161  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin up 10% in 24hrs WHY? One word: RUSSIA on: December 22, 2014, 02:14:42 AM
Ruble is crashing and Russians are moving into Bitcoins driving the price up .. expect a new bull market for btc starting NOW

Oh.  Interesting.  Whats your explanation for the last 10 ten percent increases over the last three months?
You act as if this is a first.  It's been going between 320 and 450 repeatedly for the last several weeks.
Cracks me up how short sighted people are.

162  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is it just me or is there a change in perspective.. somethings not as it was. on: December 22, 2014, 02:09:02 AM
I dont even think we will see a real fear unless it goes below 250$. People are getting used to see low 300's.

But overall it seems that the days of the sharp movements are gone, for now.

Without Willy and Marcus there never would've been a sharp movement in the first place.

Look at your 2 year chart and draw a line from (for example) January 2012 to current.

A nice, smooth gradually increasing line to where we are today.  Cuts the whole "fake gox bot price pump" out, and you see how Bitcoin has slowly gone up $150-200.

I believe that's what we will continue to see, with a slightly greater incline angle when actual adoption begins.

Gradual overall increases of $200-400 per year for the next 10 years.

If actual adoption ever begins...

163  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can Bitcoin Rebound? on: December 22, 2014, 02:03:11 AM
Bitcoin will hit four digits again in the next 6 months or so. The technology is way undervalued at current levels.

To play devils advocate:   It aint going nowhere unless someone figures out a way to incentivize consumers to start buying it.

Undervalued or not, it will be dead in the water if nobody feels like using it.

164  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can Bitcoin Rebound? on: December 22, 2014, 01:55:35 AM
Rebound from what, even if 1 BTC = 1 USD Bitcoin still works and solves a problem.

Seriously bro you are not that naive are you? I should have self moderated this thread for stupidity like this!

He's right.

Here's the thing.  You, and everyone like you, need to stop looking at the market price of Bitcoin.  Do you realize that the whole "market" thing is just a bunch of speculators and hoarders playing a gambling / betting game?  It literally has NOTHING to do with what Bitcoin is.  Or does.  Bitcoin - the Protocol - the technology - the infrastructure - etc ... this is what Bitcoin is.  The market price is a bunch of enthusiasts playing and hoarding in hopes of future riches.  The bitcoin market is its own little world.  Off to the side.  "Over there" ----->

<---- While bitcoin is over here, doing its thing.

That's why its both relevant and intelligent to point out that Bitcoin could go to $1.00 and still be 100% transformative in the world.  Because NOTHING changes "out there" if Bitcoin drops to $1.00.  Bitcoin still solves a problem, provides myriads of services, and remains unaffected.  Market price is irrelevant.

$1.00 obviously wouldn't be the price if Bitcoin was starting to transform the world, but the point is simple: you shouldn't give a rats ass what the market price of Bitcoin is.  It has nothing to do with Bitcoin in the real world, until the real world starts using Bitcoin.  Then *organic* price will begin to rise.  Right now?  This $320 Bitcoin price is the Bitcoin community.  Hoarding and playing their arbitrage.  Whales playing their games.  etc.  Nobody else is using Bitcoin yet.  So for now, the market price is irrelevant. And everyone needs to stop talking about it.

165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's your coin count? on: December 20, 2014, 08:27:55 PM
Are you really expecting people to be honest on this thread?

Did you see that its anonymous?  Why wouldn't they?

The problem is the OP thinks "greater than 100 coins" differentiates early adopters from late?

How about some tiers like:

100 - 200
200 - 500
500 - 1000
1000+

168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mozilla removed BTC from Donation Form on: December 13, 2014, 02:15:53 AM
I just loaded up a new install of Firefox and the first screen I saw was the request for a donation.  I remembered this thread and yep - no bitcoin option.

I actually was going to donate to them because I think Chrome sucks donkey balls (crashes on me 4x a week for no reason and feels clunky as hell to me anyway).

