481  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [ANN] 700,000 Cash Deposit Locations in Brazil, Russia, USA - BitInstant on: May 23, 2012, 09:08:52 PM
Hi,

1- Why not publish boleto fee on quote cash transaction window?

Generally we don't know the fees charged after it gets passed to zipzap but I will ask them about how to obtain this data.
482  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [ANN] 700,000 Cash Deposit Locations in Brazil, Russia, USA - BitInstant on: May 23, 2012, 09:07:13 PM
Maybe put the "go" button first so you don't have to scroll down to find it. Maybe slightly bigger too (not as big as the giant green button you had before - but green is still a good color):

Will need to look at a few other design changes on that quote page too so this might not happen straight away.

Thanks for the feedback
483  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [ANN] 700,000 Cash Deposit Locations in Brazil, Russia, USA - BitInstant on: May 23, 2012, 08:53:54 PM
Here is what I did.
I went to bitinstant.com and followed the screens through trustcash.com. After printing my payment slip I drove it to the nearest location (Wells Fargo). I gave them the exact amount for the transfer, and after a few puzzled looks from the teller she did the transfer.
That was at 2:05pm. I will update this post when the cash arrives.

EDIT: BAM! 2:19pm and I'm in the money. No ID, no delay, no hassles. This is how I will get coins in the future.

Now this kind of thing is why we do what we do, thanks for the business Smiley

With regards to some of the misc bugs people have reported, most have been patched now, as you can probably imagine demand for a new service can be very high and we sometimes get a few glitches popping up. If anyone finds any issues that haven't been resolved already please email support@bitinstant.com and provide as much detail as possible. We're famous now for our rapid support responses.

You still need something next to the "Cash Deposit" default option to let people know that there are multiple choices for cash deposit - many people won't know to click the down arrow to see their choices. How about "Select One" or "Cash Deposit - Select One"? They might just leave the "Cash Deposit" field in the default position without specifying. Maybe you could have a prompt for them if they don't make a specific selection?

About to change this now

After you send, post your repayment address or PM it to me

Good luck with whatever the hell it is you're doing.  Smiley

100.5BTC sent back, transaction fbbf9138112812b7e0a97ba63dd2859ca25ac830f85c5e76b0ac10d0b29b6161 - sent from a gox green address

Many thanks, it was a pleasure doing business
486  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for a small personal loan, details to be kept confidential, under 100BTC on: April 24, 2012, 06:25:34 AM
Would lend you the money at 8% p.a., so for a week that would be about 100 * .08 * 7/365 = 0.15 BTC interest.

I take it you were happy with the terms I offered as my gox balance is now showing 100BTC Smiley

I'll need your repayment address

Did want it to be kept confidential (call me paranoid), but that's too good a deal to pass up.

Let's call it 0.5BTC interest, repayment due on or before May 10th

1NA1KhRvhViv46iDr2VntWeKcDQv5A6hAE is my address (gox deposit address, if you use a gox-to-gox transfer it'll be faster but won't show in the blockchain, I will however verify my account balance after you send - oh the irony).

After you send, post your repayment address or PM it to me
488  Economy / Lending / [FILLED] Looking for a small personal loan, 50-100BTC on: April 24, 2012, 05:54:15 AM
As the subject says, i'm looking for a small personal loan to cover a few urgent expenses but would prefer to keep the details anonymous.

I hope that my reputation should speak for itself as I generally deal with 1000s of dollars of other people's money daily via BitInstant, but as this is a personal loan and unrelated to my company I will provide on request any additional verification of my honesty and intent and capacity to repay.

If anyone would like to take me up on this then please PM. I will publicly post the details after repayment, and of course any lender should feel free to post all details if I fail my side of the deal.

Already one lender has been PMed with a request for a quote, and I just realised that I don't actually need to keep the whole thing private, so please throw some quotes at me if you want my interest Wink

EDIT

Forgot to mention the duration of the loan - about a week or two, to be repaid sometime early may

EDIT

Confidentiality no longer required, and possibly partly filled
489  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Jered Kenna and 'scammer' tag? on: April 23, 2012, 04:43:19 PM
I feel the need to step up here as Jered is someone I hold a great deal of respect for and feel he's being extremely unfairly criticised here.

Due to the close partnership that existed between BitInstant and TradeHill, I know a great deal about what happened over there and have to say that Jered is one of the hardest working and honest people I have ever met. I am aware that he is having to manually deal with all requests that come in from multiple users and is doing this solely by himself while also suffering all the blame for TradeHill's business failure as the public face.

Because TradeHill was at its peak the second largest exchange around, it's only to be expected that a LOT of users will be wanting their funds back, and that might make the process slow but there is absolutely no evidence of malice anywhere.

There ARE real scammers in this community sadly, Jered is not one of them - he's one man who's got a lot of weight on his shoulders and is struggling. At no point has there been even a single sign of malice.

One thing I personally intend to do now is to talk to Jered about a more efficient way of handling this, rather than dealing with ad-hoc requests, and the most efficient way to handle things is to sort accounts by balance and proactively contact users. While lawsuits and threats of lawsuits may make you feel better or may possibly get you pushed to the top of the queue, they won't solve the core issue that there's quite simply a huge pile of people needing their funds.
490  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitInstant now has an MSB license from FinCEN? on: April 19, 2012, 06:45:29 PM
At least they can call you to recover their lost PIN. They probably won't be able to call you to recover their stolen funds.

