61  Economy / Auctions / Re: WTS 50 Direct ASICMINER shares. 48 Hour Auction. on: June 28, 2013, 06:42:44 AM
All payments and escrow accounts are being funded. I will send friedcat the transfer email in a few hours. Winners will be notified via PM of all progress. If you have paid escrow/directly, you are all set and expect dividends incoming this week!

I am on the road for the next 15 hours but I will update specific questions as needed and give a final confirmation check once Wednesday's dividends have arrived.

Regards,
PS

Hi guys, noob question: Where do I find what time exactly there will be the next IPO at btct.co?

I see the securities being reviewed and waiting for approval, but can't find the exact time of their IPO.

Thanks

You can't tell in advance.

They can't sell until they get approval and that happens if/when they get 5 YES vote from moderators.

After that the Issuer can start selling whenever they want - most just put up sales right away (which is actually a bad move if they only have limited shares to sell - but most have no idea how to maximise their IPO revenue).  Think furknap was going to give some notice on his (once approved) - which is far better than selling right away (I only gave a short period of notice on DMS - but there's unlimited supply at a fixed price on that so no benefit to anyone in adding a delay).

just wondering are there physical certificates available for these issues,,,thanks
63  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Community Exchange w/ Options, DRIP, 2FA, API, CSV, etc. on: June 28, 2013, 05:34:28 AM
If the moderators dont approve AMC by tomorrow, then btctc will surely miss out on alot of business

That's the thing; LTC-G moderators have no incentive to vote. They get paid in any case from listing fees which are charged no matter whether they do the job they get paid to do :-/

Why would they care? Whether this gets approved now or at some point in the future is irrelevant to them. If it booms, great, they get paid a percentage of the share price anyway. If it doesn't, well, they still get paid the listing fees.

Only asset issuers bears any risk of listing. Moderators can just say 'meh!' and come back sometime in the future. In fact, if they don't do anything at all, they may even get paid listing fees twice.

would you like to be the person who gets the bad one out of a 100 and have to send it back to him only to be told he has none left?
using the darn thing for 5 minutes is doing people a HUGE favor.

eleuthria has proven he is trust worthy 1000 times over around here.

They will be mined on for more than 5 minutes.  I would *prefer* to give each unit a full day of mining, including a few power cycles, but given the volume of chips coming in and likely going out, that won't be possible outside the first batch since they don't ship out until Monday.  But as you said:  It's a lot better they get mined on now, instead of being dead on arrival.  ASICMINER's warranty is only 6 months, and shipping isn't free to send your broken unit back or to receive a new one.

You must have a serious amount of usb ports handy then!

I'll be posting some pictures later just so people can see them in action Smiley.  I'm really frustrated with the Windows side...but apparently most of my headache is due to cgminer, not Windows.  Going to test the next batch using bfgminer and try to cut a step out.

Right now the testing plan is:  Plug them in, register all the drivers on Windows, reboot the computer.  Start up cgminer, wait an hour so the BTC Guild dashboard has a chance to get a full hour worth of shares, and compare the speed to the expected speed.  Ideally, each hub (9 units + 1 fan) should be producing ~2.9-3 GH/s.  Since my first test wasn't quite as organized (was excited just to get them working), right now I've got 3 hubs on one worker and I'm hoping to see 8.8-9.1 GH/s after an hour worth of hashing.

67  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: June 28, 2013, 04:35:52 AM
It reminds me of Apple going up to $700 per share and then dropping back to $400. Which made people who sold at the top really happy as they can buy back lower.

AAPL is a bargain under $400 - EPS around 40 is healthy, but the kicker is the MASSIVE pile of cash they are sitting on. 140+ BILLIONS. With a B.
To put it in perspective, Google has around 50 Billions, and that's already considered massive.
The problem in finance (and in politics) is that too many focus on the group consensus, which usually has little to do with the actual details of the company being looked at. "Steve Jobs died!" & "Apple has lost its touch!" have led too many investors that were just going with the flow to jump ship.
Apple could buy all of Tesla right now, and it wouldn't dent its pocket. Let that Sink in - Tesla, even with the tripling of current share prices past few months - is worth (corrected) 12 Billions.

Now that was an extensive tangent and I apologize. But there is no doubt that we are in a similar type of boat right here with ASICMINER: Half of us have probably never invested in stocks before and are "going with the flow." Great learning experience rest assured. If rumors or hearsay keep scaring you away, then go rest in the shade. There is no doubt BFL has started shipping and others will soon too with better tech even, but AM has shown no sign of faltering and has been CRUSHING the network distribution on every scaling up. 20%+ and they appear to have blades waiting to scale further. They bet on maximizing older tech and won, and I'm sure this has something to do with their decision of not going into 28nm chips. Currently you can see that they've stepped out of the sheer mining game, and are moving more into retail by selling equipment. Even better with the headstart they have. Sure, they had to slash price and it appears they were pressured in doing so. But this will be a learning experience for next time - meanwhile I think the USB miners will sell ok, maybe would have been better to reduce the price to .7 even. AM is grossly undervalued. A "Bubble" might appear with unsure investors doubting, but it doesn't really matter to the ones who look at numbers.

