181  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some questions about platforms. on: December 28, 2017, 12:45:19 AM
Hi everyone so quick questions out of the 100+ platforms to trade coins on.

Are there some you would say need to watch out for? Or are they all truth worthy?

I would watch out for most of them and stick to the reputable exchanges. Bitstamp, Gemini, Coinbase/GDAX and Bitflyer are all licensed and trustworthy. With Bittrex's recent issues (accounts being locked, new KYC policies and lowered withdrawal limits), Binance has quickly become the most trusted altcoin exchange.

That said, I would spread around the third party exchange risk and not keep all my eggs in one basket. Any of these services could be hacked and immediately become insolvent.

This. There are many shady exchanges so one needs to be careful, and the biggest ones are safest for sure.
182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin on Uber on: December 21, 2017, 08:09:30 AM
With the transaction fees we have you think is worthy ? You would be tipping more than the entire trip

Atm it depends how fast you want the transaction Smiley Also scaling will be done in 2018 to sort the transaction issues

Awesome news. What if uber does their own token for tipping later on ? Wouldn't that be cool Cool
184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin or other crypto-related charity projects? on: December 20, 2017, 09:02:45 PM
Hello everyone!

I am looking for various of bitcoin/crypto-related charity projects. Google has given me a lot of help in my search, I've found some really interesting ones, but I was thinking people here might help me find those that I've not found yet!

All suggestions are most welcome Smiley

Some of the following exchanges are good for alts.

- Bittrex
- Poloniex
- Bitfinex
- Binance

Check them out and see which one suits you the best! As for wallets, you could keep it all in an exchange (risky according to most people) or just get a wallet for each of them. Good luck and welcome to the crypto world!

There are plenty of exchanges to choose from, below are some of the more popular ones.

188  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Quantum Computer vs Bitcoin on: December 19, 2017, 10:35:56 PM
I heard that Quantum Computer can destroy bitcoin.
Is it possible?

No. Quantum theory is fake "science" and does not exist, nor do "quantum computers".

They don´t exist until they exist. BTW there are some projects out there that can kill bitcoin without the need for quantum computing.

Intriguing, what are those projects that can kill bitcoin?
189  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Quantum Computer vs Bitcoin on: December 19, 2017, 09:33:52 PM
It is said that quantum computer's massive calculating power can be able to break bitcoin security within a decade and there are report that the first quantum computer are currently under development. Some also suggest that the bitcoin protocol should be revised to make the system safer. Whether it is true or not, bitcoin must always be prepared to cope with the future's challenges to beef up its security.

Precisely, the first quantum computers are under development and quantum computing has been a hot topic the last few months. There are some interesting developments in the area, for ex. recently Microsoft programming language called #Q -  https://www.forbes.com/sites/fredcampbell/2017/12/18/microsofts-quantum-computing-vaporware/

Edit: There are so many interesting news lately, that a fast google on 'quantum computers' shows a lot of good articles Smiley

Great idea, There is not enough crypto related charity these days. I wish you the best with this project!
191  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin really secure? on: December 18, 2017, 11:13:33 PM
Bitcoin’s underlying technology is based off of cryptography and encryption. The technology can’t be hacked until quantum computers are a feasible thing but that is decades from now.
 Huh Huh Huh

There are a lot of interesting news related to quantum computing lately, for example the news about Microsoft's future release of a new programming language called Q# !

193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC transaction stating "Replaceable" what's going on ? on: December 14, 2017, 02:14:30 PM
A lot of people have started to use alts to do transactions, for ex. LTC or ETH. Check it out, less fees and faster transaction time. But if you have no stress with your transaction, you can just use BTC. One thing you can do is to always check the current state of the mempool before making up your mind on how you want to do the transaction.
194  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase to Gdax Btc transfer lost in cyberspace? on: December 12, 2017, 10:49:56 PM
I think you can relax since it is between gdax and coinbase. Usually a transfer between gdax and coinbase is done instantly like you've probably experienced before, now there's probably just some delay/tech issue within coinbase and it is all logged in their backoffice for sure. I understand the frustration and I would be concerned as well, coinbase need scale up their customer service as much as possible to handle the absolutely huge amount of new customers they get on a daily basis, but I guess they are doing this already. One thing you could do is to write to them on twitter too.

Good luck with your issue here, I think it will be solved soon!  Smiley
195  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or gold? on: December 12, 2017, 08:09:08 PM
If you had to convert all your wealth to either Bitcoin or gold and keep it there for 10 years, which would you choose? Keep in mind the fact that Bitcoin has only been around for 5 years, and could be fundamentally different in any number of ways in 10 years.

i think i will choose both. so that i will try which is the best. If I choose both i am in the safe side so I will choose it. Bitcoin and gold are the same there is profit and benefits that can get.

I would do the same for the simple reason; Diversification Smiley
196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin's future on: December 12, 2017, 01:14:59 PM
Litecoin was regarded as silver to Bitcoin. However, its performance is much worse than Bitcoin.

What's your view on Litecoin's future? Will it catch up or continue to underperform?

Dumb start to a thread. LTC has hugely outperformed BTC in 2017. It was true the day the OP started this thread and is even more so today.

Thanks for sharing that article. Interesting read. I'd say that the future of LTC is brighter than ever.

198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2018 The year of the altcoin on: December 06, 2017, 08:10:54 PM
2018 will surely be an interesting year for cryptocurrencies where we might see the first steps of mass adoption of blockchains.
199  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Ethereum so special? on: December 06, 2017, 09:47:57 AM
It has so much reason to be special honestly. From the first day ethereum is one of the most useful coins in the crypto world. Using ethereum and ethereum based platforms makes the life much easier. Another important reason for me is trustworthiness. Ether is one of the most trustworth coins out there , i don't remeber ethereum failing it's investors much.

Indeed, it is the most useful one out there at the moment. It is also fairly user friendly and the ethereum project has a great roadmap too.
200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin or Ethereum: Which is the Future Cryptocurrency on: December 04, 2017, 10:12:23 PM
They are fundamentally different, so difficult to directly compare. Both is the future! Smiley
