181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why the internet sucks. on: July 09, 2017, 10:08:07 PM
Im talking about buying cards at 250 and selling for $400 not old cards

right now its a sellers market so i you can get cards for nomal prices you can make far more selling gear than farming with it.  The use that doubled money to build a small or large farm at  half the.price you would have before if you had just used them for mining outright.

i.e get 50 cards for $250 each , sell 30 of them for $400 or more, then basically build the  reamining cards into rigs basically for free

Not into it. But that seems a very good advise Marvell.
182  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why the internet sucks. on: July 09, 2017, 10:00:09 PM

theres no conspricy theory here gtfo, mining is profitable if you can get your hands on hardware at a good price , say 20 percent max over retail, then u still have to buy the jacked up priced motherboards, power supplies risers etc lol

the large farms are the ones buying up all the hardware stocks not small 100 to 500 gpu farms, all they can do is preorder and hope for the best.

either way u noobs are stupid late to the game , maybe you will make money maybe you wont no one really cares enough to stop you from mining wtf

no one is gona encorage u to take a dumb risk bc that what it is right now , but taking risks is how money is made duh.

personally i would buy a ton of rx 580s make a few rigs and sell off the majority to buy 1070s

but Im pre ordering shit, if i cant get it within a week or two weeks Im good , no one knows what will happen to  prices in two months.

so do you, grow some balls take a risk or not

Hey not saying that there is no good guys around here telling the things how they are really. Of course there is.
If we are a community and we want to grow. It is good to start by helping each other. That is all I wanted to say.

Now saying that it is too late in the game is an other false statement. Who knows ? Do you have a cristal ball ? What if...
And finally let me remind you that you've been noob too.
183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why the internet sucks. on: July 09, 2017, 09:41:11 PM
I'm about to order parts for my first rig... Or maybe not.

I've been researching mining for the last 3 months, and I'm keen to dive in. The plan was to build an 8 x RX 480 8Gb rig, with a view to expand in 6-9 months to a much larger setup. However, there's a lot of things I've been considering that makes the decision a little tougher.

1. Ether mining is going to get really tough soon, but that's not to say other coins are not worth mining when it gets tough.
2. I can't seem to find an answer as to whether the forthcoming hashrate drop for RX cards will affect other coins too, or just Ether.
3. SOME PEOPLE ARE NOT ENCOURAGING!!!

Point 3 is arguably the biggest issue I have right now. On one hand, I'm seeing people with huge rigs making good profits. They're helpful, give advice, and offer tips for optimisation! This is awesome!!! But then there's people who just diminish the whole idea of mining, claiming that its pointless, not profitable, a waste of money etc etc.

I'm looking at this as both a proof of concept, and potentially a long term option. I'm not going blindly into this, or buying 1 ancient card with a hashrate of 2. If I'm going to do this, I want to do it properly, which is why I've spent a good while researching cards, pools, altcoins, even did 3 months of day trading on bitrex, where I managed to make a little bit of profit!

So, I'm asking some of the more experienced miners out there, is mining still worth getting into? (Also, if anyone can give a definitive answer on a good backup coin to mine after the RX get hit with the ether hashrate drop, that would be great!)

Many thanks to everyone. This community is infinitely more helpful than other ones out there!

That is funny...
I posted something talking about that earlier. I had the same feeling as yours seen comments very oftently pointing in that direction. Mining is not Profitable!

And reading the topic I discover that some will hide behind the fact that the question is ask millions times... well. How easy and unfinished statement is that ? in my opinion.
I think there is an other one and here is my earlier post.

There is one thing I am quite sure is that some miners doesn't want you to mine. Because more miners less profit for them. So they will tell you how hard it is. And that it is not profitable.
That you should not invest in mining because you will loose money at the end.

IT'S ALL FALSE.

if it was true well NOBODY would be mining. NOBODY would be buying equipment from Bitmain or others... but the problem is that they are all out of stock and you need to order 2 months in advance to get them and prices are rocketing... really !?

Something doesn't match here... !!? Is everybody gone mad buying stuff to loose money ?
NO

Mining still profitable if you are doing it the right way.
Electricity cost still the biggest problem to stay in profit and for sure it is impossible to get some profit mining BTC in most countries.
But there is plenty other coins to mine.

At this point the only thing who can change is a Market crash with very slow recovery.
Then it wouldn't be sustainable, but also maybe no more BTC then, if there is nobody to mine it at big lost ?

