The beautiful mathematical design of Bitcoin just makes sense. The very moment Bitcoin's basic principles / ideas underlying Bitcoin system were explained to me I knew Bitcoin is a scientific beauty. I am a mathematical layman, but the beauty of the concept simply floored me. Just like Mona Lisa smile would floor a neanderthal. This is arbitrary. Yes, it is. I thought that how Botcoin system works cannot be changed unless 100% of the participants agree. Being a silly newbie I realize that I might not be understanding the exact, the whole and the true picture of the case though. Out of curiosity: 1. Why not 100 or 1000 micro BTC, but 54 BTC? 100 or 1000 is nicer and divides better. 2. Couldn't devs spend their valuable time on providing upgrades with non-controvertial features?

What is the worst case scenario for Bitcoin, Bitcoin users and MtGox clients?
When will the court proceeding realistaically take place? Will there be asset freeze? Etc?

I believe that running the bicoin exchange of the size of that of MtGox is a profitable business now and should be even more profitable in the future.
Why would MtGox sell the operations generated on North American clients so cheaply (the revshare described in point 4)? - 60% on current customers and 10% on new ones while they could very well enjoy 100% of old and new ones by running the operations by themselves?

Frankly there is one issue that relates to 2 factor auth at Mt Gox that I need to resolve soon. I posted on it here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=192561.0 but nobody replied. I suspect it is either trivial or uninteresting for others. If perhaps you can find time to have a look and have working knowledge of how 2 factor auth on MtGox works, your help will be appreciated. Thanks

How to find out if you have been keylogged? Simple First of all, disconnect all Internet using programs, Skype, Yahoo, Hotmail, Browsers, etc. Go to Start--->Run---> type CMD When the command window opens Type netstat -a A list of connections will appear, letting you know what IP's are connected to your PC If you recognize an IP that's different from yours and has " ESTABLISHED" behind it, then you have an ongoing connection with that IP and you're probably keylogged.
Should I look for different than mine addresses in Local Address column or in Foreign Address Column? I just watched some video on YT and used ''netstat -b'' command and there appears to be an active connection using ''jusched.exe'' between my IP (Local Address) and Foreign IP that belongs to Akmai Technologies http://www.checkip.com/ip/23.64.224.60 http://www.akamai.com/html/industry/index.html this company provides services to people with guns calling themselves US Gov. Should I be concerned? Some people say jusched.exe is a virus, some say it's Java related process. EDIT: there is also lms.exe running. People say it is sometimes a legitimate Windows process and sometimes a maleware with the same name http://www.pcpitstop.com/libraries/process/i/LMS.exe.html

127.0.0.1, 12067 is the port of your router, While 127.0.01 is your router/local IP no worries about it. [::]:123 Could be related to your router configuration, you could worry, if there's a complete IP like the one you've got has an ongoing connection with your PC, or an unknown web server that a keylogger could be hosted on. I do not use a router. I have a cable modem like this one http://www.digitallanding.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Comcast-Cable-Modem1.jpg given to me by my cable TV / Internet provider. Thanks

Hello Rayen,
These are valuable hints.
When I follow your instructions on how to find out if I am keylogged I get a bunch of different lines with: a) my IP, e.g. 67.371.21.79: .... I suspect this is the way it should be. b) e.g. 127.0.0.1:12067 Is it Tor-related? When I typped ''CMD'' and ''netstat -a'' Tor and other Internet using apps were closed. c) 0.0.0.0:123 What are these zeros? is it okay?. d) [::]:123 What are these?
Thank you.

Hello, Newbie here asking for help setting up 2 factor auth on mtgox using a smartphone. A kind soul is kindly asked to help. The present state: 1. I have an account at Mtgox and want to add Google Authentication service in Mtgox in Security Systems. 2. I bought an Android phone 3 days ago. 3. I downloaded Google Authenticator into my phone and get the following sentences / commands on the phone after starting this app: First screenWith 2-step verification , whenever you sign in to your Google Account you will need: 1. Your password (non-clickable) 2. A code that this app will generate for you (non-clickable) Begin setup (clickable command which I click and arrive at): Second screen that shows: Add an account (non-clickable):___________________ Manually add an account (non-clickable)Scan a barcode (clickable; Q1: Is barcode reading app built-in Google Authenticator so that I do not need to download any other additional application?) Enter provided key (clickable; Q2: Should I type Mtgosx's ''Auth Name'' or ''Standard Private Key'' or ''Secure Private Key''?) Q3: Are ''scan barcode'' and ''add an account'' interchangable, meaning that performing any of the two will result in a success or do I need to both scan the barcode and enter the key? _______________________ Available Google accounts (non-clickable)myname@gmail.com (clickable; Q4: is it advisable to create a new Google Account or is it okay if I use the existing one?) Q5: Do I need to reveal my Google Account or this option is only for Gmail? Thank you.

