3721  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: December 09, 2015, 12:30:23 AM
What do you guys think if I use this to house the network switch, power cables and 2 PSU for the Avalon(s)?  I may help further reduce noise from the PSUs.  I don't think the PSU get too hot to be a big concern for the enclosed cabinet which also have outlet for heat and an exhaust fan.   Also how do I insert pictures?  The insert picture button does nothing.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Goplus-9U-Wall-Mount-Network-Server-Data-Cabinet-Enclosure-Rack-Glass-Door-Lock-/351191843901?hash=item51c4aa443d:g:rWYAAOSwBP9UYLzq

I think that has item has to little of exhust.  If you look at it appears one not so big fan at top of box.  You really need a intake and exhust for air.  If you make it less or slower then fan on miner... you are going to restrict airflow and likely get hot.  How hot? Don't really know without trying it.

If you need it even less which I did not find it to bad on sound compared to some other miners, I would suggest look more at something like Phils S7 mod for sound.  It was honestly a great mod for sound.

On pictures it has to be a site that works here on posting.  But you just insert the direct link between the html code.  If it works you will see it, if not you see white with red writing and you know you need to upload image to different place.  I use photobucket just as I have a LOT of photo's up for my reviews and it was easy.
3722  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: December 09, 2015, 12:25:26 AM
anyone know how to buy one in europe? none on ebay.
zoomhash only does USA.
one german website but they are very expensive

Hi, when you import a miner to europe, you must pay your country VAT and some custom taxes (not very high). So, 1.720€ / 1.21 (in spain we have 21% vat) 1.421,49€, it is same price than zoomhash...  Roll Eyes

btw, if you found some place to buy at low prices, please, send me a pm  Grin

Europe is kinda a hard zone for miners.  The electricity price and VAT just kill a lot of ROI.  Good thing is miners in Europe tend to sell for more.  Bad thing is that is since you paid a good amount extra normally on vat.

BlockC would be official seller since it's in their area as far as the split between them and Ehash.  But there is that MOQ there.   So again with vat kinda tough as a miner.

I would highly recommend looking into hosting somewhere.  There are a decent amount of them at this point.  But find a place with decent electricity and no or very small vat and you are much better off, in most cases.  It is not as fun as having miner there to tinker but that way you stand a chance at ROI.
3723  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: If I wanted to play the lottery solo mining... on: December 09, 2015, 12:19:10 AM
You're right, cloud mining would probably be my best option. I take it you recommend hashnest over any other company?

If you use lee from this thread you pick your own pools

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=934581.0

or buy from hashnest

https://www.hashnest.com/

or do what I do one from both .

Even if Lee's system detects all downtime, and he does not have to report it. OP would for sure have to send monthly hosting fee.  So I guess it would depend on OP where hes going for a year.  I would assume he has internet and can monitor it and pay monthly.   It just is not 100 percent no touching like hashnest as far as buy it and let it run.

I just am not sure on it if he truly is away.  If going to be away and not able to monitor I think hash nest has some pretty good guarantees.  And you really never have to be there, or send monthly payments.  It's all done automatically.
3724  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 21 cents per kw, Any way to mine? on: December 09, 2015, 12:13:31 AM
You might make a short term profit, but you won't even come close to making enough back to pay for ANY currently available miner before it goes unprofitable (if it EVER makes a profit).

Cryptocoin mining is a low-electric-cost game if you want to make anything at it.

Looks like I will need to leave it to China.

There is hosting center you can put it in with China, US, Canada and others aswell those are just first 3 in my head.  But you can still own hardware but you need to send it somewhere where electricity is fair.

At current rate you really cannot run more then a miner for "fun" it will never be for profit, which is not what most want.
3725  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: wanted: New hardware on: December 09, 2015, 12:11:16 AM
I have to wonder how much of the zombie issue is U3 specific, and how much of it is USB miners in general, as I saw far-too-frequent zombies out of the Gridseed blades (not daily, but usually more than once a week per blade).

I have had 0 Zombie issue with any device whatsoever. I have 3 different miners that connect through USB right now and i do not get Zombie at all. I'm guessing the U3 were mass fabricated with a defect and now we need to use a workaround solution for it.

Are you saying you had 0 zombies with U3?  Or are you saying with other devices?

It's pretty U3 specific other ones can get it.  But it seems to be firmware that is not the greatest on U3.  They can be helped with scrypts and it really does help.  But out of box they are not so great.

I had 0 issue with other USB miner device in general. The problem only seem to happen with U3. I'm sure there are other miners out there that go zombie. But many does not and work great.

