Was Bitcoin Created by This International Drug Dealer? Maybe!

Quote
THE MESSAGES STARTED arriving on a Sunday afternoon in mid-May. “Just wanted to draw your attention to this,” one began. “Rumors are starting to surface,” another informed me. “I’d be very interested in getting your thoughts,” a third suggested. My correspondents, mostly strangers, were polite but insistent. They wanted my take on a theory, newly circulating online, that offered a resolution to one of the most alluring digital mysteries of the past decade, the real identity (or identities) behind the persona of Satoshi Nakamoto.

I am convinced that one day we will know the identity of the person or persons.

Bitcoin’s newest trading product offers direct exposure to its volatility, and BlockTower Capital is the first to dive in

Quote
Bitcoin’s volatility has long been thought of as one of the major factors that keep big money managers from investing, but a new esoteric financial product could help traders hedge against the cryptocurrency’s price swings.

Hong Kong-based trading firm GSR revealed to The Block that the first trade of its bitcoin variance swap has been executed with cryptocurrency hedge fund BlockTower Capital — the latest development in the booming derivatives market for digital currencies.

Steven Mnuchin, Treasury Nominee, Failed to Disclose $100 Million in Assets

Quote
WASHINGTON — Steven T. Mnuchin, President-elect Donald J. Trump’s pick to be Treasury secretary, failed to disclose nearly $100 million of his assets on Senate Finance Committee disclosure documents and forgot to mention his role as a director of an investment fund located in a tax haven, an omission that Democrats said made him unfit to serve in one of the government’s most important positions.

The revelation came hours before Mr. Mnuchin, a former Goldman Sachs banker, began testifying on Thursday before the Senate Finance Committee, which has historically been bipartisan in its demands for transparency from nominees. Mr. Mnuchin was ready to outline his vision for the economy and defend himself against claims that he headed a bank that ran a “foreclosure machine” during the financial crisis.

JP Morgan Admits Dollar's Doomed Reserve Status to Unwittingly Cheer Bitcoin

Quote
The US dollar is at risk of losing its status as the world’s dominant currency. That’s according to one strategist at JP Morgan’s private bank who is advising wealthy clients cut their dollar holdings in half.

“We believe the dollar could lose its status as the world’s dominant currency (which could see it depreciate over the medium term).”

Crypto Loans Firm Left Thousands of Users’ Financial Data Exposed

Quote
Cryptocurrency loans platform YouHodler left millions of records containing private financial data from thousands of users exposed online, researchers found.

In a blog post, vpnMentor said its research team, led by Noam Rotem and Ran Locar, discovered a database leak as part of their web-mapping project and traced it back to YouHodler.

The data, they found, exposed comes to more then 86 million records that includes users’ names, email addresses, home addresses, phone numbers and birthdays. It gets worse. Credit card numbers, CVV numbers, bank details and crypto wallet addresses were also exposed in the data.

“The implications of this breach are extensive,” said the firm.

Pantera Capital CEO Expects Bitcoin Price to Reach $356,000 by 2022

Quote
Morehead's comments about the price of Bitcoin were brought on when he was asked by Shin where we currently are in the development of blockchain technology.

Morehead said that people should realize that we are only 10 years into a two-decade long project, and that for the people who use Bitcoin as a "proxy" for the crypto space, they should note that if we zoom out a bit and look at the price chart for Bitcoin over a period that is longer than year, the Bitcoin price is always going up. AT his own firm, Morehead pointed out that they do not worry about short term fluctuations in the price of Bitcoin and they have more of a 3-5 year timeframe in mind.

You don’t need to be an head of a multi billion hedge fund to understand that.

I start anyway to believe that next halving is crucial.
I don’t know if it’s priced in or not (my gut feeling tells me it’s not), but if price don’t move seriously upward as PlanB suggests, maybe even lagging SF model for up to one year after May 2020, then we could have a proper test of bitcoin value proposition as an experiment of Store of Value/digital gold.
All the institutional money that is supposedly flowing into Bitcoin is surely looking into that.

I believe in bitcoin, but it's not a religious approach, it's not faith based on dogmas. It's a rational expectation of the market pricing correctly all the feature of the protocol.

I mean, that Bitcoin will take the path that it pleases, as always, in 2017, at the end of November, the BTC price was +/- 10,000 in mid-December was ATH in just 15 days.

The articles are interesting to take the pulse of the market from different angles.

This does not mean that I agree with them.

But, yes, I recognize that I am more BTCull than bear. Wink
