181  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: January 15, 2018, 05:38:48 PM
New batch of S9s https://twitter.com/BITMAINtech/status/952929164230737920

Releasing new batch of Antminer S9 at 11AM tomorrow (16 Jan, GMT+8) here: https://goo.gl/HRJJrM
Can't make it? We will release the same batch at 5PM (16 Jan, GMT+8) here: https://goo.gl/UYMoX2
Order while the batch lasts!
USD wire transfers and BCH payments accepted.

10pm tonight and 4am tomorrow EST I think - unless you have to adjust for daylight savings
to be honest...... with all these S9 releasing, and difficulty rising.... I think S11 are already up and running in Bitmain's farms....
that's why we are seeing so many S9 coming out

Yeah, but what happens if the current FUD that China might ban mining happens. All of these miners there will be switched off, and while they are moved, the rest will mine in immense profitability. So why do we (outside China)  miss the chance. It is a risk, so mining turns out to be risky too.
Also Bitmain officially declared partnership with Switzerland, so these guys are definitely up to something outside China.

I haven't received any notification for S9, but Bitmain just tweeted that they are releasing L3+ if anyone is interested.
Here is the tweet:

Releasing new batch of Antminer L3+ at 11AM tomorrow (16 Jan, GMT+8)

Going to try and switch on some mining today or tomorrow for this and I'll let you guys how it went.
Windows environment.

Finally, the 28 Dec batch arrived to me (Europe). It was 3 months minus 10 days from purchase.
Surprisingly the marketed 12.5 - 13 th/s batch actually drives at 14 th/s with temperature below 80 C for now.

Anyone heard any rumors, tweets about a new batch opening? Telegram bot is so silent recently Smiley
which pool r u using

Hey, I just switched them on. But after some careful investigation and research, at the moment I cant find any better alternative to Kano and Slush pools. So I plan to split them in each to see how it would go.

Guys, can someone give a logical reason for the Ethereum Classic rise these days? Is this related to the Emerald wallet updates? Or just some whales playing around?

What's the temperature tolerance of the s9. Mine goes around 95-103 C, is it normal?

You are on the danger side. Below 80C is OK, around 100 and above is overheating.
How do you keep them? Do you have any exhaust system? Do you cool them? Also what is the hash rate with this temp?
188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: January 12, 2018, 12:13:47 PM
I am a strong supporter of Litecoin. And currently it can be explained very simple why Litecoin is still worth (and will be worth).
You want to do a transaction now:

1. Ethereum - I don't think so, network has been clogged since crypto kitties and so, and even now it is not stable
2. Bitcoin - transaction fees are a killer, even the Bitcoin conference itself stopped Bitcoin transactions Smiley

So it is simple, at least I use only LTC for transactions for the time being. It is widely accepted almost everywhere, so it is not a problem to exchange it for the coin of choice after the transaction is done.
189  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: January 11, 2018, 04:08:39 PM
You should be lucky guys to get your mid Jan miners now, I assume you are in the US?
Mine we from december 20 onwards batch and I just got the notice that they are released from Customs and ready to be taken home (location = Europe)

was taxed  about 39 usd on 1 unit

Wow, really? I got 20% customs duties, so this means 300 USD for each Antminer S9 and 30 USD for each PSU.
Plus around 50 USD taxes from DHL to deliver them

Thats why sadly, brown is the best option at this time. It cost more in initial shipping, but import taxes are WAY lower.

I so miss the days of fedex dropping the package for $40 shipping and no customs fees or bullshit. Big brother on em guys. They watching this shit like a hawk!

If you didn't notice, to even receive a $1500 or higher customs package through UPS, you will/may be asked to give personal data to the customs official before they release the package. Also, once you do, they won't stop future packages again, but this means they now can track every one from that point on. Totally sucks. They know whos buying and keeping list, trust me.

 Scrap'

Hey, do you mean that by choosing the more expensive option with UPS - you got lower fees and better service? It was actually a small hell on Earth dealing with DHL guys here. Also, don't you guys have 20% customs duties for everything shipped from outside the US?