You can zombie out other miners, it's just harder.  U3 pretty much do it on their own.   I have managed to do it with compacs when playing.   It was in the upper freq, and likely not enough power from hub.   Also adjusted voltage on compac and it fixed it.

But you can do it with other's you just have to push them pretty hard from my experience.  U3 just is easiest by far as it does it on it's own.
3726  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: can i make a profit with 50 ghs asic and no electricity bill? on: December 09, 2015, 12:07:58 AM
Someone asked almost same question here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1280239.0

There is no good miner within it to ROI.  It's going to be lotto miners.  U3 and Compacs are pretty much best options, but read pro's/con's.  Also you will pay more then you ever make that is why they are so often lotto miiners.

You need to go bigger to ROI.
3727  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Looking for a good Pdu on: December 08, 2015, 06:41:36 PM
PDUs aren't areally good or bad. They're electrical devices that all conform to the same electrical standards. The main differences are: Dumb PDU (basically a glorified power strip), metered PDU with ammeter (displays current use) networked PDU (has web interface to view info) and switched PDU (web interface + port control ie remote rebooting etc).

Get what suits you best in terms of available plugs and features.

Also look online.  I owe learning this from Phil.  But check out ebay even you would be suprised how much cheaper PDU's are 2nd hand then buying of say amazon or some store and being first owner.

You honestly can save a ton doing this.  If you want one that does entire 30 amp you easily could look and find a lot of choices on ebay.   If I knew how to use it my PDU would be a "smart" one but to be honest I have had good luck with just using in dumb mode and have left it off the network.
3728  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [OPEN] Official FutureBit MoonLander USB Scrypt Stick Order Thread on: December 08, 2015, 06:06:11 PM
Anyone know if these little sticks will work with any current pi mining OS like minera?

It can be built under RPI so yes it can work with it.   Right now easily under raspbian on RPI can run, and I have one running.

Minera would not have the custom BFGMiner loaded on it for the moonlander though. I think it will take a custom buid. This was done for the compac, so it's something very possible.  Just don't think anyone has done yet.

Im the current maintainer for the scrypt drivers on bfgminer, once the stick ships the driver will be merged into the main bfgminer branch. So it will work "out of the box" with minera. Of course doing this yourself is easy enough...you just need to replace the bfgminer directory minera builds with the custom driver for it currently.

I stand corrected then.  That is even better then I thought on that.  Out of the box is great that it's going to do that.

So even more good things about these devices Smiley

3729  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Nano - Stick Mining Fun! on: December 08, 2015, 06:02:43 PM
So are you trying to use the GUI or are you using a cgminer you mention in folder?   If using the GUI which one is it the one on first page? There are 2 that I know of of top of head they had at one time for it.

On "my_login.worker1" you dont have a"_" and a "." in your login do you?  i'm guessing not but wanted to make sure.
3730  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: If I wanted to play the lottery solo mining... on: December 08, 2015, 05:56:46 PM
So would you suggest I join a solo mining pool then?

On a S7 no.  That is a lot to spend on a chance of soloing, and if you pay electricity it's even higher so a ongoing cost.

Solo is fun but personally I only do it with much smaller miners.  I just don't have fun putting all mine on solo and get no return.   Remember with solo its like the lottery, chances are with 1 S7 you will not ever hit

You can not solo mine at Hashnest. If you buy S7 hash you will be mining on Antpool using PPLNS reward system.

They likely did this so they can get fee's from miners easily.  If they did not do this and allowed solo they would have to ask for payment monthly vs just taking it straight from mining earnings.
3731  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Best Gh to Watt Miner? on: December 08, 2015, 05:54:09 PM
I never said it had to seem like the miner had an ROI i asked for the best Gh to Wattage ratio. and the First one posted is currently the best if it runs at that wattage and Mining speed.

You asked for in part
the problem is i've been away for a while and i'm having trouble finding the best miner (50Gh-100)

So that makes it in lotto range.  Best price is U3 but read about zombies. Best GH to power by far is doing multiple compacs and get enough for it to reach 50.  (They get 8 gh easy on running, and 16 gh easy with oc and y cable).

That doesn't show i'm asking for ROI it's showing i'm asking for what is the best miner within the other things mentioned aka GH to Watts.

Look above... I gave you the anwser.  It does not consider ROI.  I told you your best options.

Please re-read it then search about those miners.
3732  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cloud Mining - Please help a newbie on: December 08, 2015, 05:28:33 PM
I have a bit of ghs with eobot.  I'm considering getting some ghs on hashnest as well.

