21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Install drivers for GPUS's: AMD RX580 and NVidia 1060 ! on: February 13, 2018, 07:32:11 PM
if after boot you get a black screen, it's most likely a problem with your xorg.conf file (did you install nvidia x server?)
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining Rig on: February 13, 2018, 07:30:44 PM
You want to hit the pedal really hard Smiley

You could probably spare a little on some pieces of hardware like CPU (celeron is enough), RAM (16Gb is not necessary for mining), SSD 64Gb should be enough, risers take some chinese ones.
Why did you chose the 1080Ti ? It's a serious investment while there may be more profitable choices. With that amount of money, you could buy when cryptocurrency are at the lowest level and sell back a couple of days / weeks later.
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1060 discussion thread on: February 12, 2018, 08:07:12 AM
Seems good.
My electricity is expensI've, so same cards latest settings are on 65 watts, 150 core 350 mem gets me around 255 sols. Big factor is temperature too. Mine is 48-50c.
If I drop temp to 45 I get small boost in sols but I hate the noise of fans so settled for 50c and 55% fans.
I do eth sometimes , it's about 18.5 mh but crappy hynix.

what do you mine with your hynix cards? Zcash?
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best Mining pool for Ethereum on: February 09, 2018, 05:39:00 PM
I tried many of them but ended up with Nanopool, that's where I could get the best return.
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1060 getting only 15 MH/s on Ethereum?!? on: February 09, 2018, 05:36:06 PM
RandomJon: I bought 3 of them last year, all hynix. I had more luck with EVGA, MSI and Zotac.
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1060 discussion thread on: February 09, 2018, 05:54:12 AM
ethminer under ubuntu 16.04
13 GPU GTX 1060

When pushed:
Memory +1200-1600 (depends on gpu brand)
Core clock -200
Fan speed 50-53%
Power limit 75W
Temps between 45 and 55°C
With this I get a comfortable 24Mh/s

When not pushed
Memory +500
Core clock +0
Fan speed 50%
Power limit 65-75W
Temps between 45 and 55°C
With this I get a round 22MH/s

Why the difference? The first configuration crashes one every 2-3 days while the other one can keep running for ever. So depending on how often I'm home, I take one or the other.
I also would like to presever my hardware as much as possible so no need to push too hard, i'm there for the long term.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CUDA error 11-cannot write buffer for DAG on: February 07, 2018, 09:54:30 PM
mining ETH with 3Gb is still possible and will still be possible for a while but you should not mine multiple coins at the same time, it will affect the hash rate of all coins. 6Gb cards are more suited for this.
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [GTX 1060 3GB] All new cards with hynix? on: February 07, 2018, 09:51:57 PM
Just bought from cdiscount website the single fan 3g, waiting delivery from france.
will keep u posted! price is cheaper thou.. 239EUR.

Got 3 from rueducommerce at 170€, I was lucky because those product were not supposed to be published (it was mentionned in the title) but got them home Smiley
Same cards are now close to 300€
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: how long have your video cards lived mining 24/7? on: February 07, 2018, 09:50:33 PM
Could you please say what is a low temparature?

0 is pretty low.

:-) Negative is even better but that's called a fridge, not a GPU Smiley
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: how long have your video cards lived mining 24/7? on: February 07, 2018, 07:10:22 PM
I have been mining for 7 months with Nvidia cards, no issues encountered. I keep the temp around 50°, mild overclocking.
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASUS B250 Mining Expert MB - 19 Cards! on: February 07, 2018, 06:28:06 AM
13 nvidia gtx 1060 6g is ok(fill in zone A, and zone B), zone A PSU 1350W, Zone B PSU 850W,virtual mem 80GB.
But add 14th gtx 1060 will show err....still wait ASUS to support it.

I contacted asus for this topic before buying, they told me it's a limitation per model. If you have those specific mining cards it should not be a problem to go above 13 but if you have regular consumer cards, they say it's not going to work for some obscure reason.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can I overclock if temp is constant??? on: February 04, 2018, 10:11:54 AM
Temperature and power use aren't the only limiting factors when overclocking.

There are also safe limits for core and memory clocks, for every unit. Off the top of my head, excessive memory clocking can lead to artifacting (I've seen some users with Samsung memory get close to +600-650 stable OC, but check with your own hardware), which is a sign that you are pushing your card too hard.

Whether or not is something you should check experimentally, although there are some trends with certain algorithms. For example, with equihash, I haven't noticed gains between +100 and +300 mem on my 1060s and 1080tis, but people have had mixed results.

in my early days of mining, I pushed my cards with +1800Mhz on memory (under Ubuntu), after a week one started failing at start. I plugged it into my windows desktop to see what what happening and like you said, display was full artifacts. It was still under warranty so I had it replaced, now I stay around +500Mhz which is probably much safer for the long term.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Nvidia on: February 04, 2018, 10:04:15 AM
I don't see mining having ANY effect on their roadmap as such.
Support for efforts to create mining-specific cards from their existing GPUs, sure - but the mining market is to VARIABLE to plan a roadmap around for a GPU company.

maybe not on their roadmap but it will inevitably have an impact on their pricing, when offer and demand are distorted like it is today, it will have an impact on pricing. If they do as if there was no difference for them (which might be the case), prices are likely to go up fast and stocks go down.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Nvidia on: February 02, 2018, 11:28:02 PM
what I'm wondering is how much the mining hype has influenced their roadmap. If they indeed plan to release new models, the whole price & demand ratio is out of proportion. Will they release something based on their initial plan or will it follow the same inflation but from the start? If they want to make gamers happy, they should release cards at a normal price but if those cards are good at mining, it will spin out of control again.
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASUS B250 Mining Expert MB - 19 Cards! on: February 02, 2018, 11:23:56 PM
Will ETH os run 18 or 19 nvidia cards on Asus B250 mining expert? Very little information available online.

from what i read here, it all depends on the type of gpus you are using.
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1060 getting only 15 MH/s on Ethereum?!? on: February 01, 2018, 09:51:14 PM
bought some asus GPUs some time ago, they were all hynix. I got more luck with EVGA, Zotac and MSI (got Samsung on all of them)
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASUS B250 Mining Expert MB - 19 Cards! on: January 31, 2018, 07:23:40 PM
Thanks for the info. I guess you are using AMD cards with those extenders? I read that Nvidia cards do not support extenders or am I wrong?
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What's the best GPU for me to buy? on: January 31, 2018, 11:41:46 AM
why not 3 GTX 1060 3GB ? Consumption would be below 300W (mines are between 65 and 75W at 100% load). It's still possible to get some for around 200€. Of course you need to be lucky with memory, Samsung is better. I bought 3 zotac models 3 weeks ago, got them for 170€ and all Samsung memory.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASUS B250 Mining Expert MB - 19 Cards! on: January 31, 2018, 11:37:17 AM
I am glad I cancelled my order and go with the Asus 270a ,13 gpu support faster boot and more mh/s

out of curiosity, how do you plug 13 GPU in this motherboard? It has only 3 PCIe slots, no?
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASUS B250 Mining Expert MB - 19 Cards! on: January 31, 2018, 05:43:17 AM

Won't work, the limit is BIOS/CPU related from the looks of it, basically anything over 13 regular cards will not post properly on this board.

If that's the case then there is no point buying this mb, I'm better off my Asrock mb Sad
