161  Economy / Economics / Re: Deflation on: January 28, 2018, 03:23:24 PM
We always hear about economies collapsing due to inflation. Can anyone give me one example of an economy collapsing due to deflation?

Sure, there are a few examples if you care to google a bit. One of the ones that are more studied is the Great Depression, not on why it happened (bubble + leverage buys) but also because the wrong monetary policy led to a deflation.

As you may know, deflation is due to scarcity of money and creates a preference for savings againts spending that depresses the economy.
162  Economy / Economics / Re: Can the Wall Street fat boys kill Bitcoin profits? on: January 28, 2018, 03:19:31 PM
I think Wall Street is only about how to make profit and if BTC can make a profit for them nothing will change even for small users.Last price decrease was an opportunity for everyone to buy low and sell high. Some say that price decrease may be related with first BTC futures expiration,so we will see when next futures is expire in January 29. whether it would have the effect on the price.

Personally I do not like that Wall Street is involved in anything regarding BTC,they have thrown the whole world to the knees in 2008 and destroyed millions of human destinys around the world.I hope that BTC is strong enough to survive even them.

I agree with you, it is quite dangerous and it is prone to create many problems for the regular Joe out there. I wish it did not happen, but it is there so we need to find adaptation and survival strategies. Hodling is not goin to get us out of the issue.

Any ideas?
163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin transaction fees.. on: January 28, 2018, 03:09:06 PM
Hi, Do you think is tehre any interest to reduce the transaction fees for bitcoin? Many alts are focusing on speed and low fees while bitcoin has made little effort.

Well segwit has already technically reduced the fee in half and there is a plan to implement the lightning network in the future so saying bitcoin hasn't made any progress in terms of solving this issue is totally wrong. You can use 30 to 50 sat/byte and use transaction accelerators to get fast confirmations. Also people need to stop associating bitcoin as a perfect solution. Think of bitcoin as the first computer, it wasn't fast but it was the first step towards the right direction.

Segwit is been taken in bitcoin to increase the block size and due to that number of confirmations will be increased so fees amount you afford for the each transaction will be reduced too.
However, if you use any desktop wallet means you will be able to change the transaction fees and I mean modifiedable and can reduce fees but I am sure that you transactions will be reach in some hours.

There is surely a way of trading-off speed and fees, not that I am a technical expert in how, but having to wait for a few hours does not seem competitive with Alts. I think Bitcoin is not competing with forks, but with other coins.
164  Other / Meta / Re: Why not limiting the Signature Campaigns and posts per week? on: January 27, 2018, 01:43:43 PM

For this, my proposal would be to limit the amount of postings required in any campaign to 1 a day or no more than 7 or 10 a week.

This has been already implemented. There was a time, where minimum required post count was 100 in order to get paid. It was one of the reason for spamming but by the time it was reduced to 20 to 25 post per week. It would not be feasible to the projects who runs these campaign to promote their project; if you further reduce the post counts to 10 per week then it will affect their promotion.

I am not going to say names, but there are two campaigns right now that ask for 50 and 100 posts minimun. 20 posts is three a day (roughly) I honestly doubt that many members here have three relevant and well thought things to say a day. Even two.
165  Other / Meta / Re: Why not limiting the Signature Campaigns and posts per week? on: January 27, 2018, 01:26:20 PM
Or just ban the signatures so that Bitcoiners can have Bitcoin Talk back to talk about Bitcoin.

Following that route would be unwise for several reasons, but I will just mention a couple:

- Campaigns done properly bring funds to the crypto community and support the value of Bitcoin since it is paired with alts in markets. The main use of bitcoin today is trading,  not "hodling".

- You would be ignoring the real trend in crypto (see the dominance graph). Do you notice that Bitcoin is no more than 36% of the total value?