Never tried eobot, hows their service?

Just look at site and make your own judgement.. but look at "SHA-256 5 Year Contracts Sold"

Do you know of a single BTC miner that lasts 5 years?  I sure don't know of any with fees that would make it near this.  So I consider it bad right there.  And that is before the fact no evidence of hardware that I see.
3733  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to collect BTC ?? on: December 08, 2015, 05:26:14 PM
You look like the first contact bitcoin
Yes, that is true
I know bitcoin the first time three weeks ago from my friend and I am interested because of my friends get a lot of money from bitcoin

if your friends get a lot of money from bitcoin. whether they do not tell you about the secret?

signature campaign and trading good way to collect bitcoin. dont play gambling because it will spend your bitcoin.

Also don't believe everything you hear from people.  If someone say's "I have a ton in bitcoin" that could be such a wide variety.  It could be from the whales worth hundreds of thousands or some guy who thinks hitting hits first BTC is big.   You need more details than he say's he has a lot.

If you know his BTC address you can look it up.  You might be able to tell what hes doing depending on activity.  But again you need to know more.

if they are good friends should they tell all. how do I get that a lot bitcoin.

yes despite his own friend, at least they provide proof that they really have a lot of bitcoin, usually they said it was only a joke lol

I agree it would be better of friend just to tell them.  But if they ask friend how much he considers a lot it would tell us a lot more of the story.

I doubt it's truly a whale.  Just a lot of whales I knew with a ton don't really brag.  There are a few exceptions but most are more worried about making more then bragging.
3734  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC Trojan Miner In Your Computer - How To Detect on: December 08, 2015, 05:22:16 PM
We all know that there are BTC trojan miners, which mine BTC in your computer. But how to detect this trojan ? If I understand right, you can not see this through the task manager. So you must check your CPU speed ? And the main question - how to delete this parasite ?

That's what the Antivirus is good for. to detect potential threats! If you have a good antivirus and keep it updated it will protect you from that kind of harm.

And if you know you have one I would blow OS away and reinstall.  I don't trust it's gone if I knew I had something.  Might sound extreme to some but it's really not that hard to do.

If you do this then make sure to get current updates, anti-virus, anti-malware, etc.  After you get all that back up then stay away from whatever got you the trojan in first place.

3737  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Bitcoin Mining Device Available In INDIA on: December 08, 2015, 04:58:43 PM
There is nothing in Stock as I type this..

Also really should go into services thread.  This is not a new hardware, but a service of selling gear to India.

Might go to hardware sales if just hardware being sold.  Either way it is out and is wrong spot to have this.
3738  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: December 08, 2015, 04:57:22 PM
Homemade tin foil shroud with 2 x 250 CFM extractors from Home Depot (piped out a basement side window). Just enough to extract heat from 2 x S7s and 2 x Neptune cubes exhausting upwards.

Inserting setup don't know that I have seen to close to this before on neptunes.  Do you have more pictures of the foil shroud? I would love to see a little more of it.

Thank you for sharing!
3739  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: B-Eleven sha-256 ASIC miner on: December 08, 2015, 04:54:55 PM
my point is they didn't need to raise the price. why or what i mean really means nothing to any one etc !!! just some random thoughts, i had about how things go up and they don't need to .Smiley. and maybe why they did . if you renumber one of there interviews about the S7 how they were still for Home miners , that went out the door with the S5 +, it  was a test but not why  they told us. sorry for what might seem like the rumbling of a mad man. there not .

I love mining but not for the money , it keeps me sane .The money is just candy that comes from doing it.

it actually started with CPU's , i renumber searching the web back when it all started and even had it running on a PC Cpu mining but saw no point then . the rest is history. A friend who is now dead also did it back then. wish i had listened.

Just me being old, pushing 60 now or close.

I think it is pretty random as this miner does not even have a cost yet that I know of.  There is still a lot not decided.  So saying it's high.... is really  speculation.

But I agree would love to get them cheaper on miners.  But it's based on what you can get partially from mining.  If a mining company could get more why they ever sell gear?

So it's they are going to sell at quick profit.  But with current price of BTC I don't expect it to go down much unless difficulty goes crazy.
3740  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: December 08, 2015, 04:52:25 PM
Been around 2.5 day's of running with two and no issues.  They keep running on my pool and are pretty consistent.

So so far it's looking pretty good that they will make the week marker working without issue.  But still some day's to go.
