21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: altcoin mining using powerwall from tesla, worth it? on: July 29, 2020, 05:04:41 PM
Has anyone done it or is there a better, cheaper alternative?

https://electrek.co/2016/10/28/tesla-powerwall-2-game-changer-in-home-energy-storage-14-kwh-inverter-5500/#:~:text=Operating%20Temperature%20Range%3A%20–20°,%3A%20122%20kg%20(269%20lbs)

I chose powerwall 2 since tesla is popular however pricing adn spec were hard to find with tesla and other vendor's storage product.

in a fictional scenario with 1 miner + 5 1080 gtx each running at 120W (180W max) the total power consumed is 600W + ~100W (for board and cpu).
total of 700W. In one day, it can consume 16800W or 16.8KWh of energy.

The max unit storage of Powerwall 2 is 14Kwh. It appears one full powerwall can barely power 1 miner with 5 1080gtx. Obviously it does not take into account that solar panel during day will or could or partially supply power directly to miner, reducing 24 hrs.

I think your confusing K/w hours. The total powerwall can handle is 14Kw (total) single GTX1080 rig your talking about only uses 600w, that means you can multiple of those rigs. 600w isnt in one hour, that's overall.

14,000w/600w = 23~ theoretical rigs.

Its because Windows handles voltage of AMD cards more effectively. You have to use something like OhGodaTool for Linux to even get close, which HiveOS doesn't. I ran my entire farm on Windows because of the power savings with AMD. Note, It's not as bad with Nvidia cards.

25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My 2020 Rant State of the Crypto Address =) on: June 09, 2020, 04:38:39 PM
I have never been an asic dude because the flood of them once released is crazy.  I have some of course but they make up maybe 5% of my farm.  Since the beginning i have been a GPU guy.  I consider it the slow and steady horse in the race.  Has not failed me in over 5 years.

Risk is part of the deal man, you don't think the traditional market is risky?  I guess you did not live through the 2000 bust the 2007 housing bust subprime mortgage etc... I lost a bit in "non risky" stuff hehe.  From those busts though come opportunity, I bought a couple of rentals cheap back then and they are worth double now.  Chance favors the prepared mind!

EVERYTHING has risk and sure if all you do is asics and you are not batch 1 the odds are you're not going to make your $ back.  Most are savvy to that now but still buy em.

I agree, I mean even with everything to happened when I "re-vamped" my mining farm mid 2019, i would of broke even and then some right now. That was all GPUs with an electric rate of .09c/kw to 10c/kw. IMHO though the bigger you are the more profitable you will be, like you with a 4MW facility is doing very well I'm sure.

I think the "3-month ROI" comes from the huge explosion in 2017 and many people, who actually couldn't afford investing 1 year + got in. Hence the mindset was then "ROI or it's useless"

what the best memory-tweak for 1070, 1070ti?
1 or 6 or individual?

if miner can be stable in mt 6, higher mode = higher hashrate.

I went through this with some P106-100s I have, went through all MT timings 1 to 6. Noticed zero improvement from 1 to 6 all basically the same hashrate.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Last year I started a 200+ GPUs farm for ETH mining. What happened? on: June 05, 2020, 02:01:03 PM
All for 20k, psu motherboards, gpus, cpus, that was an extremely good deal, that is why you almost broke even and yet you did not, now imagine those people who bought rx 570, 580 for $800 plus each in 2017, 2018. They will never roi. Trust me, a normal job gains a lot more money and no hassle and you have a lot more free time. Thank god you left it, do not be afraid to return if roi returns to 3 months time which for me is the right reward to make mining attractive.

I had bought a lot of the Equipment in 2017 and 2018 when i was mining, so that was already in place and paid off by previous mining and selling during the 2018 boom, but i was fairly small only 50-75 GPUs then. RX580s and some 1070's.
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Last year I started a 200+ GPUs farm for ETH mining. What happened? on: June 05, 2020, 12:04:49 PM
Hey Guys,

So last year around this time I started a post, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5153622.0 about starting a fairly large GPU mining farm by myself. I wanted to share today what exactly happened, did I ROI? Did I quit? Market crash took out my farms profitability? It's complex but let's start the Journey.

My mining farm
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLd49pbd8WE&t=3s

Projected Revenue
https://whattomine.com/coins/151-eth-ethash?utf8=%E2%9C%93&hr=7200.0&p=19552&fee=1.0&cost=0.1&hcost=0.0&commit=Calculate

I want to start off by saying I absolutely love GPU mining and computer hardware. I'm a massive hardware tinkerer. For me Cryptocurrency mining was a fun, passionate way, to play with Graphics card, overclock, Achieve the best W/H ratio. I had come up with the plan for a 1 year(or less ROI) based off Ethereum price predictions and my ability to keep operating expenditures fairly low. I ran everything out of a garage of a house I bought on foreclosure. My friend, who was mining at the time, help setup the infrastructure to run it. He eventually wanted out and I bought his equipment. The total investment for GPUs was $20,000. Infrastructure was paid for and already in place by my previous mining in 2018. This was a consolidation and expansion.

I had a rough go of it. Some my expectations, such as using Claymore's STRAP features were not working. I had to BIOs mod the cards. However i was only achieving very low hash-rates of 27mh/s and lots of crashes/errors. It wasn't until I find the right BIOs mod that these cards came to life! I was able to achieve around 29-31Mh/s per card @ 120w per card. I did suffer some equipment failures and headaches. I had at least 2 or 3 Asrock H110 PRO BTC+ board totally die on me. Riser failures and even a few RX470's that died. The hardest part was I running everything by myself. If a miner crashed or we had a power outage I'd have to be the one to resolve it or get it back online. This wore on me a lot as I was working, trying to get out have a life, and date.

