41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: if XRP passes ETH... on: December 29, 2017, 06:18:20 PM
If=when, and the answer is... life goes on.

What's the point?
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How can i purchase Ripple XRP on: December 29, 2017, 06:16:11 PM
Wait a few days and you can buy them on CoinBase  Wink Grin

Do a Google search.  There are many ways to buy.  I would do it now though, because chances are the price will go up it it hits Coinbase.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple XRP is a complete fraud GET OUT! on: December 29, 2017, 06:13:34 PM
^ Yes, because the banks are interested in ponzi schemes.  I'm sure that would work out well for them.

You guys missed out the opportunity on investing Ripple while it's cheaper then you all have to accuse a coin that has nothing did wrong in your life. Come on guys, me matured and move on. If you can't get a long with the ride then don't talk shit because Ripple is now blowing and it's started to heat their engines for launch.
I invested Ripple while the price was 0.0023 last 3 months ago so I grabbed the opportunity while it's cheaper than today.
Whether I invested or not, I would never accuse any coin that has no intention but to offer opportunities and do their task in order to increase their market capital share.

I don't think their ire has anything to do with missing out.  They are part of the group that doesn't trust a centralized crypto.  They think, if it's centralized, it's a scam.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple will increase the Circulating Supply!! on: December 29, 2017, 06:09:48 PM
I'm sure they'll have a plan for how many to release so the price doesn't dump overnight.

That's beside the point. The point is that you and your potential Ripple investment solely depends on what they will do, as they can do anything. Or even the US government could force them.

Which is one of the problem Bitcoin and virtually every altcoin that followed solved; using a decentralized and trustless system.
Ripple is a centralized scam, See they are free to do whatever they want, Increasing the circulating supply, What would you do if someone increased bitcoin's circulating supply?
Seriously folks?  This is old news.  Ripple put 55B XRP into escrow with a plan to release 1B into circulation each month for the next 55 months.  Ripple has been very transparent about its plan and stuck to its word.  When it put the 55B into escrow, the price went up, because it added credibility to Ripple.  It allows investors to accurately predict supply.
Where did they get 55 billion? I'd bet that they generated 55 billion by few clicks Cheesy

Do your research, that 55B is part of the total cap, and the company disclosed the 55B was going into escrow long ago.

What would I do if BTC increased circulating supply?  Nothing.  I won't touch BTC.  I like to know about what I am spending my money on.  I have asked myself, who created bitcoin?  For what reason?  Why are they keeping their identity a secret?  There's a lot I don't know about bitcoin, and the creator(s) want it that way for a reason.  My assumption is that it wasn't created to generously make other people rich, create a global currency, etc.

After this realization I had to give up on Ripple completely, I sold my shares and am out of Ripple, I need a company that will go down with me and rise with me not one that rises no matter what while I fund them and I very likely may get screwed while they get successful. Open your eyes if you're investing in them.... you are investing in their XRP not Ripple as their employee quickly pointed out to me on twitter. Even regarding their block-chain technology big competitors are coming on the scene soon. The main point though is I need a company that will go down with me and rise with me not one that rises no matter what while I fund them and take all the risk. Why can a company I invest in be successful without me being successful as well, how is that even a possiblity!?! I'm out this is a complete scam and fraud it was obviously knowingly created that way.

DO NOT INVEST IN XRP

LOL - Regrets now?!?!

48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are people buying Ripple? on: December 29, 2017, 01:53:54 AM
  • it is explicitly (or at least formerly) not considered a currency
  • it is centralized (the company can freeze accounts if it wants, create more coins, or be sued)
  • it's major use case is for inter-bank transfers. So if Bank A and Bank B was to exchange currency x for y, they will use XRP in-between. But this gives no value to the currency itself, it is just used as an intermediary. Is it conceivable that Ripple the company will not have enough XRP for these internal bank transfers and they are going to have to buy them back from the public??

So it seems that XRP has no value outside its use by the company Ripple. Is anyone actually using it for commerce or any other reason? It is not considered a store of value like bitcoin (in any case one would want something decentralized.

I dont really know ripple is centralized.  If it is so, mean this is very big problem.
I actually have interest with ripple but if i know this before then i will switch to decentralized one.

If you didnt know, you should do more research before purchasing any crypto. You seem naive.
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple Officially Overtakes Bitcoin Cash, Surpasses $51 Billion Market Valuation on: December 29, 2017, 12:43:29 AM
Over the past 24 hours, Ripple has overtaken Bitcoin Cash to become the third largest cryptocurrency behind bitcoin and Ethereum, with a staggering $51 billion market valuation.
The people that use altcoins should just keep their money then put it in Bitcoin. Nobody really wants to use altcoins in the stores.

