1  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Valentine's Day affect BTC? on: February 07, 2018, 05:46:36 AM
I'm really curious if market pump celebrations affect BTC and how?❤❤❤

I'm sure it will affect a little, but not to a point that you should worry though. We can see some effects in the bitcoin market during holidays and it's quite normal and it will always bounce back right after.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did you stick to the HOLD philosophy on: February 07, 2018, 01:46:54 AM
I just wanted to gauge what people did and why.

If you had BTC from October 2017 or earlier, maybe 1 maybe 100 and some with more I'm sure.

Did you sell in December? With the insane rise in price which was due for a correction how many people sold at or near peak and maybe set aside some for a correction to buy back in the Dip.

I ask because with the opportunity to cash out for FIAT which still makes the world go around it seems like selling at 20 000+ (CAD) makes sense. I hear a lot of people who say HOLD and hoard essentially, and to each their own; but I find myself wondering at what point do you sell if that is your philosophy.

Maybe you didn't sell; maybe you sold a few or dumped it all.

I myself didn't have much; I had amassed a small amount that I was portioning off to HOLD, but what I was holding was instantly sold at the peak or used to buy equipment mostly because I had a feeling that it was going to be worth about 50% in the near future. The price stayed higher for longer than I though but it also fell lower than I thought. I might have been completely wrong it may have continued to rise but in the end I was happy with the decision I made. I can always mine more...well some (damn difficulty lol)

That is why I think that the notion of "HODLing for as long as you can" is greatly flawed irl. I always find it quite funny when people are saying "Hold and believe in bitcoin" or "hodl hodl hodl!" because, for me, doing so is very unrealistic. The main point of investing is to get profit. And by profit, meaning you have to cash out your bitcoins to Fiat to have real value because if not they will just be codes. I don't suppose you want to hold your bitcoins for the rest of your life until you die right? You have to take chances because that's how it works in reality.
3  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is the main reason for Bitcoin Price down? Will it stay for a long time? on: February 07, 2018, 01:15:55 AM
Lots of people are feeling very sick for bitcoin's price down. 2 Days ago, one of my known brothers texted me that he almost went for a heart attack! Because he invested all of his money on bitcoin and altcoins.Actually, I am feeling tensed too.
So, what do you think, What is the main reason for Bitcoin Price down? Will it stay for a long time?

I guess there are a lot of factors in play that is affecting the value of bitcoin at the moment. FUD's, the issue in China, facebook banning crypto ads, or maybe market manipulation just to name a few. We can never really pinpoint the exact reason.
4  Other / Off-topic / Re: Dream house and financial freedom on: February 05, 2018, 08:24:20 AM
My dream was to buy my own house and financialy stable. As i try to adopt bitcoin in my life he help me a lot specialy in financial. I starter to buy some things that i want and now i was dreaming that i can buy my own house from bitcoin. How about you what is you dream from bitcoin?

I'd love to own my own house and become financially stable too. But sadly, it can't be done at present because reality hurts you right in the gut. We can't just assume that if we adopt bitcoin in our lives, we are already on the path of financial success. Even more so at this moment if you consider the value of bitcoin, which is for me, very expensive. Unless, you were one of the pioneers of bitcoin that hoarded significant amounts, then consider yourself rich.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: As long as gold exists, now so will Bitcoin on: February 05, 2018, 05:09:27 AM
As long as Bitcoin can be shown to be a hedge against gold, there will always be people who buy it.

People buy gold to hedge against equities and bonds. Gold owners have obviously started buying Bitcoin too to hedge against gold, for what it's worth. Just have a look at the graphs showing the outflow from gold into bitcoin during the media frenzy in December.

The sort of people who buy gold for investment purposes are the ones who will also buy bitcoin simply to balance their portfolio just a little bit more. They don't get emotional about it and will simply split their portfolio like this, for example:

60% equities
30% bonds
6% gold
3% cryptocurrency

The correct statement should be "As long as there are people who use/buy bitcoin, it will continue to exist". Regardless of using bitcoin as a hedge to other forms of investments, ultimately, the users themselves determine it's continued existence.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ways to promote Bitcoin on: February 01, 2018, 07:42:28 AM
if you have the benefits from bitcoin? you can promote bitcoin in many ways.

