201  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BFGminer high cpu usage. on: November 09, 2015, 05:20:16 AM

Thanks for the suggestions.

check to see what else is running.  Done this.

use system monitor.  Done this.  Just BFGminer using cpu cycles.

once in a while i would do a restart and i would end up having two bfgMiners running this was casuing too much cpu.

so check to see that. Not this either, but have encountered this in the past.

The problem does seem to "scale" with the number of units I have connected.  One or two units is no problem.  Now with 16 units cpu usage hovers around 60%.

BFGminer also shows this behavior on my beaglebone black running Minera.

Even tried CGminer.  All of the units show up and hash but at about 25% of their normal rate.  This seems to be a bug in firmware 1.4.5.  My other units

with older firmware don't do this.  They have 1.4.2 and 1.4.3 and work great with CGminer.  This behavior also is present on the beaglebone.

I seem to remember an issue like this when I had about 100 block erupters and tried to use BFGminer.  Hmm.

Just to recap on my situation:

-This is a "dedicated to coin mining" computer.  No firewall/antivirus/other programs running/or even updates.  Has a modern CPU/motherboard.

-I also have a beaglebone running Minera 0.6.1 and when I connect all of the monarchs to it and run BFGminer, cpu usage is also very high.

-I can't use CGminer with these units due to performance.  Suspect it is a problem with the firmware they have.  Don't know if anyone else has had this problem.

-Just for info, I have tried different hubs and had the exact same outcome.  Currently using a Block erupter 49 port.
202  Bitcoin / Mining support / BFGminer high cpu usage. on: November 09, 2015, 12:49:07 AM
Anyone had any problems with BFGminer and high cpu usage in Windows 7 X64.  I am only using monarchs.  Seems like the more cards I add, the higher the

usage.  The system has a modern Intel cpu and is dedicated to coin mining, 16 monarchs connected using Bfgminer 5.3.0.

Thanks!
203  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BFGMiner 5.4.0: GBT+Stratum, RPC, Mac/Linux/Win64, Antminer S1-S5, Alchemist on: November 07, 2015, 03:53:03 AM
Hi all.  I am having very high cpu usage with BFGminer 5.3.0 under windows 7 X64.  The gear I am hosting on this system consists of 16 monarch's.

Mining speeds for the frequency and voltage I have specified are good, but cpu usage is around 50-60%. Host system is a modern Intel based platform setup

for coin mining and nothing else.

Thanks!
204  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Thoughts on using AM Tubes for heating this winter, any info about undervolting? on: November 06, 2015, 05:32:14 AM
Voltage control on these means pencil modding, or changing resistors, or adding pots.  Can't be done in software.  At least not one that I know of.

I have one that does 300gh@300w.  The BE200 seems to be linear at 1w/GH.

The tube I modded bottomed out at 0.75V.  Below this too many chips where turned off.  Had to change each regulator individually, 8 per board. Tongue

Can vouch here.  I have bought quite a few miners from this member.  All was top notch.  Most of the monarchs I have gotten have from him have been

later units that hash well over 700GH.
206  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Bitcoin/USD exchange rate going up. Anyone turning old gear back on? on: November 04, 2015, 04:55:10 AM
I have some (alot) of 1w/Gh gear.  High power bills be damned, I am turning it back on!  Going to be a really warm winter.

Anybody else doing this?  At this rate, I might even dust off my underclocked singles. Cheesy

Don't worry about Tekcoin.  Prices of alts always drop when BTC goes up.

Contact OgNasty.  He told me he has an S4+ for sale.

Curious, has anyone updated cgminer on their SP20E to another version besides 4.7.0 that's in the 2.6.14 firmware?

Interested in this as well.  Installed 2.6.4 on an sp31, no change to cgminer.
210  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Hacking BFL Monarchs and servicing them while times are weird. on: October 29, 2015, 03:38:13 PM
Does anyone have access to the firmware or AVR project files for these?  Would love to make some changes to the firmware.

just to confirm,

if I encrypt and lock my wallet it will not stake?

so, I lock it, wait for it to sync then, unlock it to let it stake?

(Something happened in the past, and it staked on the wrong chain or something, so I lost a stake cycle, don't remember now why I was thinking)

That is correct.  The newest wallet even has an "unlock to stake" option.

taking unsync'd wallet offline so it doesn't stake while unsynced

I remember reading that somewhere ... I just noticed my wallet has been offline for 2 weeks.  How do I take the staking offline, until is sync's back?  (that's what I should do, right?)

Just lock your wallet.  This way it won't sync until you unlock it for POS.

I find it odd how you are asking for ancient dinosaur equipment and you want it to be in brand new condition.

I think OP is trying to start a bitcoin mining museum or something. Wink

He might want to find a Nintendo (NES).  I saw on time where someone had modified one to hash at like 1hps. Cheesy
216  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] Monarchs, working or not working. on: September 30, 2015, 03:26:47 AM
I have approx. 30 units that work that I could sell to  you very cheap and if you prefer not working/broken,  I can accommodate on that too.  Whatever it takes to make the deal right for you.

Pm sent.

How many are you interested in?  Would you want bulk, like say 50 of them?

Nah, not that many.  Maybe 4-5 units.

I have some of these with original packaging.
