261  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: YACoin Info And Communication Thread For Newbies YAC the CPU/GPU Mined coin on: June 12, 2013, 04:07:31 PM
Can someone explain to me what will happen to the viability of GPU mining with the N-increases?  It is basically going to be more RAM dependent?
ad1) That's an interresting question, but I don't know if there is a reliable answer to this yet.

It's supposed that CPU stays very competable, but since CPUs will be required to use data from RAM and GPU's GDDR is far faster I'm not 100% sure about this. Only time can tell how CPUs and GPUs will function in the future and what system will be the most profitable.

Nevertheless the difference won't be several magnitudes so CPU can at least coexist.

ad2) Yes, it will become far more RAM dependent.
The memory requirement is for one core and GPUs have far more cores than CPUs.

brilliant idea, I hope you make a lot of money.

Wish Yac would get more attention. It's the only other coin that provides at least SOME innovation compared to all these litecoin clones.

Actually these scam and trash coins could be very benefitial to YAC's performance. Once people realise that some fancy new coin is probably a fancy new way to scam them serios people will stay away from new coins. Thresholds for new coins are rising quiet fast so already existing coins like YAC have a far better standing against further inovation.

If there is really a new "serious" coin to launch in the future, there are extreme high and inconsistant requirements. It mustn't be pyramidial or too beneficial to early adopters and still get enough promotion to get noticed over trash coins. Technical innovation is a must, but all "safe" new features are already in use so these inovations come with great risk.

YAC might become the only established CPU-only coin, which is a huge advantage. Kudos to FTC,CNC and VAG for keeping new coins out.

It's just bloody unreal.. coin being 51% attacked doubled it's value in 24 hours and keeps it.  Shocked
That's a little bit to earyl to state that. I see some red candle showing up on the chart ...
265  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FTC real, last death throw, or actual evaluation on: June 09, 2013, 11:55:15 PM
It's above PPC now, kinda sad thing..

That's only the value for one coin, which is not so important. The market cap of PPC is still more than double that of FTC.

See http://coinmarketcap.com/

I wouldn't say that isn't so important since most people don't think that far. Unless they try to argure why LTC should be at exact 0.1 BTC or such nonsense ...

BTW: I like that site, never heardabout it be4. There is really a living crypto with less than 1000USD marketcap?
266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FTC real, last death throw, or actual evaluation on: June 09, 2013, 11:20:41 PM
2 weeks ago or so it went to 0017 just to be dumped to 0006 again.

And it will do that again.

Probably, most probably.

I don't think that they could do that over and over again, so I suppose they will soon dump everyting and abandon ship. More than 2000BTC is in the bid so they could use some of that money for a more "inovative" scamcoin.

The trash coins make it very easy to hide launch of a scam coin so they can easyly mine most of it. They start promoting and buy everything on the exchanges. Once the sheep see a skyrocketing new altcoin with a good promotion ...

Kinda scary how easy that is, but if scammers realize this methode there won't be any new inovative and honest cryptos anymore.
267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FTC real, last death throw, or actual evaluation on: June 09, 2013, 10:44:20 PM
Slow miners have missed the boat... in fact they missed the boat even before launch because the coin climbed in matter of days.
As far as I would say not many serious miners started at launch since they overlooked most of the potential and freaked out as they saw it's success. A new altcoin with no technical benefits seems to be a waste of energy to mine so the developers could easyly mine a bunch of them without much competition.

They might even bought the first dump of the other miners and so it looked very stable untill the first sheep wanted to buy that inovative coin.

Very clever.

I am mystified as to why, ok it's go a community but it really offers nothing that LTC does not offer, except its worse....
It offers a good chance to screw other people that join later. Early adopters are encuraged to promote it since they know it won't be worth anyting in a year.

I might be wrong, but I don't see this surviving '13.

They infect their employers networks and use 100s of computets and free electric and make money.
mmmm anyone with hundreds of computers need staff  Shocked
Hmm, it would be morally wrong to steal from your employer, but what about a unpaid traineeship where the employer doesn't mind if you run some hardcore mining. I don't know if this kind of tax evation is legal (probably not), but it seems impossible to prove and benefits both.

Assuming that you life in a state that spends billions on banksters or MWD I see no moral problem there.

276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Some tips if you are making an alt-coin on: June 07, 2013, 08:49:24 PM
I would at least have the opportunity to take my business elsewhere.
Many people (including me) take that opportunity when they hear about a pre-mine. The worth of the pre-mine at the time it was created is just a very tiny fraction compared to the reduced price this lower demand causes. Taking 100USD for themselves and ignoring the fact that this will make their currency some several thousand USD less valueable is a pretty good example of screwing someone.

278  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FREE YACOINS! YACOIN FAUCET! on: June 07, 2013, 08:15:23 PM
Starting a scammer threat over 0.05BTC (incl my donation) seems to be over the top since his explanations are beliveable and there are easier ways to emty your own faucet without anyone noticing.

Even if this is supposed to be a scam it's unliekly someone risks his reputation and work for 5$.

If the developer announced before the launch that "a few thousand" would be premined, I would think nothing of it. Actually, I would be more inclined to support the coin, due to the upfront honesty.
If your cardealer is so upfront hones to tell you that he's goint to screw you on your car it doesn't mean that's a honest business! Every successful crypto went from a few cents to at least some bugs. That's usually more than a 100fold and enough to make some serious money for anyone.

Nobody stops the developer to be the first to invest 100USD in his invention and a developer that isn't willing to risk that little money is usually not willing to invest some more time after relaese. There is no need to revard developpers for a failed coin and a successful coin has already made them some nice money and donations.
