This new arrangement means newbies,and jr members have to do a lot more interesting and eye catching activities on this forum to increase their membership ranking, while hero members upwards can be in a much more relaxed and laid back position regarding their activities and posts.

Merit points are awarded for good posts, not for valid reports to moderators.
The problem is non-existent as the reward is non-existent. You didn't understand how the system works.

This new system of things introduced to Bitcointalk is something I think has been long overdue and a sigh of relief will be breathe into this community.
There are users who just post garbage and spam in order to get activities, and I think the moderators do well by cracking down on them but the new merit system will ensure that the abuse of this forum will reduce and more important contents will be encouraged.
My personal opinion on merits.

I think Merit is good function that must be added a long time ago. It can prevent spam posts with no quality.
Every one must concern what they are posting and their posts must be constructive.
Because that recently many members just want to spam their posts.

To say the least, something of this nature was to come upon the community sooner or later. Increasing cryptocurrency awareness is bringing so many new users to this forum and everyone is heading up the hierarchy. Sadly enough the upper room isn't always enough for everyone on the pyramid and there has to be a way to slow down progressions. Merit is not just a sanitizer, but also a tranquilizer.

I believe its really fair if merits go to people as their activity level increases in the forum and i also think it can be used to help people to rank up as well. There are so many people who dont have merits but has a high activity level

I really have no problem with the new system, this encourages us to think more, and to participate more with other people in the forum and soon enough we will get our merits. I just hope that admins will at least decrease the number of merits needed to level up, I guess increments of 20 merits will be fine enough as long as there is only a limit of 1 merit you can receive for like a day or so. The merit system now is somewhat biased though as a person who has a lot of merits can give out 50 merits in one post rather than distributing it to others with such good posts as well, so I guess a limit of 1 merit per person per day would be fair enough. The receiver of the merit is only limited to receive 1 merit per person who merits his post so if he could get 100 persons who likes his post for that day then that is an instant 100 merits for him.
I dont think limit on merits per person per day is a good, appropriate choice. That should depends on the level of quality of each post and, of course, generosity of each merit senders. Let's everything work naturally, human will manage the merit system automatically. Its to get merit for this new system to rank up . |

Just like other people here in the community of crypto currency, I am looking forward into this project, The ETERNAL TRUST ( ETL) team is really making their full effort to make this project reach what they should to fulfill their ultimate goals. I think this new system is great because it filters out the obvious shitposters (and there's a lot of them).
As for myself, well if I'm getting stuck at this rank - then so be it. I'm here to gain information and to give information and it is perfectly possible to continue doing just that without needing to rank up. 😂

Very interesting idea and I hope the project will take place, sounds quite promising. Peer-to-Peer network without having to pay a fee to middlemen, thus, allowing them to avoid deceitful stock selling campaigns and invest directly by themselves on startups or businesses of their interest.

So much grateful for it. Thanks for being fair to all the members here who worked hard on making sure they rank up accordingly. Also, the Merit and new rank requirement is a good avenue for the whole forum community to have a better and healthy exchanging of ideas and not just sharing a blabber all around. This will surely empower the members to produce quality posts over time. This will also for sure encourage highly educated people to join the forum since they don't just see low-quality posts.

I was just thinking to myself, "but how will the initial distribution be handled under this coin?"... and then I suddenly realised the problem is already solved .
This, or similar such ideas, sound like a potential solution to the possible problems when bitcoin hits the zero block reward stage. To be exploring that area so early is an optimistic sign ..

This is the end of shit poster's, Lets adapt the new merit system, I know this is for our own good, Everybody in the forum are obligue to do it or else they will remain stagnant in their position, Actually i admit that i had a hard time to construct quality post but i realize if im not going to do it, How can i improve myself? its a way to express how a person thinks about a post.
Since its needed to lvl up, its not really usefull that Legendary members receive merrit. They only will receive more to give away.
Yes, getting to the next rank will be tuff.

If I had to name one thing I know more than most it’s fishing and the Commercial fishing industry.... This looks promising, especially with #hubbsinstitute having some play in this project. I’ll be watching this like a hawk and likely investing heavy. #Fishcoin

We will need to see how it works out in a few months to truly see if it is improving or making things worse, it is a welcome addition to the site as I was wondering a while ago what more could be done especially when you reach the top ranks there isn't anywhere else to rank up to, this obviously still remains the same but it is nice to have Merits which can change. 😇