Set Bitcoin-Qt back to SOCKS 5 and restart. That's what I did and... Bitcoin_Qt works however in Vidalia Control Panel -> Message Logs -> Advanced I get these notices: [Notice] We tried for 15 seconds to connect to '[scrubbed]' using exit $C34D2B2A0C48DF3E5CFBE8ACAB6E6DDC038294AA~TorExit2MttJocyNL3 at 95.211.213.148. Retrying on a new circuit. [Notice] Have tried resolving or connecting to address '[scrubbed]' at 3 different places. Giving up. Should I worry about them? Many thanks for your help.

Thank you very much for your help. Things look much better now - there is connection between Bitcoin-Qt on my computer and Bitcoin network When I go to Vidalia Control panel -> Message Log I get this in ''Basic''''Potentially Dangerous Connection! - One of your applications established a connection through Tor to "68.10.154.87:8333" using a protocol that may leak information about your destination. Please ensure you configure your applications to use only SOCKS4a or SOCKS5 with remote hostname resolution.'' In ''Advanced'' I get three types of messages every few seconds, e.g.: ''[Warning] Your application (using socks4 to port 8333) is giving Tor only an IP address. Applications that do DNS resolves themselves may leak information. Consider using Socks4A (e.g. via privoxy or socat) instead. For more information, please see https://wiki.torproject.org/TheOnionRouter/TorFAQ#SOCKSAndDNS. [1 similar message(s) suppressed in last 5 seconds]'' [Notice] We tried for 15 seconds to connect to '[scrubbed]' using exit $2624AE0466BD02AFAF3F263D4361D79ABE0E7E05~IPredator at 194.132.32.42. Retrying on a new circuit.'' ''[Notice] Tried for 120 seconds to get a connection to [scrubbed]:8333. Giving up. (waiting for circuit)'' Should I do anything about this? ----------------------- My torrc file reads now: # This file was generated by Tor; if you edit it, comments will not be preserved # The old torrc file was renamed to torrc.orig.1 or similar, and Tor will ignore it AvoidDiskWrites 1 ControlPort 9151 DataDirectory C:/Program Files/Instalka TOR/Tor Browser/Data/Tor DirReqStatistics 0 GeoIPFile .\Data\Tor\geoip Log notice stdout SocksPort 9050 SocksPort 9150
|
|
|
1. I followed your instructions and Tor wouldn't start; these are Tor's messages after adding ''SocksPort 9050'' line to a torrc file:
Warning: SocksListen Addresses can’t be used when there are multiple SocksPort lines Warning: Failed to parse/validate config: Invalid SocksPort/SockListenAddress configuration Error: Reading config failed – see warnings above
2. I erased this ''9050 line'' from the file and Tor works again.
3. I use (Vidalia Control Panel -> About): Vidalia 0.2.21 Tor 0.2.3.25 Qt 4.8.1
|
|
|
Check your Tor configuration file (torrc) and verify that your SOCKS port is either 9050 or not set at all (if it's not set, Tor uses 9050 as the default). This is the content of torrc: ___________________________________________ # If non-zero, try to write to disk less frequently than we would otherwise. AvoidDiskWrites 1 # Store working data, state, keys, and caches here. DataDirectory .\Data\Tor GeoIPFile .\Data\Tor\geoip # Where to send logging messages. Format is minSeverity[-maxSeverity] # (stderr|stdout|syslog|file FILENAME). Log notice stdout # Bind to this address to listen to connections from SOCKS-speaking # applications. SocksListenAddress 127.0.0.1 SocksPort 9150 ControlPort 9151 _________________________________________ What should I do? I simply need an idiot-proof instruction like in torrc file change ''9150'' to ''9050'' and change ''9151'' to ''9051'', and then close the file. Thank you.

I suspect my account was compromised or I am just paranoid.
I have an account at MtGox and visit this account very frequently (3-5 times a day) to check my number in a verification queue.
I went to Mtgox website 40 minutes ago, typed my Username and Password, and a red small window told me my password was incorrect and if I forgot it I could type in my e-mail address to recover it or to get a new one. I thought I just simply made a typo in my password. I repeated the action 2 times more and the red window kept on popping up and telling me ''incorrect password''.
I shut down my computer and my modem. Then I restarted the computer and the modem, went to MtGox's website entered the Username and the Password and could log in without any problems.
I searched the website, while logged in, for ''you were logged in on ...(date and time)...'' information to check if someone else was logged in using my Username and Password, and I couldn't find such an information.
Could someone tell me: a) if I should consider it a problem not having being able to log in three times using the correct Username and Password (there is of course an unlikely possibility I typped in a wrong password); b) is there a log in history for an account at MtGox's website available to account holders?
Thanks.

I do not mind founding the account at Plus500 with a few bucks required just to get a reasonably reliable real-time data feed + to get ability to perform basic technical analysis. Did I say I wouldn't mind? - Heck! - I'd love to