And most stores want to use real money. I still havent been in a store that accepts bitcoin or any other crypto.
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are people buying Ripple? on: December 29, 2017, 12:38:21 AM
There is one group that wants decentralization and a worldwide monetary system, which will not happen without one world govermnent. This group buys into the idea of bitcoin. As long as the banks and governments allow these cryptos, they have appeased this small group and the group keep isnt hurting anything.

There is another group that see cryptocurrency as a way to take advantage of the first groups efforts, and this group does so to make money. They dont care about decentralization. They see XRP and Ripple as a stable long term system to increase their investment. They believe that the banks have a vested interest in making Ripple work well. For a bank, using Ripple reduces transaction time, which makes that money available for other uses, including bearing interest. The reduced transaction costs save a lot of money for the bank. XRP allows governments to maintain their sovereign currency and gives the bank a medium for conversion. So governments and banks will opt for the Ripple or something similar. This, coupled with the belief that XRP will continue to increase in value makes it the coin of choice for this group.

I use a spreadsheet that auto updates with the current price on the exhange I would use to convert. I also calculate the capital gains tax that would be due if I cashed out.
52  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase has been accused of Insider trading on: December 23, 2017, 05:23:21 AM
Your title is falsely misleading. Coinbase halted trading and launched an investigation to determine if some of their employees were involved in insider trading.
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What source do you check to find rising coins? on: December 18, 2017, 07:44:29 PM
I research the technology behind the coin to see if it is legitimate and seems like it will have a legitimate future.  I don't believe anything I read here, since most of it is speculation and wishful thinking.  If my gut says it's a good idea, I do it.  So far I haven't lost.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple? on: December 14, 2017, 07:47:46 PM
i think Ripples is good investment as it doesn't fluctuate as much, can be good thing to use to pull down your gains from other currencies? like a safe house?

Ripple literally jumped over 100% today and then dropped 50% so not the best timing to say it doesn't fluctuate much  Grin generally I'd agree though. Anyone know of any particular news that caused this?

I have been wondering the same thing if there is any news linked to the jump or its just a case of the alt bull run carrying all boats....

In the last couple of weeks:
11/16: Amex & Santander partnered with Ripple
11/28: MIchael Arrington starting a $100,000,000 XRP hedge fund
12/7: Ripple follows through with May 2017 promise to put 55 billion XRP into a time-release escrow.
12/15 (tomorrow): Japan and South Koreak banks will begin testing same-day internation funds transfers on the Ripple network.  Testing is supposed to last through January 2018.
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XRP Price Difference on Different Exchanges on: December 14, 2017, 07:05:53 PM
These things happen occasionally, also with other currencies. A good oportunity to earn something through arbitrage.

My thoughts exactly.  Just curious why the gap is so big right now.

It is a decent thought but because they generally don't have crazy margins you need big capital to see some actual profit. That being said you also need to be verified on both exchanges so that you can cash out all you want right away. Lastly if the spreads are quite big usually they don't allow you to withdraw because they know exactly what will happen and put the wallet in maintenance mode. Make sure to check everything is correct before proceeding.

Thanks for the tips.

57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethurum or ripple on: December 14, 2017, 06:48:59 PM
I did both, thinking that ETH was short-term profits, XRP was long-term profits.  Made various purchases of both over last 39 days.  Result:
ETH = 83% gain.
XRP = 262% gain.
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / XRP Price Difference on Different Exchanges on: December 14, 2017, 06:23:09 PM
Does anyone know why the current price of XRP is so different depending on the exchange?

Gatehub is currently 0.53 USD
Bitstamp is currently 0.77699 USD

Usually they are within 0.01 USD.  Why such a huge disparity now?
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dumbest thing you did in Crypto as a noob on: December 13, 2017, 05:26:29 PM
Dumest thing I did... nothing.  I literally did nothing when my instincts told me I should have bought BTC.

I have always had a knack for identifying things that have good potential for profit, and until recently I never did anything.  I have always said I would use $1,000 to invest in something.  I read an article about BTC in 2013, when it was under $100 each.  My gut told me to buy, my logic told me not to.  I didn't.  The result... I don't have $170,000 that I could have had.

Something similar happened a couple of years earlier on a stock that I was interested in.  In a matter of one year my $1,000 would have been worth $10,000.

I started doing some P2P lending about 8 months ago, which is earning 14%.  I started in crypto a little over a month ago, and my gains currently sit at 90%.  Should have done it a long time ago.  I'm in crypto for the long-term now.

If Ripple is trying to keep price low, could it be until the R3 suit is settled?