We just need to be aware that market crash happened before and can happen in the future. And that you can loose money investing in mining. Fact. But you can also make money. Also fact.
184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to solve the ICO and shitcoins madness? on: July 09, 2017, 07:30:26 PM
There are so many coins, over 95% of them will be dead and will never EVER have any real usage. I see people shilling shitcoins on twitter, telegram, slack, etc. and all that so they can later dump on people that are new to the crypto and fall for this. It's setting a very bad image for newcomers and taking away money that could be invested in the growth of real coins with potential and future. If you say something or try to warn someone, you are called a troll or FUD spreading because everyone in crypto right now thinks that they will get rich quickly on some coin that will be dead sooner or later.

ICOs... same story, I don't even want to start with this... Why are people so dumb and how to prevent this?

You cannot stop the ICOs Trains. Some of them are great others are good and others have no sense. That the way innovation goes.

There is nothing we can do if most of them will never ever leave the station & Some people will then realize how crazy they were to invest money in a broken train with no engine.  Grin

185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Investing in Ripple but not in bitcoin? on: July 09, 2017, 07:15:27 PM
I went into Cryptos to have part of my portfolio away from banks. I'll never ever invest in a crypto partly controlled by those same banksters.
Just doesn't make sense to me.

Congrats! Welcome with Giga Watt.
I am in with a S9 and a L3+ (August and September Batch). Grin & Waiting for more Mining Cryptos to be added by GW.

Sorry for the redundant question, I asked this on the Slack but no one answered. How much LTC can one L3 miner yield within let say a month? Would more than one be recommended, or is 1 sufficient? I've never mined before. I have over 1k tokens.

The L3+ is really good. The amount will decrease with the time. Difficult to predict the future. But at the moment it is around 0,95 LTC per day I think.

Wrong. You think you know everything but you don't.

Do you think Charlie Lee quite his job as a Director of Engineering at Coinbase to go full time with Litecoin because they are doing nothing so he can have a good time ?

They is a lot coming ahead for Litecoin development. SegWit have just been implanted and there is Lightning Networks coming. And they are working on new development everyday.

LTC has been introduce as the BTC companion that can test development before it is implanted in BTC if it is necessary. A test network for Bitcoin. But they also have their own developers doing a very good job.

At the moment LTC is even faster with cheaper transaction price than Bitcoin.

So anybody saying that this is not a good Project.

I am asking again. Anything better to propose for hosting mining solution ? Coz after looking at it I cannot see anybody offering a better deal.
I agree Mr. Frog looks like a really good deal. Having read the white paper and the existing set up and business that's there. I live in Australia and Electricity costs are crazy expensive.

I do have questions for Giga Watt about the tokens and rental arrangement

1. Is Giga Watt responsible for finding people to rent the Tokens/Watts we have purchased?

2. Will the Token Watts will be bundled together with other peoples to be rented out?

congrats of a good ICO.

The only thing I know about that is that GW is a very responsible and transparent company and that they definitely try to keep a good balance in between all the investors in order to have the tokens rented by miners who need it.

They will create a platform where miners and tokens holders can deal with the rent. As I understood.

Got the felling with some post that this forum is a giant troll box. And you are doing a good job in that direction xbiv2.

Guess what ?
I already know what will be your answer to this post. You will delete your post behind that message and re post the same BS as an answer.

We cannot discuss that way. Or Exchange new facts/Infos.
So I am done with your Topic.

195  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: July 09, 2017, 08:05:06 AM
Hi all,

Just want to remind some of you that it's not because you have a nice rank on your profile like Hero, Legendary, ... that you are one.
The fact that you have been on the forum for a long time and that you post a lot doesn't make you an expert or somebody who know more than others.

At the opposite been newbie doesn't mean you are a 15 years old knowing nothing. It just mean that you just opened an account on the forum.
Some people here tend to forget that. Specially the ones who have been here for a while.
196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: GigaWatt ICO — The Best Home For Your Mining? Democratized Access To Mining on: July 08, 2017, 09:50:02 PM
How does selling tokens that are abstract from the actual mining service any more efficient than mining contracts?

Because they are not.
They are used to built pods who will be receiving your miner. Or the miner you will rent the tokens to.
You can sell them after mining with your equipment for 2 years for example. How does that work with cloud mining actual contracts lol ?
You can even sale the miner equipment you own after some times... again, cloud mining ?