An excellent and true point
491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitInstant now has an MSB license from FinCEN? on: April 19, 2012, 10:12:06 AM
I would think the GPG is not terribly necessary... it would work well and would definitely be secure, but the audience is relatively small.

Yes, a PIN from the website (presumably delivered by https) that they must write down would be miles above simply e-mailing them everything they need to get ripped off in one place, and is not too exotic or technical.  It's no different than what Chase or PayPal does.

Workflow would be simple.  Ask user:  "Redeeming the funds requires an 8-digit PIN number which we will choose, and which will not be e-mailed to you.  You will need to write it down or have it texted to you.  Do you want to see the PIN now? (yes/no)  Do you want us to text the PIN to your mobile phone now? (yes/no)"...

Yup, I like this idea ALOT.

I'm gonna discuss it with the team and see how soon we can get this implemented.

Thanks for the feedback!

I love that idea too, but I can picture a lot of people losing the PIN sadly, let's talk when you're online (and not in public either)
492  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: [SOLVED] Problem with Bitinstant overcharging on: April 06, 2012, 08:08:39 PM
This issue has now been entirely resolved as can be seen on our current site. In future, please do raise any issues like this in private first so that they can be resolved quickly, we are well-known for responding rapidly to support emails and can be reached using the contact form on the website or by a direct email to support@bitinstant.com.
493  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Jered Kenna (TradeHill) ,why don't you pay back OUR money ?". on: April 04, 2012, 01:48:15 PM
After your PM to myself regarding this i've raised the issue with Jered.

For future reference, it's best to contact Jered directly, neither I personally nor BitInstant carries responsibility now for TradeHill withdrawals now as that service has now closed down.
494  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] BitInstant’s New Website! + BTC-E and Bitstamp! on: March 30, 2012, 12:39:40 PM
On the list!

+1. UKash would be great.. you can buy UKash vouchers at most corner stores in the UK - so it'd be like the cash deposit via a bank, except it's a cash deposit via your local corner store instead (open late, weekends, etc).

There's also absolutely no requirement to show ID. You hand over the cash and the corner store guy hands you a receipt with a code on it.

I guess the fees are probably a bit higher than the bank cash deposit thing but I think it would be a pretty robust solution, I'm surprised that none of the exchanges seem to take it yet.

You might also want to look at contracting directly with http://www.epayworldwide.co.uk/ and/or http://www.paypoint.co.uk/. These are the companies that operate the payment terminals in the corner stores that facilitate voucher sales (such as UKash, but there are actually lots of them - you could setup a bitinstant voucher on the paypoint/epay terminals and cut out the ukash middleman - but it would probably still be good to have ukash since they're already setup and in other countries as well).

We've been looking into paypoint for a long time now as it's a service I commonly use myself. Currently, this is scheduled for later this year but we're trying to push it to come sooner.

On the list!
496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] BitInstant’s New Website! + BTC-E and Bitstamp! on: March 30, 2012, 09:43:48 AM
Will you guys ever accept ukash for payment?  That would be a big deal for me personally.. :-D

We're always investigating new payment methods, I believe that ukash in fact may already be on the list (it's a BIG list) but will double check that for you and add it if not.
497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] BitInstant’s New Website! + BTC-E and Bitstamp! on: March 30, 2012, 09:36:28 AM
Logo looks really nice and site looks good, well done.

But,

  • I get a lot of "400 Bad Request Request Header Or Cookie Too Large", e.g. when clicking FAQ
  • I don't like the "page in page" so that I get a separate inner scrollbar, e.g. on the Rates and Fees page. It's much easier to get an overview if the full page height is used.

The 400 error has just been fixed, thanks for reporting it.

As for the page in page design - i'll talk to our designer about expanding the page, but believe me that the site as it is now is the result of a LOT of work, we found that using this kind of frame-like effect was generally much more aesthetically pleasing. That FAQ will also be updated soon as we're moving away from the earlier design which used a lot of light humour in a similar style to sites such as nearlyfreespeech.net and others.
498  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [LIVE] Withdraw Your TradeHill Balance Instantly- BitInstant on: February 28, 2012, 08:27:19 AM
And now MTGox orders should be done too - if your order has not turned up (remember, we deliver gox funds as a coupon code sent by email) then please contact myself or Yankee or email support@bitinstant.com and give your TradeHill withdrawal ID so we can look into things.

We're still offering this service for a while so don't think you've missed out, and we've now also optimised the process a lot so that it will be more in line with our usual speeds and live up to the "Instant" part of the BitInstant name.
499  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [LIVE] Withdraw Your TradeHill Balance Instantly- BitInstant on: February 24, 2012, 12:48:17 PM
A quick note for those wondering:
Due to the manual work required, once TH approves, you may need to wait a few more hours for your withdrawal request to get caught up in the current batch of orders, i'm running through one such batch right now and for any future batches will aim to complete the whole lot in no more than 24 hours.

Believe me that I did try to get this whole system automated with a web app, but due to the AML concerns it has become a painstaking manual process. If you are concerned about a withdrawal request not turning up then please get in touch with us via the regular support channels.
500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [UPDATE] Withdraw Your TradeHill Balance Instantly- BitInstant on: February 16, 2012, 11:13:16 PM
I'll vouch for the guys at TradeHill and say this definitely is NOT another mybitcoin, but they are under a heavy workload right now.
We've just been finalising the process for running these transfers while keeping compliant with all the AML regulations and so on, so while it may seem things are moving slowly i'll personally promise that we are both (BitInstant and TradeHill) working to get you your funds as fast as possible.
