Well, this thread died.  Guess TH made off with all our money.  Does anyone have any updates regarding law suits again them.  I know bar was organizing something.

Bar is terrahash - just another pretend account to make you guys stall

Nope, incorrect.

You all be be the judge - look back at all the posts where he is constantly sings their praises and aggressively defends them whenever anybody says a bad word against them - oh that's right now the shit has hit the fan he deleted them all - all is forgiven!

You sir are full of shit!

Internet Sleuth, your skills of deduction are astonishing... well except for the fact that you are completely wrong. But don't let that get in your way, carry on being incorrect.

Actually, I shook Mr. Phinnaeus Gage's hand at the recent Atlanta Conference, I don't believe he got the impression that I was "Terrahash" but hey what do I know I'm no Internet sleuth like yourself.

Damn, I wish I could put a face with you or recall what our conversation pertained to. Either way, I don't have a horse in this race, but am taken aback by this unfortunate event.

I came over and shook your hand for that hilarious comment during the conference about some new bitcoin hardware that hasn't come out yet. Come to think of it, I'm sure a lot of people did the same, it was during the reception next to the KnC Jupiter miner.

Was it next to the Bitcoin Magazine table just before Austin and Beccy's talk? I remember Charles and maybe it was Adam shaking my hand after the last panel.

It was after that at the reception (after we toasted Austin and Beccy I believe) You were probably talking to Luke_Jr or Bitcoinorama (Guy in the KnC Shirt). Either way it's not important.

Not sure why I even respond to the crazy accusations being thrown around in this thread.

Hosting Update:

0.95 FW update on my hosted units worked and they all seem to be hashing between 450-550GH.

1 out of the 11 is dead or unresponsive

1 might be having issues with going down randomly but I'm monitoring this one.

9 out of 11 going strong so far.

Did 0.95 fix anyone else that had KnC Hosting/datacenter issues?

I think every one here realises what an awesome job you two are doing, and people cannot possibly be unaware of the how this project has unfolded timeline-wise compared to, let's just say, "some other notable examples". If they are, then their opinions probably aren't worth worrying about too much.

Personally I am blown away by how well this has gone.  Grin

Thanks Merlin.

Here's a little teaser, hopefully it's a bit of a consolation.

there is a "sweetspot....   find it.

Good post explaining this a little.

AND, why some ppls hosted rigs have been pointed to provide KNCs wallet with coins?Huh

The default address for hosted rigs is a wallet owned by KnC.

If you did not provide a wallet, it would have defaulted to this.

If the machine did a hardreset (I believe) as one of mine did, it defaults back to their wallet.

Nothing is wrong with this other than there is no warning on this hardreset so you do have to keep track of your miners. It's easy enough to change the address in the KnC Mining Portal.

@KNC: Communicating with your customers is key in times of trouble!!

Come on, how hard can it be to post a news item every day on your website with a status update ?
It's not nice to receive bad news, but WAY WAY WAY better than no news at all.

Just got off the phone with Keith from KnC,

He said they have teams at the datacenter trying to resolve the hosted problems.

That's all the information he has currently.

I'll update as soon as my units seem to be hashing correctly.

I finally got my 2 miners online via hosting.

Jupiter 1 = 172 Gh/s
Jupiter 2 = 12 Gh/s

(past hour)

kill me

 Huh
891  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 10, 2013, 12:59:46 PM
The fact that he has one unit actually achieving over 500GH is what is throwing me off and making it hard for me to think it's a data center problem.  It is entirely possible that there are 10's of other customers happily hashing away not participating in the forum.  Without being able to see the error logs, or SSH into the unit I really can't do anything to troubleshoot (other than change pools, which I have done).

The machine may have been powered on or rebooted just before taking that reading, or maybe its located in a other room or rack.
Whatever the cause, 10 out of 11 (or 11 out of 12 if we include your unit) is not an isolated incident.

That was my post on the KnC Forum,

http://eligius.st/~wizkid057/newstats/userstats.php/1FscNBYzd5CqDzUVQ9YapLQNtLbswkM4NL

I had it running for a while on there and didn't touch it until the 12:00 mark.

As you can see it's not looking good.

I've moved them to BTCGuild for now (Just for testing purposes) and it appears 1 of my jupiters is completely dead as well. (Thankfully this was the one that was only pulling around 82GH)

I have emails and phone calls into KnC and they are looking into it. When I get more information I'll let you guys know.

Sorry if I missed it,

but what if we still wanted to keep our shares as US Citizens? How would we be collecting dividends and potentially sell our shares later?

You need someone verified to do that for you.

From what I understand

Quote
Users will be able to withdraw holdings and Bitcoins from their BitFunder accounts before and after November 1, 2013.