I love Firefox.  Feels well-programmed.  Tight.  And elegant compared to goofy Chrome which reminds me of a tin can for some reason.  AM Radio ...

But instead I wrote them this email:

--------------------------------------------------------------

donate(at)mozilla(dot)org

Subject:  I was going to donate but...

You removed the Bitcoin option.  So now I can't donate.

I was about to donate $20.

I keep all my online payment funds in my Bitcoin wallet.  Its faster, safer, and easier.

Sorry.
------------------------------------------------------------

Feel free to email that email address and act like you were going to give them a million dollars, because you like making online payments with Bitcoin, but now you can't.

169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My jaw is still on the floor. on: December 12, 2014, 09:09:20 PM
Nick posted again today, (praising ethereum once again;) and I was reading and I noticed his use of the term "block chain" instead of "blockchain"

Satoshi never said blockchain. He calls the ledger block chain.  Shocked

2 years ago I decided to scan Satoshi's forum posts here just to see if there was anything anomalous about his writing style.  Anything that stood out to me.  The first thing I noticed was that he constantly hyphenates things.  He never misses a properly hyphenated phrase.  He *always* hyphenates things.  Word phrases 99% of people have no idea should be hyphenated, he hyphenates.  In fact I almost wondered if he was over-hyphenating.  Doing it randomly sometimes.  In any case .... take a look at Szabos writings .... cough ...

170  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reasons why you’ll end up using Bitcoin eventually on: December 12, 2014, 03:48:14 AM
I believe 2017 is when the supply of new coins begins to decrease a bit more.

And then 2024 (someone correct me) where it really starts to level off.

Everyone should just sit tight for another (sorry) 10 years ...

172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Price Jumps with Microsoft News. [image for sharing] on: December 12, 2014, 03:43:14 AM
Well it should have gone to the 1000s atleast lol, let's see how the value will manage after microsoft will start supporting btc project.

Unfortunately you need a Willie and a Marcus for that.

Everyone needs to get used to reality.  $1100 was not reality.

Gradual increases of the real, organic, base-value over time (maybe $100 per year? $500 on good a good year?) is going to be reality.

And I wouldn't expect much at all, until merchant adoption changes into consumer adoption.

173  Economy / Speculation / Re: What if Bitcoin just levels off? on: December 11, 2014, 04:04:05 AM
Stability?

Im not sure we realize what stability means when it comes to a currency.

The fluctuations Bitcoin has right now are still astronomical for "stability in a currency".

We are not in a "stable" place with Bitcoin.  Never have been, yet.

When Bitcoin no longer budges aside from a quarter-of-a-penny in US Dollar worth on a daily basis, then you have the stability needed for a "stable currency".

And when do you think that is going to become the reality?

174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is going mainstream on: December 09, 2014, 04:43:08 AM
When walmart accepts bitcoin, that is the the final hurdle, that is when it "goes" mainstream.

Correction:  When Walmart *shoppers* .... *use* ... Bitcoin, that is the final hurdle.  That is when it goes mainstream.

Hope you guys last longer than 10 episodes.   Bitcoin podcasts always come strong out of the gate and ultimately fizzle out.

only LTB has remained.
177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Related Pickup Lines on: December 02, 2014, 10:08:47 PM
This might sound ridiculous but Bitcoin is actually becoming a symbol of wealth in the Miami club scene.

At least those who have a large balance of them.

I've heard more than a few girls in "da club" say things like "So you're the Bitcoin guy eh?" to a few friends of mine .... while batting eyelashes....

True story.

The most famous Satoshi quote appears on the Genesis Block.  It conveys the true meaning of Bitcoin.

@rogerkver

Well he is no longer on the list so no point really... Unless he was never supposed to attend! /u/rogerkver ?

The /u/ doesnt work here as we are not on Reddit.
If he was on the list, how about tweeting him to ask if he ever actually planned to attend?