But above all, you would be harming the value of this forum. Alts are no longer "alts", they are as relevant to the cryptocommunity as Bitcoin if not more and you may get rid of some spam yes, but you will also be loosing talent, new blood and new ideas. If you make the forum and "old boys club" that is what you will get, old boys taking about old topics and eventually becoming irrelevant.

166  Other / Meta / Why not limiting the Signature Campaigns and posts per week? on: January 27, 2018, 12:56:41 PM
IMHO and in many peoples opinion, many one of the main sources of spams are Signatures Campaigns. I am not in favour of suppressing these because they do provided finance and develop the world of cryptocurrencies.

I do participate on these campaigns because I can support a project that I like or think is good for the community and get a few tokens along the way, even if sometimes they are worth nothing   Roll Eyes

However, many of the campaigns set a minimum of posts that I have to make a week. Some of these ask for 20 posts a week, so I am faced with the dilemma of either having to say no to a campaign that I really like or having to post on low quality threads without much interest.

I know that many people here would say that I should not take the campaign,  but that is not a good solution as I do want to promote the projects I like.

For this, my proposal would be to limit the amount of postings required in any campaign to 1 a day or no more than 7 or 10 a week.

Any new campaign on the forum would have to follow this rule or risk not being accepted / be banned / muted.

167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ArcBlock has a support of a billionaire, the project will come far on: January 26, 2018, 03:59:30 PM
Today I know that billionaire Jean Chen is Marketing for ArcBlock so I think with his support the success soon. What do you think?

I think that your marketing still is interesting. Having the support of certain investor is not bad, but is not the criteria to choose a good investment. Large investors can afford lots of risk, I can't.
168  Economy / Economics / Re: Moment for buying or selling? on: January 26, 2018, 01:10:49 PM
People usually buy more when price drop and sells when the price go high.
So, if the price has gone higher than your budget and risk level, I suggest you wait.
Otherwise, you you buy hoping for it to continue upwards for a profit. Is all about
your budget, risk level, proper market analysis and luck too.

It does not get much obvious that this, look for a good technical opportunity to sell and then... buy again because this market is going to grow for sure and you cannot afford not to be here.
169  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoin and alts merchandising on: January 26, 2018, 01:08:14 PM
Why did no one suggest eBay?
Just type bitcoin shirts or whatever you have in mind, there's plenty of them Tongue

I was asking about the commercial rights also, I understand that I can buy merchandise in eBay of almost anything, I just wanted to be prim and proper... this time lol
170  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoin and alts merchandising on: January 26, 2018, 01:07:07 PM
Do you know if there is any shop out there that has Bitcoin merchandising or Alts stuff? I assume that many of the logos are registered brands, but not so sure about BTC.
Saw this Sticker Hat Modular Hat System HAT2.0! (Free Bitcoin Patch with order) offered by SaltySpitoon a global moderator. And regarding the brand logo of bitcoin read this https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bitcoin_logo.svg

Oh, how cool, so you can actually use it without restrictions even for commercial purposes. It is pity that such an incredibly powerful brand is there loose in the wild like that.
171  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: January 25, 2018, 01:30:41 AM
just look like I will never up level to Member  Sad

Oh well, just try to become full member not to mention hero. But donīt despair, read my post above. Depending on the issue rate for the "merit" you may  be able to eventually be a member in a reasonable time.
172  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: January 25, 2018, 01:28:40 AM
It seems that the merit curve is very steep. Basically, to go from member to full member you would need "90" merit. On the other hand, merit is quite expensive. For each "merit" created by the sources we can make a geometric series sum:

Sn= a1 (1-r^n)/(1-r)

with r= .5 and a1=1, results if summed to infinite in ... two. So, for 20 people to progress in one year from member to full member you would need to generate 1000 merit points on the sources (not counting other promotions, like to hero or Senior).

May I ask what is the generation rate that you are considering? If it is too tight this forum may become a private club for an elite as far as ranks.

