61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: FutureBit Moonlander 2 USB Hubs Thread on: December 17, 2017, 07:13:00 PM
dude, you a correct.  wattage is too low.

What do you guys think of this one?

https://www.amazon.com/Sipolar-Desktop-Charging-Station-Charger/dp/B01K4MZQJ8/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1513537668&sr=1-1&keywords=sipolar+A-400

12V*10A, that is 120w right?  should easily run ~10 moonlander 2?  It says it can do up to 2.1A per port.  Seems like a good price for a hub that can handle 10.  Am I missing something(again)?

Fyi guys, this hub will definitely for four moonlanders.  It should be able to power four as well, just need to get my hands on a few more to test out the power.

Are you making an apples to oranges comparison maybe, focused on the amperage but not the voltage? That says the PS is 5V 4A, which is only 20W. Can't see that being anywhere near enough for 4 unless they are running at a very low frequency.

Not ASICs for Monero(yet) gpu mine it while you can.

Sorry to be a stick in the mud... but Monero REALLY should be mined with Asics or a Really powerfull GPU (like the AMD Vega) due to it's difficulty.

Hmm... I do not know of any ASICs that can mine XMR. AFAIK it can only currently be mined with GPUs and CPUs.

Ripple seems "fairly" stable.

There are not Monero ASICS, yet.  So GPU is your best bet.  Mine it, or buy it now before there are ASICS.

65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What Stats Should one Factor in When Choosing an Alt Coin to Mine? on: December 12, 2017, 01:37:38 PM
I think there are two factors really.
1) can you mine it profitably?
2) do you think it has a positive trajectory?  in which case, you can mine it for no profit.

Personally I think mining for a loss assuming something will go up is silly. You are just better off buying some with fiat at face value.

All that said, check out Monero, I think you can still mine with GPU and make some $$.  Possibly even CPU.

Monero is still good to mine, but you should really look at your power consumption on the pi vs the tiny hash rate you will be getting.

I'm running on old laptops and getting, 254h/s on one and 904h/s on the other.

Not sure how much power they consume, but using a pi is like trying to loose $$.  Unless maybe these are running at your desk at work.

the pi would be great for running a few stick miners.

I ordered this one.  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013EU7SJI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

it says 4 amps.  I figure if I use ports, 1, 2, 5, and 7 I can get 4 moonlanders on there, with enough overhead on the power(say .85A * 4 = 3.4A)'

From my PoV, the horizontal placing seems key, I don't need the fan from one unit blowing hot air from another one.  This way I can get "clean air"

Worst case I'm pretty confident it will fit 3.  I'll let you guys know when it arrives.

I just need a few more moonlanders to test the power output.... if anyone can help me out Wink

Hey guys, I got my moonlander running pretty nicely 832 clock speed, voltages tweaked, and error rate under 1%.

Question about the hashrate.  bfgminer reports ~4.8mh/s, but litecoinpool shows ~4.8kh.  thats a big difference, which one is correct?  Seems like someone misplaced a decimal.

Actually I think we should design our own diy USB hub.   Not that hard.  I designed and built an 11 port fully isolated power supply for my pedal board.  Works like a charm.  I don't think you need isolated power in this case meaning the whole that ng would be pretty cheap too.  The biggest cost on mine was the Weber transformer, and that would not be needed.

71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: FutureBit Moonlander 2 USB Hubs Thread on: December 03, 2017, 07:52:13 PM
Thought I would share this one.  Relatively cheap if it works as advertised.  7 ports, 4amps, I figure you can get 4 moonlanders on it using alternating ports.

Now I just need a few moonlanders 😭

I'll post some feedback once I use it.

Looks like asiicpuppy has these listing again.  Limited to 1 per order.

My first BTC payment... Kinda cool but the fee?!?!  Not Asics fault I know.

I'm still looking if anyone has a few to spare..... Just not @ $100 USD.... Dang guys

Hey guys.  I'm looking to pick up 2-4 of these if anyone has a few to spare.