-By explaining bitcoin to others, spread the word about bitcoin and take note you must learn more about bitcoin to do this.
-If you have skills in blogging, design, video and photo editing, web design, etc. Create something different out of your skills to promote bitcoin.
-If you have business establishment try to experiment to accept bitcoin currency.

if you have any idea how to promote bitcoins just share here.

In addition to the above mentioned ways, I think the most prominent and fast or the most used way of promoting bitcoin nowadays is through Social Media outlets like Facebook(but i heard they have banned ads about crypto),  Twitter, Instagram, etc...   This is especially true at the present since almost everyone is into social media.
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who are the richest people in Bitcoin? on: January 31, 2018, 09:34:39 AM
- The Winklevoss Brothers talked about owning about 1% of all bitcoins.
- Roger Ver AKA "The Bitcoin Jesus" owns a lot.
- And of course Satoshi Nakamoto is reported to own around 1,000,000 BTC.

I believe that these people are just the notable ones. For all we know, there might be somebody/someone out there still remaining anonymous who also holds huge amounts of bitcoins in their wallets. We can never really know.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Facebook Is Banning Ads for Bitcoin and ICOs on: January 31, 2018, 03:27:20 AM

https://www.coindesk.com/facebook-banning-advertisements-bitcoin-icos/

"Social media giant Facebook has unveiled a new policy that bans advertisements involving bitcoin and initial coin offerings, among others..."

An interestingly good move from facebook i suppose. Limiting ICOs from taking advantage of doing advertisements to a wider range of people. Too many ICOs popping out of nowhere every year, that you would have a hard time discerning the legit ones from scams.

10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it wise to hold Bitcoin for a long time or sell to meet a need of life? on: January 30, 2018, 03:31:33 AM
I understand the whole tactic of holding bitcoins for long term profits. But the whole point of investing is to gain profits and use them for your own benefit, much more during in times of need or emergencies. If you find yourself in a situation where there is an emergency and your hesitant to cash out some btc's because you still believe that its value will go higher, then the whole point of you investing is somewhat gone/changed. The notion of "holding for as long as you can" is very unrealistic, because you can't do that in real life. At some point in life, we're gonna have to cash out btc's for us to use them or do you expect to "hold" these until you die?
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How are your governments reacting to Bitcoin? on: January 29, 2018, 07:03:24 AM
Hello! From where I came from, The Philippines, Bitcoin is also not illegal. Even our national bank has recognized the revolutionary potential of Crytocurrencies. However, they are also equally aware of the risks associated by cryptocurrencies. So our national bank issues warning advisory when involving yourself with crypto. see link below.

12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is Virtual Money? on: January 29, 2018, 03:39:11 AM
About virtual currency, there are 03 different understandings:

Money is unmanageable, no physical shape and is used in electronic environments, it is called virtual money.
The type is not real value, not guaranteed by cash, gold, and valuable assets.
The money is usually used to pay for games in electronic games, each type of game has a different currency and they can not be used to exchange for each other or to bring out the electronic environment to buy. Other service products are.

The concept of virtual money is born, widely used and most often by the third interpretation itself. With this kind of money, the balance can be managed and easily changed by the issuer without affecting the financial or market economy.

I feel like virtual money is significantly different from crypto currency. Mainly, crypto is usually anoymous and decentralized.

Virtual money, for me, refers to just any form of payments that's done online. I think venmo and PayPal are modes of operating virtual money, so as you can tell, in my definitions, it's pretty clear what the differences are.

In this sense, virtual money has been around for a while, and crypto currency is just a piece of that virtual money pie.

