.

Regarding the /159 Beryl.  We generally have to remake certain refractor sheets several times due to all of the various challenges with combing the various materials.  On top of that, the Cardsmiths "C" logo foil-stamping is done at another vendor, so if they came back with a problem, we had to reprint and resend the sheets back to them for stamping.

In the end, the /159 likely came from a late sheet that was remade at least once.  When the person went to apply the numbers on that late sheet, they apparently set the /XXX for the wrong value.  The first number, which is certainly most critical, were correct and never duplicated.

And I’m just patiently waiting for the full base card set  “burn” “trade in” promotion to start lol

Should be able to start the set redemption promotion next week.  Just waiting on the final legal bits (terms/conditions) and website stuff to be sorted.

Smoothie has been known to sell releases to only certain customers FYI. Not saying they're real but they certainly could be. 🤷‍♂️

This I know for a fact.  If you have an "in" with Smoothie you at least have some ability to still pick up some older offers.  These new ones look pretty epic.

Any idea who the owner might be of these recently graded PCGS examples?

@JUPITYR, I want to order a few more boxes but Australia has been removed from the list of countries when estimating and/or calculating shipping costs,
Do you know if they still shop to Australia?
Are you able to ask them to re-add it, would go through another seller but I know Cardsmiths offer Afterpay services

Ok, looked into it and the issue was corrected.  Should be good to order now.

Thanks,
J

I agree it would be nice to be able to substitute in a card or two, maybe holo or crystal sparkle versions of a card in place of the base card, for the redemption set.

Now what fun would that be?   Wink

I have two full sets now just waiting for card 1A. Why is that "base" card so super-rare?

Perhaps that's the card that will be gifted to you in exchange for the ??59?? other "cheap" base cards.

No, you will need all 62 cheap base cards, including 1A for the redemption promo.  ;-)
