1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][OHMCOIN]Ohmwallet Rebrand[POS/MASTERNODE] on: March 16, 2018, 04:37:11 AM
Definitely glad to be a part of this project.  Solid development team and great guys to work with.
2  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: Merit Phase 2 - Drain the Swamp (@theymos) on: March 14, 2018, 05:44:37 PM
I do not truly like the idea of managers making accounts have a certain amount of merit before they can participate or that they have to earn a certain amount a week because then you are leaving your participation up to if someone else feels that you have put out a quality post.  I also agree that there needs to be something in place to limit any type of account farming because that is not fair to everyone else and people get tired of reading a lot of the posts.  I wish the merit stuff would have started a week later because then i could have gotten my member status.  LoL.  I will get there eventually.  Have not had a big chance to post much lately as I have had other things outside of crypto consuming me.

Bottom line for me...anything we can do to limit spam and make the forum better, I am for...just dont like leaving my participation in a bounty or something up to someone else and if they find my post is something valuable and worth merit.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you like airdrops? [A poll based on topic 2897311] on: March 14, 2018, 05:32:06 PM
Who doesn't love a free airdrop?  It is free coins and sometimes those coins can turn into some real value.  Most of the time they do not but I have been apart of several that have made me some money.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XRP or XLM on: March 14, 2018, 02:30:22 AM
I possess both of these coins and do agree that they are both good investments.  My bag of XLM is a little larger than ripple but hopefully I can pick up some more of both.
5  Other / Meta / Re: Where the Merit Pours? on: March 12, 2018, 01:50:05 PM
A really nice post.  Love all of the analysis and graphics.  If I had sMerit, I would have definitely given you some for your time and dedication on this analysis and write up.
6  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Stat from theymos data on: March 08, 2018, 04:20:15 PM
I'm getting more source merits to send, I've already ranked up 2 Jr members into members or 2 members into full members. currently I don't have any idea on how to post a task with merits as the reward. if I ask for something complicated, nobody would know how to complete the task, if it is too easy, they might get undeserved merits.

I have already made up my mind about giving merits to members, I would give them a task to complete and they would earn some merits. I had 3 sMerits last time I checked, now I have 7. if the thing that you have done here was useful to me, I could have rewarded you with some merits. my first attempt of distributing merits got somebody a negative trust.

I wanted to ask people to post on my thread and have me viewing their posts. due to the limited source merits given to me, I couldn't offer something interesting for people. if you are up for it, I could reward you with 7 merits if you could PM me the numbers of empty blocks from block #20,000 to block 500,000. if you think that you are up for the task, post here and reserve the spot, I don't want several members doing the same thing and expect to have the reward.

Just wanted to say thank you for offering up merit rewards for tasks completed.  It is also nice to see that you have ranked up several members and jr members.  Also, to the statistician up above, great post.  If I had some sMerit to give you, I would as this was a really good post.
7  Other / Meta / Re: What is merit function ? on: March 06, 2018, 12:54:59 PM
Not everyone that is new is here to post shit threads and be apart of air drops.  I am in an airdrop but I dont go out spamming or shit posting just to build up posts.  I created my bct account before I started in an airdrop at the recommendation of a personal friend that is a legendary member on here.  He said this is the place to learn and research so that is what I try to do.  More reading than posting.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING DeepOnion is a SCAM, proof inside! on: March 06, 2018, 12:51:32 PM
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it does mean it is correct or the truth.  I possess Deep Onion, am a member of the airdrops and have had 0 issues with anything in that community to so far.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What Do You Think Of The Longevity Of Crypto Jobs? on: March 01, 2018, 02:18:02 PM
I definitely agree that it would be important on which projects you choose to work for.  Some projects might have a long term need and sustainable growth for you, which I am sure is important.  Others could be just like coins themselves, up and down and done in a short time.  I do think it would be nice to be able to get away from the standard 9-5 to go to work for something you really enjoy.  I wish you luck in your endeavors!
10  Other / Meta / Re: Merits for the newbies and jr members on: February 27, 2018, 01:57:09 PM
Some people might not consider there to be a lot of value in giving merit to higher ranking members but if their posts contribute quality and are on point, they do deserve it.  I am not going to lie, it has been difficult to rank up since merit came in place but it is something that we all have to deal with now.  I was a a few days away from becoming a member when merit was inserted into the picture, so it is taking longer but it is not worth crying over.  I think it should have been put in place for a while to see how it worked and then been added to the formula for ranking up.  Like a test run to see how it performed.  It is having an effect on the number of spam posts which is a great thing...now if we could just cut down on the people selling accounts or having multiple accounts to farm merit.