This means I don't have to get rid of my shares but it wasn't clear if Dividends can still be paid for them (If not then I agree with you, someone verified would have to hold them)
If Dividends can still be paid, I can still withdraw bitcoins from bitfunder and would rather just leave the shares in there.
893  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] IceDrill.ASIC IPO (500 Thash Mining Operation powered by HashFast) on: October 09, 2013, 08:59:25 PM
Hi All

Although we received no forewarning, the recent news about BitFunder/WeExChange did not come as a big surprise to us. The current regulatory landscape in the US requires these steps to be taken and we applaud Ukyo for implementing them before they become so problematic that it would force a site-wide closure for all.

It seems like most of the BitFunder markets took a pretty hard hit in terms of share price yesterday, no doubt from a big sell-off across the board. This was probably to be expected as regulatory uncertainty is a big factor in the bitcoin space at the moment.

As it stands US persons/entities have to essentially clear their asset positions before 1 November 2013, just over 3 weeks from now.

To this end we would like to propose the following offer:

Shares for hardware
As stated, each IceDrill.ASIC share represents 10Mh/s at the start of the mine becoming operational. What we would like to propose is a shares for hardware swap. So, instead of selling their shares into the open market (to clear their positions) investors instead take possession of the hardware itself. For this trade, these shares would be handed back to us and then simply destroyed.

The Good:
You can clear your IceDrill.ASIC BitFunder position without selling all your shares for cheaper than they are worth.

The Bad:
Scaling down the mine in this way would affect our future reinvestment capacity downward from the start. We currently have no way to gauge how much this would shrink the mine by, but the amount of shares transferred and destroyed in this way will be completely transparent and announced after the deadline.

"Taking possession" of the hardware itself can take two forms:
1. We instruct Hashfast to ship your units to you instead of to us (effectively a re-sale). In this case the shareholder/customer pays for any fees, customs and shipping costs that might occur.
2. DigiMex hosts the machines on your behalf (a re-sale with a hosting agreement).

The hardware for share swap is calculated as follows:
1200 000 Mh (one Sierra unit) / 10 Mh (per share) = 120 000 shares per Sierra unit.

Please note this proposal will necessarily have an execution deadline of midnight 15 October (UTC) in order to ensure ample notice for delivery re-routing, as required.

Sorry if I missed it,

but what if we still wanted to keep our shares as US Citizens? How would we be collecting dividends and potentially sell our shares later?

They look exactly the same as any other QFP44 chip, and there must be a million of those.

Fair enough, however didn't Labcoin say because of this packaging they had huge issues with their chips? Somehow magically BTCGarden doesn't?

You have many variants of the package that have an influence on heat dissipation. But of course much more important is the power draw. BTCgarden claims 1.5 - 3.75W per chip. Labcoin's paper chip was calculated to draw 12.8W.

Makes sense, Thanks for the information.

Can also confirm that I've received my 5BTC compensation.

Very interesting, hashing what looks like 1btc/hr more or less to re compensate people who havent received their hosting setup yet. LOL, this is so fucked up.

EDIT: Looks as if plasmoke edited his post and took KNC's bitcoin address out. Here it is anyway:

https://blockchain.info/address/1D5FhoiuLMJJ43BCMGidwvbKWfr71g1vH9

So KnC say they will not mine with customer's hardware, and will hash with up to 5% of their sold hashrate

I would guesstimate about 38TH on that block finding rate, so they may have sold 760TH of preorders.

This is an address I was paid from and it didn't look like compensation to me. It looks like what a full day of hashing would be as a payout. We'll know soon enough I suppose.

Update: It actually seems to have been compensation for 3 Miners.
899  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 09, 2013, 11:53:56 AM
Holy fuck! How the hell could somebody know you were going to receive the miners? Any clue on which was the attack vector? We should rule out that is somebody inside UPS Sweden who knows what's going on and giving the heads up to others..

I was wondering the same. Another possibility is that someone hacked KnC's server.

And the only thing they wanted were a couple Jupiters in France!

...

Anyways...

Received a bit of BTC from the "KnC Hosting Address" that is supposedly running my 11 Jupiters. The payout looks like they have been running for about a day if this is indeed from Hosting.

No email received as well. Once email has been received I will update.

Thanks!

Ok thanks under stand

Standard cooling for CPU is ok?

Quote
Recommended Cooler #1 – LGA1155 based
Coolermaster Hyper212 Evo
The Hyper 212 Evo is a good cooler to use this with Chili, although the included mounting hardware does make it a little difficult to use. I would recommend using these spacers instead of the supplied ones
http://www.mcmaster.com/#95947a310/=oridfb
and screw them in with some M3x10mm screws
http://www.mcmaster.com/#92005a120/=oribhm

Recommended Cooler #2 – GPU based Arctic Cooling Mono Plus
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7983391&CatId=99
This one is a little simpler to apply as a GPU die is about the same height off the motherboard as the Chili ASICs. It’s nice because it comes with a bunch of little heatsinks you can use on the VRMs if you want, too. I still recommend a backplate, similar to what you would use for a GPU.
http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/spare-parts/536/eva-foam-und-gpu-back-plate.html#
Also, I would assume you’re going to be mounting them vertically if you’re doing this, so you’ll probably want to pick up a PCIe bracket.