I do agree that is good to have a system to curate the content, and this is not bad, depending on how it is regulated.
173  Economy / Economics / Re: Marketing eats technology for breakfast on: January 24, 2018, 12:31:45 PM
There are many examples of clearly inferior products taking the market and obliterating others that were technically better. I just can't help forgetting Microsoft agains McIntosh or even Cocal Cola which has been know to be rejected in blind tasting tests.

Do you think that it is also happening in the Crypto space with Bitcoin, alts and ICOs?

All i can say is in marketing, the competion is always there, so in order to appealing more customer or investor  you must find a good marketing strategy in order to sell your products.and that situation i thinks  never been  happen in crypto space between  bitcoin, altcoins ,and ICO because  these three will always together in the world of digital currency, when making a new platform exchanges  these three will working together,to become succesfull those trading or ICO campaign.

Yep, if you have a great product and want to sell it for the right price you need to build a stream of followers and dedicate time to promote it, otherwise it will go into oblivion.
174  Economy / Economics / Re: Can the Wall Street fat boys kill Bitcoin profits? on: January 24, 2018, 12:28:20 PM
I don't think so in any market especially in cryptocurrency their will always be whales who are the first movers of the trend. And some of this whales are from the wall street what we can do is to ride the trend they are creating as they are not the only ones who can benefit the price action of something. Yes some might be affected by the price change of Bitcoin but if you know how to trade then you won't be far out of them. Technical Analysis is what they are also doing they are just the ones who are making the move first.

That is more or less ok, if they invest first so be it. The problem with futures is that is makes it worth to purely manipulate the market and make profit from it.
175  Economy / Economics / Re: Can the Wall Street fat boys kill Bitcoin profits? on: January 24, 2018, 12:25:09 PM
I have read some posts and comments by senior members related on how the futures on Bitcoin are controlling the whole crypto-currencies market. Do you understand the effects? What your view?
Futures somehow contributed to the reason why bitcoim had a dip recently but those senior members are wrong when they said that it controls the whole cryptocurrency market. No one can gain total control ever crypto, even fat boys from wall street or even bill gates can't no matter how much money they spend. If they really did spend money in order to do that, crypto will only be controlled temporarily.

The thing is that volumes are relatively low and easy to manipulate and most of the alts seem to be too correlated with Bitcoin so is one ring to rule them all.
176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: You Hodling strategy on: January 23, 2018, 12:40:43 PM
I try to filter good projects and keep tokens up to a big height. If the project is unsuccessful, then I change to another

So you donīt care if it is one year or three, is just a question of the price. I think that you need to consider the time that it takes, because is not the same x2 profit in two months than x2 profit in one year if you know what I mean.
177  Other / Off-topic / Re: What Are Your Thoughts On Vegans? Or Going Vegan ? on: January 22, 2018, 10:27:10 AM
I am not vegan not vegetarian, but I do respect people who are. I have gone vegetarian during some periods of my life and enjoyed the experience.

179  Economy / Economics / Re: Becoming wealthy and social responsibility on: January 22, 2018, 10:23:58 AM
While I don't have many posts. I got involved in Bitcoin in 2013 and joined this forum in 2014. While I do not consider myself wealthy from Bitcoin yet. I do have an idea of how I would like to direct some of this new found wealth. I think most of the people who got involved early got involved for the right reasons. IE: To change the world and move humanity out of the control of the bankers. I am concerned that the new people coming may only be in to make money. I hope I am wrong, I really want this technology to be a force of good in the world and deliver economic freedom to the masses and the unbanked. My hope is everyone who was early, has some idea in mind that will help others. Maybe help your family, or a charity that you think isn't wasting money, or building a community swimming pool etc. If you have a lot of money think big and how you can change the world for the better. This is our chance!

It is a nice post and quite true. If you had the vision, knowledge or just plain luck, it is your turn to give back. It is not that you owe anything to anyone, is just a question of reaching a higher level of humanity.