The things that worry me:
Tax status in China  - Will the government just blindly let this go on forever? I think not...
AM regulatory status as a company in China - Is AM remotely legal? Classified as a manufacturing plant? What could go wrong there?
scaleability vs. efficiency - friedcat has shown he could deliver. The scaleability is a problem of its own and one different from efficiency.
BTC itself - While we look at AM to keep busy, we forget to see the decline of BTC/USD happening - We need to promote Bitcoin and show the world it is a viable currency for all.
Risk - friedcat could disappear from one day to the next, and there's nothing you could do about it. (NB: Valid for all Exchange/PT holders)

So the discount we see in the share price likely takes some of these into account.

Warren Buffet said it best:
"To refer to a personal taste of mine, I'm going to buy hamburgers the rest of my life. When hamburgers go down in price, we sing the 'Hallelujah Chorus' in the Buffett household. When hamburgers go up in price, we weep. For most people, it's the same with everything in life they will be buying -- except stocks. When stocks go down and you can get more for your money, people don't like them anymore."

*edit*
TLDR - It might drop in value, but like Apple, value of the investment goes beyond surface.

Since I'm growing impatient waiting on my Avalon, BFL is still 9 months behind on pre-orders, and I've lost any desire to trust a new upstart with "pre order" ASICs, I'm starting to consider buying a batch of ASICMINER USB miners, and selling off the excess basically at cost to BTC Guild users in the US that don't want to commit to a full order (minimum is 50 units), and would rather not join in a group buy.

Just out of curiosity, are any of the US-based Guild miners interested?  Price would be 1.01 BTC per ASICMINER USB (~330 MH/s).  That's 0.99 [cost] + 0.02 shipping (possibly 0.03 shipping, but I'm pretty sure First Class USPS with Tracking would be under $2 unless they're heavier than they look).

I am extremely pleased that you are offering this. I will be F5-ing frantically to be one of the firsts to order. Hopefully not having my IP banned by CloudShare lol
My only concern is shipping to Canada. It's not exactly clear that Canadians can order in this first batch and that shipping fees will be the same as US.
Can you confirm this?

Thanks again for offering this and for all the work you do.

Unfortunately, only the US will be able to place orders on Friday.  I'm working very hard at finalizing plans on international shipping.  While Canada is significantly cheaper to ship to when using First Class Mail...it seems to fall under normal international rates when using Priority Mail.  First Class mail does NOT offer tracking internationally, and the same with Small Flat Rate international.  Only Medium Flat Rate or larger includes tracking, but the price to ship a Medium box international is ~$59.  This makes it quite prohibitive on small orders if you want tracking of the package.

The above CAN change, but at this time, I do not want to get anybody's hopes up outside of the US.

PM me i have a growing list of buyers and i'm heading up through Fresno to the Bay area...thanks

The first 100 usb miners have arrived.  I'm unboxing and setting them up on Windows tonight so I can have a proper guide available by the time they begin shipping Monday morning.  Windows is apparently much more of a pain to get working than Linux from what I've been hearing.  I'll be testing chips on Linux later this weekend to have a guide ready for Ubuntu users as well.

So far, 18 tested, 18 working.  Each chip is producing the expected speed (331-336 MH/s).  No duds.

like you must be busy "breaking in" the units ya i guess it's better to sell used stuff than brand new..thanks

73  Economy / Securities / Re: P/B ratio, or how to not get raped in the Bitcoin securities markets on: June 27, 2013, 06:28:18 PM

I know AM hash power is growing, and mine isn't. However, the future hashpower from AM has not been paid for. The 200TH priced at the same rate their previous power was priced will cost investors $2 million, or BTC20'000. Assuming AM percentage of the network at around 15% (which would mean network is 400TH and AM is 62TH) that is roughly 6 weeks of dividends from mining.

No, that has not happened yet, but it must for AM to get another 200TH of hashingpower. Even if they get their new chips for half the price of what friedcat has stated previously, we're looking at just under three weeks of no dividends at all to pay for it.

I know AM is selling hardware too, but since mining power is equal from one asset to another (assuming luck is equal) AM investors are paying 340% more for that future hardware sales than they are for mining.

In simpler terms, AM must sell hardware for 3,4 times more than they mine every month for their prices to be comparable to mine.

.b

EDIT: Corrected some decimal and thousand separator mistakes

You seem to be completely oblivious to the economics of semiconductor manufacturing.  And you are mixing the pricing of goods sold by ASICMINER with their shareholder's costs.

Let's ignore today's price to book because as EskimoBob rightly points out, there is less data than there should be.

Let's just compare IPO prices.

ASICMINER:  2
BFMINES   :  18
AMC         :  35  (sounds like 70 for Ken's next cash grab)
TAT.V       :  infinite

In order for a buyer to profit, the asset has to grow into their valuation.  Anyone buying your asset is starting from an 1800% deficit.

As I have said before, you offer a better deal than Kslaughter's ripoff, but that in no way makes your offering anything but a cash grab for yourself.

imo this appears to be the start of wild west cyber virtual capitalism...lol

Really what better is it to have shares at BTCT.co if it's a PT?
I mean if Bitfunder goes down or WeExchange go down, we are still f*cked when BTCT.co is buying shares from BitFunder as a PT.
Am I missing something here?

You're missing something. Direct shares can be moved to/from BTC-TC.

I heard the FTC developers are copying everybody else's ideas into FTC while the coin is still small and easy to make changes to.  I also heard FTC has a built in Ebay style market in it, it's more anonymous, and has the speed of LTC.
