This still needs to be sorted out because Mastercard wouldn't necessarily have knowledge of partner bank's affiliate negotiations.
That is probably true, but the problem is that now that they know about it, they could revoke that bank's authorization to issue debit cards. The fact that MasterCard is coming out and saying they don't have knowledge of this does not bode well for the product launch. I've refrained from commenting in public on this so far, but here's my own personal view on the matter: We are making arrangements with a third party, that third party will be submitting the details to mastercard but have not done so yet - hence why mastercard are claiming to have no knowledge. So far, we're fully in compliance with all the requirements of the third party, we've been talking to them for a long time now to get everything together. Therefore, there's no reason why mastercard would want to decline the formal submission as doing so would damage their relationship with the issuer we are working with - and we are not their only client. In short, it'd be suicidal for mastercard to cut off the issuer we're working with just as a spite against bitcoin, especially considering that our planned service brings no increased risk to them.

So how would you fund the debit card/credit card? and if you live in Canada can you still get one The cards will have a bitcoin address and QR code on the front, you can send BTC to the card using that.

Can you PM myself or Yankee with the full set of fields you were putting into the form on our homepage so that this issue can be debugged?
|
|

Speaking on behalf of only myself:
Any time you swap physical cash for something there's an audit trail somewhere and it can be correlated with the corresponding BTC transaction.
For most people though this should definitely be anonymous enough - for the truly paranoid a mixer which sends the funds slowly over time in several smaller transactions and which keeps no logs is the best approach.

Even though as a community we can determine Chen Jianhai to be the hacker, No we cannot. You have provided no evidence of this person's existence at all, let alone their actions/implication in this theft. I invite you to do so now.he hasn't been proven guilty legally yet. That will only happen when he faces a criminal charge. He hasn't been proven to exist or guilty in any way either. You have invented this person to deflect blame from yourself. Again, I invite you to prove me wrong. So intuitively I feel that the more the community criticizes me, the more I deserve to actually take possession of the funds and run away (because they penalized me like I did steal the funds, and I didn't). This is a pathetic attempt of blackmail and to silence your critics without justification, with the retained promise of refund. I believe so. He handled this matter very professionally and I'm going to continue recovering the fiat money from the hackers. Well what a wonderful white knight you are. Please, tell me how you, a 14/15/16/17 year old: 1. Were able to gain audience with a prolific and dangerous criminal. 2. Prove his guilt and gain a confession. 3. Strip him of his latest theft. 4. Gain permission to publish his name and incriminate him publicly. 5. Still be able to walk. I'm just going to comment here to say "Yes, this really is our attorney at BitInstant, and he is a trustworthy guy".... any creditors should feel free to call up his firm at Engage Legal if they have any concerns. Please provide contact details for this firm and the specific people involved. Also please tell us how much of the recovered funds will be used to pay for whatever legal services have been contracted. BB. edit: Patrick's home address was mistakenly posted here, removed by his request - I ask that anyone who quoted my post please likewise remove it as the phone number etc are suitable means of contact

I have sent 15,000 BTC to an address provided by Patrick Murck.
He or one of his clients will later confirm the receipt of the funds and also the escrow/representation relationship.
The funds were sent to the Bitcoin address as requested: http://blockchain.info/address/1FqqBZnemCrcCDbz57Nk7LHLCN42hCHXEV. Thank you Zhou for your cooperation. I was asked by some of the creditors and interest holders in Bitcoinica, LP to broker this transaction. Steps are being taken to safely transfer the funds to Bitcoinica, LP so they may be distributed in a fair and expeditious manner to claimants. Thank you, Patrick Murck Principal | Engage Legal PLLC I'm just going to comment here to say "Yes, this really is our attorney at BitInstant, and he is a trustworthy guy". Either Patrick, myself or Charlie will post here in public once the funds have been turned over to the appropriate entity, but for now they are in safe hands with a licensed attorney (Patrick) and any creditors should feel free to call up his firm at Engage Legal if they have any concerns.

