never use more than 3 sata / molex from same strand of PSU then problem sorted, cause when you use 4 and ambient go hot +25° psu connector can fire.

the saftey problems with sata are because people are idiots and plug 4 gpu's onto 1 sata strand... these same idiots were doing it just fine with molex but that was boarderline firehazard, the only reason why there wasnt a big deal with it is because molex has thicker cables. Do not plug in more then 2 gpus per sata strand coming from ur PSU. Problem solved.Don't have enough strands from psu? Start converting some of the other strands, Molex -> sata, PCIE -> sata... etc Also don't forget these gpus were ment to be powered by the mobo. You can power TWO gpus safely from the mobo using UNPOWERED risers just fine! Then just have the rest using the regular powered ones. |

- Which coins should one mine ?
- Should one build a rig / miner on his own, or get one custom made, or get one of the ready to use miners like Antminer ?
- Should one host the rig / miner at one's own place, or in a colocation facility ?
- If a colocation, should one look for a colocation around where one is, or any specific country ?
if your doing colo make sure it near you, most datacenter not accept custom machine like this without custom cabinet. you need be there in person to explain the machines innards to their technicians for their own safety. also only do colo if high density machine, 8+ gpu rigs to combat the hosting cost. |

Check your equipment, I have the r9 380 and get with each 23.5 Mhash. Check -ethi , SET options in your configuration file. Remember, in the help file the parameters are from 2 GB video card I say that when properly configured miner video card, the VA will not lose in the speed of hashing. I had a year and a half ago 23.5 Mches much the same I get today. What brand & settings are you using on the 380? I have a few of those in one of my rigs and I've never gotten numbers like that out of them. prediction was accurate 2% loss here |
