121  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: USB Bitcoin Miner? on: August 01, 2013, 08:50:22 AM
You CAN get ROI, It's just going to take OVER A YEAR to get it. It's nice to get one for a fun hobby if you don't expect a fast ROI. If you want a 6 month ROI I don't know of any existing products that provide that outside of BFL ASICS, and Good luck getting one of those any time soon.
122  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Uses for Block Erupter sticks after they're worthless for mining on: July 31, 2013, 05:51:18 PM
I'm pretty sure they could be reused for vanitygen like someone said, but that doesn't take much effort to do. I don't think it will ever get to that point unless you live in an area where electricity is high and your mining on a PC.
123  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which USB hub to use with Block Erupters or K1? A List. on: July 31, 2013, 04:18:44 AM
I gotta agree, while USB PCI cards can be had for dirt cheap. it's much easier to cool a USB hub and relocate it. Also another factor is motherboards only have 1-2 PCI/PCIeX1 slots free.
124  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: easyminer from BFL on: July 30, 2013, 11:36:04 PM
I can't install it on my tablet from the Google play store..Ugh. I gotta find another way to get the APK, Does this support Block Erupters is the question?
125  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN]Group Buy#8 ASICMINER Erupter USB Miner 0.45 BTC Or Less USA/INTERNATIONAL on: July 28, 2013, 01:41:38 AM
Yeah, just had to clear something up. Should have PM'd sooner. I can't wait! Now I can surprise my Mom and give her a miner for her B-day next month.

127  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN]Group Buy#8 ASICMINER Erupter USB Miner 0.45 BTC Or Less USA/INTERNATIONAL on: July 27, 2013, 11:51:52 PM
Add 4 Miners for me, kinda sucks I couldn't wait to get a ASIC last week or so. You still have my Address on file SSB?
Man, these things are so cheap now! About on par with K1's pricing now. I'm still gunna order a few K1's myself tho whenever they show up.
128  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How to build a miner with chips? on: July 27, 2013, 11:14:38 AM
You would need someone to manufacture a PCB based on a circuit board for said plan or you could buy a pre-made one, Then you would need a stencil and some solder paste AND then comes the hard part of installing the parts with tweezers AND THEN you have to mount the chips which is not easy to do by hand but IS doable...

If you still don't get my point by now, This is not a easy thing to do by hand and would just recommend you buy a pre-built miner.

129  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGminer v3.3.1 on Broadcom based DD-WRT / OpenWRT on: July 26, 2013, 06:40:47 PM
Well I got DD-WRT and I'm pretty sure mostly EVERYTHING is running smooth with 3.1.1(rolled back for compatibility sake) problem is my router (RT-16) does not show that any serial device is plugged in when I plug in the BE. Nothing shows up in /dev/usb/tts. This one last hurdle and I'll be happily mining away I think.

This is what shows up when I check dmesg too.
Code:
hub 1-2:1.0: USB hub found
hub 1-2:1.0: 4 ports detected
usb 1-2.1: new full speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 6
usb 1-2.1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
130  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Bicknellski K1 Nano USA group buy interest on: July 25, 2013, 06:36:45 PM
50$ I'm so in for that, it was way to high before. At that price it's very competitive to other DIY'ers. The only issue I have is that it pretty much REQUIRES people from the US to use Group buys with the insane shipping costs for less then 8-10 units. I'll be keeping an eye and may buy 1-3 units in the next week or so.

Is there a way to install BFGminer via Tomato Optware?
132  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: bad Block Erupter? on: July 21, 2013, 10:05:55 AM
I just got a BE myself yesterday, all this talk about overheating as me wondering. Is it safe to run a BE without airflow over a extended amount of time? (over an hour) I'm wondering because this damned desk fan I bought(I'll replace it sooner or later I think) is pretty damned loud at night and was wondering if it's safe to it off during the night.
133  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGminer v3.3.1 on Broadcom based DD-WRT / OpenWRT on: July 20, 2013, 09:37:19 PM
Nope, nogo. Also would using Optware for Tomato be a problem?
134  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGminer v3.3.1 on Broadcom based DD-WRT / OpenWRT on: July 20, 2013, 08:48:06 PM
Yeah, S45serialmodules and ftdi_sio.ko is missing from the 3.3.1 file. Just grabbed it from the 3.2.0 file just now. Let's see if this will work. Might wanna fix that.
135  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGminer v3.3.1 on Broadcom based DD-WRT / OpenWRT on: July 20, 2013, 08:39:32 AM
I already got that far, via telnet. I'm just not sure what to edit in the scripts to get Icarus working properly. When it means to uncomment the DEVS line does that mean I remove the # in the code? Where can i find the serial script file it says to copy? Trying to get this semi-ready as my BE shows up later today. I wish the instructions we're a bit more clearer.
136  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGminer v3.3.1 on Broadcom based DD-WRT / OpenWRT on: July 20, 2013, 05:37:06 AM
Well I got as far as installing Optware on my RT-N16, Now I'm utterly confused on how to progress on Windows 7(copying files to Ext2 and such..) I wish the readme was formatted to be easier to understand for newbies to linux.