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Giving up on a Coin/Project on: February 27, 2018, 01:51:36 PM
So what makes you finally give up on a coin, if anything?  I know I have some coins that seem to be dead but every now and then, some life gets pumped back into them.  Of course if the developer stops working on it at all, I think that is no good but I just wanted to see what some others consider to be a lost cause.

Would definitely love to hear from some that have been in the game a while but of course I will appreciate everyone's opinion.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: sellers Accounts on: February 25, 2018, 06:20:38 PM
It is unfortunate to see posts like this with people selling accounts.  Don't think I haven't thought twice about looking into them but then my conscience kicks in and let's me know it is definitely the wrong thing to do.  These prices do seem like a scam be side it is so difficult to rank up now.  I'm just working on trying to become a member.  Haha.  Almost there, just have to put it some more quality posts.
13  Other / Meta / Re: merit hole: 30 accounts more than 500 merits on: February 23, 2018, 01:43:52 AM
Damn...all that merit for those posts.  I am struggling to get to 10 to rank up to member but at least I know I am doing it the right way.  I know not all of my posts are merit worthy but hopefully some of them continue to earn from time to time.  I hate seeing this system abused even though I might not like it.  Thanks for your hard work in identifying these transgressions.  I am sure after a while that they will be easier to spot and hopefully they can get addressed and the issue be remediated.
14  Other / Meta / Re: Is it even possible to Merit would be cancelled? on: February 21, 2018, 03:24:05 PM
I was not around when BCT was deemed to be a great forum and the place to be.  I was not having any issue with it since I joined but apparently many of the old timers thought it was going down the shitter with posts and campaigns.  If you have those feelings, that is definitely ok and your right to do so but don't always bash someone because they may not speak the best English or something else.  Those are truly the posts that I see as shit posts and pointless.  Just because someone is not of the "rank" you are does not make you any better than them.  Just because English may not be their first language or their grammar is not the greatest, dont just jump right on bashing them.  I can bet more than half of these "ranked" individuals would not say shit to that same person in public.

As far as the merit system...some people like it and others dont.  We just need to learn to embrace it as I dont see it going anywhere.  Work on making a better post and you might get rewarded...and then again, you might not because sometimes it is who you know, not what you know or how "qualitative" your post may be.

15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Magic words: Which leads to a bullrun? on: February 21, 2018, 01:10:36 PM
I have definitely seen a coin start to pump based on those words.  I think another key phrase could be "active developer".
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I lost over 80k because i sold too early (newbie mistake) on: February 17, 2018, 03:23:41 AM
That definitely would have been a nice profit but just count yourself lucky for now as a lot of newbies have came into the game and lost big time.  Just research your projects and hold if you can.  Good luck.
17  Other / Meta / Re: Merit "trading" - buying and selling Bitcointalk merit on: February 14, 2018, 08:45:59 PM
I would truly hope that merit sources are not involved in selling/trading of merit because that would defeat the purpose of it.  Sometimes earning merit is easy and other times, I find it hard to believe that a post I was reading was not merited by someone that had some to give.  I wish we had a way to flag a post that we might think is meritable but we do not possess merit.  Maybe this notification could go to a merit source for review.  I know that would be a cumbersome task, so I am not really sure on how feasible it would be.  I know I have saw multiple posts that I thought were of high quality but no one else did and the author was not awarded any for it.  I know there are some posts out here saying to show them a good post and they will go check it out...so others are thinking of the same idea...just wish we had a way to "automate" it in the forum.  I just wish the merit stuff would have started a week later when I could have became a Member on the next cycle up...lol.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which App Do You Use For Crypto? on: February 13, 2018, 11:14:02 PM
Cointracking is my favorite site/app for tracking crypto.  It has a ton of features, allows you to set alerts, can use api's to pull in data and is able to provide a multitude of reports including a tax report.  So far it had not let me down at all.
19  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: February 12, 2018, 02:31:02 PM
I am still amazed to see the number of posts regarding merit and rankings.  I am not going to lie, I was upset right in the beginning as well because I was set to become a Member on the next activity cycle but now I have to still earn 5 more merit points to get there.  As with any change, there are going to be people for and against it...people are going to try and work the system and still get what they want.  I am definitely all for making this forum a better place and not having as many spam posts.  I am just thankful we all have a place to come and discuss issues with crypto and hopefully gain some knowledge from the folks that have been around for a while.  Thanks and Good Luck!
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Receiving Airdrops on: February 12, 2018, 02:20:52 PM
The most important aspect to airdrops is just reading and following all of the instructions.  Make sure you sign up early, perform any and all specific tasks that are required for the air drop and make sure you have a way for them to get your coins to you.  The airdrops that I have been a part of, are coins with their own QT wallets and you have to send them your address to be receive the coins.  Are you having an issue with a particular coin that you think you should have been airdropped?  If so, post it and maybe we can help you figure out what is going on.