Sadly, by Dec of 2019 I decided to end my mining farm and sell everything off, including the foreclosed home. I was going to a rough break-up with a girl I was head-over heels for along with other personal issues(depression) that I just wanted to leave my city/state and pursue a new life. Everything was sold off, including the house, and i was set to leave. Obviously life events(Corona virus) have now forced me to stay where I'm living. On the positive note I did meet another girl and made some new friends, but sadly my one big passion, GPU mining is now gone.

So the question is Did I ROI?

Mining Farm Income
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17mI2r4EJfb-VmEXN_XizkScRClhrt9CtQGm066RXsNs/edit?usp=sharing

I kept track of my income and how much ETH was sold to cover operating Expenses. In total for 2019 I mined 80 Ethereum, with 32 being sold to cover expenses. Leaving me with 48 Ethereum cleared. At present time ($245) Worth $11,760. If I sold during the last ATH of $290 in 2020, worth about $13920.

So I would have been half-way to ROI since the re-start of my mining farm. Sadly while even selling the equipment I didn't get my full investment back. The Unfortunate news for myself is that I had a NEXO Crypto-backed Loan (How I used to purchase equipment). I had put Whatever ETH I've mined into that loan to keep the LTV high enough to not get liquidated. But during the market flash crash of March 2020, all my Ethereum(Both bought and Mined a total of 170 ETH) was Liquidated to cover my loan (20,000~)

We all face failures, I'm not looking at that, But I wanted to say that by all accounts the farm would ROI by now(even with crash if I had continued to HODL Eth and keep mining), Proving that GPU mining farms can survive. The 4GB limit would of been reached this year but I would profitable by then and selling off the RX470's to ebay, then retooling to other GPUs(1660 SUPERs) or switching them to mine RVN's KAWPOW, would continued life for them.
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining Zcash with Antminer S9 on Slushpool on: June 04, 2020, 02:40:50 AM
"I have been searching online and nothing seems to work."

I am going to say I don't believe that statement. A quick google search for Bitmain S9 will lead you to Bitcoin Mining, a Search for "Can Bitmain S9 mine Zcash" will tell you "no in 3 seconds."

Example

Example 2
https://www.quora.com/Can-I-use-the-Antminer-S9-to-mine-for-AltCoins
"Any altcoin which uses a different algorithm, or has some other type of algorithm that must be used alongside of it, is incompatible and cannot be mined for."
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1660Ti vs RX5700 | BEAST mining rig | which graphic cards to choose?! on: May 29, 2020, 05:20:39 PM
Honestly, the 1660 SUPERs would have been better if you just building a decently priced rig to mine RVN. the difference between the two is nothing but the price is a big factor. I like the RX5700's But it's seems the same AMD stuff, only good for Eth-hash, well now maybe KAWPOW after teamred did there miner 7.1 it's getting much better hashrates. Ideally you'd want to compare RTX2060's to RX5700's they're in about the same price range. 1660ti's are all but basically dead.
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How are you R9 Fury NANO ? Maybe I can help you. on: May 22, 2020, 06:27:13 PM
Thanks I have a R9 FURY doing 160w @ 18mh/s (850 core/850mv/500mem) (220w at wall on Octominer riseless mobo).

Have you tried unlocking your Nano for extra shaders? I tried mine but it wasn't able to unlock at all.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How are you R9 Fury NANO ? Maybe I can help you. on: May 22, 2020, 01:19:37 AM
Can you share your overclock settings to get 16mh/s @ 120w?
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Octominer 8-GPU + Nv 2000 RTX series not working. Seeking help. on: May 18, 2020, 12:50:33 AM
Hey, all

So i purchased a couple Octominer 8-GPU mining motherboard/cases for my friend who wants to get into mining. I figure using some RTX2060/2070/2080's would be no problem. However after receiving the units, it turns out these motherboard do not seem to support the latest Nvidia GPUs(for whatever reason?). Whenever HiveOS or Has8her OS is loaded GPU is there but not working/detected. I've exhausted all other options. Only found one thread on another person trying 1660's with no luck on these units.

Wondering if anyone out there has an updated BIOs for these? Trying to use the Octominer Web contacting support just sits there and spins after I hit the submit button.

37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: BIOS modified RX5700 | how to edit timings | 10% speed increase. on: March 03, 2020, 10:11:22 PM
try -GT 151 -openclLocalWork 64 or 128 -openclGlobalMultiplier 4096 in PheonixMiner for 65+ mh/s. It's not fully stable but fun to see!
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: way to use all 8GB VRAM which is half disabled on P104-100 card on: October 24, 2019, 01:45:17 PM
Any info about the Gigabyte cards bios?
Anyone?

Try one of the BIOs listed here. It doesn't matter that is Gigabyte or not as long as it P104. I suggest using HIVEOS to flash your cards as well.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Small Miners, how much do you make ? on: October 06, 2019, 03:54:00 PM
I have about 200 GPUs and earn about 1K(at current prices) a month after electric mining Ethereum. Im hoping ProgPoW will kick off all the ASIC and we'll see a decent return to GPU mining again.
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: way to use all 8GB VRAM which is half disabled on P104-100 card on: October 06, 2019, 02:36:19 PM
Hi, i'm going to try to flash my Asus P104 with the bios 210804.rom

Anyone got more info on how to tune the card after flash?

Your going to use more power so just be careful. Other than that not much. Also that BIOs MAY not work, I had to try a varation of BIOs on my P104s to find ones that unlocked it.