Compared to 20% hell yea. $47.91 is all I pay on top of original shipping cost with UPS (per miner). $0 for psu's.

Scrap'

Well... I guess this is one of the perks to live in the US. Greeting from Europe, where we pay 20% VAT/Customs duties for everything that comes from the US or Asia Smiley

I'm thinking of a new platform that is NEO
ether too slow chimp as bitcoin. Wink

I'd like to see NEO try to process the number of transactions Ethereum is right now. Hint: it couldn't.

I don't care neo or another.

If ethereum network stays like this, some blockchain will take its place at one point. They need to act faster than this.

I totally agree. Still up to this day, I can't believe how the price of Ethereum spiked so much, provided there are so many network tasks to do (or issues to solve). And it is the second most stable crypto at all. Even Vitalik in one of his statements said that he can't take anymore the constant price speculations.

193  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150+ PH] SlushPool (slushpool.com); World's First Mining Pool on: January 11, 2018, 12:11:51 PM
Slushpool mines like antpool sad!

Sad! I have transactions that need verifying!

503,136   antPool     12.50000000 BTC
503,135   antPool     12.50000000 BTC

Yes, no transactions paid out to miners...completely stupid to mine there.

Hey, is this for real? I assume this is something new, as only antpool used to take the money from transactions. I was just planning to switch to Slush and if they do the same it will be very sad Sad

195  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: January 10, 2018, 01:46:14 PM
Charlie Lee is planning a soft fork of Litecoin.

Source: his personal twitter account:
https://twitter.com/SatoshiLite

Brief: Lee’s solution is to have miners place the lowest fee included in a mined block in that block’s header. A soft-forking upgrade to Litecoin would ensure that miners do not include transactions with fees lower than the minimum signaled in the block header.
196  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: January 10, 2018, 11:47:03 AM
So annoying.. Missed out on the sale by few minutes. Guys, are we able to change shipping details at later stage if there are some changes to the delivery recipient, location etc?

Really hopeful that there will be another chance like this again these days. When are these going to be delivered? March?

You used to be able to change the shipping address but I read recently that they don't allow it anymore, the shipping address you enter when you order is locked in. I may be wrong though.

Anyway, if you don't have the Telegram app on your phone, someone on these forums made a bot that check the Bitmain site every few seconds to alert you when they go in stock. That's the only reason I knew about this most recent batch, they didn't even announce it on Twitter or anything.

how does this app let u know?

It checks the Bitmain website for changes every few seconds and alerts you when they have something in stock and when it runs out of stock.

I just subscribed to the telegram channel to get the benefits of that bitmain notification bot. Currently as all S9's are sold out, the only way you can get what is available (only PSU are) is by manually ping the bot (I guess this is normal).
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: January 09, 2018, 03:57:55 PM

And what would this piece of news be like?
198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: January 09, 2018, 01:45:46 PM
ETH prices rose 4.95% in the last 24 hours, bringing the Ethereum to USD exchange rate to $1,213.84. Other cryptos, from Bitcoin to TRON, fell during the same time period. Perhaps this is due to investors are blaming China’s imminent ban on Bitcoin mining as the source of pessimism. If it is true, Ethereum could benefit enormously from Bitcoin’s woes. It is not as heavily exposed to a Chinese mining ban, plus it is not coming off an overextended rally like Bitcoin. As a result, it could attract a lot of the capital bleeding out of BTC.

I think that people are currently selling whatever they have, that's why prices fall. Why? Because now everyone talks about the bubble and every other one gives examples of this DOGE (even citing the founder) which skyrocketed with huge market cap based on.... nothing. It was supposed to be a meme coin. So now everyone is afraid of the bubble and sells like crazy.
199  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: January 09, 2018, 12:27:28 PM
Yes, they accept payments by bank transfer for this batch (L3+ & S9)

Quote
BCH(Bitcoin Cash) and USD wire payment methods are accepted in this batch

Wow, USD wires finally, can't believe. Has anyone tried?
Actually how do they process the purchase at all? It takes days for a wire to arrive to China and the S9s are sold out in a matter of minutes. Or maybe once you wire the money, they want a screenshot from the bank statement or something?
