61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PTC] ---- PirateCoin ---- Arrr! on: January 15, 2014, 06:15:18 AM
Yarrrrr!  This old salty dog noticed the net hashrate was a little slow, so I went fishing solo for blocks!!
Got me a dozen of the little suckers in the past 2.5 hours!!!
What were you using for a .conf file? I'm still crap at making them

You weren't asking me, but I used the file from https://forum.megacoin.co.nz/index.php?topic=229.0 and just changed the RPC port.  For my .bat file, I used one that I had made to solo mine another coin, changing the RPC port.  That one I believe I created by taking one of my normal .bat files and putting localhost:11655 instead of the usual tcp+stratum...:xxxx part of the file.

64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.4 Released MANDATORY UPDATE on: January 13, 2014, 03:12:15 AM
DOGE wallet will not sync.

Anyone got some addnodes I don't have?
Code:
addnode=67.205.20.10
addnode=95.85.29.144
addnode=162.243.113.110
addnode=146.185.181.114

addnode=95.85.29.144

addnode=162.243.113.110

addnode=146.185.181.114

addnode=188.165.19.28

addnode=166.78.155.36

addnode=doge.netcodepool.org

addnode=doge.cryptoculture.net

addnode=dogepool.pw

addnode=78.46.57.132

Gota use v1.4 wallet to avoid the fork, and it updates Very Slow.
8hrs or so to do whole thing from scratch, 1000 blocks catch up will take 5 mins or so.

I have all of those nodes and I'm still stuck on block 45405.  It's been there for 5 days now and it won't update.  I have version 1.4.  Is there anything else that I'm doing wrong?  I still have the "WARNING: Displayed transactions may not be correct!  You may need to upgrade, or other nodes may need to upgrade." error.

unable to sync my wallet. I've got v1.4 and  I've redownloaded the blockchain.  Getting the message "Warning, displayed transactions may not be correct, You may need to upgrade or other nodes may need to upgrade". Is there a solution for this?

I'm having the same problem.  I have several days worth of DOGE mining from my husband's video card (mine is mining RPC atm) just waiting to be downloaded.  I know that they're there, but I still would like to see them :-).
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.4 Released MANDATORY UPDATE on: January 10, 2014, 11:00:47 PM
Woo!  Up to 40!  I had some trades set up at 40... I stopped selling when it started falling well below that.  Glad I kept piling them up.  I'm not sure if I want to put too many more up for sale until after the block halves though.
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.4 Released MANDATORY UPDATE on: January 10, 2014, 09:14:54 PM
I'm getting the message:

WARNING: Displayed transactions may not be correct!  You may need to upgrade, or other nodes may need to upgrade.

I'm running 1.4 and have the upgraded nodes.  I have the wallet up but am not downloading blocks.  What do I need to change?  I have some DOGEs that I've mined that are waiting for me once the wallet is up to date.

I may be too late, but I this sentiment is fairly libertarian anyway:

“But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.” ~Thomas Jefferson

I usually hear it misquoted regarding all sorts of items... but if it neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg (regarding anything) why should we restrict liberty?

I'm still mining them through multipool, but I pretty much stopped selling them when they dropped below 30 satoshi.  I'm hoping for the value to go up after block halving as well.  There's a lot of fans on Reddit, and there's still a ton of people mining them, so I'm holding on to them for now.
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GRA] Grain - New PoW/PoS coin | Fast, secure | Version 1.2 Released! on: January 05, 2014, 05:03:14 AM
Oh my goodness did I get lucky!  Shocked

I decided to try solo mining a little while ago... just to give it a try.  Since my computer is running around a couple hundred Kh/s, I wasn't expecting to see anything for hours... I didn't even know if I had my miner set up correctly.  I think my account over at otakasamaaa's Graincoin Pool must have been deleted or something; even though I had an account over there, I couldn't log in.  Turns out that reregistering with the same user name and password worked.

So while I was registering at the pool over there... I found a block!  I had to have been mining for only about 10-15 minutes or so.  I think I got more GRA in 15 minutes than I have in the rest of the time that I spent mining... other than giveaways, LOL.

Anyhow... regarding earlier discussions here... I don't mind that GRA isn't on an exchange yet... the longer that this train keeps chugging along at low difficulty, the more of a chance that us little miners have to get some.  I would have very little chance finding a block in one of the highly hyped up coins like MOON or DOGE.  If this coin slowly grows and gains interest, perhaps there is less of a chance of this coin being pumped and dumped.
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much KH/s you got? on: January 02, 2014, 07:14:08 PM
Right now... between two machines... I'm getting about 85-100 kH/s  Embarrassed  In the last week I've made more money selling BTC t-shirts than I have mining...

I have an R9 270 coming in the mail soon (ordered it on Christmas day) that will probably improve things a bit  Cheesy.
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tired of all these crap coins? on: December 29, 2013, 05:28:44 PM
What does activity on bitcointalk have anything to do with releasing a coin?  I could make a coin today, Lorrencoin, and have me and my friends mine it.  I could spread the word on Facebook, and not even mention it here, yet it still would be a coin.  Would it be a popular coin?  Probably not.  It would still be a coin though.

Is it a little annoying to see tons of coins every day, not knowing what to bother with?  Sure.  I think that we should have the freedom to choose whether or not we want to mine them or not though.  Some will take off, many will not.
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Resurrection from the Death: DOGECOIN is on his/her way to the moon!! on: December 29, 2013, 05:19:11 PM
I haven't sold any of my DOGEs at the price it has been for the last day or two.  People are still mining it like crazy, so it must be worth something.  I'd love to come home from work today and see that some of my open trade orders have been filled though... which would mean that DOGE was going up.

I second the idea of mining some of the new coins.  You never knew what is going to take off next.
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most profitable scrypt to GPU mine on: December 26, 2013, 07:37:52 PM
The most profitable coin seems to change fairly rapidly.  Sometimes on an hourly basis...

DOGEs are often at the top of the coin profitability chart at the moment.  Grandcoin has been up there a lot as well.

Coinwarz is the best to figure out what is best at the moment.

79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Fuck Cryptsy, Fuck Cryptsy, Fuck Cryptsy on: December 24, 2013, 08:38:00 AM
So far, DOGE deposits on Cryptsy seem to take me a lot longer than with other coins.  They've all eventually gone through though (although I'm waiting on my last deposit).  My points balance is 0 though...
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Just got an email that Alpha is opening up preorders for Q3 scrypt ASICs on: December 24, 2013, 08:29:35 AM

Wow..if these things are legit they wouldn't care less if someone cancelled, they could just sell the unit off to the next buyer. What a con.

Aside from all this, there will always be a market for new coins to mine for those with GPU's. Coin dev's will just modify their current coins to circumvent these devices and new coins will be design with resistance in mind. Interest in coins that don't comply will die.

Not following the logic of, "... if these things are legit..."  and "What a con."  Why wouldn't they sell the unit to the next buyer if the previous buyer opted out of the proposed contract?

Now, your next point has my interest.  You make a very good point and it deserves more consideration.  What we're looking at is development of business and technology growth at an ideal time.  World economies are recovering.  Unemployment is going down.  What better time to develop?  Look at what is happening.  Just as you said, coin makers are dictating new hardware.  This is an incredible phenomenon if it can be sustained.   And as I've said earlier in some other threads, the coin is as valuable as it's use and so far the usability is growing.

Very interesting times

If they need help to pay for the development perhaps they should do a kickstarter campaign to help pay for costs...