This is not cloud mining. But real mining. Tokens gives you right to use electricity at a very very low cost.
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: GigaWatt ICO — The Best Home For Your Mining? Democratized Access To Mining on: July 08, 2017, 09:33:19 PM
I'm sorry but you wasted your time. Giga watt is a scam project. Don't invest and support this type of scam projects.

Do you have any of specific proof?

He was an such example spammer that doesn't give a solid proof and try to said that the gigawatt just another scam project. But the idea looks difficult to be implemented. We know that the best way to do a research. It must be done by the mining owner.

What are you talking about spammer? You are such example of a spammer here. Giga Watt is another mining scam. You don't even need to be old here to know that mining is not profitable per company wise. They are running a ponzi scheme and anybody who invest this shit deserve to be scammed.

What are you talking about ? Mining is not profitable per company wise ? lol & Why ?

No company did it before them. They are the first company offering it that way that I know of. They just host your equipment. and the tokens gives the right to get cheap electricity. Why would it be a scam ? Where is the scam ?

Even if I am new I know It's not because you are old on the forum that you know everything and we have to believe you. I read so many non sense post from ppl who have been here for a while.

198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I have 6.5 K USD. What should i invest in? Pow? Pos? Trading ? on: July 08, 2017, 08:10:01 PM
We all know the "all eggs in one basket" story, but there are a lot more things to consider. There are moments in which you should be "brave" and listen to your guts. Smiley I hardly like any concept of a coin/token/whatever, because most of them lack the most important thing - usage (i.e. people). BAT is on a whole different level (though I hate the way they raised funds). Just imagine how many of you are using... browsers? And at the time of my first reply here the price was 4050 satoshi, now BAT is at 4370. I gave my "investment advise", because I'm following the market very closely and BAT currently is a 99.99% sure "investment". My best guess is that you can make 20-50% profit over the next few days (it already gained ~10% in 2 hours), not to mention what might happen in a few months/years.

I'll tell you what I did with 7000€ Approx. 3 BTC worse of cryptos (I started knowing/investing in BTC and others in october 2016 with 700€. I had x10 my stack in june 14th 2017 and I could have done better)  Cool

As you said. Not all your eggs in the same basket. I think this too and I have already other baskets than cryptos.
So I'll keep everything in that basket and try to make it grow. With so many stuff it is hard, and I sure had a lot of luck within my good choices.
I am realistic.
But at the same time you think doing the same 9 month would result in 70000€. You think about that king of stuff when you did it once...  Grin

But after a long reflexion I went for the secure long term investment on june 14th.

I took 2.25 BTC and invested it into 1 Asic L3+ (September Batch) 1 Asic S9 (August Batch) and 2335 Giga Watt Tokens.
Giga Watt in Seattle USA will be hosting my miners at an incredibly low electricity rate.
I wanted to do it but it is kind of hard here in France and you need time, knowledge, and place etc... and I never wanted to invest in cloud mining type genesis or other scams and I never did.

I have now only 0,75 BTC worse of cryptos to manage and I am trying to do the same as I did the first time. x10 this stack. But from the end of the summer I'll be on top of that receiving some BTC and then in september some LTC everyday.

Time will tell if I did a good choice. I am happy with it. I am a true beginner in this world and it is only worse 700€.  Tongue

Hope this will help you make your investment choices.

199  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hash rate increased by 30% this week. on: July 08, 2017, 07:21:46 PM
Historically substantive increases in hash rate predicted rises in price by a few months. But right now this could also be due to the UASF/segwit2x drama and specific parties getting ready for "war".
There won't be any war. Every major mining pool agreed that SegWit2x is the only viable scaling strategy among proposed upgrades.
SegWit2x is not signalled by 87% of miners, fighting with consensus at this point would be a totally idiotic idea.
Why would someone want to do this, the price of Bitcoin after the upgrade will high enough to compensate for lowered tx fees.

No War ? Be ready then... Segwit2x code is a joke. Who will runs it at this point is stupid.
Shouldn't we listen to Bitcoin developers to see what they think ? https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Segwit_support

How do I rent the miners?
I have 68 tokens and I do not know how to have miners.

You cannot rent them until they release the tokens. You just brought them so far.

For the miner visit the giga watt site. They have miners available. But still at a later date to be release.
