41  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The last Batch of AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner, Now $1760 per unit on: July 01, 2014, 08:49:24 PM
im scared to power on the orig PSU after the pop and spark, ill test it when i get home later

also, the 10th hash board when plugged in the S2 doesnt even turn on.. does that mean the hash board is fried?  the remaining 9 seem to work fine

Please do'nt use the psu if you hear a clear pop and saw a spark, this means probably that your psu is broken and the fuse burned! You can try powering it on again but be safe and know what you are doing. Please use your new psu if you are not familiar with electronics.

@ -droid-

Try removing all the hash blades from the S2miner, and only boot the miner with the main board and the original psu. Can you reset the miner using the button on the front and login to the default web interface (192.168.1.99) ?

p.s. the white glue / epoxy is normal in psu's and should not affect the workings of the psu.

Is there anyway to change the web interface password trough ssh? and how to change the default root/admin login for ssh?

Thanks,

65C is really hot, My S2 runs stable at 40 degrees with intake temperature of 32 degrees. I really think something is wrong with the temperature measurement or your fan settings. First thing to try is to reflash your mining software / firmware with the latest from bitmaintech.

Advanced (not recommended) tip: Set fan speed to 100% all the time to make sure the unit never gets to hot. You can do this by opening the unit and strip the blue or white cable from the fan cables leading to the mainboard. Only do this if you are familiar with electronics and computer equipment.

Are there any plans in the near future to start merge mining with Devcoin (DVC) and Inter eXchange Coin (IXC) just like Ghash?
46  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [12000 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+NMC, Stratum, VarDiff, Private Servers on: June 29, 2014, 10:07:55 PM
So basically by say, Feb if not sooner, pools will be obsolete and only private farms will turn a profit thus bringing the doom and gloom end to bitcoin.

Pools will not become obsolete as there are some many small miners who have a few miners running in their basements and they want to make a few bitcoins. These small miners cannot solo mine and depend on mining pools for their income. However I expect that the trend for 2014/2015 is that small miners will stop mining as the cost of energy will rise and only large (private) farms will be able to make a little profit. The increase in power consumption moves the miners from basements to professional datacenters and increase the complexity of mining bitcoins, thus resulting in less smaller miners.

I still have hope that the small miners remain and bitcoin become available for everyone to mine!

Good site, noticed that there is no user wallet to keep my btc. I need to pay manually.
i dont have access to my wallet anytime. So i perssonally need to keep btc on site, and spend them wherever i like.

You can create a new wallet, for example on blockchain.info or coinbase.com

is overclocking recomended- does the psu need to be replaced

Overclocking is "never" recommended, however it is possible for advance users and the conditions need to be right.

You should have a decent PSU (different from the default) to handle the extra power request and make sure the miner is placed in a cooled place as the chips can get much hotter. The fans will also make more noise as they spin up to handle the extra heat dispersion.

You can find the details of overclocking in the following thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=629997.0

I've just started renting out my rigs again, but not all renters fill their pool details correctly.

Can my rig(s) mine on my own pools (when betarigs show up in cgminer as "dead") in the time the renter fails to fill in their pool details or the renter his pool goes down?

Can't really blame Vod, BTCJam have a poor arbitration system, they don't really make the lender return the loan. Vod wanted warn everyone just in case you scam as this is rather high risk.

Exactly.  In this case, he took put 9 "reputation" loans climbing to 0.3btc.  Then suddenly two simultaneous loan requests for 9btc - a 30x increase.
https://btcjam.com/users/18891

Looks like a reputation scam to me, so I don't trust you.  I will remove the negative trust once you have made a couple payments on your two active loans.

I don't know. There's not much you can do unfortunately. Maybe he will reply eventually or he'll respond to this thread. How long ago did you message him and how many times?

I don't have the time or interest to reply to every PM I receive and if people PM multiple times I just block them.  Most of them offer no new information, simply saying "I'm not a scammer" or "I've never scammed anyone".  Same thing I read from everyone who eventually scams.  Every scammer has to have their first scam - if your actions fit the profile of a scammer, expect me not to trust you.

Hi Vod,

I can understand the suspicion, but i'll pay back everything correctly on time Smiley
I'll send you another pm on the 10th then (first payment is due to the 10th of the month)

letuslook please fuck off gently and make your own thread instead of jacking mine, thank you for your cooperation.

I'll leave this thread :-) thank you for your friendly words!

Hi Ranochigo,

I really can understand that and I totally agree that there is an risk with lending through btcjam. I invested myself some btc trough btcjam and lost them because a user didn't pay it back. However most of the funds invested in btcjam have been paid back on time Smiley

I think a trust system is really helpfull for a forum like this, however it should not be that i now have to deal with getting a "unmotivated and unfair" negative trust and have to do everything to remove it from my account. I will never, and really never scam people, it is just wrong and i would never like to lose my personal and business reputation over a scam (much much more to lose than you'll ever gain)!

Anyway, everyone thanks for the help and i'll wait it out

Thanks for your help!

Moderators won't get involved with issues with the trust system, so your only option is to try state your case and work it out with Vod.

Thank you for your reply, but what would be possible to do as Vod does not replies to my PM?

Hi Reav3R,

Thank you for your reply.

I'm not looking to create a new account and I really don't care who or what Vod is as this is irrelevant for my trust feedback. However I would like to speak to him so he can motivate his reason why he has given me a negative trust without any clear reasons. I havent got a reply from him since.. I'll contact a moderator on the forum if I don't hear anything from him in the upcoming days.

I really think the current trust system is not working correctly as you can accuse everyone for things that they are not (scammers) or have done. I hope a moderator can oversee this and help me out here.

Thanks anyway,

~ Luc