I would have to agree with you on your definition of a virtual money and how it is distinctly different from Cryptocurrency. I believe that people have used the Virtual money system way back during the inception of Online payments/transactions system.  Cryptocurrency, on the otherhand, is just as you said; a part of this Virtual Money System with the added decentralized/anonymous feature.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do many people who don't know bitcoin denigrate and attack bitcoin? on: January 26, 2018, 05:54:07 AM
Why do many people have the courage to denigrate and attack bitcoin if they don't even know its fundamentals and blockchain knowledge? Humans have been looking for solutions to the credit problem for thousands of years, until today's national credit currency, but now a solution that combines the internet with decades of cryptography and so on, and some people don't recognize it, and go around denigrating and attacking bitcoin, these acts seem shameful and stupid to me,I do not know about you how do you think?

It's simple. People are driven by GREED and FEAR. The ones who are in charge or managing the current system of how money works can't seem to quell their thirst for it. And when they realize that there are certain things that can threaten the system, they fear that it will cause the system(in which they benefited from) to crumble down.
14  Economy / Speculation / Re: What should we do now? on: January 23, 2018, 07:26:26 AM
Bitcoin falls around $10,300. Is it alarming?

This will only hold true if you have a considerable amount of bitcoin on you that you had bought before this price dip. But I believe this is just a correction from last year's considerable pumping. Bitcoin value right now has been stable at 10k-11k range. I think it won't be long for bitcoins value pump again.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: There is any free of charge currency? on: January 22, 2018, 06:45:01 AM
Hi All,

This is my first time when I'm here, after one of my friend recommended me the forum.

Do you know if there is any way to receive free of charge concurrency?

Thank you for your help.

If by "Free of Charge" you mean you just receive coins for free, then AIRDROPS is a game for you. If you just search around this forum, you can actually find a lot of airdrop offers. But mind you, these things are just a waste of time IMO. Don't expect to get a considerable amount on airdrops because these things don't give much.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ban New altcoins on: January 22, 2018, 06:20:24 AM
I think its time to ban new altcoins from coming in, there should be a limit on how many altcoins there should be per year
so that people can actually profit from investing in altcoin.

I'd have to agree with this idea. So many altcoins are popping out of nowhere every year and the risk of being able to join crappy ones are quite high. I know that the whole point of crypto is not being regulated by a certain entity, but the amount of altcoins is too damn high that you won't be able to tell legit ones from scam ones.
17  Other / Off-topic / Re: What age to teach kids about crypto? on: January 22, 2018, 02:23:14 AM
Hi everyone,

When is a good age to teach kids about crypto?  Any suggestions on how to go about it?  thanks Smiley

I'm not sure when is the right time to teach kids about crypto. For all we know, cryptocurrency is quite a complicated topic/subject. Even adults sometimes have a hard time grasping it completely. Well, for a start, why not try teaching kids about money and the importance of it in everyday life. Specifically about spending and saving. This could help them in the future.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If everyone starts using electronic money on: January 22, 2018, 01:40:28 AM
If everyone starts using electronic money, infrastructure will also need to be developed proportionately. It will not take too much time for paper money to disappear from the market. At the present time, it is not yet clear whether financial institutions can adapt to that change in a timely manner.

"It will not take much time for paper money to disappear from the market...", this statement is quite presumptuous. We need to understand that it is very difficult to change a system that has been around for a long period of time and has been accepted by the majority. I'm not saying it's impossible to do such a thing, but i can only see such a thing to happen in the far future.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin decline has ended? on: January 19, 2018, 09:04:44 AM
Many people may regret it. But now it seems. The continuous decline of these days is over? What happens to bitcoin next?

For the nth time, nobody can really tell what will happen to Bitcoin or the whole crypto in general because the world of crypto is a volatile place. The only thing predictable about it is its unpredictability, which is keeping it alive.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If your friends and loved ones let you sell your bitcoin? on: January 19, 2018, 08:28:23 AM
My friend advised me to sell my coin today. I know he is for my sake, but how to explain to him?

I will not give you an advise because that will only make you think about it even more of whether you should do it or shouldn't. The answer your seeking can only be  given by you yourself. Just ask yourself. What is it that you want to do with your bitcoin?