She's quite good on virtual worlds.
The theories people have about somebody paying her to discredit Bitcoin or whatever sound mildly bonkers - I'm guessing that what happened here was that she did the piece on Bitcoin on her virtual worlds blog and got a lot of attention resulting in a very decent number of pageviews for what is normally a fairly small niche, so she figured she may as well repeat the trick on another site for a wider audience.
This There is sometimes a little too much paranoia around in this community, not all of it justified
|
|
|
She's known for writing articles relating to the virtual worlds industry with a focus on opensim and hypergrid (hence the name of her blog - hypergrid business). Bitcoin has been thrown around a lot as an ideal way to implement virtual currency for opensim grids and not everyone is interested in that approach.

Ira (bearbones) and I were chatting today. We've come up with a new slogan which should be made the official slogan of Bitcoin: Bitcoin Magic Computer Money So the new strategy is that whenever you're introducing Bitcoin to someone, don't try to explain how it works, or why it's so amazing. Just say, "it's magic computer money." Also, when users open up the Satoshi desktop client software, there should be a new splash screen that flashes black and yellow real fast for about 5 seconds and it should say "MAGIC COMPUTER MONEY" Thoughts? That's essentially how I explained what bitcoin is when I sent a casascius bar to my grandfather as a gift. "It's magic computer money" gareth, you are in Manhattan right? ask your advertising-industry friends what they think. lol, no - i'm in wales

You know what hurts in the long run? Having your money tied up while the price of BTC is going up. . . lost arbitrage profit blah blah . . .
Oh come on, man. We are all in the same boat here. I think it's unreasonable to keep implying that the other party is responsible for the profit you *could* have made with the money that was being transferred. Charlie's amazingly polite but if I was the service and I saw that line of argument, I would just say: "Please feel free to take your business elsewhere if you are not satisfied with the reliability of my service." On a related note, I want my bitcoinica money back just as bad as anyone else, but I'm sick of gripe threads from people implying that bitcoinica owes them an *additional* $XX,000 because the price has moved. I just think they should work as advertised. Do what they say they do. If they are supposed to move money and they don't, what's wrong with sharing that experience here? As it stands, I just tried again and it did the same thing. They apparently have some glitch in their system. Is this always happening with btc-e in particular or are you having problems with other destinations too? Do you have skype? If so, PM me your username here, then i'll add you and you can grab me personally on skype if you have future issues.

Ok thx for the info,i try to search davout here but cannot find it.
He isn't very active on the forums, but I think that if he had some advice to give to you it would be : "don't". The actual code that runs the exchange is the easy relaxing part. The hard part is all the rest. Code = easy Dealing with banks, accounting, security, customers, taxation, lawyers, monitoring, automation = hard & stressful Make a solid plan and leave the code thing as the last thing you'll do. And better find a good one - you don't want to wake up and see all the coins in your server stolen.
And I don't have time to provide personalized code-level support to potential competition Ok thanks for the input,i'll keep that in mind. I think the same like u too, after the code is finish & setup,im thinking how & what to run this exchanger. Yes it will be hard & stressful, but if the exchange run automaticly, For example..we can drive the customer to do a deposit / withdrawl via bitinstant code, Im sure we can minimize the hard & stressful. Unfortunetly bitinstant havent available for my country currency. Do u know where i can find bitinstant source code? Thank u Our serverside code isn't open but if you're interested in integration then get in touch and we can help you out with API client code. What country are you in?

Well, at least it's good to know that nuts won't decieve me. They're preserved with salt, not lies. Wait a minute... salt is sodium chloride! That contains chlorine! Chlorine is bad for you! I'd better put on a gas mask... *attempts to eat nuts by mashing them against gas mask filter* Dammit, this isn't working! What am I doing wrong?
Better be careful about water too. I saw a local water quality report the other day that said there were levels of dihydrogen monoxide that would make your eyes pop. That shit can kill you! I hear that levels of DHMO in the water supply are in the 90%+ range now
